The Blue Sky Tavern/Red Mill Ribs & Whiskey

Seating is variable and you can find a spot to suit you, just ask. We stopped in for lunch. The soups were amazing. Smoker short rib chili where the chunks of meat were plentiful and delicious, just a hint of spicy. Crab and Shrimp chowder is perfect if your looking for that creamy crab taste and large sections of shrimp. The bangers and mashed were exactly as your would expect. Tasty sausage served over mashed potato. It's a home style comfort food.

There are 2 ways to get into the restaurant. One from the patio/outside seating area. The 2nd door is why I would consider the main entrance. Once inside it’s a little dark inside depending on how high they have the lighting. If you are going to sit inside to eat. I recommend sitting away from the bar area. I ordered the wings and the loaded tots. The loaded tots are not tater tots. The are shredded hash browns that are fried. They are good so I recommend them along with the wings. They were good as well. Again if you want to have a conversation with friends or a loved one I would sit away from the bar due to elevated noise.

Lastnight was my first time visiting The Blue Sky Tavern. I was spending the weekend with close friends that live within walking distance of the Blue Sky Tavern and my friends had been wanting to take me there for Saturday night Karaoke for some time now. I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we did not plan well and had eaten dinner before arriving, but the beverage service was fantastic. The atmosphere at the tavern is relaxed and super friendly friendly. The Karaoke entertainment really is a hit for both whether you're there to be entertained or you're there is as a participant. While we did not eat there during our stay, I did happen to catch a glimpse of a few of their menu items which looked plentiful and delicious. Drinking prices were certainly affordable and in line with any other comparable venue in that area I look forward to visiting with my friends in Etters and hanging out again at The Blue Sky Tavern.

Really disappointed. We both had the fish and chips - it was over-breaded and greasy. It was also either overcooked or the grease needed changed as the color was very dark. Wish I had taken a picture. We scraped off the breading to be able to eat it. The service was fine. Very friendly waitress. The beer was cold. We do not plan to return.

This place has charm and great food! Is exactly what I thought to myself as I left this establishment this afternoon. What was excepted to be a fairly normal dining experience turned into one of the best when I came here! Let’s start off with the sheer selection of beverages. Pages of draft beers of all varieties, not only that but I think they go above and beyond by listing the ABV of each so you know exactly what you’re getting into. I now know I enjoyed one 9.0 percent pale ale and loved it! I’m sure their other beverages besides beer and water are also great but I’m only able to attest to what I’ve experienced. Now let’s talk food, if you love hot wings but have been disappointed by the lack of heat of other’s sauces YOU WILL NOT have that problem here, especially if you try their brand new “cry baby” blue sky wings like I did. Now I’m not a serious heat chaser and I’d consider my spice tolerance pretty low but I was feeling adventurous and asked for their SPICIEST SAUCE . Now I have to warn you like I was warned multiple times, if you are not prepared for the fire that will feel like is raging in your mouth I’d encourage you to try one of their many other sauces. But if you’re like me and are open to letting the sauce live up to it’s name and make you cry in public. or you genuinely can handle very spicy things with no problem then I encourage you to give them a try if you’re feeling bold they’re delicious and insanely hot. The staff was also amazingly helpful with their perfectly timed waters to help me out and even brought me a milk haha. Overall I would rate my experience a 10/10 and would go back again.

The atmosphere at Blue Tavern is fantastic. I started off with a Yuengling Lager, which was a great choice to set the tone for the evening. For dinner, I had the seafood Alfredo with shrimp and crawfish—absolutely delicious, rich, and full of flavor. Afterward, I tried a Dr. Pepper whiskey with bitters and cherry, and it was just as impressive. A well-balanced cocktail to finish the night. Overall, excellent food, drinks, and vibe, I’ll definitely be back

Blue Sky is our “go to” local dining option. It delivers consistently good food including great wings, has a great beer selection, and usually has some good local music. Tonight we enjoyed the crabby patty and paradise burgers. Tales of the Times provided some good tunes. Can’t go wrong at Blue Sky!

We popped in and were told by a friendly person to go around the hostess stand & bar and pick a place to dine. We confirmed the kitchen was still open as we passed by the bartender. We were thinking we were going to get wings yet that thought quickly changed courses as our amazing sever, Charlotte, asked about drinks and appetizers. We enjoyed our dinner which started with the Spanish Style Mussels and a cocktail (lemon drop)🍸 for me. The Mac and cheese was delicious and so was the salad and chili in the photo. The dessert was huge and enough to share. Charlotte was amazing and yes 🙌🏼 we took home leftovers. The atmosphere was cozy and very family friendly.

Last minute stop, SO GLAD we did! Fun Tavern, the paradise burger and steak tacos were delicious! Donna our server was Great! Would highly recommend!!

This might be the best Tavern I've ever been to in my whole life (and if you glance at my reviews you know that I'm pretty ruthless when an establishment doesn't measure up). THIS PLACE MEASURES UP. Best atmosphere, friendliest staff, lowest prices, widest selection of beers, wine and liquor, and a great kitchen on top of all that! The music is the finest selection of outstanding bar music I've ever experienced -- come here just to listen to it! I wish I'd known about this place years ago -- I'd have bought a house next door to it.

The food was very good, the service was good, the lighting is alittle dark. Over all would come back If in the area again.

service was extremely slow for it being only half full, drink glasses were dirty beer was not very cold, crab dip was served Luke warm and had to be sent back to be reheated, short rib wellington pastry was not fully cooked and the women's restroom was dirty. I was there a year ago and everything has gone downhill

I ordered a smash burger that was excellent! It was accompanied by an order of fries. This is one of the few places I eat where the fries on the side are not a huge pile dwarfing the rest of the meal. Some people may want the huge pile, but I did not. The service was friendly and quick -- great because I was in a hurry. I like going to Blue Sky because it is a casual place with great food.

Service, food ambience all top of the line. We found Blue Sky on a Sunday morning & have been back. Both visits very nice. Staff is great. Seafood soup & burgers amazing. Returning this week with a group of 15. Anxious.

My daughter and I stopped for lunch as we were out running errands all morning. The waitress recommended the special, a burrito with chips and salsa. The food came out with potato chips, no salsa, and the burrito was awful, super spicy, as if the meat had been sitting. We had two bites at best. We told the waitress who said she could only offer $5 off. At this point we just left and decided I would call later to complain to a manager. Huge thumbs down on this place!

Went on a Wednesday around 6. Sat at the bar to help the bartender because she was the only one covering the whole room. She was great!! Organized, patient, kind. Drinks were a good pour too. Shroom burger was cooked perfectly, and tasted great. My daughter agreed that hers was good too. Fried pickles were perfect. Side salad not wimpy. Definitely recommend and will be going back!

Came here probably a year ago and the food was amazing. Tonight I should have left when it took more than 10 minutes for a server to even come ask us for drinks after arriving and being seated. Got loaded fries as an app and I got maybe 20 fries with some burnt taco meat on top of it they are claiming to be chi Got a side of Mac and cheese for my two year old and came out with what looked like it was a week old burnt baked Mac and cheese. Noodles either crunchy from being burnt or mushy and brown. If I could give it less than one star I would. Manager just sitting at the bar drinking while shitty food is being served and couldn't care less. Waiter even told me "manager was gonna eat it tonight but said it looked kinda off so he didn't" but then he let it be served to others paying money for it. Will not come again. Place has gone downhill. Looking rundown and dingy.

Came to see a Johnny cash and June carter cover show and had a great time! Drinks were great and the mood was great! The place was packed!

Since I always comment on which places have homemade ranch, this place does, and it was good. Started out sharing their soft pretzel with the beer cheese, I really enjoyed the pretzel and cheese. For the main course, I got the big dipper AKA a French dip. Their au ju was nothing to write home to mom about, I added some leftover beer cheese to the top because I didn't feel there was enough cheese. All in all, good experience would go back and try out something different.

Lady Matilda was craving macaroni and cheese but we were stuck at an event negotiating a contract variation with the Duval Magician's Cartel. It's a tedious, pedantic process to go through a six-thousand page agreement line by line, so Lady Matilda was bored and scrolling through Grubhub. The mac and cheese options looked to her to be too good to pass up. She ordered our lunch through Grubhub. The order was ready, but Grubhub was delayed due to problems finding a driver. Despite this, the food arrived hot and was EXCELLENT. I had the cracker-breaded chicken strips (I revert to 12 years old when I'm bogged down in boring chores like that) but Lady Matilda was so over the moon about the Briskit Mac and Cheese that the Duval delegation decided to adjourn for the night and visit the tavern in person. Excellent food, well packaged. It's not cheap, but it was clearly worth the $$$.

We entered from the parking lot through Biergarten and we were asked to walk through restaurant to a front entrance to check in with host. Had to ask a couple people since there was no host there for awhile. Finally we were seated, all the way back by where we originally entered Ok... Ordered drinks and apps, tried to get our waitress a couple times to add drink etc. mostly ignored but she finally came over. Wasn't that busy when we first arrived btw. Got our drinks and apps but no plates to eat our apps off of. Hmmm again tried to flag down waitress to no avail so we just dug in making a little mess on the table trying to get food from app bowls to our faces When she returned later we just asked for extra napkins to tidy our table up. Got our food. Everyone loved their food but I didn't really enjoy the Cajun Alfredo with mushrooms. Not many mushrooms and mostly cheese. Was expecting a little more heat and flavor for it being "Cajun" but I found it bland. If you're looking for greasy, fried foods, this is your place. Hubs tried a couple different ciders and they have an extensive list of alcoholic beverages. Took a star off for just the confusing entry/host situation and another for the inattentive waitress and no plates for our apps.

Nice place but not a fan of their menu. It's not typical bar food. Staff is very nice!

First visit to Blue Sky on a Friday night. Had two levels, but we dined in basement level as that was where the live music was located. Decent crowd which had the bartenders and waitresses in the weeds. Extensive beer list and $4 craft beer special which was a plus. My wife had an old fashion which she said was ok. I ordered the paradise burger which I would rate a 7/10. Fries were very good. The pulled pork my wife ordered was too spicy for her to enjoy (wasn't warned about spicy). Onion rings were over cooked. Service was courteous, but overwhelmed. The entertainment saved the night.

Awesome everything. When they first opened they would give you free sauces and you could add bacon to anything for free. Since then the prices have gone up and they now charge extra for carrots and celery and sauces and bacon. Only bad meal I ever had there was the prime rib. They were very busy and it took long time to get food. When it arrived to table it was as if they just pulled it from the refrigerator. Management offered to replace it but I didn't want to wait another 30-40 minutes after the rest of table had already finished their meals. They did remove it from the bill but they didn't let me take it to go to warm up later.

This place was really great! Our waitress was very nice and I ordered healthy food and it was actually good! I got the lemon pepper cod and broccoli. Went on open mic night on Wednesday evening and it was so good to hear some local musicians. I couldn't believe the talent! Shea Quinn was there, unbelievable talent! Will definitely visit again.

Today was my first time here ever, and luckily for us, they had just hired this amazing new chef! OMG, the food was phenomenal! Best I have had in the area. Cozy spot. Rustic. Great service. I can't say enough about this food. Jeromy Kimple, you have exceptional culinary talent. Kudos to you! And thank you, Bret, for your wonderful service. Keep up the great work! I'll be back!

We had our rehearsal dinner at blue sky & I have only GREAT things to say. First of all, The new chef did an amazing job with their new menu. The catering menu is just as good! We had a party of about 40 people and EVERY SINGLE PERSON had something great to say about how good the food was. The staff is so friendly and made us feel like a part of their family. I'm not one to leave reviews but I just had to leave one for blue sky because they deserve all of the business!!! We regularly have been going since the new menu came out because we love the food & the environment is something you don't have a lot of in this area. 10/10 recommend blue sky for hosting dinner parties, hangout spots or just your typical seated dinner!!!!

Love the colonial old school pub feeling and atmosphere. Menu was solid with a ton of offerings. I had the Wagyu philly sandwich and oh oh oh the bun it was on was freaking awesome. Melt in your mouth bun and meat! I am already planning my next trip back here as my mouth just waters thinking about that damn sandwich!!!!!

Not good, when we had an issue they claimed it was made per their standards and there was nothing wrong. We didn't eat any of it and they only offered 1/2 off the bill, we only ate half the pretzel but we were told we had to pay half of our whole bill. We asked to speak with a manager, now we waited and had to ask another person to get the manager, as it turned out the manager, owner walked past us stood talking to the band setting up, he never knew we wanted him or did he. Yes I got mad but since another customer decided to but in on something they knew nothing about I got even madder. I don't think customers should ever be questioned about a complaint when asked how was your food, and when others don't know what happened from the beginning...bottom line the customer service and food no, not again...

4:30 on a Friday afternoon and this place is wall to wall people. Looks like they are fully staffed. And everyone one was running around trying to stay on top of everything. Attitude of the staff was good and attentive for has busy as they were. Their menu had a nice selection on it. They have specials threw out the week including a happy hour. Quality of what I ordered was good. They have out side seating. With enough room to move around. I would come back here.

Hit or miss on food and service. The past 2 times have been a not so great experience. Haven't been back in a while. Slower days the service is terrible. We want to love it since it's so close to our house but they need to be consistent.

This is our "go to" spot locally. The food is consistent, good basic bar foods. Plus a great draft beer selection! Burgers and extra crispy wings were great. Band was playing as well. Love the live music!

The place was cool. Apparently there is more than one level. We were on the ground level. Band was cool. Now for the food. I had chicken and waffles. It said it was Belgian waffles. However, it was more like eggo waffles. The mashed potatoes were actual real mashed potatoes. The gravy was kinda bland. The max and cheese was real as well. Not that instant bullshit. The corn appetizer (can't remember the name) comes out cold. Feel like it would be better if it was warm. But they said bcz of sour cream it can't be warm. The sweet chili sauce on the shrimp was delicious. The other people with us had chicken with the braised cabbage and Caesar salad. They said chick was moist. They got big portions (4 pieces of chicken) and had to take it home. The waitress was nice but tries a little too hard (mainly bcz she is new and doesn't wanna mess up) and it makes it kinda overbearing. But we still loved her. We will be going back to try the prime rib and fish when the oven is fixed.

A lot of varied experiences here... so not sure really how to review. I know they are trying and heavens knows we need a great dinner spot like this in Etters. Would like to see the food be more dependently and always good - but sadly you just can't count on an excellent experience! I keep trying / keep going back , we need the Tavern to succeed and be excellent!

Enjoyed a delicious lunch! My husband & I stopped in for a bite on our drive to DC. The bartender was very nice and attentive even though the bar was quite full. The cheesesteak and buffalo blue wrap were so filling and delicious! Well done, Blue Sky, we will be back!

I came with my husband tonight, and it was our first time dining here. Our waitress was awesome. She told us that we would probably be taking our pretzel home with us. I thought she was exaggerating, but she was not kidding! The portions were huge. Best French onion soup I've had in a long time! Great experience!

This place is a vibe! Great food....great beer selection...great setting....mixed between country, brew pub, and dive bar. They're always running special events, meal specials, and musical performers too. Kitchen open every night to 1 am. Note: I forgot to check if this restaurant had toothpicks. Based on how awesome it is, I assume they do. If not, I'll drop a star after my next visit.

I ordered the Santa Fe salad supposedly it had avocado in it so I ordered it.. it was good just missing avocado had 2 small slices. Also ordered Mac and cheese ( Kraft Mac with some heavy thick cheese Ontop) Meal was good and the hosts where I picked the meal up was nice, the place itself looks awesome very clean and open till 2am

This place is great! The food was amazing, the staff are all pleasant and very respectful. The ambiance is that of old rock and roll in turn of the century surroundings. Can't wait to go back!

For this area it is at least 4-4.5 star but if you are from out of town with a good culinary scene I'd say 3.5. This is the best spot for this area and worth a try. The hostess was pleasant and the bartender downstairs was awesome. Love the feel of the bar area downstairs. Our service was great! Had the paradise burger and the locally sourced meat was very good. Probably the best hamburger meat you'll find in the South Central PA area. Only drawbacks for me were the bun while it had good flavor was doughy and not toasted, two very small rings of red onion, and a small slice of a non flavorful tomato (about the size of a half dollar coin). The fries were fresh cut but a little soggy. Have the cooks watch a couple of YouTube videos of Bobby Flay making burgers, makes some tweaks and it would be the perfect burger. Nice bourbon and beer selection.

WOW! Brunch is available on yhe weekends and is NOT disappointing! Eric, the owner stopped by our table again it's a pleasure to speak with him. The waitress was spot on and seemed very grateful for our comments on the DELICIOUS food!

Inconsistent quality of food, leaning toward unsatisfactory most of the time. Service is usually nice but the lack of good food just ruins the experience. Good for a quick drink at the bar but not much else.

This place is huge! Find a place to park and head inside. The menu is creative and tasty. We had brunch last week that includes the cracker chicken strips, chicken and waffles and one of the breakfast skillets. Tots are homemade - think mashed potato balls. Chicken and waffles was the kind I grew up with - chicken and gravy over Mini waffles. Great comfort food ... though too salty to get 5 stars. Cracker chicken (quite a few options of this fried breading) was unique and tasty. The skillet was on the smaller size but prices were reasonable, so an additional side is affordable. Pick A meal and Give them a try ...

Two months ago, I would have left the Blue Sky a 5-star review. In fact, I did just that on their Facebook page. The food was superb and it was a place my partner and I went to, on average, once a week. They recently changed their menu and we went and tried it out after going to some other local places to try them out for variety. I ordered the NY Strip and my partner got the country fried pork. I get my steak done medium rare, and it came out that way, only it was the thickness of a piece of shoe leather. Literally it was no thicker than my middle finger. I had two bites of it and it was horrid. My sides were macaroni and cheese and fries. The macaroni and cheese tasted like the recipe changed (it's a side I always would get). The fries were my favorite part of the meal and they weren't even super hot. My partner said his pork was subpar. He felt the same way about the macaroni snd cheese that I did (again, it's a side he would always get). He got the veggie of the day which I think was broccoli, which he said was "bland." We barely ate our food and got to-go boxes to be polite. When we got home, the food went right into the trash. It wasn't palatable and no one would eat the leftovers. We knew that talking to no one there would change the fact that their quality went downhill, so we figured we would just avoid the conversation. Instead, we are going to choose to go elsewhere from now on unless it's for drinks or dessert. I know the economy is rough, but it seems like the owners of the place are skimping on quality food to cut costs. As a person who dines out regularly, making that a priority in my budget, I would rather pay extra to get the same level of food I'm used to than pay the same and get a meal that's not suitable to eat. I know several people who have also ate there recently and have said the same thing. That they won't be going back. We love having the restaurant there, but it seems like nothing lasts in that location. Perhaps the owners should stop and consider the changes they have made or are making and how it is affecting the quality and taste of their food, because this could potentially cause them to lose their business when it could just be avoided. We have tried other restaurants in the area including the Conewago Inn and Kickin Kadillaks. Both places have been exceptional and consistent in both food and service. The price points for their meals are comparable and the servings are huge. We haven't noticed any changes in the qualify of the food due to rising costs and have already communicated our desire to pay more to maintain that quality. We do wish the Blue Sky owners luck though.

I got chicken and waffles and I was super impressed I recommend this place the vibe inside was also super cool

The food here is excellent. Service is a little weak but acceptable. The menu has gotten much better since they opened a few years ago. I have been there several times recently for Sunday brunch and a few dinners. Everything has been excellent. Try the Nashville hot chicken. One of the best that I have ever had. Nice beer selection too.

The cracker chicken tenders have a nice thin breading, and the chicken is juicy. However the breading is under seasoned and I think it can use salt. The fries are also very well seasoned. The street corn dip is served cold but I think it would be better served hot. Overall the food was good and service is kind.

We're really, really happy to see The Blue Sky doing pretty solid business. This area needed a quality dining/drinking establishment, and they're certainly doing their part to provide one. Located in the former building that housed The Jolly Coppersmith and KClingers, the interior hasn't been changed that much from the previous incarnations. The food has. Everything I have had here is outstanding. A "Philly cheesesteak" with Wagyu beef. The sausage and chorizo skillet with red-eye gravy for brunch. My partner's crab-cake Benedict with artichokes. The Mac 'N' Cheese skillets are varied and superb. And those tots -- it's a crime to call them tots. They're not the pre-packaged potato puffs. They are lightly fried, super-cheesy risotto balls. And the four-cheese sauce, which they also use in a lot of their dishes, is perfect. They don't spare on the taste; that's not generic cheese they're using. The first mimosas we tried for Sunday brunch were good, but not too alcoholic. I think the bartender/server heard my partner whisper about that, because her second was about 3/4 alcohol. ;) As was said elsewhere, it's a nice touch that the owner seems to be omnipresent and always appreciative to see you. I really hope The Blue Sky flourishes. It's good for the area, but most important, the quality makes it an option we don't want to lose.

Huge drink selection, interesting unique food. I know we went on a bad night during shift change and apparent call outs last week but I waited 23 minutes after sitting down to get a soda.

Great to have another local option around here, where, quite honestly, the choices are few and the quality just okay when you are south on I-83 past the PA Turnpike. Seems there's nothing between Harrisburg and York on this corridor that's worth getting off and dining at. Until now. Like other reviewers I wanted to give it some time and have a few menu items under my belt before I offered my personal, non-professional (although everyone's a food critic) opinion of this establishment and it's cuisine. And here it is: the Blue Sky Tavern is a keeper! In a nutshell: 1. A very valiant attempt to offer an untraditional, tricky and mouthwatering menu from a variety of places around the country. They're on their way to pulling it off. 2. The ambience is casual, welcoming, relaxing and the theme is music, music, music. A work in progress but when COviD is a thing of the past, and summer-time warrants outdoor venues that offer live music, this place will be rockin', literally. 3. The beer is served ice cold. 4. Owners are very "out front" and appreciative of your patronage which is a welcoming thing to experience. Most local places around here you hardly ever see the owner and when you do they ain't friendly or engaging. 5. Great craft beer selection, and did I mention it's served ICE COLD. Yes, I believe I did. 6. The place is larger than first perceived. There's a lower level seating area and, what looks to be in construction as of our last visit an outdoor seating area, which once completed looks like there might even be a stage area for live music? Don't know, I should've asked. As for food. We have tried: the Yo-Mamma burger, twice; the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, the Philly-Philly wagu beef steak sandwich, the tomato bisque, Drunken Sailor's delight, their French fries, onion rings, and a salad with the Nashville Chicken on top. It's all very good. Finely plated and served with care, concern and a smile. I think it will become even better once they get their MOJO going with a little more experience of fluidly operating at 100%, once the pandemic is over. You need full staff to optimize operations of this magnitude especially if you are a new establishment. I'm expecting any future review I write for the Blue Sky would be a hands down 5 star rating. They've got all the pieces, and you can see it was all starting to come together nicely... ....but unfortunately for them they opened up at a difficult time. They open when there's limitations on seating. Things appeared to be picking up quite quickly for this new eatery with crowded weekends, lots of take-out orders, and word spreading like wildfire we have a new option around here and then, BAMM!, another closure on dine-in seating. You gotta feel for them, especially considering #4 above. Currently offering take-out and door dash. I highly suggest you give it a try and get something you normally wouldn't order. Keep them going during these next few weeks. And Just wait, because if you haven't heard of the Blue Sky Tavern yet, it's only a matter of time before you do. Rock on!
