Where to Eat on Mardi Gras Day in New Orleans

"Duck out of the madness into this martini-drenched oasis on Conti Street in the Quarter. The Bombay Club is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Nibble on the likes of tandoori fish sliders and buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches — but the dirty martini salad may be the best pairing with its liquid namesake." - Beth D'Addono

14 Live Music Venues With First-Rate Food in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"The handsome Bombay Club bills itself as a music venue and martini bar, but the dining options shouldn’t be discounted. The menu includes curried cauliflower, shrimp and grits, and naan tacos with pork belly, fried fish, or cauliflower. There’s music, and good bar food, nightly, and a solid happy hour Wednesday through Sunday." - Clair Lorell

Where to Drink the Best Martinis in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"It’s the wrap-around bar that takes over most of the restaurant, the dim lighting, and the live jazz that gives off all the sultry James Bond vibes at Bombay Club. The martini there is more of a mood, and not drinking one feels almost illegal." - Adriana Lopez

Dead Rabbit NYC Cocktail Bar Will Open New Site in New Orleans - Eater New Orleans

"Dead Rabbit New Orleans will first open as a pop-up during the 2020 Tales of the Cocktail, and launch fully a few months later. Muldoon said New Orleans has “everything we are looking for,” in their expansion. “It’s a fun city, a drinking city. It’s all about hospitality and fun. There will be plenty of tourists in the French Quarter.” The Conti Street address for Dead Rabbit New Orleans, which has not yet been named, apparently shares similarities with the original bar. “It’s a tri-level space, like 30 Water Street,” McGarry told Drinks International. “The first floor will be mostly standing, but will continue upstairs which will be seated and has an outside space. There will be space for 120 people with about 30-40 people on the third floor.”" - Clair Lorell

Google
After some online searching, the restaurant came highly recommended. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. Our waitress seemed rushed and not particularly friendly. She mentioned that there was only one burger left in the kitchen, so she’d check if it was still available. After confirming it was, my daughter ordered the burger without cheese and asked for the vegetables and dressings on the side. When the burger arrived, it was regularly prepared with no attention to the special requests. While the service left much to be desired, the live music was a nice touch and added some enjoyment to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food and service didn’t meet our expectations.

Google
Superb. Such a fine place to dine! Im from Atlanta for the superbowl and it was amazing! Love the food and the staff! Everyone was great.

Google
Nice people, space is a little aged. Food is fun. Got all tacos. Pork belly was fine. Cauliflower was really good. Fish tacos were a mixed bag. I can confidently say thisnis one of the better places to eat near bourbon st. Give it a shot!

Google
From an inventive menu, eclectic descriptions and a nice name like The Bombay Club made us Goto to this Indian restaurant which seemed very inviting after looking up on Google but Sadly the experience was utter disappointment. From the bar tender girl having thrown her backpack on one of the bar stools to the dirty dishrag and the cleaner spray bottle on the Countertop and the cold inattentive service from the servers it was an unpleasant experience. The drinks and food were nothing to write about and the tattered menu with dilapidated interior shows that this place needs a complete overhaul. Seems like it must have been a really place in the yesteryears and has fallen into despair over the years. Much better options in NOLA!

Google
Food was delicious! Big portions, fab service. Places looks a little outdated inside but honestly don’t be put off - food was lovely and cocktails super tasty too.

Google
Pretty cool place, we almost didn't go in but decided to give it a try. The happy hour menu was what attracted us. The drinks were good, service was good, and the food was really good. Highly recommend the dirty martini salad, so good. I'd skip the bramble drink though and get the French 76 instead.

Google
Service was excellent, at the bar and at the table. Food was pretty good, but pricey for what you get. The shrimp and grits was $28 and was like 5 shrimp and half a cup of grits. The happy our stuff was by far the best deal. The white sauce that came with the Brussels sprouts had zero flavor. My girl liked her happy hour drinks.

Swathi Chandrasekaran

Google
Not a lot of vegetarian options - but everything we tried was delicious! Curried cauliflower tacos, garlic and herb seasoned fries, Caesar salad! The mango lassi mousse was too tart for our taste. The drinks were great! The service was a bit lacking - we didn't get our cutlery for a while, and weren't served any water. The music that started at 8 was amazing!

Yelp
Excellent service. Delicious food, different from typical New Orleans fare. Some Indian dishes, as you might guess. Just the right spice and not greasy. Even the salads were unusual and excellent. Unlike most New Orleans, it's quiet enough that you can hear the rest of the table. We're locals and this one is underrated.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place as it's been on my radar over the years and knew they have some great happy hour specials. It's got a funky/fun lounge vibe with a large bar that was packed for happy hour. I'll just say it the service was BAD or perhaps overwhelmed. While nice they just weren't available they seem to be running all over the place and not have assigned sections so it took about 30 min for our server to even greet us and then still wouldn't take an order when we said we were ready (other tables next to use experienced the same). This didn't really work as happy hour was almost over and we had a show to get to. Eventually we got our orders in and then tracked her down to get a second round of drinks before it ended. The food was pretty good and it did come out efficiently. When we asked for the bill the drinks didn't reflect the happy hour pricing so needed to get another server to correct it. On my way out I went to use the restroom. The men's room had no toilet paper at all. I asked if they could replenish it and someone brought in a giant roll of industrial kitchen paper towels. I told the bartender you might want to remedy that or your toilet is going to be clogged. Needless to say I was not impressed with the experience. I might try again but go mid week and hope they can handle things better then.

Yelp
Went in for happy hour and I liked the decor and theming and the look of the menu items. But the quality of the actual drinks were not great. We both had hangovers by midnight from the drinks we had here at 5 pm. The mango pudding dessert we got was lovely though, and the small salad was decent.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious! Lots of vegetarian friendly options and prices weren't too bad. Loved the happy hour items!
google avatar

Yelp
The place was small and had classy vibes. Their happy hour cocktails were good, where I had the roffignac. I also tried the alligator sausage. They were not lying about "small" bites but the sausage was good. I would not mind going back for the happy hour and if you need a break from all the craziness from Bourbon St.

Yelp
Came here for galentines dinner. Made a reservation and staff were friendly. I didn't take any photos of the food but the arugula salad and burger were great! Just didn't understand two different pricing with the same menu. Happy hour is not during holidays.

Yelp
Craft Drinks, Pub Vibe Really liked the atmosphere here. It was a 2:00 on a Saturday, so may get more lively ‍ Nice music in the background and attentive staff. Asked for a recommendation and ordered the Baroness Clementine and an All Shook Up. Delish for both a first time try. Want to come back with a group and get one of the tables to the side with curtains. Would make a cool private birthday spot.

Yelp
Great date night spot that is very different than the rest of the bars in the French quarter. One of my favorites in the City. Excellent service and bartenders.
google avatar

Stanley K.

Yelp
Food was amazing!!! Service was decent enough. But drinks are kind of meh. Was told that they have live music at 8pm daily. But unfortunately our reservation was at 6pm, so we were out of there before 8pm. They have credit card surcharge as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the happy hour and drinks. Courteous and attentive staff. The happy hour rules, $5 drinks. I also love the old school music and I've heard some of the bands also which are quite good
google avatar

Yelp
Great happy hour with $5 small plates and $5 cocktails! Can't be beat! Blackout bramble! And Roffignac!

Great Ambiance on our vacation to New Orleans! Very cool and slightly romantic vibe inside!

Yelp
The ploughman board was great. Friendly staff. Excellent music. Not too loud. A lovely evening out for a fair price.

Yelp
It's sad what has happened to this place, I've seen some incredible performances here. Five stars for the bartender and the entertainment. They were flawless. The issue is the ambiance, the lights in this place were so bright I felt like we were on stage. I asked the bartender to turn the lights down and they made an attempt but it was clear they didn't know how to create an atmosphere because they adjusted the light so much that it really just came back as bright as they were before. I felt bad for the employees and entertainment, they were both incredible but whoever is managing this space needs to be fired. Whoever owns this place needs to spend an evening there to see what everyone else is experiencing.

Yelp
We came in to have dinner & drinks. Had made it there a bit early for our reservation, so we planned to sit at the bar and eat there. There was literally only one other couple in this place at the time. Our drinks were good but after getting those, we apparently turned invisible. Again, no one really in here. We finished our drinks and decided to go eat someplace else. Not even an afterthought from any of the staff. Again, drinks were good but not much else candidly.

Yelp
Great place, great food and drinks a NOLA must visit, great live music and ambiance. It's a little hidden

Yelp
They were very accommodating for our large brunch group. The British pub vibe is awesome, but the food is far more NOLA, at least for brunch. Almost everyone in our group had the bottomless mimosas! Great deal on them, by the way. We started with some chips (great) and beignet (mediocre) as shareables. The beignet are mini, and only five to an order. At five (I asked about the quantity first), I thought it was a good deal. Also, the pastry was way too dense and heavy for a beignet. I had the Ploughman's Board. As it was on the menu as a shareable, and $18, I expected more. It was overloaded on the pickled onions (gross) and pickles & very stingy on the meats (prosciutto). While the Stilton was excellent, there was no jam included - only chutney (completely flavorless). The bananas foster French toast was mostly berries, rather than, you know, bananas. With those complaints out of the way, the rest of the group ordered either corned beef has , shirted eggs, and burger (only available well done). The ciabatta was not to be found under the shirted eggs, but I guess otherwise everything was okay. Considering we were the only table in the dining room, service insanely slow. Our server promised go cups of mimosas, but the n clearly disappeared to smoke a j, based on his aromatic quality when he finally did come back. All in all, it was nice not to be pressed for time (as no one else was there), and the chef came out to thank us for our patronage. It was a good experience but not "great."

Yelp
Absolutely love the Bombay club. It's such a dark warm yet fancy atmosphere. The service is always very fast and friendly. Drinks are served in beautiful glasses with all the frills. Sounds like an expensive place and yes it can be but the Happy Hour menu makes it all doable. We had 2 cocktails, bite sized Boudin Balls, Pork Belly and split a charcuterie board. Plenty of food and drinks for under $50.00.

Yelp
We came here while in New Orleans for a few days. It popped up on the list of happy hours for the weekend. The bar was a bit crowded so we sat at a booth. I will say the decor inside was unique and different so that was a plus. The happy hour menu only had 5 cocktails on it, literally each drink had a different liquor in it. It took awhile for the bartender to make our drinks so we just got one and left. My drink the blackout bramble was good a bit on the tart side. Also the display of the drinks were nice. Just wish they had a better variety of happy hour drinks, think they put too much emphasis on fancy cocktails.

Yelp
The restaurant was not busy and they had enough staff there. We got slow and inconsistent service, no drink refills, rushed order taking, dirty dishes not picked up and bad food. This place used to be a gem in service, good presentation and taste. The $38 steak came with breakfast potatoes and the steak had no char and not much taste. The dessert sauce was rancid and the cake was not fresh. The burger bread was dry. The tacos with naan bread were a miss. The beef had little flavor. We got comped on the dessert. The host sat us right behind her station when the restaurant was mostly empty. She would flip her hair on my guest. The place is nice but lacks the caring touch it used to have.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Excellent happy hour, great courtyard and fantastic food right in the middle of the quarter. My boyfriend and I got here frequently and usually sit in the courtyard which has a nice ambiance with a fountain and is rarely crowded. The only downside is they do allow smoking out there. The meet your maker is a phenomenal take on a Manhattan. They recently added more food and vegetarian/vegan options to the menu which is very much appreciated. The cauliflower naan tacos were fantastic as was the Brussels sprout salad with just the right amount of truffle oil. They also have live jazz most nights which is always incredible!

Yelp
Everything about The Bombay Club is wonderful: Food Service Ambiance Tierra IS the benchmark for service excellence! If you're fortunate enough to have her wait on you, you're in for a fabulous evening. We ordered everything Tierra suggested and I'm so glad we did, as the food was beyond delicious. I can't rave enough about this place. I especially love that you can carry on a conversation, as the tables are situated in such a way that you feel "cocooned" in quiet luxury. So many things make The Bombay Club #1 on my list of favorite restaurants. Try it, you'll see

Yelp
Ok we haven't been here since pre-COVID, and were not surprised to find it's still just as awesome! They have an awesome brunch with bottomless, clutch happy hour, and then just great food and drinks all times of the day. Last night they had live music too, which I think happens frequently. Swanky classy vibes with low lighting are right up our alley! Last night, for drinks we tried the blueberry yum (light, refreshing, not overly sweet, just an essence of blueberry), cucumber drank (super fresh, relatively light, very cucumber which I thoroughly enjoyed), Paloma (also refreshing, high quality tequila so good tequila flavor without nasty burn), me rattlesnake (light tasty whiskey drink the hubs enjoyed). For food, we got the hummus (so tasty, and the crispy chickpeas on top added perfect textural variety), and the Brussel sprouts (holy yum-the sweet Chile oil was amazing, great texture and flavor). We will definitely be back. Anybody who enjoys live jazz and swanky vibes should go here immediately-and honestly, who doesn't? Go now, thank me later.

Yelp
Felt like a dive bar, they didn't have eggs the day I was there so I wasn't able to get any drink I wanted...pretty disappointed. Felt like the drinks I got were just college style drinks...

Yelp
I've been to Bombay Club a handful of times in the past and used to enjoy it for their happy hour specials and snacks. However, my most recent visit this past Friday was a huge disappointment. Despite their sign out front advertising happy hour, we were informed upon arrival that there was no happy hour that day, which was frustrating. To make matters worse, the food was disappointing as well. The boudin balls were cold on the inside, which was a big letdown. Additionally, the price listed on the menu for the boudin balls did not match what we were charged. The only saving grace was the po' boy, which was actually quite good. Service was also slow, which was frustrating considering the restaurant was not very crowded. All of these factors combined made for a very disappointing experience, especially since I had brought out of town guests with me. Overall, I was very disappointed with my most recent visit to Bombay Club and won't be returning. While I used to enjoy their happy hour and snacks in the past, the poor food quality and slow service were major letdowns. The only good thing was the po' boy, but it wasn't enough to redeem the experience. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant/bar to anyone looking for a quality dining experience in New Orleans.

Yelp
We came here for some little bites our first night in NOLA! We got sat very quickly but it did take a while for our server to come over. I think it was due to the fact we were in an enclosed table so you couldn't really see us unless you passed by! After we had service, the waitress was fast and on top of taking care of us! The foods we tried were the Boudin Balls, Bombay Chips and the Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding. I 100% recommend the Boudin Balls and Bombay Chips! I wish I knew how they made the vinegar aioli dipping sauce because it was phenomenal. Only thing I don't recommend is the bread pudding.. it was hard and chewy and not soft at all. We had two bites and then the spoon would no longer cut through. We weren't mad at all and would 100% still recommend coming here!
google avatar

Ella A.

Yelp
We were actually thinking about changing our plans given the horrid reviews on this place, but decided to try it out and take a chance. We were pleasantly surprised. Our server was attentive and kept our drinks full and our orders coming out as fast as possible. We tried some of the happy hour special $5 drinks and they were different but good. We also had the naan and chips appetizers and the Gumbo. The food was okay, but the gumbo was definitely not comparable to some of the great gumbos you can get in town. We ended with the caramel bread pudding which was good. The coffee is chicory coffee, so if you are not a chicory fan, either skip the coffee or ask for a ton of cream. We would come back for happy hour or the nightly music.
google avatar

Kent N.

Yelp
This isn't my first time at the Bombay Club for happy hour and won't be my last. Every-time I come, I am greeted almost immediately after I take a seat at the bar. Servers are always extremely friendly and attentive. I had the pleasure of being served by Randi, who is pregnant but still makes sure everyone on her side of the bar is well taken care of. The food is consistently delicious. It always feels very good inside, with lights being dimmed and the live music.
google avatar

Caroline D.

Yelp
We decided to do a "pub crawl" of fancy wine bars around New Orleans. This place was a must for us, mainly because I'm British and my Asian American husband loves all things british ... if you know what I mean. Anyway this place is awesome, great staff great food amazing cocktails. And the decor is on point.

Yelp
Hidden gem for craft cocktails at the Prince Conti Hotel. We were so impressed with the cocktails that we came here twice during our trip. Their happy hour is from 4-7 pm. Their Pimms Cup is amazing and so refreshing! We also really loved the All Shook Up with fresh berries. The lemon drop and the sazerac were fantastic! When we returned for the second time, we had the best old fashioned! If you want great cocktails, this is the place!
google avatar

Connie A.

Yelp
Ok, so a group of 4 of us, girls...birthday celebtation for "Martha". We stayed at the "Prince Conti" and first night went to The Bombay Club night one...met Danny the bartender, Jessica our server (best ever!! Sooo accomodating!! Now we call her our sister) Tori, had him day two, just as good (brother from another mother:) Service and food was amazing!! Met the chef, Tio:) came out to greet us...who does that??? Made us special dishes upon request! We can not express how appreciative we are for their great hospitality and SPECTACULAR food!! If you are in the French Quarter, we highly recommend that you experience The Bombay Club! Love it!!!
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
I've been here less than five minutes. I already have my drink, and it is perfect. Couldn't have asked for better... The liquor selection at this place ranks more than five star. Whoever chooses what the purchase is more than just on their game. They are an aficionado. I appreciate this more than words can. The bartender was welcome and friendly, quick and efficient. The ambience was relaxing, refreshing, cultured, and inviting. I will be back here every single time. I am close enough to get here.
google avatar

Gregg H.

Yelp
Holy cocktails Batman!! This is THE spot for happy hour!!! $5 drinks, WOW! The staff is above and beyond. The cocktails are amazing and there's no shortage of "cocktail" in them! Such an amazing find. Best happy hour ever!

Yelp
Came to this hidden gem for my bachelorette party. Great service, location, drinks and happy hour. They have a great happy hour and many options to choose from. I loved my slushy alcohol drink! Ask for Tierra as your server when you go.
google avatar

Rahul S.

Yelp
This is the hidden gem in french quarters. Go after 8pm. Get a cocktail - sazerac and enjoy jazz in the quiet of the club. Menu is very limited in options - being Bombay club i expected more indian fare
google avatar

Alexandra Jae S.

Yelp
We stopped at the Bombay Club for a drink and dessert after a long day! Tiara was our server and she was such a delight! She got us set up in the courtyard, we ordered a couple drinks. I asked for her opinion on the 2 dessert choices, she did me one better, she created her favorite dessert for me, it was the chocolate mousse but Tiara's way so it had the health topping and it was just specular! I will be dreaming about it for a long time to come! And she was just the cutest! I think if I return any time soon I'd ask for her because she was just such a good vibe! It was a beautiful night out and the courtyard was just lovely! We met a couple from NY and they told us about the cigar menu there and we shared our favorites from the city.
google avatar

Lisete J.

Yelp
Do not plan to have your reservation honored. The staff is rude and the place isn't worth the negative experience.
google avatar

Joanna T.

Yelp
After a disappointing failed happy hour at Broussards, we found Bombay Club and decided to give it a try. Good call! BC is tucked away in the courtyard of the Prince Conti hotel, and opens at 4. Inside, expect a clubby British private club atmosphere with a small patio for nice days. We opted to sit at the bar and had great service from delightful bartender AJ. Right now, no food because of COVID but there's a happy hour most days that nets you $7 craft cocktails (Pimms Cup, Sazeracs, etc), cheap beers and $6 wine including a good quality sparkling. The drinks are well made, tasty and cheap and the staff is friendly and fun. It's a classy place so leave the beads and hand grenade cups outside (in the garbage bin for Gods sake).

G-Man R.

Yelp
Roaches !!!!! Run don't sit in this bar/club. My wife and I came in at 10:30pm on Friday 4/12/24. We ordered a couple drinks at the Bar when we noticed another patron slam the drink menu down on the bar and then my wife noticed why. Coming in our direction was a roach. My wife was quicker and killed him. We immediately got up and left. When roaches are evident in a busy area it means pest control is non existent. I didn't have the patience to snap a picture.
google avatar

Kellen C.

Yelp
Atmosphere was chill great private booth where anything can go down when the curtains close. The love music reminds me of the speak easy back in the day.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Excellent service and a fascinating history. The place is a walk back into history with good food. We had fish and fish and chips, a fantastic beef and mushroom pie, chicken Marsala fusion and when you add in happy hour cocktails this was a a fabulous find in the French quarter
google avatar

Cibel M.

Yelp
My husband and thought we could grab a few drinks at the bar; however, even though the bar was EMPTY, the hostess said we had to wait 30 mins because we had no reservations. I said once again we just wanted to sit at the bar but the message was not received I guess. Let's say we went elsewhere. Thanks but we will never come back here.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
Truly a hit or miss bar. Sometimes it's a great experience others it's below average. They tend to have good bartenders but recently it has been below their ten year average. Maybe it's the I going shortage of qualified employees but that excuse is getting old. Out last visit had servers who didn't have the ability to put two tables together or recall who ordered why drinks.
google avatar

Alfred J.

Yelp
Had a really nice time during happy hour here. I had drinks and a couple of small bites. The pork belly and the boudin were awesome. My time here was exponentially made better by Grace who was tending the bar. She was personable, engaging and great to talk to. I like the atmosphere here as well. Oh yeah I had a burger too that was accompanied by garlic fries that Grace recommended and they did not disappoint. I would not recommend Prince Conti to anyone because of the horribly rude young lady at the checkin desk, but the Bombay Club by itself is very nice.

Robert C.

Yelp
Wonderful service. Team was fantastic - David, Daniel, Angela, Ro, Maggie. We appreciated the conversations and the drinks and food were great! Thank you!

John W.

Yelp
Nothing but positive things to say about The Bombay Club. Our server Patricia provided excellent service and insightful menu recommendations, the food was phenomenal as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and will be returning soon with friends.

Lindsay L.

Yelp
$50 for 2 terrible cocktails (that I should have sent back) and a slice of cake. One of the worst dirty martinis I've had.

Yelp
We were celebrating two birthdays. Our wait staff completely neglected us (Jessica). We were there for 2 hours and had 1 round of drinks and apps because we couldn't find our server to get another round or even put in entree orders. The drinks we ordered had sat on the bar until the ice was melted and we couldn't find our server anywhere in the restaurant. The restaurant did not appear busy for a 7:15 reservation. No apologies were made. I stood at the bar for 10 minutes to ask for our bill a little after 9pm. We were humiliated in front of my in laws. We had to go down the street to get our birthday meals. Hoping this was just an off night.
