Google
We stopped in because we knew they had a pop up restaurant in there today. We only got drinks from the pub. They were very good and the waitress was helpful by letting us sample a cider from draft before we committed to it. The atmosphere is great too. They have lots of books on the wall as decor and have card games if you want to play games with your party. Try the trivia card game. It was a hidden gem. I would gladly return again for a drink again.

Google
Delicious food - really well done! Atmosphere is also top notch! Board games are on site as well which may, if you’re in the mood, lead to some legit laughs. Highly recommended

Google
Great spot for a good meal and drinks! Right next to The Drunken Unicorn venue, free parking (limited space) Board games and card games are availble for entertainment. The Bookhouse Burger is on point!!!

Went here on a Tuesday evening and it had great vibes, drinks, and food from their popup menu. The decor is really nice and the whole place is comfortable and cozy. I can’t wait to be back. The poutine is the best in the city!

Google
Great older pub. Cozy feel inside and large patio outside. I was there on a night they had a pop up guest chef, which I love when bars/restaurants open themselves up to do this. (So photos of food are so so fed popular.) the cocktail I had was awesome, some spicy tequila drink. And a large section of beer. Look forward to going back for a drink. Oh and the staff were fantastic. This place was crazy busy and they did everything to accommodate and make it a special experience.

Google
Great Location! It was between this and another spot and I’m glad my friend chose this location. The burger was DELICIOUS!!!! the ambience was nice and chill. Definitely will be back 😎

Google
Not a nerd bar but a bar run by nerds. Going to miss Chef Cesar's cooking, Angela's cocktails, and impromptu emo sing-a-longs. Ponce won't be the same but at least I made some life-long friendships from this little hole in the wall. RIP Bookhouse.

Google
Definitely a cool place for chilling with friends after dinner at night. Especially it's really convenient to the Ponce city market and the beltline. We just love the vibes here. Staff are friends and cool, no complains about the food and drinks.

Yelp
Ok so I love Bookhouse Pub. It is just a fun chill pub on Ponce de Leon. They have a surface level parking lot that they share with MJQ and other business. I try to go on random weekdays so the parking is never too full. Their patio is nice on a sunny day. You get to see all the activity going on on Ponce but it's far back to where it's slightly secluded. You can order at the bar or they have servers that come to your table. Their food is cheap and simple. It's mostly burgers, sandwiches, etc. but it's good! I usually try to come when they have a pop-up chef to make the options more exciting. Service is friendly and the vibe is quirky. Apparently it is a Twin Peaks themed bar. Sometimes they have a DJ, which I actually don't mind because it's usually more chill music and not too loud (I'm old ok). I can always count on Bookhouse for a good time!

Yelp
Came to The Bookhouse Pub on a Tuesday night for the Ganji pop-up. There is some set aside free parking for the Bookhouse Pub right out front, but it does get pretty full easily. My boyfriend and I were carded our front before getting seated. We got two beers and ordered our food very easily. Server was attentive. Besides the pop-up, not sure if they sell food, but they do have plenty of items on draft and etc. The vibe is fine honestly, but not really my thing. Kinda a grungey, run down vibe. Giving it 4 stars as service was good and was clean!

Yelp
E X P E R I E N C E Came on a Wed night to grab a quick snack before mjq, as a table of two. It was 75% full inside and on the patio, where we had originally wanted to sit anyway, was 25% full. Patio has high top seating. Social distancing was definitely doable if on the patio and likely doable inside even if seating is full. F O O D Chili cheese fries $8: avg. Have had better. Tastes like your avg bar food. It's a good sized portion though. Redbull $5 B A T H R O O M Females has one stall, clean. S E R V I C E Our server was very kind and responsive. She checked on us often and made sure we got what we needed. Also she was very pretty and had amazing wavy shoulder length hair (not that it matters lool). She was wearing a mask but masks are not enforced for customers or employees. P R I C E 18 incl tip.

Yelp
Staff is so friendly! Very lowkey spot with good food and great drinks! If Angela is bartending, get a mixed drink! She's so creative and always makes me something I love!

Yelp
Cozy little place in a hidden little location. Limited but nice parking lot which is always helpful in Atlanta. Love the feel of the place- small, dark and wooden with low lights and art. Limited space but great for a cold night or cozy date with friends or loved ones. We used to go here for tiki Tuesday to get the free fun cup but I've since moved away from sugary drinks- they have a nice pink and liquor selection too. Pretty fair prices. The food while sometimes very fried and pub-like is very veggie friendly. Their burger is decent and I like the cheese plate, hummus and soups/sides. Tastes homemade. Service varies for sure.

Yelp
I am going to give everyone my honest and respectful feedback without being too harsh. I am big on respect and customer service, especially if someone is choosing to spend their monies in your establishment, I work in hospitality so here are few things that stood out to me. To the gentlemen sitting at the door greeting thank you for welcoming us in, it was a major plus but the service me and my team experienced after having an exciting night and getting amazing news, was beyond disappointing and downright uncouth. Where was the southern hospitality at this establishment with our waitress? I did not get the young woman's name but she was blond haired with black framed glasses. From my first interaction with her, she was sour and distasteful, which immediately turned me off. Don't tell me and I quote "You need to wait, because of you I'm going to forget all the drinks I need to put in!" Here is an idea write them down. Ma'am I'm asking for suggestions, and you are the waitress you're suppose to be of assistance in giving suggestions when patrons have questions, not seem as though you're bothered for people asking questions. While rolling your eyes behind your black framed glasses. Then to come back around and tell someone you're not going to have your bartender make a drink because it's about to close.. that is what your suppose to do during last call. Another pro, The bartender from what I gathered was very nice for giving me glasses of water for me and my friend! Then the courtesy speech at the end of the night was ok. But, I didn't like the DJ coming around demanding tips from everyone. It seem pretty tacky. I understand being paid for your artistry but not in that fashion. I started to give him some money, but then he got slick with his mouth and called himself talking about my outfit, which was not cool when your asking for money to get home. Jokes I get, I'm pretty humorous myself, but I wasn't feeling that. For me I will not be returning here, thank you for the experience, just a little tip be nicer and you'll get tipped more. Not telling anyone not to visit, maybe your experience would be better them mine. Enter at your own risk. Cheers.

Yelp
We've passed by this place several times trying to go to other restaurants, it always seems packed and seems to be a local favorite. Last night we ended up here for a late night bite. Due to the many bars/restaurants in the area parking was near impossible on a Saturday night so we parked on a side street and walked over. This place definitely lives up to its name. There's a collection of books perched above each side of the restaurant. The high top tables feature tree stumps instead of legs, which I found quite uncomfortable to sit at to be honest. I can't remember what our waitresses name was, I don't think she gave it to us, but she was very nice and offered her recommendations. The menu is interesting. The appetizers and sides are actually full sized meals and I'm not mad about it! We each ordered the wingy app (10 wings each). We ordered the sesame and hoisin barbecue. I preferred the hoisin bbq but both were A-OK in my opinion. I also ordered a side kale salad (which is not a premium side, btw) and was pleasantly surprised by how large and delicious it was! It was a simple salad. Kale mixed with radishes, carrots, and cherry tomatoes tossed in a delicious balsamic vinaigrette. Definitely recommend. I haven't seen the other apps, but if they're anything like what we had -- the serving sizes are definitely shareable and more than enough! I like that a lot. They also have vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian options on their menu. Would go back to try something different on their menu.

Yelp
My friends brought me here on a Friday night after I landed in Atlanta! There's not many tables inside so we did wait around 25 minutes for a table. There's also covered patio sitting, which is where we ended up. Prior to sitting down we hung around the bar and had some beers. They were tasty and served at the right temperature. To eat we shared an order of blue cheese chips. So damn delicious! I'm pretty sure the chips were homemade as well. On top of the chips was huge blue cheese crumbles, tomato, cilantro and bacon. It was so yummy I'm salivating thinking about it. Mmm To eat I ordered grilled cheese and added tomato. It was a very yummy grilled cheese. With the grilled cheese came fries and a thin tomato dipping sauce. It was so delicious and creative. Like grilled cheese and tomato soup...but a sauce instead of soup. Fries were good as well. Service was just okay, not terrible, but just okay. Prices are decent. For the grilled cheese, two beers and the chips it was only $20.

Yelp
A great spot for drinks and food! The servers are wonderful. The lighting is dim and cozy, I really enjoy the decor.

Suellen T.

Yelp
Food and service amazing! First time and we all agree we have to go back! Dev was our server and he took excellent care of us plus they will do their utmost to accommodate any allergy issues...it was my birthday and atmosphere outside, blue cheese burgers cooked to perfection and an extensive beer and wine list! Check it out you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Great cozy little den for nerds and geeks alike. The food is comfort pub food and the staff is friendly and eclectic. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Loved this place! The vibe was excellent for a small intimate group or just a place to chill. The beer selection is great and I loved the style of the bar. The Himalayan salt lamps and books were great touches. As soon as we sat down we were immediately greeted by a server and offered water. Such an awesome vibe with that service. The prices are great, and the staff are awesome. It's a little hard to stop from the road, but there is parking right in front, and different styles of seating. Not the best for a large party, but good for a group of 5-7 in my opinion.

Yelp
We decided on a random Friday night out. The location was close to a few bars/music locations. I loved the atmosphere of a old bookstore converted. We had great food suggested by the waiter and they had games for us to play. Definitely will be back.

Aria B.

Yelp
This was my first time at a bar. I don't like loud music or flashy lights and if you're just like me this is the place for you! The walls have books around the top, and board games to play, there is a fireplace going which gives such a homey feel. Lord of the rings was even playing ! The food was good! I got wings and chili cheese fries and both of these came with way more food than I was expecting. The drinks were good and the bartender was very helpful and sweet. I will 1,000% be coming back. :)

Yelp
Went here with my wife on Friday night for some drinks and apps at the bar. Atmosphere. The atmosphere is great. Intimate restaurant with a great looking bar and dining area. Lots of wood. Dr Who action figure and other sweet decor. Not very noisy which is nice. Somewhat unexpected given its appearance from the outside. Plenty of parking outside. Snacks. Mac and Cheese. Okay. Nothing worth ordering twice though. Poutine. Decent. Not enough salt. Chicharrones. Okay. Not really much better than pork skins you can buy at 7/11. Overall the food was a bit bland. Drinks. Great beer menu with 10+ beers on tap. Classy bar that allows for a nice quiet drink for a date. We will give it another shot.

Yelp
This place has really legit cocktails and food. I've tried a ton of stuff on their menu, but recently, and most notably, I finally tried the mushroom poutine and boy... was it good. It's smothered in gravy but not too much, and the cheese curds and nice and melty. They also have it with beef, but if you're a mushroom fan GET THE MUSHROOM! Their cocktails are nice and boozy and delicious. I'm not sure if they still do tiki Tuesdays, but if they don't, they should bring it back!

Yelp
With four or five visits over the years since it opened, I've always had a good experience. The reason I don't have Bookhouse on the regular rotation is I hate dealing with Ponce traffic during the times I normally hit a pub. Awesome veggies - this is one of the better vegetarian pubs around. They don't have a large menu but they do it right, mostly. Except the arugula salad, which is a bit too heavy on the rabbit food and light on the other stuff. Good wings. Hot is not all that hot but the flavor is there. Chef Liu's potstickers - really nice addition to the menu. Draft beer list is normally solid. Music can be pretty loud here. This last visit, we asked the bartender to turn it down. He did but it was still loud. We had a large group gathering here a number of years ago and that went well. They blocked off the area to the left as you walk in, allowing a semi-private event. Recommended.

Ray E.

Yelp
Menu has changed for the worst! The burger was a prefab frozen joke serve with a bag of chips in a carnival paper tray for $13.00????! They had only one wine Merlot ? My draft beer wasn't cold! Covid is it an excuse for this lack luster Friday out

Yelp
Wow! So I wish I could give it NO stars. A friend of mine and I walked in this pub last Saturday. I immediately liked the atmosphere it looked cozy like Cheers. Everything was fine until we sat down and our waitress approached the table. She had a smug look on her face and kept it real short with us wasn't friendly at all. She went to grab us waters and I asked for a straw she just walked away. I didn't know if she was going to get it or not. She came back and handed it to me and her demeanor was annoyed and disgusted. So, by this time I looked around to see that my friend and I were the only Afro Americans in this joint. The plot thickens... My friend ordered chicken strips. He was eating them and found a bone or a hard piece of something inside and was disgusted, and asked her to take them off his bill. CHICKEN STRIPS! Shouldn't have nothing hard inside, mkay bish!Do you know this girl asked for the bone . He literally spit out the chicken in a napkin so she insisted for him to dig through the chewed up chicken and get the bone out and she took it to the back to show the other racist bishes what it was before taking it off the bill. She came Back and reported her DNA test findings that it was just cartilage, but would take it off. You mean to tell me she really went back there and showed them and looked at it?... just hate all over her face and ugliness. I felt uncomfortable the entire time and couldn't wait to leave. This waitress was evil and her management was not accommodating or they would've stepped up and stopped sending her to the table so she basically represented the whole establishment for me. This was my first profound racist experience. And I'll never go back to this place ever again in my entire life.

Yelp
Such a cool bar and grill. Atmosphere is on point, and the food is surprising. It's all homemade and breaks through the noise of typical bar food. I looooooved my chorizo burger. So perfect.

Yelp
I have never given a bad review before but I guess there is a first time for everything. My fiancé and I dropped in Saturday night after spending a lovely evening out and about in the city and were more than disappointed with our experience. When we entered the hostess seemed annoyed we were even there. We opted to sit at the bar for drinks and food. The bartender was unwelcoming and exceptionally snide. My fiancé has a thick accent and tried to order something not listed on the menu. Instead of offering him other options the bartender was condescending towards him. I ended up asking the hostess if we could be moved to a table. We moved thinking our experience would get better and we were wrong. Looking back we should have just left after the bartender incident but we have "the glass is half full" outlooks. Once seated our server gave us food menus but then she never came back to take our order. We ended up having to wave down another server who told us she was off the clock but would take our order. When we were finally served our food, the chicken wings tasted as though they were days old. We let our server know the wings weren't fresh and she said she would have to go get a manager. When the manager came he was extremely combative and confrontational. He never offered to have the kitchen remake the food or to ask us if we wanted to order something different eat. He rudely let us know he could "discount" the wings but not comp them and then snatched them off the table. After that behavior my fiancé let him know he could keep the wings and that we didn't need a discount. We paid full price for everything and left. The overall experience was horrible. Customer service was nonexistent. I would highly suggest not wasting your time or money.

Yelp
Echoing one of the recent reviews that the service was quite bad. To be fair, it was the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend, but we showed up well before closing and felt unwelcome. Upon walking in, one bartender was walking to a table and he yelled "kitchen's closed!" at high volume while not making eye contact with us or breaking stride. Then, at the bar, when I asked the other bartender what time they were closing at (because everyone seemed agitated and we had told friends to meet us there), she stated the closing time and added that they were closing "much sooner" that night. When it came time for last call (yes, it was sooner), it was expressed more along the lines of "last call!!! (PLEASE LEAVE NOW!)." Not the attitude I'd expect at a place called the Bookhouse.

Yelp
Great decor, it's classy meets geeky books. Lots of nice wood adorns the walls and sometimes they decorate them with art from local artists. You'll see bookshelves adorn the walls too like a crown molding of books. Perfect place for a drink or date. They offer lots of craft beers and bears on top ranging from Beers $4-$10 Mixed cocktails from $7-$10 I tried a dark and stormy and it was perfect. The food is amazing. I try something different each time and I am never disappointed. Food and app prices range from $6-$17 pending what you get I got Shrimp and Grits- It is garnished with tomatoes, and pimento cheese. It was very good, had nice large shrimp plopped on top. Generous portions. Also tried the Burger with pimento cheese and a fried egg on top. This was a nice juicy burger with fries. Def hit the spot.

Yelp
Having just returned from a trip to Quebec city and experiencing the birthplace of poutine, we were stoked to see this rare find on the menu - Bookhouse chef pulls together the perfect mix of eclectic but homey menu items. We had poutine with braised beef, wings half sesame basil half hot (both excellent), shrimp and grits with a Cajun twist, and the funnel cake. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant. Great sound system, indie rock electronic. Books lining the walls and salt lamps to light your table. Couldn't say better things when in need for a place to grub and chill that feels like a (glorified) rustic, home away from home.

Yelp
Came here for drinks. Server was rude and got our order wrong. Didn't want to bring us waters. The kitchen closed after we ordered but only one of three dishes were brought out. The server didn't offer to fix the issue and just said "sorry the kitchen is closed." Food was fine but really poor service from the server. Felt like she wanted to get us off her table so she could leave. Rude vibe. Place was still going to be open for hours.

Yelp
Went into the bookhouse pub kind of late after a day at the football game. We walked in and they were doing last call. Joel still let us order a round even though we felt bad. He was so funny and kind and gave us other places to go that would be open later. I definitely want to come back sometime. Maybe just not so late! Thank you Joel!!!

Yelp
A perfect neighborhood bar with good bar food and great local beer selection. We go all the time and don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Yelp
After a really crappy final class on a Friday, I decided I needed a pick-me-up. Touted for its selection of bourbons at a very friendly cost, it fit my teacher budget just right. We were able to find the establishment hiding in the corner of the plaza after scouring the parking lot for a spot. The Bookhouse Pub has that hole-in-the-wall feel down pat. The dim lighting, lots of wood, and maybe reaching double-digit tables(?) made me wonder what it would feel like if it ever gets packed. Fortunately, my wife and I eat dinner early and it wasn't very full when we sat. Upon perusing of the drink menu, I went with a neat pour of Four Roses well worth the $16. Truthfully, I wonder how they haven't sold out yet. I'm not about to spill the secret if it's not already out. I recommend the short rib poutine. It was delicious! It had a rustic taste with the sauce for the meat, yet the cheese made for a refined touch. The sesame basil wings has a nice glaze with great flavor. Service was on top of our every need during our dining experience. I'm definitely returning for more very soon.

Yelp
Great gathering place! Drinks and food are delish. Location is perfect. You can walk to hotels and bars.

Yelp
Really enjoy the vibe and feel to this place. Like others have mentioned it's classy nerdery at its finest. Bit of that Dungeons and Dragons feel to it-- Himalayan salt lamps dangling from the ceiling which beats the plethora of Ikea decorum I spot at every trendy spot across Atlanta. There is also plenty of fandom adorning the walls without being overly glaring. So why the three stars... the food is sadly, just not good. I'm going to quickly hazard a guess the drinks are far better, but I love me some pub food. Bookhouse, however, is probably not gonna be my go to for that fix. We tried a few of the burgers. I'm unsure if my two friend's burgers were any good as they never said, but it was agreed that the chorizo burger and the veg burger were not very tasty. Fries were okay at best. One can argue that it is what it is. Leave a solid haunt alone, but I'd like to say they could make it better. Major kudos on the decor, vibe, and general aesthetic though. I'll definitely have to come back to try some drinks.

Yelp
Very interesting decor and one of the few places in ATL with ample and accessible parking! Service can be a bit slow but the food and drinks are delicious. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. I kept it simple and got the grilled chicken sandwich which I thought was actually delicious. The chicken was seasoned well and wasn't dry at all! Their menu is fairly short which I appreciate as well.

Yelp
AYOOOOO let me tell you about Bookhouse. I've been here countless times over the past four years. More times than I wish I have been, in fact. Any going away party, birthday, or random other event always tends to be here. Maybe I'm just bitter, or too old, or just uncultured - but this place never fooled me one bit. This is the place you bring your employed friends you want to feel cool around. This is where you bring a date and get lost in the noise and the cool book decor that lines the walls that makes you seem extremely intelligent. Like you come there all the time to read a book or something. To be honest, afterwards your apartment probably seems like it has better drinks, food, books, and a better time. This bar is a symptom and a savior for Ponce. The atmosphere here is 10/10 if the person isn't a skeptic a-hole like I am that's wondering why they have a bunch of needless books everywhere with no one reading. The food is expensive and unremarkable. One time I was served potato chips with random crap on it for like 9 bucks. Service is consistently average, and I've only had a problem with it once. The drink menu is extensive, but typical. Green's and Cookout are around the corner, making this a tough sell. Overall: the salt rock lamps didn't give me enough positive ions. Because to be honest, I'd rather be home crushing several bud lights, eating egg tacos, and putting the money I'd save from eating here into a savings account: TWO OUTTA FIVE.

Yelp
great atmosphere and typical selection of Atlanta beer. Food is pretty bad - you're better off cooking at home.

Yelp
This is a convenient place to eat and drink if you're wanting to start out your night near Ponce or the Clermont! It is only about a block and a half from Ponce and the Clermont is right across the street. There aren't many tables, but we were seated right away and our waitress was very friendly. We went on a Saturday night around 7:30 and it was not crowded at all. The food is pretty standard pub food and is reasonably priced. I got the grilled cheese sandwich with French fries and a beer. All were served to me in a timely manner. Next time I'm looking for cheap and filling food in this area, I'll definitely consider coming back to the Bookhouse Pub!

Yelp
NOT RECOMMENDED! I have frequented this establishment since 2015. Last night 03/26/2021 I experienced blatant discrimination, white supremacy and racism. The owner or the handler and his bartenders were engaged in a blatant pattern of discrimination. I requested a drink at the bar and was advised drink orders can be made on the patio. I went on the patio and started a conversation with a couple. The bartender, who is a Caucasian female ignored me for over fifteen minutes. She tended to Caucasian patrons. The other bartender came over and after I flagged her down and took my drink order. When I got the attention of the first bartender she accused me of having an attitude and being rude. The couple I was speaking to - who was also Caucasian stated I did not have an attitude and was shocked by her behavior. It was disgusting. I then was given my tab and noticed I was served well Whiskey when I requested Jameson and Coke. I approached the bartender and asked if my drink could be accommodated. Both bartenders started confronting me and again accusing me of having and attitude and verbally attacking the bartender - ALL FALSE! The entire time I was cordial and polite - and assertive. The fact of the matter - the did not want to serve me. There were ZERO African Americans or other minorities in their establishment and I found this to be an awkward occurrence. The owner stepped in and when I told him I believed I was being discriminated against of my race he then refused to allow me to pay for my drinks and insisted that I leave. Again NOT RECOMMENDED! They do not want African Americans in their establishment and their behavior and actions proved it. Go to FRIENDS on PONCE - they have better drink options and better customer service.

Stopped into The Bookhouse Pub for a few appetizers and drinks. Beating the crowd by arriving early, we were able to snag one of the limited parking spots right in front of the business. The artsy and eclectic (dare I say, kitschy?) décor made for a unique dining and drinking experience - bobble heads, books, stained glass, Himalayan rock salt lights, ornate wood cut-outs, and other assorted knick-knacks. Ordered one of their draft beers - an amber ale, and my wife ordered a draft cider. Ordered the Braised Beef Poutine and Spicy Bleu Cheese Chips. The drinks and food came out reasonably quick. The Poutine was a tad over-salted and there wasn't really much braised beef to speak of. Can one truly call it mozzarella cheese curds if the cheese had completely melted into the fries? I'd be hesitant to call it poutine. Ok, but not impressed. The Spicy Bleu Cheese Chips were equally so-so. While I credit them for the copious amounts of bleu cheese (which I love) and the supremely smoky bacon, the tomatoes didn't really seem to belong and the chipotle sauce, while present, didn't really add much flavor or heat. In other words, both appetizers were good in concept, but lacking in execution. We might've stayed for more food, like their burger, if the apps had impressed more. Instead, we decided to check out what other eats were to be had at nearby Ponce City Market.

Yelp
The draft beers are awesome and the scene is cool undercover bookstore vibe. Come here to chill and chat and grab a bite. The burger is pretty awesome and the fries are solid too.

Yelp
I love the Bookhouse Pub! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this charming joint on Saturday while we were waiting for MJQ to open. We first stepped into Friends bar, but left due to the smoky atmosphere. Bookhouse is not smoky and has a ton of character! I love the Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones figurines everyone and the ambient lighting. I ordered a spicy margarita that was delicious (and nutritious?) It was one of the best cocktails I've had in Atlanta so far. I can envision curling up in a booth here on a weeknight with a journal, or working on a laptop. They also host Magic the Gathering game nights on Mondays, which is something I may look into! Overall, great spot. I am into it.

Yelp
It sounds like the bartender who was such an a hole is gone, please try this place again, the ladies who bartend are lovely, fun, and kind. The cocktails are quite nice for such a casual joint, and there's a great nerd vibe!!! Also my burger was delicious

Yelp
I like this place because it's laid back, can accommodate medium sized groups (4-6 people) with relative ease (some seating, will separate checks, etc), has better than average bar food, has free parking, has outdoor seating, and offers a wide variety of ciders. It also feels a little bit like a scene out of Harry Potter or the Hobbit with the cool geode lamps hanging above the tables. It's kinda cool that they offer dumplings from Buford Highway favorite Chef Liu, but they were out the last time I was there (insert sad face). With the opening of Ponce City Market, it seems like everything in this area is getting increasingly crowded, and Bookhouse has certainly felt that way the last few times I've been. However, this is the kind of spot I'm willing to wait for, and I can only hope the opening of the next "big thing" will reduce the crowds at this little neighborhood spot.

Yelp
I like the food at this placeand the service was good. I wish they menu was more extensive, but the few items they do, they do very well. The burger I had was juicy and flavorful and the drinks were mixed superbly.

Yelp
I'm wickedly behind on my review gamut for our summer (!) trip to Atlanta, so these next few may be speed rounded. First up, our last stop for Saturday evening transpired at Bookhouse Pub. Somewhat amazingly, this was our second stop at a Japanese whisky-friendly joint. The interior is very reminiscent of wood-paneled, national beer drinking establishment Gingerman. Like Gingerman, this is a dimly lit, divey-friendly watering hole. Unlike Gingerman, there's a fully stocked bar. I honestly forget what we ordered - Hibiki Harmony, perhaps? It had been a long night. Nevertheless, if you're looking for Japanese whiskies, this is your huckleberry. Bonus points for carrying Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique; I have to barter with my dad to bring those back from Taiwan.

Yelp
I'm a huge Twin Peaks fan. Huuuuuuuuuuuge! When I was looking for things to do in Atlanta a couple of weeks before visiting I found this via Yelp and read that it was subtly inspired by Twin Peaks. There is of course the name, but inside you can find various stickers and artwork that are Twin Peaks-related. There were also owls, of course. The owls were what they seemed, though. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was playing on the television. That would've made me happy when I was a teenager and it was an earlier episode. I wasn't really there to watch TV, though. At first I got a beer and Chris got a beer and grilled cheese sandwich, which was good. I then asked the server if there were any Twin Peaks-inspired menu. She said that on Mondays they show the new episodes and have drinks with Twin Peaks names and she was sure the bartender probably had some ingredients to make me some. She brought me the list and there was Audrey Horne, Wow Bob Wow, Dr. Jacoby, Fire Walk with Me and one or two more. Luckily, there was a Special Agent Dale Cooper that had a coffee liqueur. I say luckily because I'd told Chris a couple of times that if they didn't have a coffee liqueur-based drink named after Cooper they were fucking up. They did not have a Laura Palmer with ingredients similar to an Arnold Palmer, but whatever. Dale Cooper was who I was most concerned with. That drink was delicious. I had three!

Yelp
Atlanta has such a range of bars to visit that there are places for everyone to visit. On the Ponce side of town there are little pockets of hipster hangout spots with their unique and quirky charm. On one bar hopping night we did not want to wander too far so we found The Bookhouse Pub which was walking distance from my friend's apartment. The Bookhouse Pub is literally what it sounds like. A Pub themed around books and for those that like to read. The décor and furniture is very woodsy as if you are hanging out inside of a tree house. All around the shelves are books and the place is decorated with posters and signs from famous novels. On the night we stopped by there were many flags of the various houses from Game of Thrones. We sat at a table with the Stark flag. While enjoying drinks you can also watch one of the televisions that typically display famous cult shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Star Trek. While we only had some mixed cocktails and beer from their menu I felt it was decently priced and a fun place to start the night. It is a generally calm atmosphere and the people are friendly. I cannot tell you how the food is, but maybe on my next trip to Atlanta I will try it out. Cool chill place I recommend you visit.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start...the lackluster meal itself, or with the after effects I dealt with for 3 straight days. I'll save your stomach in more than one way when I spare you the details of the 3-day food poisoning bout I experienced after eating at this restaurant. However, this place was hardly enjoyable before I started dealing with the food poisoning. I went here with a group of friends and we were able to be seated right away. After perusing the menu, I decided to go with the chicken sandwich and a side of beets. The chicken sandwich was a joke--imagine a piece of frozen chicken that was warmed up in the microwave and then put on a cheap bun with some toppings, and that's pretty much what it was. It was also so small, that it hardly whet my appetite. Unfortunately, the beets were even worse. I LOVE beets and these beets looked and tasted like they had come out of a can and then just sat out somewhere. I can't even begin to describe the odd taste, but needless to say, it was the first time I was not able to finish a side of beets. Add that to the fact that their tables are all nailed down to the floor and not really mobile which made for an awkward seating arrangement for our group of 4 and I had pretty much had it. Overall, the restaurant has some intrigue to it, and I wish you better luck than I had, but in my opinion the food is inedible and is not worth missing a couple days of work over.

Yelp
We were in town for Music Midtown and walked several miles to escape the crowd. We were incredibly pleased to find this place. The books and fictional characters, artwork by Barry Lee, the stained glass (as pictured here), were all amusing to view. We met the owner and the general manager and learned so much about the history of this place, which has a really great vibe. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the planning of the beer selections on the craft beer menu. We were grateful for guidance on new things to try even though in was the end of the night. Phenomenal service. I would definitely go back and I would try this place local or visitor in the area.

Yelp
Loved this place. It was cute, dorky, had great draft beer and food. This pub is a great modern venue with a pint of Atlanta vibe mixed. Ask for their local draft beers and pair it with some great(inexpensive) appetizers. I highly recommend this place.
