"Starting July 6, the Grand Ave. restaurant will offer counter service all day with coffee, tea, pastries, small plates like salmon rilletes, and large dishes like an egg and avocado sandwich; they’ll also serve beer, wine, and cocktails, plus slices of square pizza on the weekend. Counter service breakfast and lunch hours are now 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with weekend brunch and counter service from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday." - Ellen Fort

We hired the venue (cobblers suite) for my 30th Birthday and it was brilliant! The staff were very helpful on the lead up to the event and helped get us some extra tables on the day as well! They allowed us to do our own catering, and supplied crockery etc, and left us to set it up ourselves which we appreciated! Great value for money, and the staffed bar was great too!

I recently visited The Boot and Shoe and had a lovely experience. The place has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient — everything was served promptly and with a smile. I ordered the baked salmon with noodles. The presentation was great, and the salmon itself was delicious — perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The only small downside for me was that the noodles were a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, though, a very enjoyable meal in a pleasant setting.

We had a lovely meal on Sunday, the roasts were really filling. All of the staff were lovely as usual. The young lad running the pub is doing a great job, really friendly and made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely be back for a roast again. It’s becoming our Sunday go to.

This pub was a nice pit stop. We weren’t thrilled with one of the staff members after receiving a frosty reception but the other staff members seemed nice. We had the pizza here, one spicy chicken and one meat feast. They were very filling but I personally found it a bit lacklustre. The atmosphere and decor was very nice and gave a good ambiance.

Arrived here after an hour and a half journey with 4 hungry kids in tow to be told by a rude man at the bar they only take bookings even though it was posted on there social media a few hours before to “pop in for a bite”. I wouldn’t mind but it was empty with no one else eating. Seems a shame to waste custom. However the lovely barmaid who stepped in recommended a lovely place just up the road which got my business instead !

We eat here when we visit our child at Uni. Lovely food, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Never been disappointed and will be returning soon. Recommend the burgers and fish and chips.

Arrived for our meal which we pre booked and was waiting a while to be seated. Very frosty reception from staff. We had to ask to have our order to be taken after waiting for 25 minutes. The food was delicious, as usual, but the waitress’ seem to be upset by something… quite sad really as we quiet like this spot for food. Play area is great for kids but it’s been out of action for some time. Hope to see that back up and running soon.

The food is nice and the bar is also nice. The food appears to have been cooked to order and was fresh and tasty. It took too long to get served though which was a shame really. I've never eaten here before and the waitress was excellent and works so hard. Glad we went. It's just down the road from my son's uni at Lancaster. Good location.
