We really wanted to love The Borough, but our experience was mixed. It took literally an hour to get our food, which was frustrating. We ordered the shrimp board, and the fries came out cold with zero seasoning—not even salt. The chips and salsa were also pretty bland. That said, my husband’s prime rib sliders and sweet potato fries were fantastic, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. With the long wait and uneven food quality, we’re not sure if we’d choose this spot again.

A friend and I planned our food stop here after traveling from Jacksonville to see the Cliffs of the Neuse state park. We were seated so quickly and Alexis instantly brought us waters to cool off from the heat outside. The atmosphere was calm, and dimly lighted which felt like a refuge from the blazing sun outside. Alexis took our order swiftly, made delicious recommendations, continued to check on us, and explained the menu so thoroughly we thought she was a manager, but she's been working there since they opened a year ago! Our food was SO flavorful, and really hit the spot! I highly recommend the waffle cheese fries, but get the jalapeño ranch! It's not actually spicy, but offers even more flavor than their homemade ranch which was also delicious. We ordered two different types of sliders so we could mix and match to share and they were both incredible: Daddy B's BBQ and the prime rib, garnished with an inviting little pickle on top! It was a great first experience and definitely a pin I'm adding to pleasant restaurants within 2 hours of me!

The Borough-wow! I can’t say enough about this restaurant! The food was amazing and the serving size of the boards are huge. I ordered the flounder board and it was soooo delicious and perfectly prepared. Great service and delicious cocktails too. Will definitely be back!!

Service, drinks, food all phenomenal! Our waitress and bartender were the best. Drinks 10/10. We ordered the pretzel board on special and it was so much food and a wide variety. I hope it stays around on the permanent menu. We will definitely be back to try more!

When you walk into the front door, immediately a good vibe. From the music, the friendly staff, the best bartender, the whole vibe. I sat at the bar and ate dinner. I ordered a tasty bourbon cocktail and I ordered the tomato stack as well as the Beef Tenderloin Croquettes. Everything was seasoned to perfection and it was amazing. I usually don't d a lot of eating out as I cook a lot at home, but this was the best meal I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Its a great thing they did not have a dessert on the menu because I know I would have ordered that too. I will definitely eat here again and I would highly recommend giving it a try yourself!

Fantastic place to hang out in downtown Goldsboro. Ordered their hot honey old fashioned cocktail which has their homemade with chili infused honey. Definitely will order this one again. For dinner, I ordered their salmon board. Huge portion and could have split it with someone. Best of all, fantastic bartender (TK) and met several locals who recommended other bar spots to check, all walking distance.

My husband and I LOVE being in downtown Goldsboro. The restaurants downtown keep getting better and better. We were looking for a new place to eat and remembered hearing about The Borough recently. I am SO glad that we stopped in. Every single person from the hostess to the bartender were so pleasant and helpful. Not only was our food outstanding but the staff put this place over the top. It’s nice to feel like you are actually wanted in a place of business these days. We can’t wait to go back.

Wonderful dining experience. Friendly staff seated us promptly. Cat , our charismatic and knowledgeable, wait staff walked us through the menu and wine offerings. My friend had the shrimp and grits and I ordered the St Louis BBQ ribs. I tried the shrimp and grits. Hands down the best I’ve ever eaten. My ribs were fall off the bone tender with sauce perfectly balanced between sweet and savory. Must stop if you’re in the area.

Yelp
First time here. We were greeted immediately and seated. Cat, our waitress was friendly nice and told us about the specials and answered our questions as first timers. My wife and I loved the decor and atmosphere. It is kid friendly but leans adult in the atmosphere. There is a bar. We ordered waffle cheese fries for appetizer. It is a very generous portion and is supper delicious. We did not finish it. We ordered the Prime Beef Burger sliders for our meal. It comes with 3 sliders and they too were amazing. I also had a Double Cannon Cabernet. Very good. Everything was perfect. We will be back.

Yelp
The grilled chicken sliders were very flavorful. The chicken was juicy and the bun had that slightly crunchy buttery top. You get a lot of waffle fries. The food was good. The service was friendly however it is not a good hour lunch spot. It takes a while to get the food out. If you have plenty of time to spare, I would definitely recommend it! If you only have an hour, you may want to call ahead.

Yelp
You may wait for food, but good grief is it worth it!!! Hands down, the best fried green tomatoes I have ever had. Their salsa is insanely delicious. The vibe is cute and down to Earth. I absolutely recommend this place, as long as you're not already hangry upon entrance.

Yelp
Delicious food. Cozy atmosphere. Nice waitress. I have been three times and ordered the shrimp and grits every time.

Yelp
Not particularly busy when we arrived. Waited a bit to be seated. Clean upscale atmosphere. Seated in a booth by a girl who took our drink orders and appetizer. Waited a considerable amount of time until another girl came by the table and said she would be our server and would be getting us our drinks and appetizer soon. Another 5 minutes or so passed and they arrived. My old fashioned was pretty bad, definitely the worst I've had in Downtown Goldsboro which does happen to have a lot of amazing craft cocktails bars. Overly sweet and weak. Not sure the whisky as the never asked my preference and too weak to pick up on what it may have been. Chips and salsa were a mixed bag. Salsa was tasty but cold tortilla chips aren't it for me at a restaurant especially if I'm going to pay $8 for them. Food came out in a good timeframe. Buffalo shrimp were again just ok. Presentation was good and the shrimp were large and cooked well. The buffalo sauce was overly sweet for me and could use more of a vinegar flavor of traditional buffalo sauces IMO and the ranch was rather thin. Loved the garnishes and was happy to see something other than celery on the plate. The prime rib bacon sliders plate was beautiful. The sweet potato waffle fries were the highlight of the plate. Perfect amount of cinnamon sugar seasoning and crispy fries without being hard and overcooked. Overall it was a bit of a disappointment. It certainly has a ways to go for me to put it into a category that I'd recommend downtown.

Yelp
Our waitress Andrea was great, but the kitchen was terrible. Many mishaps with our orders and a long wait.

Yelp
TK IS THE BEST!!!! Best bartender I love her so much. The food is delicious! Drinks are so balanced and yummy

Yelp
The food is a step above almost everything else in Goldsboro, the presentation is a step above EVERYTHING else in Goldsboro. Drinks are good but too expensive. The menu is great with lots of choices and everything I've had there is outstanding. The wings are really very good and they serve whole wings, not flats and drums, like everyone else. You will not be disappointed with the food no matter what you order. The prices are a little high, but the serving sizes are generous and the quality is very high, You will get your money's' worth for sure. Except for Carl and Chell's this is the best eating spot in Goldsboro.

Yelp
Service is great. The food is nothing short of amazing. I've had shrimp & grits in a lot of places but Ben's is the best I've ever tasted. It is crazy how delicious this dish is.

Yelp
Bad experience from the beginning. Person who set us at our table was not friendly and acted as if she didn't know what to do. We have been several times and never had a time as bad as tonight was. We have noticed that the owners only come out and speak to the people at the tables they know and pass by the others. Doesn't look good for business. Waitress took our order for drinks and food. She didn't come back to the table. We asked to only bring the wine if it was cold. Someone else brought the wine and it was room temperature. Food arrived at the table cold. She never came back to check on us. Another waitress came by and saw our water glasses were empty and filled them. All our waitress did was stand at the end of the bar by the cash register. We had to get her attention to get the bill. It was a disappointment and don't think we will be returning.
