The Bower House Restaurant & Rooms

We had a lovely one-night stay, including dinner. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a very cosy bed. The bathroom was a real surprise, almost the same size as the bedroom, and featured both a bathtub and a separate walk-in shower. The only downside was that the shower tiles were quite dirty and could definitely do with a proper scrub. For dinner, we chose the tasting menu, and every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was attentive, although a little slow at times. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily stay again.

We stayed here for a one night birthday break, in the family room. The stay was excellent, great quality rooms with everything you needed. The restaurant food was also excellent and highly recommended. Staff were excellent too. ||This would have been a perfect 5 star stay. The one downside, we woke up in the morning covered in bed bug bites (covered!). The hotel kindly took some money off from our bill for the inconvenience, but I couldn't write a review and not mention this. It's one of those things does happen, and I do believe they were going to do everything they could to sort it, but it did taint our otherwise perfect stay quite badly!

Sunday afternoon late lunch. Wow! Absolutely perfect meal for two of us. Good choice of starters and main course. Superbly and masterfully cooked and presented. Best birthday treat.com! We are only 10 mins walk away so good to support the local amenities. We will be back!

The food was mindblowingly good. The tasting menu blew our socks off. And is incredible value for what you are served. The decor is opulent, the service - particularly from Paul was exceptional. His interaction with the guests was charismatic and charming and his knowledge of the food and wine shone through. And last but not least, Head Chef Leo Kattou came to talk us through the dishes and it was an absolute privilege to have met him and eaten his incredible food. After a small rest I cannot wait to go back. I have my eye on the set lunch menu. Thanks to all the staff back and front of house for a very special experience. PS - Candles, flowers on the table and very good plants also scored eleventy out of ten.

Decidedly one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. Service was cheerfully efficient; cocktails were delicious and prepared with aplomb. The sous vide beef was buttery soft and the accompanying sides were cooked faultlessly. We had just enough room (thankfully) for a perfectly balanced chocolate and cherry torte. Highly recommended.

We spent a weekend at the nearby Mount Pleasant Barns and, unsure of where to eat, picked The Bower House purely off the back of a very enticing menu. I can honestly say that I have not been this pleasantly surprised by a restaurant in the UK in a very, very long time. We both started off with a scallop ravioli served in a light roast chicken sauce. The flavours in this dish are so intense and yet so perfectly balanced that we were literally both speechless after taking our first bite. For mains my wife enjoyed the market fish and lobster sauce, which she could not stop raving about, I had a sensational bone-in sirloin that was perfectly done and had just the right amounts of smoke and dry-aged flavour. Dessert was equally impressive; a visually striking and almost impossibly elegant blackberry souffle for my wife and a 74% chocolate tart for me, which was utterly spectacular. Our waitress was superb and added so much to the enjoyment of visiting this spot that we're headed back again 24 hours later for a Sunday roast!

We had our Christmas party - table of 8. From booking, choosing our menu options, to the actual evening all was seamless. The service attentive, food and wine delicious. Fabulous evening was had by all. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Had a wonderful lunch here at the weekend. The quality of the food is superb. Everything was perfect, and the staff were very friendly. I will certainly be visiting again!
