The 34 Best Coffee Shops For Getting Work Done In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Working from the beach is a recipe for disaster: loud waves, bad sunburns, and the real possibility of sand in your keyboard. But Boy & The Bear's Redondo Beach location is a safer bet, where you can sip Colombian coffee a couple of blocks from the Redondo Pier. The space looks like a modern surf lodge with geometric rugs, exposed beams, and brown leather couches to sink into. Have a coffee with your morning meetings and maybe escape to the beach once your boss goes offline." - brant cox, sylvio martins, cathy park

12 Great Latinx-Owned Coffee Shops In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The Boy & The Bear owner Andres Piñeros began working in coffee back in 2012 in his native Colombia, starting the business as a pop-up before opening a brick-and-mortar here in LA. The Boy & The Bear serves 100% Colombian coffees in three different locations that look like design stores. The shop's beans are directly sourced from the farmers and then roasted using two different techniques. The result tastes a little like berries. Drink it as a smooth Gibraltar, a.k.a. the perfect ratio of milk to espresso, or try the café con panna, a double shot with a dollop of whipped cream on top." - sylvio martins

A cozy coffee shop in a commercial area, well designed interior and nice aesthetics for the roastery. The staff is friendly and fast with their services. I ordered the Pumpkin Spice Latte which was rich, smooth, and not too sweet. Just enough hint of pumpkin and cinnamon to add to the overall experience.

The Boy & Bear Coffee locations are always designed and built aesthetically pleasing and their new location at Gardena did not disappoint. The “Blue Store” concept has minimalist modern design and with an open floor concept. However, with so many people inside combined with the background music, the echo was very loud and it did not bring a peaceful cafe vibe. I ordered hot mocha with almond milk ($9.31) and the quality of coffee was excellent but I don’t know whose idea it was to pour lattes into coffee cups without a handle that looks like a soup bowl. It was awkward and difficult to hold the bowl to drink. The timeliness of getting coffee was disappointing. Took 25 mins from getting in the line, placing an order and getting my coffee. I would not recommend this place if you are on the go trying to get some caffeine fix. Parking is street parking only and it is not easy to find parking. People drive very fast on Western avenue. Given the lack of good cafes in this area, I think they will do well but unless they do something about the price tag of their coffee, I don’t think people will make this place as their routine coffee stop and instead it will most likely be a splurge luxury purchase.

Google
Matcha Mango was very interesting, yet sweet and refreshing. And a regular latte. The place is nice clean and cool. Love the blue. I feel like it’s missing something but I can’t put my finger on it. However they just opened. And I will be going again, you should too!

A nice place to hangout with friends. We came on Sunday, quite busy busy but drinks came out quickly. The cinnamon apple danish’s was warm good (idk if I remember the name right). The air smell like freshly ground beans with a hint of warm pantries.

Google
Absolutely delicious coffee today at boy and the bear Gardena! We have been going to the Redondo location for years, and we are so excited to have the blue store nearby! Coffee was just as good as the other locations and we can’t wait to return!

Google
The warm latte was a little cold but the presentation was nice. The croissant was heated and flacky but the middle was cold. It was tasty though. Overall place is nice and looks like it's still a work in progress. Try it, I would give it a 2nd spin.

Google
They care about their coffee just a 40 min wait for one drink 😅 I don’t mind waiting but an hour for even a small coffee shop is a lot Edit: they should staff a minimum of 2 more people in the future what took time wasn’t the quality of coffee but one worker was still learning and one was running back and forth making all drinks and getting more items from the back. Being efficient and well staffed doesn’t affect the body of the coffee.

Google
The blue store. Feels/sounds kinda naked inside with all the echos from the open space. Well appointed equipment on display and fancy coffee ware. This is a serious cup of pour over, high quality, socially responsible sourced beans all finished in a paper cup with our boy & his bear. $9 a cup is a splurge, but it is really good cup of joe.

Yelp
Made a trip out to South Bay just to get coffee with my cousin and the closest non-Starbucks location to her was Nook at the Enclave, but that line was ridiculous. I've had Nook, I would not wait in a line out the door for it. Next closest coffee spot was Boy & the Bear five minutes away. It's almost kind of easy to miss because the building looks like it could have been an old medical office from the 60's or 70's and it's painted this sterile blue color, so keep an eye out for the corner of 180th and Western. We parked in their lot off of Western which has a few spots but we were able to snag one and there's plenty of street parking. We both ordered a vanilla latte and added caramel. Mine had half caramel and her's had full caramel. The iced coffee was SMOOTH. No bitterness, not too much artificial sweetener (they make their vanilla syrup in house). I'm a fan of Hidden House in Santa Ana and Portola in O.C. and this is on par with that. They also roast their own beans in house and I believe I saw instant coffee packets for sale and some smaller bags of coffee for sale in the front. Inside, the decor is giving operating theater with the room in the middle showcasing the roaster and enclosed by huge glass windows. It almost looks like it takes the entire floor up, but if you go towards the back you'll find more seating with people working on their laptops and what not. There's a lot of coffee places to choose from in Gardena, but Boy & Bear is my new go-to. It's not trying too hard, service was fast and friendly, and the coffee speaks for itself!

Yelp
Like the rest of the coffee chain, this spot has good ambiance and food offerings. I really liked the interior setup and color scheme. Well done on the design of the store. I tasted their apple danish and William alba pour over. The seasonal apple danish was crispy with the right amount of sweetness. It had a generous serving of apples. It was by no means lacking in taste and flavor but it wasn't unique: 8/10 The coffee was too much on the lighter side for my taste. So much so that it tasted like tea and I was not able to get any of the suggested notes. Taste is subjective so make your own decision here : 5/10 Overall I like the brand and I'll continue visiting the Redondo store. Cheers!

Yelp
The boy and the bear finally opened a spot in gardena. Indont have to drive all the way to redondo beach anymore.. Limited parking spaces inside, and there are tons of street parking too if you are lucky. A cool cozy small place.. Ive been getting their lattes, which they are more famous for... But the iced latte with honey was my favorite. Great and friendly staffs too.. if youre not sure on what you want, they will ask you what type of coffee you like. once they make it, they will ask you to try it first and see if you like it or not. I always have the drinks on the go, but one if these days I will sit there and drink one.. plus, they have some pastries.

Yelp
I love everything about this coffee shop. The coffee shop alone is my favorite color, there is minimal seating along the counter and the pastries are big fresh - though I wish there were wooden signs so consumers know the price before purchasing. Now to my fellow coffee hipsters - there are various coffees using different beans and flavor profiles for you to try - additionally there are beans that you could take home. I bought "Fabian Acevado?" and it was really good - make a Chemex cup every morning and the box gives me instructions on how much to weigh out and how much water to pour. This place knows their coffee. I also got a free coffee with my coffee bean purchase - an iced drip coffee with milk and sugar. It was delicious. The baristas were very nice and patiently explained the differences between the coffee's which helped me make my decision and even offered to add milk and sugar to my coffee. Thank you.

Yelp
This location opened recently in Gardena. I'm glad I came after the hype died down! When I came this past week in the afternoon, there was no line and I was lucky to get a parking spot right in front on the street. I wish they had a parking lot because it can be a bit tough to find street parking nearby sometimes. Very clean, modern, hipster aesthetic inside. All the tables were filled with people working on their laptops. There is an option to order online but the promo code wasn't working so I ended up just ordering in person. I tried: - Cappuccino with oat milk: I opted for a hot version. It was made very well and I really enjoyed it! I liked that I could actually taste the coffee. - Iced sparkling americano with a splash of vanilla: if you like fizzy drinks and want something refreshing, I highly recommend trying this one! I loved this drink, especially the first few sips. But with this one, you have to drink it pretty fast or else it will get flat and have a bitter taste. - Kouign Amann: got the last one! It was delicious, flaky, buttery, chewy, crispy and sweet without being overpowering. My daughter loved it and I would get it again!

Yelp
I absolutely loved the overall vibe of this place! It's clean, chic, and has a really welcoming energy the moment you walk in. The staff were incredibly sweet, helpful, and patient, which made the experience even better. I did feel the price was definitely on the higher end for a standard vanilla iced latte ($7.50). Based on other reviews, I asked for half the vanilla syrup since I don't like overly sweet coffee and I also went with decaf. To my surprise, the iced latte was really good. Nothing too over-the-top or unique, but it had a nice balance of coffee and sweetness with a creamy finish. I had a sense of relief that it actually tasted good considering the price! Even though the drink itself was solid, I completely understand why some people give this place lower reviews mainly because of the pricing

Yelp
My friends and I have had our eyes on this place for a while now and it's felt like it's taken forever from the time the signs went up to them finally open. We dropped by today with a friend and each all offered a coffee and pastry. I got a cold brew latte and an apple danish, my partner got a cold brew and tomato pesto danish, and my friend got a flat white and croissant. All of us got our orders to dine in. Overall, we liked the danishes (which were large and flakey) but there were no prices posted. They ended up being around $8 to $9. Really wish they post prices but I know not posting prices is something fancier places do but not something typical in Gardena. Anyway, not mad I paid that much since I could have asked but I do know it's a strategy to not post prices because it sort of traps customers to not want to back out of a purchase of embarrassment and also to allow the establishment to change prices at will. Next, our coffees were all good (and the prices were posted for those), but the coffees we got were safe options. The Boy and The Bear are known for excellent coffee, but their menu definitely caters more to the initiated. As someone who's not a coffee connoisseur, I'd love to explore something new, but the minimalist menu doesn't offer much guidance. You can ask the staff, but with the line moving quickly, it's easy to feel rushed. If you're unfamiliar with specialty coffee, I'd recommend doing a bit of research beforehand. This was actually our second visit. The first time, we left without ordering because the menu felt too opaque. Today, we followed through thanks to a friend nudging us to just pick something simple. All in all, I don't fault a specialty coffee shop for not explaining what specialty coffee is--but given the stark, elevated aesthetic, a little signage or guidance wouldn't hurt. I get that some might say "just Google it," and sure, maybe these places don't have an obligation to educate. Still, the ultra-minimal vibe can unintentionally create a slightly intimidating atmosphere for newcomers and definitely not something people in Gardena would be used to. As for the atmosphere, the shop leans heavily into an industrial throwback vibe. The entire space is coated in sky blue with a clinical feel--tiles cover nearly every surface, including the benches. The acoustics are stark, with noticeable echo throughout, especially in the hallway near the restroom. On the practical side, there were no visible utensils for the pastries, and napkins weren't provided with our dine-in orders. There weren't any dispensers either, though I suspect both might be available if requested. Still, it would've been nice if they were offered proactively. Also, my dine in order came in a glass and my friends came in a plastic cup. Also, the trays are undeniably cute, but not very functional. Unlike most cafés, these trays are super smooth and slick--everything on them slides around. As I carried ours, the food shifted and spilled slightly (carrying a tray in each hand was also less than convenient). At the table next to us, I watched two women struggle to carry their orders as their drinks slid and their coffee sloshed out. A bit of texture or rubber padding would go a long way. One more thing: there's a gated parking lot adjacent to the shop, but it's not open to guests. While street parking wasn't difficult, it's worth noting that nearby homes have posted signs reading "no coffee parking," which suggests that parking has already become a point of tension in the neighborhood. All in all, I'm glad The Boy and The Bear has opened and elevated what coffee means in Gardena. That said, the shop feels somewhat transplanted, with little adjustment for a neighborhood that's distinctly different from Redondo Beach, Pasadena, or Culver City. A few thoughtful tweaks--whether in signage, service flow, or spatial warmth--could go a long way in making the experience feel more grounded and welcoming. ***edit: last thing, the person helping us kept calling me babe which I understand is just like "honey" or "sweetie" but still felt kind of odd. Really didn't like it but can understand if others are neutral about it. Sir would have been fine.

Yelp
This is an exciting addition to the neighborhood, but I'm so surprised by their lack of parking. Needing to find cramped street parking is definitely the worst part. I drive by here a lot but I usually don't stop by because there's no parking. Once I saw someone pulling out and so finally went in. The coffee and pastries are good but pricey. The vibe is very cool and minimalist. I got the mango matcha and it was delicious. I would go again the next time I happen to see free parking but it won't be a regular spot because I'm not about circling the block to find parking in Gardena!

Yelp
It's OPEN! We've been waiting for this place to open. It finally opened a few months ago, but we were told the lines were long. We ventured to visit one Saturday and there was no line when we entered. A line soon appeared after we entered. Talk about great timing! Not to fear, the line moved quickly! We were people/line watching from our vantage point. I really enjoyed the aesthetics of the cafe. Much thought was placed into the interior design, the furniture selection, the packaging as well as the presentation. I give extra points for the color palette! Blue is my favorite color and the dusty blue has a calming appeal. As you enter, assuming there is no line, walk to the left side of the store and towards the wall. The "line" starts at the merchandise wall and wraps around to the register. While you are in line, you can peruse their packaged teas and coffees for purchase, including reusable tumblers. As the line wraps around, you will be greeted by their pastry selection. Alas! They looked so scrumptious but our bellies were full from lunch and we could only gaze at the tempting offers. We ordered: Iced latte Sparkling Americano with a shot of vanilla My husband enjoyed his latte. As for me, I was never so happy to be drinking a sparkling Americano! I was in seventh heaven! I enjoyed it that much. That drink was just what I needed to erase the woes of a long work week and whisk me to a lovely mini vacay. I was so happy with my drink that I had my husband buy me the tumbler..... and I got another sparkling Americano with the tumbler! Happy Day! Try it! Enjoy!

Yelp
I've been waiting for this place to open because my work is right around the corner from this new location! I remember going to the one in Redondo beach and enjoying their coffee! Their service is always great and the workers definitely know their stuff when it comes to coffee! They take pride in what they do! You can just tell by the color of the Americano that its going to be a good one!

Yelp
The Boy and Bear offers the best in Colombian coffee. Gardena shop opened in Oct 2025. The exterior looks like a blue bunker. Hard to miss on the eastern side of Western. The inside is similar and the acoustics are a bit loud due to the design. Would be challenging to read there without headphones. Line starts by the merch which is a continual source of confusion. The pour over drinks are immaculate and a delicacy. Despite how nice the "for here" glasses, they don't keep the drink warm. Get your drinks to go. They have a drip option which is much more affordable and a very good cup of coffee. Several pastries to choose from and they're all "big". Nothing modest about them. Mostly croissants and variations of the same thing.

Yelp
I'm so happy the Gardena location is finally open! The parking in the area isn't ideal, especially since this location is still pretty new. You'll probably have to find street parking but it shouldn't be too hard to find. The inside of the store is very blue and minimalist. There's ample seating I did although it was pretty full today but people didn't seem to linger too long. The line for coffee wasn't too bad but it did get quite warm with all the bodies inside. The area away from the coffee bar is much cooler. I ordered a matcha latte with vanilla syrup, an Americano for my mom, and a cold brew for my boyfriend. My matcha latte was creamy with just the right amount of vanilla. I also tasted the Americano even though I'm a child and don't prefer drinking coffee without adding oat milk or flavoring, but it was smooth. My boyfriend thought the cold brew was on the and overly bitter side but wants to try a latte next time. I'm excited Gardena has yet another major player in the coffee game. The service was fast and friendly with the cashier offering to answer questions on the drinks and coffee beans. I foresee many more visits to this location.

Yelp
I've been waiting for this place to open for...what seems like years and they finally opened a few months ago! The first time we went was on a Saturday and honestly the line was so long we left. The second time we went was on a weekday and the line was much better. There is no parking lot, prepare to park around the area. This place is bigger than it seems - It's actually 4,000 sq feet with 3,000 of it dedicated to their roasting operations. This isn't just any location, either - barista trainees will come here to train before going off to work at their other branches. There's a lot of seating inside. I got their matcha latte with oat milk slightly sweetend with honey. If you don't ask for sweetner they won't put any in it because it's ceremoial grade matcha - not the packaged stuff with sugar already mixed in. My husband got a mocha latte with oat milk. The matcha was just okay but I thought it could use more powder (but that would probably make the drink more expensive lol) but my husband liked his mocha. I think for their prices, we can do better. However, I do appreciate the grade of matcha they use and thus the fourth star for this review.

Yelp
We are super excited to have a coffee shop like the Boy and the Bear and they finally opened. The coffee is pretty good and the ambiance is very hipster. Since they just opened, the lines were pretty long but go pretty quickly. The staff are super friendly and the main barista guy is super happy and cheerful which makes the whole experience even better. There's plenty of parking and really easy to find; much better than the Redondo location.

Yelp
I have to say that this is one of the few gorgeous coffee establishments I have came across. Simple, yet very peaceful inside if that makes sense. like that you can see them working on your coffee and that to me makes it even better. I got a vanilla latte with oat milk and a spinach and feta pastry. The latte was on the sweeter side, but that's easy to modify next time. It wasn't hot which I preferred it to be. It was warm and it got cold really fast. The pastry was absolutely delicious. Super flaky and so much flavor. Service was great. I loved the whole ambiance of this space. $1 for milk alternative is a bit much. I love the places where they don't charge for a milk alternative. I will be back soon. Already craving the pastries. Yumm.

Yelp
This immaculate neighborhood coffee store is not your typical Gardena coffee shop, but an upscale coffee roaster with some seating inside. When you enter, you immediately see the roasting/quality control room behind a glass wall. To order, walk left along the long counter/bar toward the display wall. Once you are at the register, you can see the menu under the countertop glass. For napkins, straws, plastic utensils, etc., go to the other end, at the far right side of the counter/bar. That side also has bins to put your used dine-in mugs, glasses, and trays. The first time I went, I got the mango sunrise matcha to go. It was refreshing and amazing. The amount of sweetness was just right (I don't like overly sweet). As others have mentioned, it is pricey at $9, but a wonderful treat. The second time, we dined in to enjoy the relaxing and calm ambiance. The "industrial chic" decor is polished and modern. I got a hot "quick & black" coffee with a savory spinach pastry - super flaky, crisp outside and tender inside. The coffee was the perfect, smooth balance to the pastry. I also tasted the seasonal apple pastry with cream cheese filling sprinkled with opaque white sugar bits, which was also fabulous but sweeter than the spinach one. The 2 pastries, the coffee, and an Americano together was $28 before tip. Service was good. It's low key, not the kind of boisterous place that constantly yells greetings or offers unsolicited advice, but they seem happy to explain anything you ask about. The all-user restroom is to the right of the roasting/quality control room at the back. Very clean. People mention the lack of parking, but whenever I went, there was space on the street within a walkable distance. Be careful on Western, as it is a main thoroughfare.

Yelp
I've been waiting patiently for this location to open. Although it's been open for a while now, I couldn't get myself to wait in a long line. I just recently got to experience this place with a short line. The Gardena location also known as "the Blue Store" is also their teaching grounds for their baristas. The space has a minimalist look keeping the space looking sleek and clean. The front sitting area facing the ordering table appears more inviting, however there is more sitting space in the back room that overlooks the enclosed roasting machine. For the coffee, I couldn't resist getting a mocha. It was great! The coffee was smooth and the mocha added the chocolate and creaminess I prefer. I tried a sip of the Quick and Black coffee which had a little sweetness flavor to it. I love how close to home this is and I hope to find some time to sit longer next time to enjoy the space while sipping my coffee.

Yelp
Such a beautiful space with an awesome cafe selection of beverages and pastries. I got the mango match with oat milk and two pastries- tomato and spinach. Everything was very satisfying and such a treat. Staff were friendly. Good amount of indoor seating. Street parking only but worth the visit! Looking forward to trying coffee on my next visit!

Yelp
The coffee here was delightful. It embodied what everyone talks about in being full bodied, not sour, and earthy. I was surprised at how delicious it was. The price tag however is steep. We tried the prosciutto, brie, apple toast. It was a good combination, but I wish the bread had been fresher and more toasted. There is no parking so you'll have to account for that when visiting.
google avatar

Mae S.

Yelp
It's a small coffeehouse with an area to roast beans. They also offer lessons in coffee art, think & taste like a barista and home brewing. The coffee is definitely different from the sugar ladened ones I'm used to. It's good high end coffee. The service is always great. The baristas are patient and are knowledgeable.

Yelp
Soooo--came here for wife's bday and... The croissant was surprisingly good and the vanilla latte tasted nice, though far too sweet. The staff seemed tired and didn't greet us or ask if we were dining in, which made the service feel cold. The ambiance is cool and trendy, but the flickering lights give off a slightly haunted vibe. Overall, great spot with potential, just needs warmer service and a lighting fix. Toodles!
google avatar

Virgilynn B.

Yelp
Service was excellent. I don't remember her name but she was very friendly. The ambiance was nice with seating in the front and a few tables in the back. My husband and I ordered a mango sunrise matcha and the caramel macchiato. I'd have to say my drink was ok.. I think it could have had more matcha flavor IF I didn't opt in to have more milk added. But there was definitely enough mango flavor and a nice touch with dried mango on the top. I had a sip of my husband's drink but towards the bottom and it was already watered down so I won't comment on his beverage. We spent about $18 for 2 drinks including tip which is a bit pricey. Would I come back? Maybe. But I'm always willing to try new places and glad I got to make a trip here.

Yelp
Me and my friend were waiting this place to open in Gardena for so long! The establishment is different from any other coffee shops we've been to. Its unique construction with individual brewing stations for the baristas was so interesting. We got to learn so much about their brand and their coffee grinds of the day. All of the baristas were all so friendly and knowledgeable. We each got two pastries and different coffees. Everything was so delicious and aromatic. Will definitely come back to try their other grinds and brewing methods. Best coffee experience so far.

Yelp
I was curious about this place because I kept seeing it when I drove by Western. I finally got a chance to stop in. I wanted to try their coffee but had no idea which one. Sometimes I would ask the staff what their favorite is, it is fun trying out their recommendations. So Maria told me her very favorite was the mocha latte so I went for it. Great pick! I really enjoyed it and would definitely get it again. Their pastries were delicious too, my husband really liked the apple danish. Hopefully I can try all of them over time!

Yelp
Was excited to try this place out, but unfortunately their coffee wasn't for me. I'm sure it pleases many other people but idk maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I'm an iced coffee kinda person even when it's cold outside. The person took our order and stated if we wanted to fill the rest with milk/creamer to top off the cup. I was like ok since she suggested I thought it would be fine, nope it wasn't our drinks tasted like milk with a hint of coffee. Also majority of the kids for the iced beverages were messed up many of the customers ahead of us had a hard time closing the lid and the baristas were just watching them spill the drinks on the counter, I'm like in my head won't you just help them apply the lid. I know it was a little busy but come on customer service!!! Especially when you just opened this location. Speaking about location street parking only no dedicated parking lot! We parked pretty far in the rain!! Lastly,18$ for eh coffee no thank you.

Yelp
This is my first time trying out The Boy & The Bear. My first impression walking in is that it is very clean. The sky blue tile walls, tiled bench seatings, and minimalist, industrial aesthetic made me feel like I was walking into a hospital in the 70s/80s. The pastry display looked good but noticed there were no price tags on the labels which automatically makes me think it was going to be pricier than usual. I got the Pesto Tomato Pastry which was very savory. Definitely recommend if you decide to try this place. On the counter is a menu of their drinks and specialties. If youre not a coffee aficionado, it looks something of a word search puzzle looking for a word you recognize. There is only one person working the register so asking questions about each drink adds that extra pressure of ordering and just ended up getting something I'm familiar with so I don't hold up the line. I ended up just ordering a cold brew latte with my pesto tomato, and another cold brew latte and an apple pastry for my partner. 4 items... added up to $32+ dollars. Needless to say, this place is not for everyone. Service was okay. The cashier did her best to let us know about the drinks but understandably she was trying to get the line moving because it was piling up behind us. The tiled benches were not the most comfortable, which from a business stand point I understand. They dont want people staying too long so the traffic is always flowing. This also makes the lack of dedicated parking perfect sense. Be prepared to find street parking. So if you have the money to spend and are familiar with coffee and alike you would probably like this place.

Yelp
Location 5/5 Coffee 5/5 Staff 5/5 Craftsmanship 5/5 Aesthetics 5/5 Work space 5/5 Seating 5/5 Parking ........ ok here's the only bad. The parking is a hit or miss , if your lucky you'll get a spot on the side street or out front , but if not your gonna have to do a lil cardio or a few circles around the block to find a space. The line after we entered got soooo busy but for a second day opening the baristas did an amazing job, the line never stopped , they have a good set up of three to make and prepare drinks like a chipotle line. This place will always be packed , and now in Gardena we have. Several diff coffee spots open so this addition to the city is nice You def can bring a laptop and work, it's spacious enough to have a stroller or wheel chair , there several seating option both inside and out , matcha, coffee and tea options! Something for everyone and each drink looks good with in-house syrups made The fresh beans do make a difference, I'm avid coffee drinker and that coffee had my heart racing ( please don't change that) Also what is nice is , if you order for "here " your drink will come in either ceramic of glass as a proper sit down and enjoy Thursday 10/02/2025

Yelp
We arrived at 3:50, ten minutes before the 4:00 closing time, and ordered our drinks. My friend was told to wait outside, which we initially thought was a misunderstanding. A few minutes later, an employee rudely told us both to wait outside despite already ordering. When I asked why, he dismissed me, said the shop was closed, refused to share the owner's information, and had a very poor attitude. When he brought our drinks out, he said his name was Alex and slammed the door shut. The behavior was extremely unprofessional and unwelcoming, especially for a first-time customer. We will not be returning.

Yelp
I typically go to big & the bear in Redondo. Excited about the new Gardena location. I was honestly very disappointed. There's a parking lot that was kept closed (I'm sure it will open up for use eventually) but street parking isn't too bad. The workflow is terrible. Everything felt crammed to one side of the room. I don't think it was a very good idea of placing tables in front of the line/register/coffee pick up area. Made the entire section overly crowded while the rest of the shop was empty. (My suggestion would be to remove or at least limit the amount of tables in front of the coffee bar The coffee we ordered was pretty pricey $7.50 I believe for a vanilla latte. It wouldn't have been too bad but the latte tasted very bland and overly milky. Bummer. I was excited for this location too

Yelp
Cool little store but horrible parking situation since they had the parking lot closed (I assume this is only during soft opening). Inside is spacious and chic with great drink menu. Cold brew was pretty good. Will need to drop by again after the full open to reassess.

Yelp
I absolutely love their new location and staff is still quick but helpful. My favorite items are their caramel latte and Stockholm fog. They have a ton of seating here and I love how light and airy the colors are. However they need to open their parking lot. It would make finding a spot so much easier otherwise the parking is nearly impossible on the street. Also the way they have their cashier setup is awful. It currently puts you into the back corner and the line is congested next to the seats. It would flow so much better if they changed the stand that you see right when you walk in into a glass case to display the baked goods and have the cashier station on top. They could put up more shelves right behind that is needed to display their coffee but I like how it's currently displayed. The current configuration just makes it really unpleasant for those that are staying and drinking their coffee there since you would get bumped into by those standing in line. If they fixed these two issues this could easily be our new favorite coffee place.

Yelp
Coffee was great, matcha was decent. Line was a bit long but staff have it under control. Moves fairly quickly, location is huge with plenty of seating. Definitely coming back for more.

Yelp
Really cute building, super sleek and simple interior, roasting facility inside that you can observe through glass, great whole bean options to purchase, yummy hand crafted drinks and helpful staff. Drinks are on par for what you get and with local southbay coffee shops. Will return!

Yelp
This place is amazing! the drinks are handcrafted, and are far more superior than most coffee companies around. the staff is super friendly, helpful, and the atmosphere is amazing, really cute and cozy. I've read a couple reviews that didn't give it five stars because of the price, you get what you pay for! You want the best you're gonna pay a little more, it's to be expected, and in line with current pricing for similar product.

Yelp
As a paying customer, quality consistency is very important to me. Quality consistency is what makes me want to become a repeat customer. However, my most recent visit me left me with the impression that this supposedly "high end" coffee shop is an illusion leaving me feeling disappointed. Here are the reasons why: 1) First and foremost, my $8.50 flavored coffee was weak and lukewarm and didn't taste great. For $8.50 one would expect something much better. 2) There was only one person during the busy morning working as both barista and cashier. (I do not like having my drinks made by the same person handling both cash/credit card transactions and making coffee. It is flu season now and lots of germs are going around. It's not hygienic for one person to handle both cash/credit card transactions and food/drinks. There should be one person manning the register and one person making the coffee.) 3) No parking I'll stick with well established Starbucks and my other neighborhood coffee shops. Don't think I'll be coming back again.

Yelp
My five stars go to Maria, because every time I go visit the shop she's there and brings amazing energy. She explains the menu to me whenever I need something to be explained, she makes the best coffee there in my opinion.

Yelp
Good coffee and ambiance! I'm happy they added a location in Gardena, which was needed.

Yelp
The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering spot-on recommendations. I tried their signature latte, and it was perfectly balanced--smooth and rich. They also source their beans ethically, which is a big plus. Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to work or a place to catch up with friends, this gem exceeds expectations. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
New shop in Gardena. No parking lot just street parking but you can find if you don't mind walking. Personally don't mind it but seems like everyone else does. Very nice interior. Believe they roast their beans there too. Got the iced vanilla latte and it was prob the best vanilla latte I've had. Barista told me it's made in house btw

Yelp
I came to get my usual order (almond croissant & vanilla iced latte with almond milk) during their first week. There was a long line, which was pretty understandable and the service took longer than expected but what really weirded me out was that the almond croissant I had ordered tasted more like a peach croissant, which was really odd. I wanted to give it another chance, so I decided to go a different day and it thankfully was not busy. There was one person in front of me but it still took them 10 mins to make my iced latte. I've been to their other locations (Culver City & Redondo Beach) and I usually just wait 5 mins (even if it's busy), so I guess I'll just stick to going there since it seems like they have not figured things out yet.

Yelp
Love this new addition to Gardena. Their coffee is smooth, interior is clean and well-designed, and staff are friendly. Their matcha latte wasn't my favorite and understandably so given that they're more of a coffee shop, but the staff was kind enough to let me exchange it for another drink.

Yelp
I just don't get it. Going for minimalist chic but looks like a public bathroom to me. The matcha was pretty good. I like that it's not batched, they whisk it by hand which is a great touch.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to this new location opening, but my first visit last week was quite disappointing. I understand it might still be new and not fully settled yet, but the overall experience fell short. The barista seemed inexperienced, and my macchiato was served in a paper cup without sparkling water or soda on the side. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't great either.

Yelp
I had ice Carmel latte and a ham and cheese croissant. The ambiance and service was cool but the croissant was not good. The croissant was like a 4/10 and the latte was decent had way better I give that 7/10. To me the coffee was overpriced for how small it was my total was 16.

Yelp
This review is solely based on the ability to order ahead. Has nothing to do with the taste of the coffee. The coffee is amazing. But it's frustrating because if they get busy, they turn off their feature that allows you to order online and just pick it up. I ran into this on a weekend and the girl told me they turned it off if it gets too busy. It's pouring rain right now in Los Angeles and I wanted to just order ahead but once again it's off. I'm not going to bother because I'm going have to wait so I'm going to go back to McDonald's and also it'll be $1.09 there with the app. As opposed to eight plus dollars. But I hope they hire more people so they can leave that feature open because it's very convenient. And they're losing customers. If I can't order online, I'm not going. Other than that, the people are really nice and the coffee is good. And yes, I think eight dollars is pretty pricey but it's so darn good and a great treat once or twice a week.

Yelp
Strange location for a coffee place but I guess it doesn't matter. Atmosphere was nice. Coffee and service were excellent.

Yelp
Location is a bit odd you could miss it even if you're looking for it. Got a ice latte with an extra shot tasted weak and a bit watered down. Looks like they roast their own beans. The layout seem spacious but cramped at the same time. Service was average coffee came out quit but it's also quit pricey close to 10 dollars on a latte.
