I wake up in the wee hours dreaming of when I will next get there and indulge in a half-caf cortado, which is now my go-to coffee perk. The decor is beautiful, simple, elegant, cool; - and spacey. Doesn’t feel like a crowded space even when busy. The atmosphere is quiet (perfect for working on a difficult piece of writing I hadn’t cracked at home.) The baristas are knowledgeable and welcoming. The bagged and boxed beans, can and decaf, are wonderful birthday or holiday gifts for coffee-drinking friends. They are pricey as hell but worth it as an indulgence - my friends have been grateful. I love this place and am so glad to have it in the Valley. Never, ever close!

A Delightful Coffee Experience! From the moment we stepped in, this coffee shop exceeded all expectations. I tried the house-made ice vanilla latte, and the homemade syrup was absolutely divine - a truly exceptional touch that elevates the drink beyond a standard coffee shop offering. The flavor was rich, perfectly balanced, and utterly delicious. The hot cappuccino with oat milk was equally impressive. As first-time visitors, we were greeted by two incredibly knowledgeable and helpful employees who made us feel welcome and guided us through their menu with genuine enthusiasm. The attention to detail, from the house-made syrup to the perfectly prepared drinks, makes this coffee shop a standout destination that I cannot recommend highly enough.

The savory pastries here are amazing! Best tomato pesto danish I have ever had, hands down! Coffee was amazing!

A great spot to enjoy a cup of high-quality Colombian coffee and get some work done. The tables fill up quickly, but with a bit of luck, you can find one. The service is attentive and adds to the pleasant atmosphere.

We stopped here on our way home from LA and couldn’t be happier. The service was warm and welcoming, and the cold brew was absolutely amazing- smooth, refreshing, and one of the best we’ve had. Truly appreciate the hospitality and great experience. Highly recommend!

Tasty coffee and pastries, friendly and hospitable baristas, pleasant atmosphere, and a beautiful home decor shop behind the restaurant.

Tje coffee was good. 2 drinks hot and cold in nice cups. But the wait time was unreasonable. It took 22 minutes to get the coffee from entering to getting it done, in the middle of the day. They must get better. There is no food to buy, which is a disappointment. You want to be able to get a cookie or pastry in such a coffee shop. Nada. The place is new with plenty of indoor and outdoor sitting but very simple. No couches it's all very basic.

Wow. I have been next door so many times and totally didn't see this place. It is beautiful, unique, and a great place to work, have meetings, grab some delicious coffee and pastries. I got the apple pastry heated and it was great. I hope to be back many more times!!

A strong 5 for me! Coffee was strong and service was outstanding. After many months of wanting to stop by, I finally made my way over to this location on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks. Initially, I was going to roll with their drip coffee but they were all out. Also, the barista told me that there is a 1pm cutoff on their drip coffee. Instead, I went with the barista's recommendation and opted for an Americano. Coffee was knockout strong and really flavorful. Chatted with the barista a bit about their coffee and tea options. Really great staff and operation at this location. Parking is a bit difficult but worth it. You have the option of parking on the street or in the structure just behind the shop. I highly recommend The Boy & The Bear to friends and anyone looking for quality coffee in the San Fernando Valley.

Been frequenting a lot of coffee shops with wifi lately and this one has been pretty sweet. Lots of seating for the quick sit and snack or longer come and use the wifi kind of vibe which the barista was quick to ask. They bring your drink to you if you're sitting in or if it's just not busy which is nice. There's water available and parking in the back for 90 minutes, maybe underground too which was surprising. Also attached for Litt Concept House (for now?) so that's pretty neat to conveniently check out. I'm not a fan of fruity espresso/coffee typically, but they made me a believer with the plain cortado I ordered with oatmilk (my standard order).

The coffee shop is situated next to a very popular cafe. Theres a parking garage in the back but it was so packed when we went we had to find parking a few blocks down the street. The coffee shop was also very busy and loud! The staff were very friendly, and because it was busy they were a little backed up on the drinks. The menu is only displayed at the register so that was a minus for us. We ordered the Nordic cold brew latte, a chocolate cookie, and the vanilla latte. The cold brew latte was very strong and needed more sweetener. The vanilla latte was delicious and creamy! The chocolate cookie was lay but we wish they didn't hear it up because by the time our drinks were ready the cookie was melty and super crumbly and messy. The pricing was average for a coffee shop. We wouldn't go back because of it being so busy, but if you're in that area and want to try out a new coffee destination, give them a try!

I love coming here to get a nice cup of coffee and do some work. There's plenty of space to sit and it's fairly quiet which is perfect to get whatever work done. My go to drink here is the vanilla latte.

TL:DR - Quaint environment, parking difficult, good coffee Located on ventura Blvd and Kester, The Boy and The Bear is another premium coffee shop in LA. There is a driveway on the left side of the coffee shop where they allow 90 min parking. The coffee itself has a hold flavor that doesn't have a strong after taste. Not too bitter and not too acidic, very balanced. The latte itself was a bit more on the milky side. I got hints of the coffee through it and that tasted amazing but mostly milk. Not necessarily bad, just mid. It's a small critique, this is a latte after all. Great place for coffee lovers so stop by

I ordered the hot mocha and a chocolate croissant and it was fantastic. First time here but it won't be the last. The presentation of the food was amazing and my eyes glowed when I saw it. Every bite made my taste buds dance. Came here on 4th of January 2025 The table next to me (that is so good) (ohhhhhh try this, try that to one another).... Solid 5 for me and over hearing the table next to me it's a 5 as well.

Running errands up this way on a Sunday and found this beautiful coffee shop situated in an old antiques/furniture store. It looked cool in there so I can't wait to get back to explore. The space was beautiful, decent amount of seating and one outlet that I saw. They also had some tables outside. It was hot in there but they had an industrial fan and it was during a heatwave so it kinda is what it is . I got an oatmilk latte and a chorizo potato pastry. Latte was smooth and the pastry crust was delightfully flaky. Whatever bit of filling in there I got was good but it was lacking in amount. Def a cute place to stop by and read a book or meet a friend. Coming back for the store soon!!!

Checked out this cute coffee shop located in an antique furniture store ! There is indoor and outdoor seating, but space is a bit limited. The service was quick and the coffee and treats were delicious ! - Cappuccino: Delicious! You can't go wrong with a cappuccino and this tasted fresh. - Americano: Simple, but delicious ! It packs a punch drinking it straight ! - Almond Croissant: Yummy! It was crunchy and had the perfect flakiness to it !

This is a cool coffee shop with a unique location inside an antique store. Wifi available (password is on your receipt), but very spotty connection. Baristas are friendly, and there are 2-person tables inside and outside on the sidewalk. I was there early, around 8:15am, so I had no problem getting a table, but they were all taken when I left at 9:30am. My cappuccino was delicious. Also ordered coffee and croissants to-go for co-workers at the office. They said the coffee was strong, and the almond croissants were yum. There are a handful of parking spots in the back behind the restaurant - enter from Ventura Blvd, alleyway next to Marmalade Cafe.

Have been wanting to try this cute coffee shop located at the front/inside of a furniture store. Inside seating was completely full on a holiday Monday morning, however was able to snatch a table after 5 minutes of waiting. Outdoor seating was available. Was excited to try a baked good here as well as a salted caramel latte based on reviews, but they unfortunately ran out of both except 1 chocolate croissant that was left. Not sure if this is common or due to the end of a holiday weekend. Chocolate croissant was nothing to write home about, but I did appreciate that it had a good amount of chocolate inside as can often be lacking. My friend got a cappuccino, and I tried a dirty iced chai latte. Both were really good. Coffee here definitely packs a punch, so I would be back! Barista was friendly, which is always a plus.

This was such a cool location for a cafe. It's located in an antique furniture warehouse (?) not sure what to call it but it had 2 floors with everything from candles to rugs to dressers -- I wish I had more time to explore but I just stopped by for a couple hours to work. I ordered the orchid latte which was a vegan mocha, iced and it was delicious. Vibes were chill, I got a lot of work done and folks around me seemed locked in too. The high ceilings and color of the walls made it a nice environment and the staff was friendly. They also have cool merch like journals and hats. Will def come back to explore and try the Colombian Rose (chai latte)

Cool little coffee shop inside of a massive antique and furniture store. It's very unique location definitely sets it apart from your regular coffee shop. I got an iced vanilla latte and it was pretty good. Theres only a few spots in the back for parking and a time limit for using the wifi which are the only downsides other than that it's a pretty cool place to grab a coffee and sit down to do some laptop work in

So glad THE BOY AND THE BEAR is still here filling in the coffee desert in the San Fernando Valley. They've been open a while and the service just got faster and the customers just kept coming. Congratulations! The espresso drinks are just as delicious as before. ordered a Cortado and it is creamier and chocolate-yier than some. They warm up the pastries for you. Ive never had a bad one. Limited parking is available in the lot behind the building and plenty of metered parking in the surrounding streets. I love hanging out at this shop - spacious, high ceiling, and the smell of coffee is awesome!

A nice coffee shop addition to the downtown Sherman Oaks area. Lovely interior with lofty ceilings; lots of natural elements like wood, plants, etc; and it's attached to an interior design store you can pop into while you wait for your drink. Got an oat milk matcha latte and it was tasty. The croissants are pretty good, too. My husband liked their cold brew. It takes a little bit for the drinks to come out, but it's because each is hand crafted using high quality ingredients. Lots of cute merch. Many guests were there working on laptops. Lots of seating inside. Benches line the windows outside. Metered parking only.

Amazing beans with a variety of roasts. Getting unwashed natural beans can feel like rolling the die on coffee flavors, but the beans here were great. The batch I got was fruity and was a bit more pungent than washed beans (which is expected), but not overly powerful. It was a shame because I don't think the staff was fully educated on the types of beans the location offered. When I was asking questions, they weren't as knowledgeable as I wanted them to be and the in-store drinks were very limited in terms of bean selection. While to quality is up there, I think there's more this company can offer when it comes to advertisement and education. The location is very cute. If you can get a seat indoors, I think it's a space you can stay for hours. There are also a few seats outdoors where I've seen people stay for a while as well.

A cute little spot that will give you a pretty blissful cortado! It is quite hard to park. But if you're close by it's a great little hang spot and does have better coffee than nearly everywhere else in the aera.

Never thought I'd write a negative review for an iced vanilla latte but here I am. Something is off about it. I taste for xoxo it than vanilla and I could taste hints of burnt coffee. Difficult parking, friendly customer service.

Like their other location the coffee/espresso drinks are very good (they are a roaster after all!) and the staff is friendly & helpful We had the Cortado & Colombian Rose (vegan chai) and both were excellent The Casavieja Store, which is the TB&TB newest shop, is located in the entry of a large design studio. It is a peaceful open space with high ceilings and plenty of seating. There is a small parking garage in the back and metered spots along Ventura Blvd. Next time you're in this part of The Valley, I recommend you stop by to relax a little & pick-up a bag of beans for home!

I was In the area and looking for a local coffee shop. There are multiple places on Ventura Ave and just have tried few but was looking for one that I hadn't tried yet. I was driving to ideology coffee shop and saw it so I turned right and they have their own parking lot which is nice! So the coffee shop is attached to a furniture store. Really cute! Service was outstanding, coffee was great and almond croissant was amazing! They have indoor and outdoor seating but they are busy I wouldn't recommend it if you need to be studying there otherwise outstanding and will definitely return

I've been meaning to write this review and today is the day. I used to work down the street from here and one day on my drive home I was on a red light and I saw it was a coffee shop, my jaw dropped! Immediately knew I had to come the next day and that I did. Parking was a bit difficult for me as it was busy at the time I went, there is metered parking on Ventura but you may have to walk a bit if you don't find one in close proximity. As soon as I walked in, the vibes were vibing! Such friendly staff and even more amazing baristas. I'm a born and raised valley girl and I'm so happy we're getting such amazing coffee shops lately this one being high up there. Definitely check the boy & the bear out, you'll love it.

Super cute coffee shop & location. This coffee shop is connected to an antique store that was fun to browse around. There's also free parking in the back. Coffee was solid. We got the pumpkin latte and appreciated the real pumpkin puree that was used. Love the aesthetic, would recommend. Enough tables inside to do some work.

Super cute coffee shop! Seating is limited, but I highly recommend taking your coffee on a little roundabout of the store it's inside of. Such a unique venue and lots of beautiful homewares and furniture that I'll never be able to afford but look lovely! The two folks behind the counter were super friendly and helpful. They even let me sample their cold brew to see if I would like it! It was on the lighter side which is my jam. I went for a cold brew latte and it was exactly what I needed to put that extra pep in my step! I would definitely recommend this place for a first date or even a coffee date with a friend. They also have a case of delicious looking pastries I will be sure to check out next time. They sell bags of their coffee as well if you are looking to take some home! Overall, I would definitely come back and bring my husband for a weekend coffee. It's such a nice atmosphere and the coffee is good! It's on busy Ventura blvd so any outside seating is pretty loud but a great view for people watching. Inside it was really quiet and lots of people were there with their laptops. I would come back here again to work one day too! Check it out for yourself!

I love The Boy & The Bear coffee! This is hands down still my favorite cold brew in all of LA. However, this review is more about the location. They're inside an antique furniture store, and as such the space is very limited. PROS: - Still the same great cold brew they serve a tall locations. - Lots of table space - Staff are very friendly and nice. CONS: - Very few electrical outlets. - NO AC. It gets very warm and hot inside here, especially for being in THE VALLEY, although they do have a giant fan blowing for air circulation. - WIFI is limited to only 2 hours, compared to their other location in Mar Vista which isn't. - Hard seating only available, not very comfortable for long periods of remote working. - NO RESTROOMS available when the furniture store isn't open (I came on a sunday). - Parking in this neighborhood is terrible. Only metered parking on the streets and the neighborhood is packed. Overall - Not a great place if you wanna get some work done. More of a get-in-get-out type of coffee location.

The premium coffee Emerald Series Elkin Guzman is good. It has nutty taste & citrus fruity smell.. described on the menu as Guava & Passion fruit notes! I wanted to get a cappuccino which was on the menu but the barista said it wasn't in the system and she could only make a cortado.... But Cortado wasn't even on the menu for this bean. I also got guava & cheese croissant. It was yummy. The skin was flaky crispy and the guava was not too sweet and not too tart The coffee shop is cute. There are 7 tables and big square bench you can hang out inside and 5 tables outside . It's connected to an antique & gift store called the Litt Concept House. Service was good & friendly. Parking in rear! Credit card only

I love the Latte; it is way more delicious than Starbucks. The croissants are fresh and i cant eat just one. I also love the way this place looks; the high ceilings and blue paint are giving peaceful vibes. The guys who work here are really the best. I love the service they provide. Overall a great coffee shop. Patience is important because it's a small business so you aren't getting six employees working at once but i find the coffee and their service to be worth a little wait at times.

An added charm is the adjoining antique store, where you can wander with your drink, admiring high-end vintage home goods. The owner of the antique store was as delightful as the surroundings--kind and eager to assist.

As you walk up to the boy & the bear it looks like any other coffee shop until you walk into a modern day plant atrium and the smell of coffee as you open the doors. The concept of the coffee shop is open spaced, menu is located via a QR code with a list of items for sale via the merch shelf. When you walk up front they have the drink menu on the counter for easy access so you don't have to scroll through your phone. They have a small bakery section with different flavors of croissants and I did noticed they had some vegan options for coffee and tea. I opted for the matcha latte with almond milk and a bit of sweetness provided by fresh honey that the barista will ask when to stop as she pours it into your drink. I also asked for it to go, but if you stay awhile they will offer you your drink in cute mugs to stick around for a bit. The time I went in was around lunch hour so the place was relatively busy, only one barista but she was hustling and getting the drinks out as promptly as she could. The matcha is actually hand made, as in she whisk/presses the powder down in a bowl before making it. One of the best matcha's I have found, taste was on point! This place is also connected to an antique store, they let you browse around with your drink in hand as you look at all the pretty vintage pieces. It was mainly all home good pieces from the area I took a peek through. However you will be spending a pretty penny in that store as a lot of items were a hundred dollars and up, but if you have the money.. spend it! Met the lady who owned the antique store as I was walking out, really nice, very sweet and helpful. I'd come back here to just to look around, hang with the plants and drink some tea to relax with the boy & the bear.

The boy and bear is attached to a cool posh furniture shop and has cool posh drink for average LA people I had an amazing time drinking my coool and posh drink with my cool and posh pastry with my cool and posh friend, who is friends with me- an beverage LA peopl(e) The service is cool and posh I actually was very fascinated about hearing about the love life of - I forget his name. But he's been waiting to ask this girl out and he just found out she's in a band but not if she's single or not so he figured next time she comes in he would gentle ask to go to her next show. So I was rooting for that guy and hoping to see that lead singer but it didn't happen infront of me What was cute is how the customers know and like said barista and is all up in his love business and giving him advice. I like that for you. Ima call you josh for now but just know Josh man I'm rooting for you the boy and the bear in your cool posh coffee shop. Ps - if you're the lead singer lady you're cool and posh too.

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately my iced vanilla latte tasted more like coconut and cardboard more than anything else. I really did try to let the taste settle, maybe it was different, but I couldn't even get through half of it without feeling nauseated. It looks as though parking and/or maximum stay in shop is around 90 minutes. The service was average. Going on a weekday seems to have less people, so inside wasn't too bad. They have outdoor seating as well.

Newly opened, (6 weeks), I had to try their coffee after reading a few reviews here on yelp. It is located next to a furniture store with high ceilings and plenty of seating inside if you want to hang. As you may know, this coffee connoisseur, has been searching in 2023 for the best coffee house in the state of California. Dat, our barista, was so friendly and made our drinks to order. He made it very clear that if they were not made to our satisfaction, he would remake them. Who says that?! We also ordered a plain croissant to share. It was very fresh and flaky:) My latte had a beautiful heart and it was perfect. My daughter ordered an ice matcha sweetened. Also very good. The interior was pleasing and I loved the stain glass doors that led you to the furniture store. Yes, I will be back and "The Boy & The Bear" coffee shop is now on the YE's radar. *Plenty of street parking (metered) or park on a side street and walk over. *It is located right next to "Marmalade Cafe." *Wifi available *Great place to meet up with a friend

Very cute coffee spot inside a furniture store. I ordered a chai latte and it was really good. Service was friendly- although it was just one person taking orders and making drinks so service took a little long. I wasn't in a hurry though so I honestly didn't mind. It's nice to have nice coffee shops like this around the valley! I'll probably come again soon since I'll be in the area in the next few weeks.

I've been to one other Boy & The Bear location, so I had high hopes for the coffee, atmosphere and service. I was very pleased with my visit! The baristas were both wonderful. I actually prefer this location over the one in Marina Del Rey because I love the atmosphere of this one. It's located inside LITT Concept House so there's a lot to walk around and see. There is limited indoor and outdoor seating, but I didn't have trouble grabbing a table. I ordered a Dirty Chai with oat milk and absolutely loved it. The only downside is how expensive it is here, making it more of a treat than a regular stop for me. After tip, my dirty chai ended up being just over $10. Personally, I find that to be on the pricey side, especially since it's a small drink. They have free 90 minute parking in the garage in the back. The entrance is off of Ventura Blvd. As I mentioned, I really love The Boy & The Bear, but due to the price this will definitely be a once in a while thing for me.

Coffee was ok. Got a vanilla latte. I don't know if it was the roast or who prepared it but I just didn't like it and didn't have time to get another one. 4 stars because the gentleman who helped me was very friendly . Ambiance was cool also but for a coffee shop the coffee was ok at best .

Creative elegant space with tall vaulted ceiling to match the bold flavors of Colombian coffee roasted in Southern California. Clean flavors, smooth, rich robust coffee drinks prepared with patience and perfection. Croissants are fresh, creamy on the inside, and flakey on the outside to pair elegantly with any coffee of choice. Next door is an antique shop worth exploring.

The ice vanilla coffee was delicious and the service was great. The ambiance is nice and clean. Definitely would come back to grab coffee again. Would definitely try other iced coffee that they have the vanilla flavor is definitely a 10/10

There's very limited parking on the street here so keep that in mind when coming here! Such a cute and well decorated coffee shop. I got an iced salted caramel latte with oat milk (this was new to me since they ran out of the vanilla syrup) and it was sooo good. If I was back at the shop I would definitely buy their coffee beans. Also got a croissant that was good. There's some seating inside and it's nice and spread out, so you're not cramped next to someone. What I loved was that it's attached to an antique & gift shop. Such cute stuff to look at while waiting for your order.

The guava and cheese croissants are to die for! Reminds me of Hawaii. I usually get a latte with whole milk, it's always rich and creamy. Tried the mocha and tastes a bit watery so probably would skip that. The service is very leisurely, so be leisurely when you go. It's right next to a furniture store with an entrance via the cafe so it's cool to look around while you wait.

5 stars to the worker!! Wish I got his name but he's Persian and honestly has top tier customer service. 1. The ambiance of this place is nice cause of the plants and space BUT NO AC!?! How do you open a coffee shop in the valley and not have ac.. insane. 2. Ordered a matcha and didn't really like it based off of my facial expression so one of the workers saw and immediately remade it for me! He was so kind and nice. Most coffee shops say sorry and don't do anything about it. 3. It's cool it's combined with a furniture store. .... To the owner: please invest in AC cmon

Checked out The Boy & The Bear for Father's Day to celebrate myself since I've been Mom and Dad and have been since day 1 so I get two holidays ;) I'd first spotted them while headed to LAX one day and put it together one had opened in the valley. I typically run and walk my neighborhood to the east but went west to have them this Sunday. Great drinks but I'm a creature of habit and somehow don't typically go this direction unless I'm walking to the grocery store which unfortunately comes up much sooner than they do. If you're nearby they would make a great everyday coffee shop. I'll probably visit again if I feel like switching things up but not on my usual route.
