Yelp
Craft beer is back in a place it used to be (former location of the Flying Saucer), with a new look, a new name and face, and a new lease on life for Austin's Brass Tap.
I used to enjoy the Brass Tap in the Domain as a pre-match spot before Austin FC games in Q2, and I was sorry to see it go. Now they are back.
The place looks great, sparkling and clean, fresh paint and new surfaces on the walls, tables and bar, the high ceilings set off in subtle shades of wood and woodtone that make the space feel a lot more classy, though still casual.
The gleaming tiled tap wall remains front and center, a total of 63 handles, well-curated and covering a wide range of styles and flavors. Word is about 3/4 of those handles will rotate frequently, music to the ears of beer enthusiasts. Bar service from friendly knowledgeable folks is again the standard, and besides beer there is a large craft bottle list, wine list and a full bar (a nice Buffalo Trace rounded out my visit). Food offerings might be just getting started, and I hope the menu will expand somewhat. I was tempted to leave off 1 star, though the Chicken Poblano Tacos on the small HH special menu I was shown were tasty and a good value. Happy Hours are 3-7 Monday through Friday.
11 TVs adorn the walls, with a huge projection screen in the big back room (side room actually). Sporting events should be fun here. They are open 11am-2am daily, opening at 9am on weekends.
Austin's new Brass Tap is open, in the Triangle, opposite Mandola's, with plenty of nearby garage and street parking.
