Top Dollar Oyster Deals in NYC, Mapped | Eater NY

"The Brazen Fox is not the most ideal setting to eat oysters as it can fill up with lots of bros, but its inclusion on this list is because dollar oysters are available all day, everyday." - Stefanie Tuder

Dropped in for happy hour. The appetizers were great, the flavored margs were refreshing. Waiter was attentive. The desserts were good. Pretty sure the toffee Bundt cake was burnt so it was hard but the flavor was sto there, enjoyed it regardless

Had a fun Saturday night at The Brazen Fox in downtown White Plains, but it wasn’t a place I’d recommend for dinner. The vibe was lively and the music was great But the food fell short: the menu is basic and nothing stood out as particularly tasty or good value just “simple,” not enjoyable enough for a meal. Inside It was loud and crowded, which meant chatting wasn’t an option felt more like yelling over a crowd than a social night out. It’s a good spot if you just want a fun night out with drinks, but not the place for a satisfying dinner.

We came here on a Monday afternoon because the kids were still on break. They have a kids menu and we ordered the sliders and chicken tenders with fries. The meat on the sliders looked to be a medium sized meatball that was barely flattened enough to fit into the bun. The tenders were okay as well. My wife and I split the paella which looked bland but turned out to be nice and flavorful. They have a decent beer selection and a fully stocked bar. The place was clean and the staff/server were friendly and checked in on us a couple of times during our meal.

Google
The meal and the service good. I would come here again hopefully! This restaurant will always be special to me because it’s the first place I went out to eat with my future colleagues here in the U.S. — hopefully, my future coworkers!

Google
Bro. Best burger I've had in the past ten years. It was cooked exactly how I wanted it, which never happens anywhere. Then the rest of it was like a perfect In N Out burger with that plush bun and fresh veggies. Hot waitress too, yay!

Google
I was able to stop here while I was in White Plains for business. We sat at the bar and the service was excellent and attentive, our bartender was totally on point. The food was tasty, came out in a timely matter and was cooked properly. We went during dinnertime so it was quite busy but even so everything was excellent. There is a very nice selection of craft beer and as one would expect the majority of the food is American type fair so there's plenty to choose from. Also, plenty of different seating areas, inside, outside, front, rear. bar seats and tables. Great place to just chill out or bring family and friends

Google
DO NOT GO HERE. Was at this joke of place other night for food and night out. WORST SERVICE EVER. Workers were nothing but rude. I thought food could make up for it, not even close. It had no real effort into the dish. I could’ve gotten better food and service from a drive thru. Also stayed for night time. Whoever hired those bouncers wants this establishment to fail. BEAUTIFUL PLACE tho. Never written a review before for anything but THIS NEEDED ONE. Idk if there is somewhere I can hit 0 stars but if not 1.

Google
This bar is okay for a quick bite and a chat. We ordered a simple cheeseburger and quesadillas. I can't say the food impressed me, but the drinks were tasty and not too strong. The spot is chill. I don't think it'd be a bad idea to play a bit of music to accompany the drinks.

Yelp
Surprisingly good is how I would describe this restaurant. I joined a group of friends for a late lunch/early dinner. There is a parking lot in the back of the restaurant which leads into a semi outdoor eating area later at night they clear away the tables and chairs and it becomes sort of a club/bar. The restaurant is pretty big with lots of tables and eating areas. They had an Easter menu to order from in addition to their usual menu. They had lamb chops on the Easter menu as an appetizer, which I ordered. For sides I ordered corn and a salad. I thought the chops were an app, but they came with some really good fries. The chops were really good as well and as full as I was, there's always room for dessert right? That being said, I had the chocolate chip lava cookie and OMG I'm so glad I did. It was a huge chocolate cookie with a warm chocolate center with ice cream - it was delicious! A solid meal worth repeating. I will be going back!

Yelp
The food is good. I've gotten the chicken Caesar salad, the Parmesan fries and the veggie burger they are all seasoned really well. The service by the bar is always very quick. The servers are friendly. They have mocktails which are sweet but good. The ambiance is very chill lots of sports on.

Yelp
Hadn't been in a while but came with my friend for dinner around 6ish. We sat outside, tables were nice. Our server Katherine was amazing. Our food came quickly, chicken fingers and fries were amazing and my friend's Caesar salad and fries were also amazing! We left happy.

Yelp
After a long two days of work, we decided to stop by for some beers and dinner, and wanted to watch some playoff football. Beer section is decent. Service was phenomenal, attentive, and had everything right. Food is okay. It's a bar, I feel like most of the appetizers that we ordered like that coconut shrimp and fried calamari were frozen and just fried to heat up. Those two dishes I probably won't order again. The spinach artichoke dip wasn't bad, and the strip steak was good. Over all very good. I'll be back.

Yelp
Raisin Plex is a great place to grab lunch if you're working downtown White Plains we're having an appointment there also great for after work for cocktails and appetizers. But what really impresses me is their service in their party room downstairs. My organization recently had an event there and they treated us so well and the food was good and the space was perfect. Their bartenders and servers performed admirably at this busy event!

Yelp
I truly Love this place! We had a get together with co-workers twice and I enjoy everything about this place. Food choices, drinks and the space.

Yelp
Food and drinks were good. They had a special but ran out so couldn't try the pastrami sandwich. Was clean and our server was pleasant

Ginger S.

Yelp
Charming, warm spot. Large open floor bar with lots of seating and head space. Great service

Yelp
Awesome place, owned by the same team as Ron Black's next door. Been around forever and is a great spot for parties and gatherings.

Yelp
The Celebration of Life was held at the Brazen Fox. The family rented out the Parlour room and did a buffet. They had fried chicken strips, toast with lox, egg rolls. crackers and cheese, mozzarella stick, and tempura veggies. Forgot to photo food! It was a nice event and closed out with stories of our friend. Paid parking lot.

Yelp
Love it!!!! Great service! The food was excellent!!! And the cocktails are a little strong but the taste is awesome!

Yelp
Classic bar atmosphere and bar food. I'd stick to the sandwiches and wraps, as the dinner plates aren't as good. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel and calamari to start. Followed by the Cobb wrap, chipotle wrap, and pear/walnut salad. Service was a bit slow, but it was fine since we had drinks and appetizers to fill the time. Not anything gourmet, but it gets the job done when you want to go out and watch a sports game live.

James P.

Yelp
Our go to place for weekend brunch with the kids, or a quiet lunch by myself during the week. The food is great bar food. The bartenders are typically fun and engaging and it's a great way to spend lunch (and sometimes the afternoon).

Yelp
This restaurant should have much higher ratings than it does. I met three friends here for lunch/ brunch. We were sitting outside under the tent. Two of us ordered the lobster Benedict, another ordered the sweet potato hash and then we had one chicken wrap. The lobster Benedict was misrepresented. It said it would be lobster salad on top of English muffins. There was no lobster salad, fried cakes came out. It looked like crabcakes. If I had known it would've been fried, I would not have ordered it. I'm thinking I'm getting fresh lobster salad which it says on the menu and now I'm getting a fried substitute. Not good. Nobody seems to be paying attention in the kitchen, because poached eggs came out on English muffins that were pale and pathetic. No crunch to them. They had to be sent back. To re-toast. Part of the problem here is that the kitchen is upstairs and the patrons are downstairs. It takes forever to find your waitress let alone get your food. I'm not blaming the waitresses because they work very hard, but it needs to be done differently. It took forever to have lunch here, and Also took another 20 minutes to get the check. It was very disappointing. We all felt the same way.

Yelp
Beautiful Bat that looks just like CHEERS. The beers are cold and the food is good. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great service always.

Yelp
Been here to eat 2x to eat - here we go: Ya know what it be - Irish-ish bar with bar food. Expect pheasant under a glass and you'll get this place wrong. Had a burger here - medium rare and it was cooked to the standard, to the tee. It was good. Egg white omelette as well had fresh ingredients. Service has always been great. I'd return for sure.

Yelp
It's hard to really accurately rate this bar and I think it really hinges on what time of day and or night you embark on your adventure here. I ended up traveling way the hell out in White Plains this past weekend to meet up with my boyfriend's friends. It's not a normal day or weekend for me to adventure outside of the boroughs of New York or even Manhattan or Brooklyn. Anyway, it definitely has I want to say a very Yonkers like vibe to it. Like maybe even a Jersey fist pumping bro atmosphere vibe dare I say. But that's at like post 10pm hours. Their food menu sounds delightful. They have a pretty extensive beer tap menu as well as cocktails. I tried a blackberry cider I've never had before and it was pretty good before it became so hectic and frantic here that I just switched to a basic pilsner or whatever the hell everyone else was ordering because I couldn't even see the taps or gauge what else was on the menu. It is really well decorated. They totally decked the hell out of this place for the holidays. On normal occasions they have neat old photos of hollywood stars and famous icons on the wall near where we were lucky enough to score seats. I say this because after the Lions were ROBBED of their win against the Cowboys the place basically turned into a club. Guys and gals would circle and do laps around the bar scoping each other out while bopping to the beat of mostly terrible pop music and it drove me nuts. Bathrooms were surprisingly acceptably clean. There are more downstairs. I didn't hate the place but I didn't love it. The old lady in me wants to say that dinner time or brunch here is probably less rowdy.

Yelp
Service wasn't great and food was subpar on all fronts. Fish was rubbery and dry. Veggies didn't have much flavor. Wouldn't recommend or return.
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill. Will or should close soon. The beverage taps are not functioning properly so all drinks are flat, lobster still frozen, spinach salad stale and old. Very expensive for sub-diner level food. I'm sorry for the team, they delivered for many years. 1 extra star for nice weather and staff.
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
Fun ambiance. Nice staff. Good place to watch a game and drink. The food is maybe the worst bar food I've ever had. Stick with the beer.

Yelp
Went after work with my friends and the happy hour menu was good and reasonable. Drinks were well done . The ambiance was good and the service was great. Very friendly people and staff

Christine O.

Yelp
Ordered delivery- the food was very good, fresh, and arrived quickly. The portions were generous. Will definitely reorder from here.

Rory M.

Yelp
The food here was delicious. Surprising really exceeded my expectations. It was a little loud and then again I was in the bar area. They have very nice places to sit the booth that we ran was really nice. The food didn't take too long to come out either.
google avatar

Yelp
variety of drinks. Great interior look and feel, fun young atmosphere, cool vibe about on the weekend. Out back is an awesome area to drink and eat and which is always my choice when the wather is warm

A T.

Yelp
Food was OK. My burger was too rare. My friend's cobb wrap was just OK too but he said the chili was fabulous. It is freezing downstairs on the way the bathrooms and I mean freezing. Is that legal? The hostess sent me to the one downstairs when there was one upstairs. Why did she do that? So I could write this review? But the upstairs atmosphere is really nice in general with lots of TVs and happy hour prices were excellent.

Yelp
My wife and I come back here for our anniversary. It's where we had our first date. It only gets better and better. We took advantage of Happy hour this year. $5 food and drink specials Monday through Friday 4-8 pm. We had a pretzel with some delicious cheese sauce, crispy sweet potatoe fries, and calamari with sweet Thai chili sauce. My wife got a red sangria for $5. Brazen fox is single handily attacking inflation. We also had some delicious chicken quesadillas. My favorite of the night were the wings. I asked for extra crispy. Some of the best wings I've had in a while. The sauce had a little kick but not too much. Overall another great experience. Five stars!

Joe G.

Yelp
I got nachos and a burger. Not in the area normally and stopped in with friends on our way home. Everything was above average for bar food and the service was very good. No complaints and I'm a tough critic.

Yelp
Talk about a nice happy hour! Granted it's only Monday - Friday BUT it's 4p-8p and that's great! I forgot to share a picture of the happy hour menu but I'll just sat there are like 10 appetizers on it and ALL for $5 each! Then they've also for margaritas for cheap on the happy hour menu (I think $5) and like 95% of draft beers also included! And they've for wow the decent selection of beers on tap! We had the calamari, sweet potato fries, guacamole, salsa and chips, pear & gargonzola cheese pizza, Brussels sprouts, grilled cheese w/ mashed potatoes and I think that's it. Ask of those items w/the exception of the grilled cheese and mashed potatoes are all part of the $5 happy hour menu! Service was exceptional! Very attentive, polite, friendly and outgoing. There's plenty of seating variety offered. Lots of tables and even a bar outside with a big TV. Then there's tons of indoors seating in different parts of the inside and another bar or maybe two indoors. Lots of parking in the attached lot (paid). We very much enjoyed our visit from start to finish and 110% recommend to anyone looking for a weekday happy hour or even during regular hours but just be forewarned their regular pricing is "regular" so expect to spend like $30-$40/person at a min.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal and a really fun time at the Brazen Fox today for Mother's Day brunch. This was my first time. The service was excellent - they were busy and a little slow with the meals, but our waiter Jose was very attentive, and made sure the drinks were flowing. The lobster eggs Benedict were so delicious and a unique version of a classic brunch favorite. The ambiance was also nice, with a touch of old New York high end pub. Looks like it also has a happy hour drink menu worth coming to check out. I highly recommend this White Plains gem
google avatar

Yelp
Not worth the visit, the bouncers don't know how to do their job, they won't listen to you so don't listen to them

Yelp
Recently I stopped into The Brazen Fox in White Plains.I was with my nephew and we wanted to get lunch. I saw Declan the owner, I know him from the Rambling House in Woodlawn. The place is very spacious and has a big bar and plenty tables for a meal.I had the Shepards Pie and my nephew had the Salmon. The server was very polite and knowledgeable. The food was very good. This place is perfect for catering and private parties. They also have outdoor seating. Parking is very ample. This place is well managed and is a staple in Westchester for several years. If you are around here stop by, you will not be disappointed! G

Yelp
Got together with a large group of friends over the Holidays and ate here at Brazen Fox. I used to frequent this place back in my college days, and they're an old account I used to have when I worked for Libbey. It's a bar that also serves food-very casual laid back atmosphere. The food was average (had a burger) nothing spectacular, but it got the job done. Also shared some appetizers amongst the table and we all enjoyed those. The drinks were good, and there are plenty of TVs around to enjoy any game that might be playing. The service was ok, but could have been better. There is a large parking lot in the back where you have to pay, but there was plenty of parking on this particular night. Great spot to come and unwind or hang out with some friends and watch the game.

Yelp
Really nice place, excellent & friendly server but the food was severely uninspired. I ordered the Jack Daniels Burger and my GF ordered a BLT. The burger was ordered med-well and it arrived over well done. The taste was bland, the JD sauce was missing the JD flavor. It reminded me of a burger I'd get served in a high school cafeteria. Very uninspiring and we're anxious to see if Brazen Fox can redeem themselves when he head there for happy hour sometime soon. BTW the BLT was not all that convincing when I tried some of my GF's

Yelp
My neighbor, my best friend I decided to go out for dinner tonight as a late Christmas dinner. We went to Brazen Fox. The hostess was wonderful as well our waitress, Cynthia, even though it was crowded the food and service were perfect. We will definitely come back maybe every year and hopefully Cynthia will be there. It was well decorated for Christmas and New Year's.

Yelp
My boyfriend and i winged our date night and ended up at this spot. We ordered the spiked apple cider, we shared the calamari and the Korean bbq cauliflower. For our meals we decided to order a burger and the Shawarma. Food was mediocre. Nothing that WOWed me. But still GOOD. Decor is nice and the place is definitely a lot larger than appears to be from the front. It was also very packed when we went. They seem to get busy often.
google avatar

Maleka H.

Yelp
Not sure how I feel about this place because the service was nice but the food was just not good so sorry. Also I could not figure out the directions of the menu. The margaritas were delicious though with a healthy serving.

Jake M.

Yelp
the service sucks and this hot waiter is not nice and does not let me get what I want. also the food is not good at all
google avatar

Shanta K.

Yelp
Came here for a business meeting, and I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was. Strong yet smooth expresso, phenomenal drinks and the lobster was tasty. The four stars was just for pricing. The place is a little over priced and service was lack luster but food and drinks were good. Huge space and clean. The bugs will get you if you sit outdoors but overall great

Yelp
Came back to BF with friends, for our annual fantasy draft (FYI I won last season :D). They had plenty of space for all of us considering we're a 12 team league and some of us had S/Os. Their happy hour is not limited to just the bar which was helpful. We grabbed two high top cocktail tables, pushed them together and got comfy while we waited for our draft to start. We ordered three appetizer platters since there were so many of us and everything was great. I usually don't like coconut shrimp but theirs were really good. Their spring rolls were somewhat dry and the sauces that accompanied the items didn't make sense. The platters included coconut shrimp, buffalo wings, spring rolls and mozz sticks but for some reason we had sour cream, honey mustard and the marinara sauce was the only one that fit. They sent over a couple bowls of bleu cheese dressing for the wings which worked out. The bartender was on point. He took care of all of our orders in a timely manner. He even managed to make a frozé for me despite not having any ready and the machine being turned off. It was also one of our friend's birthdays and the staff brought out a sparkler and chocolate cake for him which was nice. Brazen has always been a sports day workhorse and labor day 2019 didn't disappoint.

Yelp
Fun night out when I was in town for a work event. Great service and a chill vibe for a Monday night. Food was good all around and Happy Hour pricing made the evening very affordable. Good for small or large groups or if your by yourself and want to sit at the bar and watch a game.

Yelp
Solid restaurant, decent prices and great happy hour menu! Food is decent, haven't found my favorite item yet but appetizers are good. Nice to snack on or share. Water always taste a little funny, I skip it every time. Staff is really sweet and attentive. Doesn't matter the server, always good vibes. Highly recommend for happy hour or a quick meal.

Yelp
Bar Rescue needs to pop up in here.. If Bar Rescue taught me one thing it's that bartenders leave their liquor bottles open and bugs like gnats and fruit flys end up in there. I was one of the lucky people to have noticed the bug in my frozen marg, however there is no use in asking for a new drink or even complaining because i bet there's nothing they will do. If anything they'll make me a drink with the same liquor and bugs lol. Just how poor little jimmy ended up in my drink, his mom dad sisters brothers and cousins are all in someone's drink or going through someone's digestive system When we walked in we had to wait to be seated because there was no one to seat us. When the host came over he was nice. We took some time to figure out what we wanted and told the waiter we needed a minute, he took like 20 minutes to come back. We then ordered appetizer, main and drinks at the same time. I shouldn't have been surprised when the appetizers came at the same time as the main food. * The food was good I'm not gonna lie excepttt for the fact we told the waiter we were getting the same exact thing, one with no mayo and the other kept the same with the original mayo. They come back with one of the sandwiches with no mayo! good for them! and the other mayo AND american cheese?! instead of the actual mozzarella that it comes with.. for what reason ? idk. we said we were getting the same thing... one with no mayo..? no one said anything about a cheese change or american cheese instead mozzarella WHO DOES THAT ANYWAYS. * Also The music is so loud i can't even hear the lyrics, might be the sound system. !!!! I hope they see this and check their liquor bottles and see the whole family of dead bugs in the alcohol. !!!! Here is a pic of the gnat on a fry because that's the first place i put it when i took it out of my drink. Check out Brazen for that extra protein in their Margs :)

Yelp
Stopped by for restaurant month and service was amazing. Restaurant month menu had a lot of good choices, the steak I had was great. My specific server, Chad was awesome and attentive - making sure I liked everything including my choice of wine. Will be back!

Yelp
Food is ok. Service is good. Good atmosphere. Great place to watch football on a Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
Brazen Fox is one of the staple bars/restaurants on the Mamaroneck Ave strip in downtown White Plains. While there was nothing that particularly caught my eye about it, I always wanted to see what it was all about since it has such a grand presence and always looked packed. The other day I made plans to catch up with one of my friends so we decided to try Brazen out for brunch. Being a go-to in White Plains, you can imagine Brazen is large. It has large open windows looking onto Mamaroneck Ave with a large bar that sits center. Tables and booths line the perimeter, and there's additional space outside for when the weather is nice. The aesthetics are very bar like - woods, dark reds, low-ish lighting, etc. There was a football game going on while we were there, so you can imagine it was quite loud - that's okay though because it comes with the territory. The brunch menu actually had more than I expected - lunch mains, breakfasts, omelette options, and brunchy entrees that one would expect to find. What stood out to me was the chipotle sweet potato hash - this was poached eggs, peppers, onions, sweet potatoes, pico de gallo, and avocado topped with some sour cream. The dish was pretty good - it had a lot of components but the flavors and textures worked well together. For a loud, crowded restaurant with a football game going on, service was surprisingly on point and food came out at the right pace. Overall, I was impressed by brunch service. I wouldn't say that Brazen Fox totally fits my vibe or aesthetic, but I need to give credit where it's due. I would be open to returning for dinner or drinks if given the opportunity.

Yelp
i came here with my boyfriend last night and as we were showing the bouncer our id's someone said "no more blacks" to the bouncer. the bouncer said nothing. crazy comment considering there was no other black people here but yeah we used the restroom and left. yall lost 4 customers over one racist that you blatantly chose not to address. disgusting. from the other reviews this is clearly a habit of discriminating and mistreating customers. not a safe establishment for black people really ruined our night we ended up going to another bar on the strip with much better vibes but i seriously cried all the way home worst experience ever absolutely never coming back here and telling everyone and their mothers to never ever come here. not to mention the vibe was weird not a lot of people on a saturday night and just crazy weird racist vibes AVOID HERE AT ALL COSTS

Yelp
I went here with my aunt to grab a quick bite for lunch and to kill some time I had. First off the vibe was nice; very bar-esque but without the overly drunken patrons. The waitress we had was named Kelly(or Kate) on pretty certain it was Kelly. Anyways, she was awesome! She suggested the drink we had which is my new favorite and was very kind and KNEW what customer service and hospitality meant without being reminded. We ordered Wings(Buffalo sauce on the side), loaded chicken nachos(everything on the side as I'm allergic to jalapeños) and coconut shrimp. Now if you have been following me you know I'm a seafood person to the max! So it disappoints me to say the Coconut shrimp was meh. It was over cooked, flattened too much for it to be simply butterflied. My wings were cooked beautifully however, they were lacking flavor . Last but not least the nachos... now most of y'all know I judge hard on nachos as it's not that hard to make lolz. So forgive me when I say; Meh. The nachos were also bland. The chicken had no salt, pepper, garlic powder NOTHING! The chicken wings were virtually the same thing and if it weren't for the shrimp being seafood I wouldn't have finished it tbh. I have the bar a 4 Star off the fact that their hospitality, the service and the Restroom(y'all know I like a clean restroom) was up to par. Otherwise based off the food alone it would've been a solid 2.5 maybe 3. Hopefully you guys fix the seasoning issue(just add a little salt and pepper) and maybe remind your cook that shrimp takes 5 minutes to cook and when frying they take about 2 minutes per side as to not over cook them. Also, maybe not pound the shrimp to a flattened patty would be nice as well. Paying as much as we did for the shrimp I was expecting more. Overall I enjoyed my time here, the owner or manager(Smaller Caucasian woman with a short haircut) was very nice and showed me the way to both restrooms( both were clean). I was told to come back again soon and for that drink I just might . Thanks for the hospitality, the clean restroom and the great service from Kelly. Please take my criticism with an open mind and not personally. Y'all have plenty of reviews referring to the lack of taste which could only mean to add some more salt to get those stars up. Let me know when you guys want me back and I'll bring my husband. *I went during the day which seems to be the times more families are there and it was much more noisier with kids. In case that's not what some may want*

Yelp
The waitress was rude and seemed as if she didn't want to be bothered when we asked for separate checks. Overall the food was great but the service was subpar.
