This Idyllic Mountain May Just Be New York's Best-kept Ski Secret

"The breakfast club, etc. in Lake Placid is known for its hearty breakfast options, including four varieties of eggs Benedict and over-the-top French toast, providing a great start for a day on Whiteface Mountain." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Everywhere to Eat and Drink in the Adirondacks | Eater NY

"The mimosa menu can be enjoyed with views of Lake Placid. The rostis — piles of roasted potatoes topped with ingredients like bacon and Swiss cheese, apple, sausage, and brie, or corned beef and cheddar — are also popular here. There’s a whole menu of Benedicts as well, and kids (and kids at heart) will love the Palace Pancakes, buttermilk pancakes topped with chocolate caramel popcorn and assorted movie candy — part of the proceeds benefit the independent theater across the street." - Matt Lardie

It was wonderful. The space is huge inside, but this is a very popular spot. The four of us waited about 10 min to get a table. Everything was delicious. The window view was great. Kids had a wonderful time. The people who worked there were nice and professional.

Google
This is the kind of place that makes you pause mid-bite just to process what’s happening. The views are magical. Every dish served was absolutely delicious. The house potatoes were my favorite side dish I genuinely considered asking for a duffle bag to go. Their signature pancakes were perfect and I haven’t even talked about their maple syrup is dangerously too good. Service was on point, prices made sense, and honestly—if you are in Lake Placid definitely go visit ☕️🥞🍁

Had an amazing experience at the breakfast club. Staff was really friendly, great view of mirror lake, and the food was delicious and quickly made. The eggs Benedict and acai bowl were amazing. The interior was really clean as well. Highly recommend!

Google
We had an awesome experience at the breakfast club. Service was great and the view of th lake was amazing. The food was tasty. We ordered omelet, crab Benedict, waffle and hot chocolate for kids along with kids burger and eggs. All in all, it was great. Our server was very nice.

Krissy Landes

Google
Cute place right on Mirror lake, so the views are nice. Staff was super friendly. We had to wait about 15 minutes for 2 people on a Sat around 11am. Drinks were good. Food was ok. Nothing too special. Glad we experienced it.

🥞 The Breakfast Club, Etc. – A Morning to Remember 🌄 If you’re in Lake Placid and looking for a breakfast spot that makes your heart and taste buds sing, The Breakfast Club, Etc. is a must-visit. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like cherished guests—warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making sure we were well taken care of. The food? Absolutely stellar. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and comfort—but the showstopper, the crown jewel of the morning, was their French Toast Fondue. I kid you not, it was the highlight of my entire trip. Sweet, indulgent, and utterly unforgettable—I can still taste it, and I’m counting the days until I can go back for more. And the view? Pure magic. The breathtaking scenery right outside the windows added a serene charm to the meal, making every bite feel like a celebration. If you’re heading to Lake Placid, do yourself a favor and start your day here. And whatever you do—don’t leave without trying that French Toast Fondue. Your soul will thank you.

Google
Tasty breakfast and coffees, and the dining room had a lovely view of Mirror Lake. The French toast fondue sauce was very sweet, but my children loved it. We also tried the eggs Benedict which was great. We visited on a weekday morning, and there was no wait for a table.

Google
I got the home made sausage benni for breakfast. Very good choice if I do say so myself. Everyone was friendly. You have a choice of sit down or a take out up front. If I could I’d order the entire menu. A little cold in the winter but I know the view is top notch in the summer Just had the corned beef and hash. Top notch. Convinced that if you may like something on the menu here your gonna like it

Yelp
My first favorite thing about vacationing in Lake Placid is the breathtaking views. My second favorite thing is being able to eat here. I would give it 6 stars if I could. We anticipate having a wait when we come here but we enjoy getting a coffee up front while we wait. If you're lucky enough to get a table near the window, you'll overlook the lake and observe a wide array of activities - boating, fishing, kayaking, etc. A few winters ago we watched people getting dog sled rides and then went outside to try it to! I usually order eggs Benedict. The breakfast burrito is also pretty great. So is the French toast and pancakes. You really can't go wrong with anything off this menu. My mouth is watering while I write this.

Yelp
I have been meaning to write this, and would be remiss if I did not. My girlfriend and I were visiting the area. How could I not stop at a place called "The Breakfast Club"? The film has a special place in my heart. Guess what? No relation to the film. Cool. The menu was fine. Standard fare with a couple of standouts including corned beef hash which I was assured was freshly made. I should note here, our server, who was lovely, went out of her way to say this and noted in dubious fashion that most think it's canned. I ordered this with the eggs and potatoes. We waited a pretty long time and were treated to the noise, and the view of mirror lake completely obscured by landscaping that was ill attended to. Now, the food, let me tell you in my girlfriend's words as she is far more forgiving of such things: "Those were literally the worst potatoes I've ever had." So right! Dry, and tasteless-I'm pretty sure they were just cubed and thrown in an air fryer. No taste. Stale and hard. The rest of the meal was the same. Long and short-nice people, yucky food. Avoid.

Yelp
We stumbled in here on accident while shopping and were extremely pleased that we came in multiple times. I couldn't say enough great things about the Breakfast Club, etc. First off, the whole restaurant has plenty of windows that overlook beautiful Mirror Lake with plenty of spacious seating. The food was next to none. We tried plenty during our two stops including the chicken and waffles and salmon Benedict. Everything was very fresh and extremely tasty.
google avatar

Yelp
Let's start off with the long wait time, our server vanishing after giving our food and when we need to pay. It's kinda understandable because the wait for the food is worth it but the vanishing of our server decreased the experience. The view and food made up for the wait and service, but is never the case all the time. The special for the day was Smoked Brisket Rosti and I'm happy I ordered it. Brisket was smoked well over a bed of crispy potatoes, tomatoes and onions with signature sauce of the day side with crispy bacon. We also had a basic breakfast order of two eggs, crispy home fries and bacon. Overall, food tastes better when you are by water.
google avatar

Yelp
Homey spot in right on Main St in Lake Placid with a dining room that overlooks the water! The server was friendly and my French toast fondue was unique and tasty. Only minor complaint is that The fruit that was served with it did not taste fresh. It may have just been fruit cocktail. Did not deter from my meal though , as I focused on the French toast :)
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Popular breakfast restaurant in downtown Lake Placid. During busy times the wait can be 15-30 minutes. They also have a to go section of the restaurant where you can get pastries and coffee. Service and food were good. I had the salmon eggs benedict which comes with home fries. The home fries weren't great. Some were too hard and a bit bitter. They make good scrambled eggs which were a bit wet and not dry and bland like some places. There are also green and red hot sauces on the table. Street parking or town lot parking only.
google avatar

Hadia G.

Yelp
A great spot for breakfast in lake placid with so much to chose from the menu! They also have lovely views of the lake.. service was a bit on the slower side, but everything was decent. Their pesto Benny was good although there was no avocados but they added tomatoes instead...
google avatar

Layan G.

Yelp
This place is great for breakfast. Once we came in, we were seated in quickly. They serve your typical american breakfast options, ranging from eggs to waffles to pancakes. The food came pretty quickly, and everything was decently good, I just personally didn't enjoy the potatoes. We ordered a chocolate chip pancakes but instead accidently got a blueberry pancake, which both technically look the same until you cut into it. We notified our server who apologized for the mix-up and immediately brought out a chocolate chip pancake. They had fresh orange juice, which was pretty good. The eggs were fine. Our server was nice and friendly. All in all, if you're in Lake Placid, this is a solid option to grab breakfast at!

Yelp
We haven't been here in a few years but decided to stop in this trip. We were sat down right away, it was a bit stuffy where we sat. My husband ordered a normal meat omelette which came with home fries and toast. He said it was average breakfast nothing too special. I ordered veggie Benedict and I enjoyed it very much. I loved the basil pesto hollandaise, it was a simple dish with just spinach and avocado. But the hollandaise made it. We both agreed while the home fries were crispy it had too much seasoning on them for our liking. My little loved the unicorn hot chocolate. Our waitress was amazing and so personable.
google avatar

Howie Y.

Yelp
Seemed like the place most people go to for breakfast in the area. Good views of the lake (every restaurant in the area can have the same said). The omelette I ordered was good, but not as good as the chicken and waffles (which I forgot to take a picture of).
google avatar

Abby C.

Yelp
We had a good time here. Our waitress was wonderful, she was so nice and very personable. There was a little bit of a wait but they sat us when they said they would. The food was good and the drinks were okay. The seating is tight in places and it was cold in the dinning area. We got to-go coffee and hot coco at the take out area which is a cool idea but it neither drink was anything special.
google avatar

Sneha W.

Yelp
You're seated right away. Our server Charles was very quick and attentive to details. The food came in pretty quickly and a was very delicious and flavorful. The unicorn hot chocolate looked so beautiful, fulfilling and festive. The breakfast burrito was huge and taste really fantastic. It's located right by the lake - so great views. The prices are lower as compared to others in the area and compared to the portion size.
google avatar

Daniel A.

Yelp
There was an hour wait for our group of 8 but was well worth it. A must go to for breakfast if you're in Lake Placid. Generous portions and awesome food. The Vermont sausage made me forget about bacon and that's hard. The view of the lake was incredible as we watched the dog sleds going by.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
good espresso but so-so cold brew. crab cakes were decent. the rosti was surprisingly not traditional rosti but just house fried potatoes :( the brie was kind of sparse. also wish the apples were chopped like the sausages and potatoes instead of sliced
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
Good but not great. Had a rosti - made with cubes of fried potato - other times I have had it shredded potatoes are used. Pancakes were on the dry side but not bad. Huge portions. Great view of Mirror Lake. Server was kind and efficient.
google avatar

Yelp
Went yesterday to celebrate climbing, and Marissa's 4.0 in the fall semester. Always great bloody mary's; we had the BBQ, Bacon, and Asian ones, and they were all delicious (Marissa's was sans vodka). I had the crab cake benedict; not the largest volume item on the menu, but great taste and filling nonetheless! Marissa had the Rosti with Apple Brie and Sausage; she said it was amazing. Aimee had the mega burrito which is a favorite of ours. Consistent quality and the wait staff is terrific. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Colette H.

Yelp
I love coming here for breakfast. I've been here many times with family and have loved it every time. This place gets busy, but they can seat parties pretty quickly. I love ordering the French toast. I also love the omelettes here. Their hash browns and coffee are great too. I can't wait to stop back here for breakfast again soon.
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
Overall I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't impressed either. It was 'eh'. Service was nice. A lot of new staff training which will certainly improve. We got right in on a Thursday morning, no wait. I got the corned beef & cheddar "Rostis" frozen potatoes. Canned hash with 2 egg
google avatar

Reagan C.

Yelp
This is my 3rd time back to the breakfast club. My top choice of breakfast and lunch venue in Lake Placid, the ingredients are fresh, great atmosphere, awesome service and a one of a kind drinks menu for brunch or lunch
google avatar

Arashinder D.

Yelp
The service is slow. It's a busy place and shows up as few good choices on yelp however food was underwhelming. I would have rather picked up food from the deli close by!!
google avatar

Desiree K.

Yelp
This has become our favorite breakfast spot in Lake Placid. We were here a few years ago and the experience is even better than I remember. The main dining room is really bright and beautiful. If you're lucky enough to get a seat at the window, you can watch the dog sledding as you enjoy your breakfast. Since the whole room is lined with windows, it's bright and open. The service was great as well. The food was really the star of the show though. We usually get the rösti, which is really delicious and a ton of food. The potato's are nice and crispy and the Hollandaise is perfection. They also have such a nice tasting cup of coffee. We purchased some beans before leaving. Overall, this is our favorite place to have breakfast and I would recommend it to everyone. Try to get there early though. There's usually a wait!
google avatar

Margit M.

Yelp
Let's start out with those views of the lake from any spot in the dining room. If you can, get a table at the window or sit at the bar for those views. Staff were friendly and attentive while keeping the coffee flowing. Food was also good. I had Benedict eggs with bacon. I was hiking in the area and came back a second time on a break from hiking.
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast of all time. Definitely try their homemade cheddar biscuit, it is the best thing ever. The staff is always amazing, friendly servers who are always attentive, and the kitchen staff always exceeds expectations.I love the coffee bar up front, some of the best in the area. When you sit in the dining room there are amazing views of Mirror Lake. Will definitely be back here!

Lori Z.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service quick and friendly. There is a beautiful view of Mirror lake. We enjoyed our first visit so much we returned a second time

Nic D.

Yelp
The food is flat out unbelievable. the service was awesome our server named Charles was very nice and gave us recommendations. The ambiance was like a calm morning diner kind of vibe.
google avatar

Christie B.

Yelp
My breakfast was so good! Eggs Benedict with rosemary sausage and cheese biscuits. Not your normal dish and so good! Served with a big order of hash browns. The bloody Mary's are a must try! Great views and service! Everything is locally sourced! I highly recommend!
google avatar

Tim Z.

Yelp
It's worth the wait. 45 min wait but great service and great food. That's why they have a line. Eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffle omelet and chicken sandwich all awesome.

Dan B.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and had the biscuits and gravy, with two eggs and a side of corned beef hash. The place is old school which I love. The biscuits and gravy are quite tasty, very rich due to the cheddar cheese biscuits, though gravy could have been a tad warmer. Eggs cooked perfectly. Now for the hash... fantastic, the real deal made everyday, not out of a can. Melissa behind the bar was terrific, professional and friendly. Minus one star for the host being grumpy... not a smile, not a good morning, not welcoming at all, needs to be trained up that he's the first thing customers see and interact with. Having said that, good grub. Recommend.
google avatar

Don J.

Yelp
If you come to Lake Placid and do not eat at the Breakfast Club, you are missing out! The staff is funny and engaging, genuinely caring about your service, and the atmosphere is both quiet and very family-oriented.
google avatar

Varsha T.

Yelp
Best food and ambience. The service time was a bit longer. We make sure go here every time we are in Lake Placid. It's a great place. Love the view.

Kathy M.

Yelp
We were immediately seated at 9 on a Friday morning. We had a nice table by a window looking out on trees and the lake. Our server,Charles, seemed stand offish but knowledgeable. The food was quite good, especially the cinnamon butter. Made the pancakes, waffles and French toast taste even better.
google avatar

adam l.

Yelp
Like a lot of places on mirror lake, the view is great (5/5 if next to the windows). We went here a few times during our stay and the food was generally a good 3-4/5 depending on what we ordered. The bananas foster french toast was amazing, the rostis I tried twice always had too many potatoes compared to other things and the veggie one was bland. Coffee was solid 4.5/5 for me. My wife liked the mimosas and cocktails, so 5/5 there. Overall, a decent choice for a hot breakfast, but could be beat.
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
The Breakfast Club serves the absolute best breakfast I have ever had!!!! The eggs were fluffy, my blueberry mimosa was amazing, the corned beef hash was out of this world! The pancakes were light and fluffy. I can't say enough good things about breakfast or brunch here!!!

Tim L.

Yelp
Two visits this week having breakfast for lunch since our hotel breakfast is included. Excellent food and service both times.
google avatar

Ani P.

Yelp
Our fav breakfast place in Lake Placid had to come twice on our visit! Had a nice sit down breakfast the first time around everything was incredible! 2nd time we came in for take out their Açaí bowls, smoothies, and bagels are just as delicious! Great place, don't forget to pick up some breakfast sauce (we forgot and totally regret not buying any to take home)!!
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
Really really disappointed by the quality and quantity of the food. Don't know if they switched out the chefs. Pros: - The same friendly waiters/waitresses Cons: - Completely understand that inflation caused quantity to go down but the quality of the food should remain the same. The chicken that came with the chicken and waffles tasted like frozen tenders from the fridge. Really sad since it was one of our favorite dishes.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Poached egg dish and omelette were on point. Also enjoyed the Bourbon Sunrise, although it didn't seem very bourbony (maybe the OJ overpowered it some, but would still get it again). Had to ask for silverware. Overall great experience

Brian C.

Yelp
I ordered a side of the cinnamon butter pancakes and they were the best pancakes my girlfriend or I had ever had. 10/10 would recommend
google avatar

Yates J.

Yelp
Friendly, attentive staff made us come back two days in a row. Lots of options for breakfast and brunch. View of the lake was nice! Omelettes were super solid, smoothie bowls were great, and coffee was yummy. Only thing I'd say is if recommended avoiding the corned beef hash if you are used to the large chunky type- their hash was more like finely ground and nothing to really chew on. Last note- cheddar biscuits were delicious!

Andrew N.

Yelp
Top notch this place is awesome!!!!! The biscuits and gravy WITH CHICKEN TENDERS, is out of this world!!! Get the tenders, you won't be disappointed. Staff is great and seats you quickly as possible. Could tell they were understaffed, but they get the job done! Kudos! From omelettes to biscuits, everything is a great choice. Don't forget about the amazing cocktails and coffees to choose from. If you're lucky you can get a lake view table!
google avatar

Jessica O.

Yelp
My husband and I both had the French toast and it was delicious! The cinnamon butter and pure maple syrup combined to be a perfect match. The latte I had was delicious. Service was quick but not rushed and our server was very friendly. Overheard another server explaining to the table next to us that they make their own sausage there, wished we'd ordered a side of that as it sounded amazing. The view was beautiful overlooking the lake and we enjoyed how the suns reflection was creating a relaxing shimmer effect throughout the restaurant.

Yelp
After a disappointing anniversary 'nondinner' at Purple Saige the night before, what a delight to meet a friend at one of our favorite Lake Placid haunts. The Breakfast Club, with its amazing view of Mirror Lake, has a very interesting and diverse menu guaranteed to appeal to every breakfast-lover on the planet. And they have a bar. This was not our first meal here, and I can assure you it won't be our last. It's always on the schedule whether visiting the area on business (which we were for this trip) or leisure. The restaurant is right across the street from High Peaks Resort, a very convenient location on Main Street for us because we like this hotel a lot. We love this place. First, their menu is pretty amazing. OK, so let's get this out of the way ... what they call "roti" is not authentic. Swiss roti is similar to hash browns (shredded potatoes). At the BC, they serve home fries and call it roti. How do I know this? My first husband was Swiss and we traveled to Switzerland often. But, home fries or not, where else can you find a combo of local apples, brie and sausage? Nowhere, I suspect. The egg bennies - including one with crab cakes that our friend, Lisa, enjoyed - are pretty awesome, as well. They value their customers. I ordered the aforementioned roti combination which normally comes with maple sausage. I don't care for maple-flavored anything, except perhaps the 'real deal' on pancakes and waffles. Switching the maple sausage out for their delicious, savory rosemary sausage was no problem ... it was a good choice and made me very happy. They have a fabulous drink menu. Our Bloodie and Peach Kiss Mimosas were a lovely addition to our delicious entrees. Prices are fair and reasonable. And excellent service with a smile from our waitress, Tea (as in Leone), shown in the photo. Be sure to include the BC on your next trip to Lake Placid.
google avatar

Jenée O.

Yelp
Can get a little crazy/ busy but that is only a good thing in my eyes. Could use some updates in the dining room but all around the food is always spot on & the service is very good. LOVE coming here for breakfast after a sunrise hike in the high peaks, almost mandatory! Lol
google avatar

Abigail S.

Yelp
Honestly the best breakfast place I have ever ate. It was so good, we ate at it every morning. All 5 days we were in town. IT IS THAT GOOD. The service was impeccable. The waiter we had was absolutely hilarious and gave us top service. The prices also can not be beat. It was $40 for our meals, but we left so full and satisfied!
google avatar

Kelli S.

Yelp
Let me start with the positive, great views and very friendly staff. I am giving 3 stars for that alone because the food was incredibly awful. I didn't realize anyone could make a bad breakfast but mine was horrible. I ordered pancakes and ham. How hard can that be. The "ham" was very thin sliced lunch meat... fried! It was horrible. Pancakes, simple enough. Nope, they were too sweet and heavy vanilla flavor. I couldn't eat any of it. Maybe this was just my specific meal but in my opinion if you are frying VERY thin slices lunchmeat and calling it ham, that's a quality issue that isn't just specific to my meal.

M M.

Yelp
Went for breakfast, it's like any dinner or cafe you'd find through out NY. Hard working attentive staff that appreciate your business, solid breakfast, reasonably priced menu and the best Bloody Marys I ever had. Well Done!
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
If you have to get breakfast while in Lake Placid, go to The Breakfast Club!! There can tend to be a wait, but it goes quick. They have a full bar (get a Bloody Mary) and an extensive breakfast menu. I got the eggs Benedict with sausage on a cheddar biscuit - delicious! Everyone in our party raved about their dishes and we definitely left satisfied and full. Shout out to our waiter too - he was excellent!
google avatar

Deb B.

Yelp
Stopped here on a Monday morning after dropping my husband off to hike a mountain. I ordered regular coffee, though they have a selection of coffee drinks. My omelet was perfect and served with rye toast and some potatoes. Service is good, coffee is hot with refills and food was tasty. I thought it was a bit overpriced

Alesya D.

Yelp
Everyone was raving about this place so I gave it a try. It was ok. Farmhouse cafe is so much more flavorful and authentic food. Great views and service. Mocha was very watery and again just ok. Portions are very good.
