After a disappointing anniversary 'nondinner' at Purple Saige the night before, what a delight to meet a friend at one of our favorite Lake Placid haunts. The Breakfast Club, with its amazing view of Mirror Lake, has a very interesting and diverse menu guaranteed to appeal to every breakfast-lover on the planet. And they have a bar.
This was not our first meal here, and I can assure you it won't be our last. It's always on the schedule whether visiting the area on business (which we were for this trip) or leisure. The restaurant is right across the street from High Peaks Resort, a very convenient location on Main Street for us because we like this hotel a lot.
We love this place. First, their menu is pretty amazing. OK, so let's get this out of the way ... what they call "roti" is not authentic. Swiss roti is similar to hash browns (shredded potatoes). At the BC, they serve home fries and call it roti. How do I know this? My first husband was Swiss and we traveled to Switzerland often. But, home fries or not, where else can you find a combo of local apples, brie and sausage? Nowhere, I suspect. The egg bennies - including one with crab cakes that our friend, Lisa, enjoyed - are pretty awesome, as well.
They value their customers. I ordered the aforementioned roti combination which normally comes with maple sausage. I don't care for maple-flavored anything, except perhaps the 'real deal' on pancakes and waffles. Switching the maple sausage out for their delicious, savory rosemary sausage was no problem ... it was a good choice and made me very happy.
They have a fabulous drink menu. Our Bloodie and Peach Kiss Mimosas were a lovely addition to our delicious entrees.
Prices are fair and reasonable.
And excellent service with a smile from our waitress, Tea (as in Leone), shown in the photo.
Be sure to include the BC on your next trip to Lake Placid.
