"In the charming village of Bridge, within the Nailbourne Valley, lies this 16th-century pub with low beams, open fires and plenty of character. The highly skilled cooking is available in a range of forms – from snacks like buttermilk fried chicken to dishes cooked over charcoal in the Josper oven – and often highlights prime seasonal produce cooked with exacting detail and consummate seasoning. The Kentish apple tart is a great example of what they do, showing off local produce and the kitchen's strong pastry techniques. They have a period cottage nearby for those looking to stay the night." - Michelin Inspector

The Cheapest Michelin Star Restaurants For Dinner in the UK & Ireland

"This smart pub boasts gorgeous fireplaces, a large garden and, crucially, excellent cooking. Superb produce is the bedrock of it all, with dishes executed well to make the most of the ingredients. Sauces are a particular highlight, proving to be packed with flavour, well-balanced and showing a good degree of depth. There’s a great buzz to both the charming bar and more formal restaurant area. 3 Courses, Weds-Thurs Dinner – £35 3 Courses, Wed-Fri Lunch – £35" - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

The detour is so worth it. The food was incredibly fresh - it felt like I was eating a scallop for the first time ever (and I’m a big fan). Staff were very amicable and gentle. The oysters were beyond delicious. Fish was juicy and had the perfect contrast with its sauce. Bravo to the team

Really excellent restaurant with beautiful food, service and drinks. We had the £35 set lunch which was superb. All 3 courses were lovely and the bread service was as good as youd expect from a 1* which is to say superb! Service friendly and welcoming. Great well kept cask pint of london pride and glasses of wine from £6. What more could you ask for?

We loved the Sunday Roast here, the food was cooked to perfection, service attentive, wine list extensive! It is well worth the michelin star and our family voted this as one of our favorite meals of the trip.

Lovely place and very tasty food. However one of the staff members had no clue what sharing plate is. Tartare was ok not the best. But all other dishes we had were TOP NOTCH. Very tasty!

Roaring fireplace. People at the bar in wellies. Informal feeling. The countryside boy in me wanted to love it more. I will admit, it was some of the better pub food I have had for a while. Very hospitable. Good selection of wine too. It just didn’t feel either creative or innovative enough for a Michelin star. We shared the raw scallops and creamy muscles for starter and the glazed short rib for main with sides of creamy mash and cabbage. But for £250 with a lower end bottle of Italian wine, we both felt we’d had similar for less at gastro north London pubs. No fault with the food, just wonder if those in wellies just having pints and snacks at the bar got it right.

Was rather disappointed by the beef tartar (overloaded with capers) and the sticky toffee pudding (the portion was rather small but the ice-cream was good tho). The olives and cod row were amazing tho! The service was decent but the food took a long time to arrive. For the price, didn't feel like the experience matched

The food was faultless - the crab starter was beautiful, my partner said the trout starter was the best trout he’d ever had and then the roast beef lunch was sensational. The young lady that served us was also lovely, so friendly and professional - refreshing. Would wholeheartedly recommend and this was my 234th Michelin meal so feel I can say that it was super! Credit to the team and a lovely pub setting
