From the first day that we have had to be here the assistants in the Welcome building have been so rude and condescending. You can come to them as polite and kind as can be and they will still be rude with a bad attitude. Now the Overflow list, tell me how you can do what you’re suppose to do, go up to the desk make the request and not make the list and still get put out to where you have to find somewhere to go. The reason why I came here is because I didn’t have anywhere to go. I wouldn’t recommend anybody come here if you somehow become homeless for one reason or another.

I would actually give this 0 stars if I could. My wife and I tried going here for some shelter so we both could recuperate and rest. (We were referred by Our Calling.) We were both exhausted and drained. She was reading over the paperwork and had read about them going through your things at any given time. She placed the papers on the table and we both walked out. The security guard asked us if we got in and we both told him that we weren't signing up for prison.

Gave me an late pass when I began working for a return @ 2am, I made my return at 1:30am to be told my bed was lost because there was no record of the pass. Additionally, got a three month ban from the location because after losing my bed they would not return my belongings. Had to call the police 2 to have them give me my social security card which was sent there in the mail. It is my understanding that because I was recovering fast, gaining a job within the first month of being there, that they were using me to make an example out of. The idea being if I can receive punishment for just holding the facility to its own rules/putting in grievances that anyone can receive punishment for anything so make no complaints.

I don't have an option. There are people God prioritizes and would put in a place to only help others and of those people we would expect them to help in doing the same. I'm not sure what these people who should be assisting are putting in place of their priorities but I believe it's causing people to tear down homes. If you made friends on welfare, I can only come and go to expect a decent wage, nothing less, nothing more. The intake building all year claims to be broke. The welcome building claims to be broke. Instead of references, a list of resources is quite often made a last resort. Sad.

Review: A Grateful Reflection on The Bridge and the Women Who Showed Up for Me I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the kindness, encouragement, and support I’ve received at The Bridge during a deeply difficult transition in my life. When I was overwhelmed, displaced, and unsure of what to do next, two women in particular made all the difference. Miss Brown spoke to me over the phone for nearly 30 minutes. She didn’t rush me. She listened. She walked me through next steps with clarity, patience, and care — reminding me of what was possible when everything felt uncertain. Her voice held peace. Her guidance was grounded. And in that moment, I needed both more than I can say. Miss Sharon K., who completed my intake, showed me the kind of advocacy that doesn’t just check boxes — it restores dignity. She encouraged me, spoke life into my circumstances, and made sure I understood that I wasn’t alone. That I mattered. That I had options. Her presence gave me hope. Tonika M. also offered practical and informed support. She took time to advise me of specific housing options I might be eligible for and connected me with resources that aligned with my needs. She didn’t just point me in a direction — she helped illuminate the path. People often speak up when they’ve been wronged — and rightfully so. But I want to be someone who also speaks up when people do it right. So thank you, Mrs. Brown, Sharon K., and Tonika M., for showing up with grace and wisdom during one of the hardest moments of my life. I see you. I appreciate you. And I pray The Bridge continues to be a refuge for those of us who need a soft landing while we rebuild. With deep gratitude, Virginia Williams

Google
0 stars. Some staff and guards are nice The men and women (some) are nice. Bird shit all over the place outside and in the outside bathroom. Im on a mat but some women are very noisy. They make you stay outside in the heat early in the mornings, for breakfast lunch and dinner. They make you stay outside until 8:30 would give 0 stars some staff and guards think they are all that . As soon as I get my tx id card in am out of here. Food very disgusting. I have been in other shelters in new york, Los Angeles and Wichita Falls TX This is the worst one.

I did everything i was expected to do, and tonight im back on the street at 4.30 pm with no options because of an administrative error by a case manager who neglected to update my file and include me in the night shelter. I will not have dinner to eat and I will risk arrest for vagrancy I'm about to start emailing board members since the voicemailbox is full this is unacceptable and poor performance

Very beautiful and Caring place. I loved volunteering. I cannot wait to help again. The people are so thankful and friendly. Very humbling experience. A must do on your bucket list. I encourage everyone to go online an find the information and volunteer or contribute in any way possible. The serve 3 meals a day. It is only 1.5 hours and I loved my experience. I'm definitely volunteering on a regular basis. I poured water and visited with the guests. Loved it.

Yelp
This is an ideal place if you or someone else is experiencing homelessness . I have referred many individuals here who have experienced unstable housing . The Bridge has multiple services which include bed/mat placement, case management , mental health services , kennel services , and much more . They accept individuals without identification. Like any other place , it is strongly advised to get here early to go through the intake process. Intake involves meeting with a case manager and getting setup with the system. A bridge ID will be provided for service coordination. It is extremely hard to get anyone on the phone for information and mailbox is usually full. There is a curfew time and meal setup is unclear. There is a donation box I utilize frequently in the staff parking lot . The homeless epidemic is growing at an alarming rate and The Bridge is playing a vital and essential role towards helping individuals in Dallas.

Yelp
I went to the Bridge and the way they be talking to people is very unprofessional and rude. I decided I would let the Lord continue to order my steps and leave this place before I talked to any of the Women. The way they disrespect the people that's coming in there for support and help just broke my heart. I've worked at Government agencies before for years and let me tell you, we would have been fired or written up. Our offices didn't tolerate us being verbally abusive to people we are supposed to be helping. I've been in customer service all of my life and never seen people act like them at work when they're supposed to be the professionals. I get time to time customers will get out of hand but none of them were acting out even when they were being belittled and talked to as if they weren't human beings. I really don't know who is funding them because you might want to rethink about donating to other non profit agencies that actually can do their jobs professionally. They seriously need to go back to training because they have no clue of what people are dealing with and it's all of us Americans right now. I hope they never have to go through this and then be treated badly. Truth be told we are all one paycheck away from being homeless. It takes nothing to be kind to someone. If they Don't value their job, please give it to someone who would appreciate it. 0000

Yelp
The Bridge is a haven and source of hope for the homeless population of Dallas. It offers a number of services including (but not limited to) housing, counseling and meals. It also allows those more fortunate a chance to "give back." The area of care I'm most familiar with is the meal service having volunteered there a few times. What I like about the program is that, in addition to feeding them, individuals are subject to a number of requirements. For instance, IDs are required for admittance. No food is allowed to leave the dining room, and so forth. Meal times are strictly enforced. And they serve three meals a day every day of the year. I've only worked on the serving line for supper a few times. The meals, though institutional, seem well balanced and nourishing. Volunteers are not allowed to sample the food. And speaking of volunteers, there's a continuing need which is filled by church groups, civic groups, school clubs and individuals. The evening meal, for instance, requires 8 - 10 volunteers and takes about an hour and a half of a persons time. Fenced parking is available. In a time of social and political polarization it is heartwarming to see folks of different backgrounds come together for the good of others.

Yelp
...so I really felt like I was wronged by a staff member. ..I was told to fill out complaint form...I did...heard later it was under investigation. ..weeks later now...I realized I haven't seen the staff members in a while...I don't know what to say. ..likely there were other complaints. ..but I feel like the process worked

Yelp
Unles the changed their ways since 2008 will give this place 1 star based on my experiense of homelessness back then and current testimonies from actual homless. The have the resourses but for some reason. They were not presented to me. Ilost my job and had nowhere to go. I needed shelter and the The Bridge seemed like hope when I arrived there one night. I was excited only because the facility was new and they had resourses to get me back on to my feet. I was actually on my own here. One day I sat in the waiting area from 8:30 am-5:00 pm waiting for a caseworker so Ican het established for work. I only got up for quick restroom breaks and limited smoke breaks so i dont miss my call. 5:30 came around and they was gone. I was one of the first on the roster and they ignored me. I was devastated. The next day the staff was acting more hostlile. I just didnt understand why. I began to feel unwelcome. I left and started sleeping under a bridge or in the park. No money. No food. I was 28 years old and gave in. I left the state to stay with my mother for a while. I then earned my CDL and drove trucks since then. No thanks to The Bridge. What made me give this testimony after so long was the current media coverage. Some have good stories but most was for the consern for the homeless. I feel that this organization dont really help homless as they say they do. True there are a few they provide assistance and advertise their stories of success but in reality they are the few and the proud. And most of the one they help has some sort of income like a disability check. As for the rest that has nothing, they will let them go their course like I had to. I made it out of determination but for the rest they will let them dig deeper into the hole they are in until they cant climb out. Some do make that choice but for people like me alike who came seeking for help may or may not make it with The Bridge's help. They will treat you as if you cant become better which can discourage an individual. I have seen people in there where you can only feed and provide but some had potential. Potential that is negated by the ones who claim they are the saints of the city. Like I said they have the resourses but they arw unfair with them. They would not let me accesss what I needed to get back on my feet. I was on my own which is basiclly what is happening to some of the homeless today. $21,000,000 of taxpayer money for a facility that half serves its purpose. They are not even 24 hr emergency accessible.
