I was in Denver for a work conference, and was told about this restaurant by a colleague. Because of my early life and background, I was very excited to have some authentic British and Indian (Pakistani) food. The menu listed so many good options and I almost wanted to try them all. The classics of bangers and mash, to original English breakfast, to some genuine chicken curry. Mmmm, I could almost smell the food even while walking from 8 blocks away.
To be completely honest, it was largely a disappointment. I have been eating authentic samosas since I was 5, but what they served as samosas looked more like fried quesadillas with potatoes inside. The taste wasn't bad, but sorry, these were not samosas. And samosas are never served with garden ranch dressing.
I ordered the chicken masala. That was the best part as it was truly delicious. And the heat (spice) was just about perfect. The naan bread that came with it was also very good. But when I asked for chutney, the waitress gave me some chopped tomatoes and cilantro, saying that was the chutney. Um, no folks, in America that is called salsa. Chutney is made of mango or peaches or ginger or apricot!
My friend had the fish and chips which I see on Yelp has great reviews. He said it was good, but I know he was missing the malt and vinegar.
When in Denver next I'll likely give them another shot because I was impressed with the curry, and I may want to try the fish. But in terms of authenticity on some of their menu items, I still have questions.
