This Station's Broiler Steakhouse was the only one I had never visited and I decided to try it tonight. It was a mistake.
Right after being seated, I was asked by my server if I wanted to order an appetizer. After asking about the size of the fried calamari, I went with the loaded potato chowder which is meant more for one person.
After bringing my iced tea and giving me time to look at the menu, my server returned. The sizes of the steaks are not listed on the menu so I asked the size of the NY and the sirloin. The NY was 12 ounces so I ordered that cooked (BLUE). I placed my order, but no appetizer was forthcoming even though it was ordered at least 5 mminutes earlier.
I waited for quite a while when a runner brought the soup. It was lukewarm, the first of what would portend a less than satisfactory dinner. It was very different in presentation. The menu says--russet potatoes, bacon, cheddar fries, scallions, and sour cream. I started to eat the soup and about 5 minutes into it, the same runner came with my steak, looked at the soup I had left, said,"I'm sorry," and moved some plates to make room for the steak and the asparagus. I was going to hurry to finish the soup, but I thought the steak was more important.
Placing the soup aside (see photos), I started in on the steak which was more rare than BLUE. The steak was OK. The winner of the meal was the asparagus.
A few things about the meal: 1) Aide from the soup being lukewarm, it should be named overloaded potato soup. Under the onion straws were three (I think--I didn't finish it), waffle fried potatoes. That along with the bacon, scallions, and regular potatoes was overload. 2) Chefs, please don't overdo steaks that are requested BLUE. If on some strange planet, this was not cooked enough for me, you could add more heat to it. You cannot undo the cooking you already put into the steak. 3) Servers, be aware of what and when you bring food to tables and manage timing.
The food and beverage manager was there and when he stopped at my table I mentioned that a steak should never be brought while one is still eating an appetizer. He disagreed with me. I could agree if the person had some salad they had not yet finished. But soup (which is meant to be hot) is also meant to be consumed before the main course. I was not on my phone. I ate at a quick pace which is normal for me. It turned out it wan't quick enough.
Dessert was chocolate lava cake. It was good but lava cakes are so last year!
I tried the Broiler at Boulder Station but I won't be back. This is a one and done! There are so many better options.
