The Best Restaurants in the Excelsior District in San Francisco | Eater SF

"With more than 300 whiskeys and a satisfying menu, a big back patio and pool tables and dart boards, Broken Record is a beloved dive with a lot going for it. Currently, Chicano Nuevo is serving a Mexican menu of Baja Fish Tacos, Squid Ink Tamales, and Wu-Tang Flan." - Becky Duffett

The Best Neighborhood Restaurants in San Francisco | Eater SF

"This Excelsior neighborhood bar has a whiskey selection of more than 200 bottles to choose from and a warm and friendly staff. If you’re looking for something different, ask for rumple minze, a German liquor that leaves your mouth feeling minty fresh. And operating within the bar, Chicano Nuevo serves non-traditional bar food like squid ink tamales stuffed with shredded beef and fish tacos with salmon consomme." - Rob Willis

First the restaurant in the back was AMAZING. It is not the same place Guy Fieri reviewed on Diners and Dive.. so no BBQ.. That place has been replaced by an amazing young couple and thier yummy small, well executed menu. It is the Restaurant in the back of this place. Just walk on through the bar and enjoy mouth watering Tri tip tacos, Carne Asada fries, fish tacos, and taquitos. You will not be sad if you do. The bar on the other hand, it is a separate place oddly. It was ok. Not anything like advertised. Service was not good, drinks poorly made. The bar tender although nice, charged differently each time....go for the food, get a shot of tequila. The bar is cash 💸 only.. restaurant takes card.

I loved this little gem of a hole in the wall bar 🍻 in the Lower Mission. It's closing soon. Their food was amazing and so was their beer! So sad to see it go.😥

Great local bar with cheap ($6 beer). Friendly people. Good amount of seating. Great music (rock/metal ). Attached restaurant with comfort food.

Always a good time in this club. No pretense here. Locals keep it real. Knowledgeable barkeeps Christine, Bret, Liz and Johnny pour fresh IPA's, or selections from the extensive whiskey menu. Do yourself a favor and order something Sarah, Whitney or Bonnie are creating in the kitchen. This IS the place. Thanks, Jason.

Liz is a great host and bartender. Great beer on draft and great vibes for a cash only dive bar. Will be back.

Broken Record is closed. It's now The Halfway Club. Look it up! It's great!

Love this Excelsior neighborhood spot! Great burgers and some good salads. Lots of whiskey full bar and beer! And Tiki Tuesday is fun and delicious!

The Bbq brisket is very tasty. I really liked the baked mac and the baked beans. The garlic bread was a nice touch on the BBQ plate.
