5 Great Things To Eat In South Kensington

"Like eating ice cream in bed or getting a nipple piercing during your punk phase, having brunch in South Kensington just makes sense. A classic Saturday morning game plan is fuelling up on tasty things, so that you have enough emotional and physical strength for a day of shopping and checking out the latest exhibitions. On that note, we give you Brompton Food Market. Tucked behind Thurloe Place, this lowkey grocery and deli has a covered secret garden situation which serves big-deal brunch dishes. In our humble opinion, their full English is one of the best in west London. Don’t skip the smoothies either. Or get involved in the shakshuka at buzzing coffee spot, Fernandez and Wells. If that place happens to be characteristically rammo, then you also can’t go wrong with a lowkey brunch situation at the homely café inside the Institut Francais, Café Tangerine." - heidi lauth beasley

13 Quiet Patios Because This Is All Still A Bit Much

"It’s Sunday. And the only thing you’re in the mood for right now is scrambled eggs, some fresh OJ, and absolutely no David Guetta. Whether you went too far with the sesh, or if just the thought of being that close to other sweaty humans makes you itch for some hand sanitiser and alone time, Brompton Food Market has got your back. This lowkey grocery and deli in South Kensington has a covered secret garden situation which is serving up some solid brunch dishes. And as well as that, they’re open till 8pm in the summer, so you can enjoy a cocktail in their hidden garden." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

Really lovely staff and all halal! I don’t eat pork so this was great! The staff let me try a bit of beef chorizo before I got a sandwich as I’m funny about textures and was worried it would feel too much like I was eating pork ahaha I ended up getting the tuna avo and was obviously amazing quality. Good fresh bread with nice seeds, could taste the EVOO and the tuna was not overly mayonnaisey as the avocado added the creaminess. Good price too!

Beautiful clean deli. High quality produce. Fresh sandwiches to go, and fully packed. I had the Salmon Bagel and will highly recommend - it was delicious. To accompany it - I had one of the best oat milk cappuccinos I think I’ve had in London. Couldn’t be happier to have found this gem. Thanks to the wonderful Deli team for your suggestions and kind service.

The beef pastrami sandwich is a must to try if you visit! Plus it’s halal too! It’s all made fresh and it’s so filling. The pastrami is slightly spicy but compliments the salad inside nicely! The deli does other things too in case you wanted a sweet treat! Definitely a visit if you are in West Brompton! Only a few minutes walk from the tube station for on the go lunch or snack!

Tried Smoked Salmon Bagel, Tuna and Avocado Sandwich, Cheddar & Pickle Ploughman's and the Almond croissant. I did not go to the shop myself (someone else picked it up for me) so cannot comment on Service and Atmosphere. Excellent quality ingredients that are generous and fresh. I loved all that I sampled. The filling in the almond croissant was not sickeningly sweet which I appreciated.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fresh, Flavorful, and Absolutely Worth It These sandwiches are next-level delicious. You can taste the freshness in every bite—high-quality ingredients, perfectly balanced bread-to-filling ratio, and flavors that genuinely satisfy. Whether you're grabbing lunch or treating yourself to something hearty, this place delivers on taste and craftsmanship. Not your average sandwich spot—this is a must-try for anyone who appreciates real quality and generous portions. Highly recommend!

Cute deli and the lady that helped us was very nice and the prices were very reasonable. We came because of the high reviews but were quite shocked at the food and drink not being good. I think people are being really kind with their reviews to help out a small business and I generally support that but unfortunately that doesn't lead to improvement which is needed here. I now understand why the coffee shop nearby was packed while this place was empty.

A cute little deli located in a quiet residential area. The egg and cress sandwich is amazing! The worker was super warm and lovely too. Highly recommended for a quick and delicious takeout meal.

Edit 2: Ok, it seems like the issues with bread supply have improved, since the last 3 times I've gone there has been bread. Please keep it up! Edit: If you consistently run out, you need to order more in advance. It's correct to have some leftover at the end of the day which is then disposed of. The pricing should be such that you can afford to have some left over. If the next 3 times I go to buy bread, there's some in stock, I'll change this review to 5 stars. Look, everything here is high quality, but they usually run out of bread by 11am. There's no point at all coming at lunch time or in the afternoon. How could a deli run out bread? If they could consistently keep stuff in stock I would go here everyday, but they can't. It's really frustrating to come here and have to go home empty handed. When I complained, they said to "come earlier." But then someone else would be left disappointed. They're also unreliable with keeping vegetables in stock, but it's not quite as bad as the bread situation.
