The Brooklyn Kitchen

I love stopping by to see what new and unique goods they may have. I'm always sure to visit the meat counter and get some kind of preserved meat. The lamb bacon is a fun and different pick. They also have all kinds of local dairies, cheeses, condiments, etc.

My favorite kitchen supply store/grocery store/butcher/fishmonger/cooking class/cookbook shop in the city. Amazingly friendly service, great eclectic selections on just about anything for the kitchen from the food you eat to the utensils you eat them with to the pans you cook them on. Great selection of fermentation equipment from home beer brewing to pickling to vinegar making. The classes are great. Lots of interesting 2 hour classes taught by experts. Classes come with a 10% discount coupon so if you plan ahead and spend enough money at the store, the class pays for itself! Can't believe it took me so long to discover The Brooklyn Kitchen.

The staff here is fantastic, the vast array of kitchen supplies is outrageous, and the classes are wonderful. Anything you could imagine doing in your own kitchen, Brooklyn Kitchen can outfit you to do it. While the prices don't always compete with Amazon, supporting an awesome local business wins out in the end. Definitely worth the hike from the subway!

Great place for those who love to cook and eat. They have specialty ingredients, cookware, and a counter with a range of natural meats. They also hold a lot of classes on everything from knife techniques to butchering to home brewing (and speaking of home brewing, they have an extensive corner of home brewing supplies in a corner upstairs). They also have a small but varied cookbook corner. All in all, a wonderful store.

The Brooklyn Kitchen is more than just a destination to pickup some groceries, it's also a culinary experience. I've done plenty of shopping here, but the best of my experiences came in the way of a cooking class. The chef was assisted by one of the owners and together they guided and taught a class of about fifteen customers. It was four hours of learning, shopping at the local farmers market and then returning to the classroom to prepare our simply delicious five course meal. Highly recommended.

Brooklyn Kitchen and The Meat Hook which is located in the same space are both great places to shop. Brooklyn kitchen has tons of equipment at reasonable prices and their grocery section is very nice though the selection is somewhat limited. The Meat Hook is a good quality butcher which is convenient to have on location.

I took a knife skills class here and really enjoyed it. They have a nice large teaching kitchen and plenty of supplies to go around. The instructor was very funny and entertaining and made what could be quite mundane quite fun. We were all given several vegetables and a knife and shown how to do a variety of cuts and preparations. If you've already had some sort of knife skills lesson it may be a bit slow. The instructor used the veggies to make a fried rice which we got to snack on after.

Absolutely unreservedly five stars. Brooklyn Kitchen has gone from a slightly-embarrassing little store on Lorimer to a don't-miss stop on Frost, and high-fives to them for that. This store should be the first stop for visiting foodies, on the cutting edge of everything edible with their nose-to-tail butchery and bulk oil/vinegar sales. Definitely the place to go for gifts! If you're single, check out the personals ads just to the right as you enter. A single computer professional will make me an Israeli feast if I bring the wine? Well, okay!
