Went here for dinner on new years eve and I was sceptical...but what a pleasant surprise! Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The first win was and I will mention this because most restaurants don't have cider in any other flavors other than apple. The second win were the mains the beef short ribs (melt in your mouth soft) could have been slightly more seasoned though and the pistachio encrusted halibut was great. Finished off with espresso creme brulee which was done perfectly (cold and hot in the right places) Overall a very pleasant experience, I would definitely recommend and go again.

Our first meal in Halifax came just up the street from our Airbnb. What a fantastic surprise: the food was excellent, the presentation excellent, one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time traveling. A must stop if you are visiting the city. Reservations maybe required.

We live here since 9 months ago ne I wanted so much to try this place. It’s done and we will come back again: the food is excellent and so tasty! The place and the service are very pleasant.

Top-notch food. Some of the best I've eaten in Halifax. I had a potato leek soup, which was very good, although I could have done without the pickled mustard seeds. One of my baguette slices was toasted beyond edibility but that was quickly corrected. My entree was a short rib, which was very, very rich. It was served with hasselback potatoes covered in a delicious sauce, and a broccoli cooked with olive oil, lemon, and salt. They were the best-tasting broccoli I've ever had, and one of the highlights of the meal. My wife had halibut with "French gnocchi" which she loved, too. I had a few bites of the gnocchi and it was creamy and delicious.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing .. I love that you can see the old front of store wall in the windowed in area we were in. Food was really good and our server was absolutely fantastic. The menu was a little on the pricey side.

Took my sister here for a birthday lunch. The place has a nice ambience and creative menu. They're vegan friendly and I got a really nice falafel bowl. I also got some triple cooked fries and they were to die for seriously. Other people in our party got the burgers and the risotto. The risotto had quite a big piece of char fish. Two main problems: parking is very, very difficult... if you have a reservation you should probably try and be early in case you need to drive around a lot to find a spot. There's a lot across the street but you have to call a number and leave a credit card, which we weren't prepared to do. Secondly the portions are a bit small, but the prices are pretty good.. I would probably get an appetizer next time.

There are a few out of the way gems that we happen upon every-so-often. This is one of them! We’re in Halifax for a wedding tomorrow, staying close by and saw this place as we walked by, twice. The food was very good, the server was excellent! But be warned...we were told that the menu changes often, though I’m sure it will just as good as what was on the menu when we ate here. The wine recommended was first class, at $75/bottle it sounded expensive, but when I looked it up on the internet, found that it retails for over $88. (They have less expensive wines on their list but this one sounded so good from the description that we had to get it). It DID NOT disappoint! A bit noisy at times, but well worth the visit.

Delicious food. Relaxed atmosphere. My partner had the mussels and sirloin and I had the scallops and halibut. All were really enjoyable. Wil definitely be back for more.

Five Star food and service Table of 5 from Ontario. Can't overstate how incredible the food and service was. The menu really had something to please everyone. Oysters, halibut, burger, risotto. Our server Tamara was exceptional, seemed to read the table and our needs in a professional and warm way. It was away from the tourist feel of the area. It was a memorable evening in this hidden gem of a restaurant.

Excellent food and vibe. The Halibut was perfect. So were the mussels. Great attentive staff. I could eat here every day.

My husband and I were visiting Halifax on our road trip through Canada and found this restaurant based on the yelp reviews. The food and service were excellent! I had the halibut with chive mashed potatoes which was delicious. My husband had the shrimp and pasta dish. He totally enjoyed It but I was surprised that the shrimp were not deveined which is something I am accustomed to. Shout out to our server Anthony for making our experience so great!

We had an amazing meal here to kick off our Halifax trip. Menu is small but varied enough so that everyone can find their preferred dish. We had the dragons breath salad and the lamb ragu. With a name like dragons breath, I would expect a super garlicy but it was a nice fresh lettuce wedge piled high with bacon and cheese. The addition of a grilled lemon was a nice touch. The lamb ragu was delicious as it had amazing braised lamb and plenty of pasta. Ambiance is low lighting, cozy and intimate.

This will not only be a great review, but an apology. Firstly, great service, great drinks, great food and a fun night catching up with friends while visiting Nova Scotia. Really recommend Brooklyn Warehouse. Now, the apology - I got a call on a Friday evening asking where we were, as we didn't show for our reservation for 6. I insisted I made the rez was for Saturday, as it was the only night our friends could make it. The restaurant fit us in on Saturday and more than made up for the mistake...but I later realized the mistake was COMPLETELY MINE! I confused the name of the restaurant we were attending the prior night and somehow swapped my dates. To Brooklyn Warehouse, my sincere apologies, and thanks for your understanding!

Amazing food and great service. We arrived early and were seated immediately but it looked like they were going to be busy so I'd suggest making a reservation. Definitely worth visiting.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived at Brooklyn Warehouse last night and the friendly staff made us feel right at home at this neighborhood spot. The menu looked great and we ordered a local cider and a local NA beer. Unfortunately the problem came with our food order. We started with a delicious appetizer of roaster carrots. Then my husband's entree came out and the server let me know my shrimp and pasta would be right out. By time they brought me my dish, with still slightly frozen shrimp, my husband was more than half done with his risotto. They offered to try again and bring me cooked shrimp which I declined at that point as I was not willing to wait any longer. They did comp me my entree which in the end was pasta shells with tomatoes and our drinks. An unfortunate night out.

Consistently pleasing; good for both lunch and supper (and the coffee's really good too--it just needs to be hotter).

Their new menu is amazing!!! We had the dragons breath salad which was fresh and delicious. Then my girlfriend had the duck which had a truffle risotto to die for and I had the halibut which was also delicious. Can't wait to go back to try more off of their menu!

Nice and cozy vibe. The food was amazing and the service was spot on. I have literally been dreaming about the Brownie! You won't be disappointed.

Cute little spot in north end Halifax, I've been there for dinner before and thought I'd try them for brunch. The menu is very limited and might be good for people that want something different for breakfast. I like traditional brunch items. I'll go back for supper but not for brunch

I had lunch today at the Brooklyn Warehouse with my colleague, Trudy. I ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich without the greens or coleslaw. It was okay. We had some time to kill and hadn't seen each other in a while and our server gave us lots of time and space to catch up.

Great food, great ambience this is a very nice and cozy place . The pumpkin ravioli tasted wonderful except for the portions was a bit small . However overall great and fresh food.

I had seen good recommendations for Brooklyn Warehouse from many sources, but I made my decision to come here after looking at their menu. Things like Beef Cheek Poutine ($11), sides of potatoes fried in duck fat, and options to add rabbit to your risotto for $5 scream "You must visit!" The beer list has an interesting mix of domestic and imported beers, as well as the delicious Brooklyn Dark. The beef in the poutine was braised in Oulton's Farm red, and the fries were cooked in duck fat - distinctive! They were out of Nova Scotia Sea Bass for the evening for the Fulton Fish Dish ($25, and you could add rabbit to this as well for $5), so they substituted char. I had wanted the Fish Dish, but even though I like char, I instead went for the Brooklyn Burger ($15), 6 oz. of grass-fed beef from Getaway farm, topped with smoked bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheddar from PEI, and red onions, and served with potato wedges fried in duck fat. Even though they were called wedges, they were essentially fries, and darn good ones, very crisp on the outside, meaty on the inside, and nicely seasoned with salt and pepper. It's been a few sentences since I mentioned the duck fat, so here it is again. I was expecting Brooklyn Warehouse to be an industrial-strength pub. Instead I was pleasantly surprised to discover it is a very laid back and comfortable relatively small restaurant on a street corner in a more residential area of Halifax. It's low-key and fun!

I have to confess that I don't drink alcohol . However I love to eat. C here for the second time because the first time we just had appetizers and the charcuterie board was just amazing. We thought it was gourmet with a very local and yet worldly flavours: guess that's called New Canadian. This time we were here for lunch. Did not disappoint. Fries were the soft on the inside, crispy and caramelized on the outside and food for dipping in the mussels broth. The mussels were perfectly cooked and just one thing I love to eat on the east coast. My partner had the chicken sandwich and a saison. He said it was really good and the beer too. He wanted a sour and the sever said the saison would be the closest thing on the menu.

It's funny to think of the Brooklyn Warehouse as being one of the old hands on the dynamic Halifax restaurant scene, but they certainly are. They were in the vanguard of restaurants supporting quality, locally sourced ingredients and do so without pretention and their own quirky flare. Even after their expansion, it isn't a huge restaurant. We arrived with a group of about eight for a friend's birthday, and despite our reservation had a bit of a wait that I would say clocked in at about two thirds of a beer. A couple tables were cleared for us though and soon we were perusing the new menu for the month of May. Checking out the appetizers, it was easy to choose the rabbit croquettes. I'm a sucker for getting meats that aren't your typical beef/pork/chicken, and this time was no different. While I was tempted by the foie gras stuffed pork loin and the lamb, I decided to go with the flat iron steak, which was bone marrow crusted and came with horseradish creamed potatoes and roasted shallots. Who could turn that down? Exactly. While we waited for our apps, we chatted and took in the BW sights. From their plethora of food books lining the shelves to the Star Wars toys and other random nick nacks. Kudos on the Felix the Cat poster! When the apps arrived, we dug right in. The croquettes had a nice and crunchy shell, and the meat inside was nicely seasoned and had a texture somewhere in between pulled pork and a sausage. The greens and roasted mushrooms were a nice touch on the side of this side, with additional depth from the light romesco sauce. With our appetites whetted, we were ready for our mains. The flat iron isn't a particularly well known cut, and comes from the shoulder area of our beefy buddies. It typically has a good beef flavour but as it is cut with the grain instead of against, can be a bit tougher than other cuts. This held up for my particular steak, although it wasn't hard on my jaw like some steaks of my youth (sorry, Dad, but it's true). The potatoes were wonderfully smooth, although the horseradish could have been a little more prominent for my likings. The roasted shallots were fantastic bulbs of mild oniony goodness, with just the right amount of char to go with their slight sweetness. Brooklyn Warehouse is constantly trying new things and with talented staff in and outside the kitchen, they deserve a visit. You owe it to your tongue.

First time here and far better than i expected. Had the brisket burger with back bacon, old cheddar, onion ring, pickle and grainy mustard mayo with triple cooked chips (potato wedges)...was well presented and delicious. Cooked to perfection. Thought about ordering another to go it was that good. Service was friendly..but not necessarily timely. Good selection of unique beer.

If you want a real dining experience in Halifax. Look no further. This place is top-notch. The real deal. Cheap wine corkage night on Wednesday's I believe. Food is the best of the best. I've never been disappointed. This is real local fine food. Haven't found somewhere that compares in Halifax. If you want to go for a nice, extravagant, dinner in Halifax. Come here. You won't be disappointed. This is my suggestion if you want QUALITY.

Yummy for your tummy! Brooklyn burger was awesome. Cooked perfectly, bold flavour, if you like blue cheese you make like to add/swap it with the cheese it comes with- cheese on it is very good too. The Pig Mack is light and subtle flavoured. Next time I'd order the seasonal salad instead of taters although they were very tasty.

Leaving another review. Don't come here often but in my few meals I've had here in such a fan. I don't do Foo Foo so I don't eat rabbit but they always have an amazing pasta or brisket burger or pork dish. I had a maple glazed pork chop with warm purple potato salad that was so amazing. Every bite was relished. It also had cabbage in a sweet sherry sauce that was so tasty. I can be cheap & the entrees aren't your $12 generic meals. I honestly taste the quality In every bite. Made my fiancée happy 2nd birthday in a row 2 years running.

From the warm welcome alone we could feel this was going to be a great experience! When our host, who introduced himself as one of the owners learned that 2 members of our party were visitors, he immediately brought out a map of Halifax and some brochures. The menu is a cornucopia of unusual and delectable sounding dishes. My eyes were immediately drawn to the seared tuna on niçoise risotto- 2 of my faves in one dish. Outstanding! One girlfriend ordered the Cobb salad which she declared as delicious. The most unusual looking dish was the Resto's take on a Caesar salad, prepared with Dragon's breath blue cheese, Grana Padano cheese, crostinis, etc. It disappeared quickly from the plate. We shared the Crème Brûlée. Another hit. The service throughout the meal was as personalized as the welcome. This restaurant is apparently recognized as one of Halifax's finest. It's easy to see why.

I'm about to fill you in on the best vegetarian main dish to be found in the city. Are you ready? You're so not ready. Okay fine. You're ready: The Brooklyn Warehouse's stuffed peppers dinner is without a doubt the best vegetarian main course I've experienced in Halifax to date. Check it: "Two roasted poblano chilies stuffed with rice, zucchini, onion, jalapenos, fresh tomato, cilantro and cumin, all topped with Balkan yogurt served on a bed of white bean purée with Speerville corn bread." Not only my favourite vegetarian dish, but also probably the only time in my life that the carb wasn't my favourite part of the meal. That may not ever happen again but trust that in this case, it wasn't that there was anything WRONG with the corn bread...it just didn't stand a chance compared to the rest. First of all, the white bean purée is scrape, lick and press your face lovingly up against the plate levels of ridonk. Second, the flavours of the stuffed peppers themselves are all over the place but in the greatest of ways. Some bites had some kick, others were nice and cooling, others had punches of individual tastes, all were so good they almost made me uncomfortable. Sure, it was a busy night and servers seemed to be spread a little too thin. Sure, it was too loud to really catch up with my family that I had brought in for that specific purpose. But if you think either of those things detracted from my night? Well, then you really need to try those stuffed peppers.

Unbelievable! My palette was just shocked back to life with the amount of flavor this place had. My girlfriend/roommate of 3 years is a culinary student in her final year so taking her places can be tough as she critiques! So her and I shared our entire meal: she had the Rueben with their carrot salad, I had the pork belly risotto with their coconut curry butternut squash soup....needless to say it's the best food WE'VE had in the city. The soup was well balanced with the spicy and sweet taste. The pork belly was unbelievably tender which is so impressive as it is! For dessert we got their coffee cake and caramel brûlée. I don't like coffee cake and she doesn't like Creme brûlée...needless to say we practically licked the bowl/plate. Best food I've had thus far!! Well done!

My family went to this place because we are crazy for oysters, and because it received so much hype as of late, we wanted to check it out. We settled for a few rounds of oysters, and the smorgasbord. The oysters were huge, fresh and definitely up to our standards. They were accompanied by a ginger vinaigrette, which was lovely but the waitress didn't mind bringing out the classic oyster toppings on our request. The smorgasbord was amazing. They had some really unusual items, such as a smoked fish mousse. I would definitely recommend the smorgasbord if you want an up-grade from the usual cheese and charcuterie boards you may be use to. I had a salmon dish, (no longer on the menu) the waitress was very knowledgeable of what kind of salmon it was, how it was raised and where it came from. Information I throughly enjoyed. Also, as a caesar solider I was blown away up their wasabi caesar, which I actually inhaled because it was just so delicious. This is a must go for an intimate dinner with family, friends or for a good date night. And serious flashback they have a picture of Felix the cat on the wall, i died.

Lunch, Brunch, Dinner and Drinks! The Brooklyn Warehouse is cool as a cucumber with its svelte interior and much talked about menu. This North End joint has been getting quite the buzz with all its recent Coast fame, and as spot I'd wanted to try for a while, I recently took the plunge. Great atmosphere. This place separates itself from preceded restaurant paradigms to offer something fresh and authentic. The mood is cool, casual, relaxed and chic. Patrons will find that BW is a spot to provide mass appeal without jeopardizing integrity. Yes, there is a lot of meat here. Meat to make my skin crawl. But I can appreciate the variety of dietary preference, and I was pleased with the veggie and fish options listed on the menu. Expert salads, vegan specials, heavy meats and even mac & cheese are all provided under one roof. I went for the Carbona this time around, which was a pasta dish with smoked tofu, almond milk, green beans and portobello crisps. Well worth the $11 price tag, this was a lovely meal with solid presentation. It was something I haven't had before, and as I delved into my meal, it all added to this new and exciting culinary experience. I'd like to try brunch here sometime. With the given atmosphere and vegan pancakes, why not? They offer all the classics with, I'm assuming, the same refined touch as I received during my meal. Great service by the owners themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will gladly go back.

First off, if you haven't been here and had the pork chop yet please take a moment and apologize to your taste buds. Second, find some one you want to impress and bring them to Brooklyn for this dish. It is the best meal i have had in a looong time. Perfectly cooked and paired with a delicious polenta and vegetable mix all in a sauce you will want to drink from the plate, this is was a wonderful experience from start to finish. They also have some great cocktails and a great setting. Get yourself over to this restaurant. You're welcome.

Relaxed atmosphere with outstanding food. The fish sandwich, on the lunch menu, is a personal favorite.

So, I'm here from Chicago and my colleague brought me to this fantastic place. Locally grown, locally sourced everything. Organic menu that changes due to what is brought in each day. I had the best glass of wine from a nearby vineyard! The pork chop with cranberries was the most delicious meal that I have had in some time. I didn't, but wanted so bad to luck the plate. Lol. Seriously. The decor is super warm and hip. I wish this restaurant had a twin in Chicago. Go here! And the service was spectacular.

A couple girlfriends and myself popped into Brooklyn Warehouse earlier this week around noon to try out the lunch menu. I can't say I was all that impressed. The haddock in my fish and chips was oily and also portioned quite small, especially for $12. Brooklyn Warehouse seems to be committing one of the more typical restaurant snafus in that they seem to have pared their staff down to the bare bones for winter. The restaurant immediately filled up more or less around 12:30 (predictable, no?) and the two servers working ran around madly trying to get to everyone... some of the little things are naturally left out when this occurs ie: more coffee, ketchup, etc. Needless to say I don't think i'll be back for lunch anytime soon. Head in for a laid back meal if you don't have anywhere to be in the afternoon. Avoid the fish and chips.

We were a large party of 12, and we were advised that it would be 2 tables of 6. Upon arriving, we noticed that they were quite empty, and that the partitions were moveable. We had asked if we could possibly move some of the partitions and get our table of 12. We were told in no uncertain terms, that "I told you on the phone that this was not possible.". I can't tell you how many times, the exact phrase, I TOLD YOU, was used. Whomever that server was, she definitely was condescending, and not cooperative. Its not like the place was jammed, it was practically empty and it could have easily been done, but she was adamant that She TOLD us, it was 2 tables of 6, and she was not budging. I did think she was going to give me some more attitude, when I moved a chair and made one table for 7. So aside from her attitude, the food was good, however, my scallops were not even warm. Still tasty, but cold. Mussels were excellent, and apparently the burger was a hit with our crowd. So, all I can say is that I am glad the Brooklyn Warehouse is not a regular spot for us, as this attitude turned me off.

Was there again last night. My wife had steak, thought it was very good. We shared the Dragon's Breath salad, which was terrible---just a thick pile of what was basically blue cheese dressing (and yes, I know Dragon's Breath is blue) on top of several romaine leaves (plain, not charred). The menu description listed a variety of ingredients, but they appear to have been dropped into a food processor to produce what looked basically like a think paste---there was as a result no taste differentiation amongst the ingredients (as there would have been had they been mixed separately). And I had the burger, and again (as was the case years ago), it was dry, bun was cold, and the meat tasted as if it had been pre-cooked some time ago. It took almost an hour and a half for our meal to arrive. Fairness obliges me to note that the others at my table (wife and relatives) enjoyed their meals (muscles, oysters, steak) -- so my one star refers only to my experience, not theirs. I seemed to be the odd man out, and given my past experience I should perhaps have skipped the burger. And yes, I appreciate that COVID has been a struggle for restaurants, and I'm fully prepared to make allowances. But the staff should at least have warned us that it would take so long to be fed (and warned me off the burger).

Still my go to, and still amazing every time! Mainly I just wanted to update because I just went and enjoyed a lovely meal on a beautiful day, but what I really loved was the patio seating of being able to sit outside and enjoy the sun, without actually sitting outside! (ok I know that doesn't really make sense, but if you see it, you will know) They have HUGE windows that are pretty much like a garage door, you sit inside the front area but have a nice breeze and sunshine, then once it cools down or if the sun is too much, they can lower the windows for you! How can you not love service like this? It was not a place I would normally think of for outdoor patio sitting, but this is a place I will, from now on, go for an after work, sunny evening dinner and drink!

I hadn't been to this restaurant for several years and then only for lunch. We went there for dinner and were we impressed. Our table was close to a larger group who were having fun, no problem, but a bit loud....asked for other table no fuss no bother. We ordered salmon and halibut...both cooked to perfection and delicious. Definitely going back.

Wow. Been here for lunch twice and it was fantastic both times. First time was the pork burger (Pig Mack), and topped with a fried egg - the only way to have it - it was a rich, gooey delicious treat. Second time I got the Smorgasbord tasting plate, because my wife got it the first time and it looked fantastic (and she said it was). The selection of meat, veg, cheese, and seafood was totally different from what she got, but mine was just as good. And it didn't look like much at first, but it more than filled me up. Marinated mussels, cured meats, delicious dips, east coast cheeses, grainy mustard, and plenty of bread were just what I needed. They've got a great selection of local and regional craft beers, both on tap and in bottles, too. Great servers, too, happy to provide useful input on your choices. And a sunny tables and stools in the covered atrium if the tables inside are all busy, which they often are.

This review is based on lunch. My friend and I stopped for lunch at Brooklyn Warehouse after hearing good things about this place includng from one of my Yelp friends, who had dinner and drinks here. The duck fat fries convinced myself enough to stop in here. We arrived here around 2PM on a rainy day and we were promptly seated. The interior of the bar/restaurant seems cozy and welcoming, the atmosphere of a friendly neighborhood pub with modern decor and a row of beer bottles displayed above us. For lunch, I ordered the Bánn-Mì ($9) with Duck Fat Fries and my friend ordered the Brisket ($10) with Duck Fat Fries. The Bánn-Mì was quite good with good flavours (sandwich halves were served stacked) which had tender and moist Vietnamese pulled pork shoulder with honey-soy glaze, pickled cucumber, carrots, and cilantro mayo on a toasted chewy baguette. The Brisket Sandwich on the other hand was okay at best, which had tender beef brisket, cornichons, & pommery mustard on toasted marble rye bread, which was over toasted and charred along the edges. The duck fat fries (salted) were pretty decent, which were lightly deep fried golden potato wedges, had a hot softer texture, greasy and not crispy. The service here was pretty laid back as we enjoyed our lunch and discussed the next leg of our road trip through Nova Scotia. FREE WIFI

Finally tried here for lunch on a sunny Tuesday in January, on the recommendation of a work friend. Very happy with the decision! I had looked at their menu online before, which changes daily. This visit was spur of the moment so I didn't have a chance to look in advance at the food options. It didn't matter, because they apparently always have at least one vegetarian option (for those like me). The first thing I noticed when entering the door, was a cute knife, fork & spoon actually set into the cement step. This property used to be an old garage years ago, converted into the restaurant, and they added a further extension to the outside for more seating. There are still a couple of garage doors left in place for atmosphere. Natural, bright lighting in the windowed exterior section, with a cozier, darker interior dining area. Probably 15-20 tables in total with capacity for 40 or 50? Chalk menu boards all over the place. Casual, modern style with lots of wood, bare light bulbs, industrial metal items such as a little robot by the kitchen, topped off with a Boba Fett helmet atop a coat rack. Definite conversation pieces to say the least. The Smoked Tofu sandwich (house smoked tofu, shiitake mushrooms, roasted carrot hummus, greens & sprouts, Boulangerie La Vendeenne focaccia. $11) was delicious. The bun was soft, the tofu had a bit of crunch to it for texture, and the flavors perfectly complemented each other. The portion size was good as well, not huge, not small. A side of triple cooked chips ($3) were great, sliced as wedges and are already one of my favorite 'fries' in the city. Apparently the Brooklyn Burger (6 oz. Nova Scotian ground beef, Brother's smoked back bacon, PEI old cheddar white bun, St. Ambroise beer mustard-mayo, pickle) was excellent as well. The mustard-mayo is served on the side and I ended up dipping my chips in it, instead of it making it onto the intended burger. Service was very friendly and prompt enough where you could probably squeeze in lunch here in half an hour if you work within a few blocks. Luckily, we had the hour so didn't have to rush. Have been back probably a dozen times since and it's consistently good. The daily lunch cup of soup ($6) that I tried was some kind of pureed carrot miso with crunchy bacon pieces and was delicious. The Waldorf salad (lettuce, roasted apples, shaved fennel, yogurt dressing, pickled grapes, walnuts. $11.25) was fresh and plentiful to the point where I couldn't finish it after just my cup of soup prior. My friend had the Meatloaf sandwich (12.75 Oulton's pork & beef, smoked tomato glaze, PEI old cheddar, sauerkraut, Thousand Island sauce, caramelized onion focaccia) and said it was delicious with tons of flavor. The potato wedges are always very hot and delicious. The Fried Chicken (buttermilk brined chicken breast, honey butter glaze, pepperoncini slaw, lettuce, roasted garlic aioli on a stone hearth bun. 12.75) was very good with lots of flavor, quite large with almost two small breasts. The bun started to fall apart while I was eating it, so if you don't like messy food, you may not like this, but overall was enjoyable. Their Halloumi Hero wasn't bad (seared halloumi cheese, grilled zucchini, chichurri marinated crushed chickpeas on a toasted baguette. $12.50) - it was filling and flavorful, just not my favorite thing on the menu. The Market Cobb salad is pretty good (for a salad...lol) with confit chicken, Oulton's bacon, hard boiled egg, local cheese, market veggies. $16) - mine had green beans, a mixed of greens and beets, with parm substituted for the blue cheese, at the mention of the server, which I appreciated. The house salad another day ('shaved root vegetables, marinated kale, house made crack pepper ricotta, toasted pumpkin seeds, maple sumac vinaigrette' $11.50 according to the menu) was quite good, lots of flavor, light yet satisfying. I'll continue eating here anytime for lunch or supper. Wish they had breakfast!!!!

It's wonderful to have such a great casual dining restaurant in the neighborhood. Even better when they really source their ingredients close to home. I've often bumped into the owners at the Saturday market ordering up lamb at Wool 'n Hart for their spectacular award winning burgers (The Coast - "Best of Awards). The service is always friendly and the staff always seem to really enjoy working there. And I love the range of people who also frequent this place. It's great for people watching - young families (even toddlers are welcome), business folks conducting meetings over a meal - how could one not be open to closing a deal? Couples sharing a little romance with their meals, students working on assignments or reading... Dinner, with great wine selections always change with the seasons, but my favorite is still the Steak Frites and for brunch, I find it hard to choose between the grilled cheese - 3 little pigs version Brother's Smoked Back Bacon, House-Cured Pork Belly, and Prosciutto or the two eggs (I like mine poached and they always turn out perfectly runny ) with roasted mushrooms, home fries and sour dough toast. My husband hardly ever strays from the burger.

Went out for a birthday dinner and had the best meal in a long time here tonight. The Dragons Breath salad was to DIE for. I will go back just for that. We had a salmon entree and a halibut entree, both were perfect. The desert was amazing. Really can't say enough good things about our dinner, I'm so impressed and happy with everything.

We were the first people in the restaurant and I started to notice that everyone else was getting service before us. Service, water, menus and food... all before us. By the time we got the menu, most people had eaten and already left. We were nervous about ordering since we only had about 20 minutes to get back but we thought sandwiches were the fastest and easiest to make so I ordered the brisket and Reg got the BLT. We found out that there had been a fire in the back which had thrown things off in the kitchen and the server did apologize to us. But everyone else had food. Everyone else was gone. She told us ours was next. We waited. I started to panic. Could we go back without having lunch? I was starting to feel like a hostage to the place because we were now going to be late for the seminar from hell and we had nothing to eat. No complimentary bread. No drinks on the house. Nothing! I went to the washroom and said to myself, if the food isn't there by the time I get back, we are leaving. Which is exactly what happened. We put some money on the table to pay for Reg's Coke which was the sustenance for our entire afternoon and left. With my card on top of the $5. Although treated courteously, it only happened when our existence was acknowledged which for the most part rarely happened. It was painful to see the rest of the entire restaurant be treated so much better than us and actually get to eat when we left starving.

Went there for a late lunch yesterday with my brother-in-law and was impressed before even entering the restaurant (which I'd never heard of before, being new in town). Looks like it was in an old converted house which had been made to look more rustic and cosy, and it certainly was. Since it was about 4pm, there wasn't really a dinner or lunch crowd and the place was mostly empty. The dearth of customers didn't at all detract from the homey/comfortable vibes in the place and one got the distinct feeling that it was a gastropub and not only a place to go drinking (ie. could be either classy dining or rowdy drinking and both would suit the place just fine). The menu was relatively sparse, which I never take to be either a good or a bad thing. Sometimes the smallest menus being forth the most artistic creations and the largest can seem like mass production.. aaaanyhow. I ordered the smoked chicken club sandwich with triple cooked fries and my bro-in-law ordered the burger. He's glutarded (gluten intolerant) so asked to go either bun-less or lettuce wrapped. Our drinks were refilled promptly and out waitress was really friendly Given the vibe of the place I was expecting some decent food, but when it finally came out, my jaw just about dropped.. Exquisite presentation and I couldn't but wait to start stuffing my face like Honey Boo Boo at an all you can eat buffet. The fries were almost better than the sandwich, probably the best fries I've had anywhere in a very long time if ever.. Reminded me of the fries one would get in Brussels, wrapped up in paper and served with ketchup and mayo. The portion sizes were the perfect balance between Euro-style peckish and American stuff-your-face-till-you-choke gluttony, so we left feeling perfectly satisfied and with a surprisingly light tab to boot. I totally recommend this place and will be going back often.. I hope they switch up their menu often though.

We took my dad out for his birthday dinner to the Brooklyn Warehouse. We had enjoyed it previous to the Ace Burger creation, and so wanted to try again. It's gone south in a bad way in my opinion. The menu is way to 'fu fu'... which in my country means.. you charge way too much for what you get. They have minimal options, and it's all seasonal, month-by-month. The burgers come with about 10 fries. The portion's have gone the way of a french restaurant. The desserts (although they assured me they make them all in house) were dry, looked prepackaged, and days old. Then the bill came... 133 dollars for four people.. unreal in my opinion. The place has gone too hipster... my last visit.

This place has been on my "to try" list forever. I finally made it - and wasn't disappointed! I like that it isn't downtown. Parking is easier, which is nice for a change. The atmosphere is relaxed, which I really enjoy. No need to worry about what to wear or which fork to use here. And there are some cool decor items around - a green lantern sign over the bar, a Boba Fett helmet on a coatrack. They serve "pitchers" of water to the table in old milk bottles, and when I walked in to join my friends I first thought they had each been served a giant bottle of water to drink out of straight. Not so much. I had the wasabi Caesar from the bar. It's good, and the pickled snow peas are cute (but shhhhhh! I think I like the kimchi caesar at 2 Doors Down better.) The menu is written in several places on chalkboards. It changes daily so a printed menu is impractical. I've checked in on the daily menu online numerous times, and there are regulars on the menu that rotate in and out in different combos throughout the week. From the items on the menu there was one from each course starred on the boards which made up a well-priced prix fixe option if you wanted to go that way. One of my friends did and enjoyed the selections. The menu is meat heavy, and I only eat poultry and scallops in that territory, but there is always a vegetarian option for both appetizer and main. I have seen both a scallop app and a guinea fowl main on the menu at times, but neither were there the night I went so I did veg for both. Food was friggin' awesome! I had a grilled radicchio salad with grana padano, caper berries, and nuts and it was excellent. Not just your average salad - unique flavours with character, and the bitterness of the radicchio was offset wonderfully by the berries. Then for a main I had a beet, mushroom and goat cheese risotto with pistachios and let me tell you, it was fabulously rich and filling. Just thinking about it makes me wish I could go eat it for breakfast again right now. My non veg friend chose it not because she doesn't eat all the meat (she does) but because it sounded so damn good, and she felt like I did about it - fantastic!! I had a chocolate marquise and chocolate pavlova combo drizzled with salted caramel for dessert, and that too was tasty and well balanced. This well-enjoyed, satisfying meal of drink, appetizer, main and dessert came to under $50 with tax. The tip put it over $50, but for a full meal of food this great I consider it seriously well-priced! Of all the factors we use to evaluate a restaurant, in the end the food is queen, and the food here was just wicked. I'll be back.

Does it really get any better then Brooklyn Warehouse, I really don't think it does. They have the best selection of local foods with lots of vegetarian and gluten free choices (I am not a vegetarian but I love the Carbonara). The Charcuterie and Cheese plates are a wonderful away to spend time hanging out and chatting with friends they offer a great selection of flavours that all work well with wine and cocktails (which they also have a great selection of). The menu is not giant but they manage to offer something for lots of different tastes. As great as the food is the atmosphere might even be better. There is just a vibe about the place that makes you feel at home but still be cool and urban. The service is also great and they really have gone above and beyond every time I have been in.

This was our best food experience in Halifax. We visited the Brooklyn Warehouse thinking to be away from downtown for a night and we found our to go restaurant. Too bad we are in Halifax just for a couple of days!!!! Great menu, great service, great atmosphere... and the food is simply amazing. Natural local ingredients transformed into top cuisine. Even our 11 and 8 years old loved it!!!!! And their Nutella Espresso crème brûlée..... to die for!!! Not sure how long it will be on the menu.... they change often their courses following seasonal ingredients... sooooo rush and visit the place!!!!!!

What's shakin'? My lady and I were looking for a fine place for a date, and we sure did find one. The menu is a little scary for people in their 20's because it's around 17 big dollars for a burger, but holy smokes.. When it arrived I wanted to take a picture of it. The cheese and onions looked like fine art, but when I bit into it I swear I heard Celine Dion singing her "Titanic" hit. It was delicious, and the meat was grade A-- whatever that means. But it tastes like REAL fresh meat. The beer list wasn't as complex as I'd hope for a gastropub but they do have some; dark & light, and yes, they were locally brewed which is great. The wine availability again was limited, but for a supper date it gets the job done. Check it out.

Nothing quite like having a top quality restaurant within walking distance of your house. The Brooklyn quickly became our go-to place for special events, visitors, and nights we just don't want to cook. Best artic char I have ever tasted (sorry, Dad), the rabbit was divine, and the burger lives up to its reputation. Love, love, love the locally sourced food and multiple bottles of NS wine on the list.

Decisided to give myself a little treat on Saturday night so I'm here. Had rabbit meet balls, overall it's good but a little bit dry a bit too salty to my taste. But the dessert is AWESOME. I had the dark chocolate, espresso mousse torte and it was the best chocolate cake I've ever had in town. The appearance's really attractive and the cake itself is tasty. Kinda like a chocolate lava cake, not overly sweet at all. I will definitely come back again :D

Om Nom Nom...I can not sing the praises of this little joint enough. Amazing local and delicious fancy dishes that are sure to peak your interest and taste buds. My favorite part about this place (besides the subtle geeky decor) is that it brings you the delectable dishes you expect from a swanky joint that you have to dress up to go to, however at the Brooklyn Warehouse, it has a laid back causal atmosphere but with the crazy delicious fancy dishes! With such an eclectic menu there will be something for everyone and lots of new dishes as well. I personally liked the beef cheek poutine-soooooo good. Dragon's Breathe salad....mmmm.... And the Lamb spaghetti and meatballs. Everything so great. Service is excellent!!! They will do anything to keep you happy. And my very favorite part...the drinks! Very inspired and delicious. The waiting "porch" area, is a great feature. Relaxing way to have a drink while waiting for a table.
