We stopped in about an hour and a half before a Saints game, but we were still able to get a table outside with no wait. The building and atmosphere give the place a great vibe for any occasion. The staff is friendly and super efficient and the food was good and the beer and cocktails lid was big. Overall, this is a great spot to hang out and it’s in an ideal location. If you’re anywhere near Lowertown, make your way to The Bulldog!

Google
It was a fun place to hang out for a fun time with friends - bar height tables- street parking. These ladies know how to get people served well and in a timely manner - great service! Lots of games for everyone to follow their fav teams. Pot roast was amazing - cheese curd were a perfect app to go with! Will come again!

Went for lunch around noon on a Friday after stopping at the farmers market down the road. Place wasn’t too busy, very casual place. The moment we walked in we were acknowledged and had great service. Food was delicious. Lots of local beers and cocktails, large menu, kid friendly options. Nice large bar, plenty of high tops, booths and bar seating. The price for three people to eat and drink wasn’t bad at all. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing dinner at The Bulldog Lowertown in St. Paul! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was even better. Our favorite burgers were juicy and flavorful, and the salads were fresh and delicious. The fancy drinks added a special touch to our meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable. We loved our visit and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

Google
The Bulldog is my go-to spot for an incredible time! I absolutely love hanging out here, whether it's to catch a game or to just soak in the lively atmosphere. Their beer selection is out of this world, and although I'm not a beer enthusiast, their wine is surprisingly good. I just wish they'd offer some higher-quality wine by the bottle. The food is consistently delicious, and their Sriracha tater tots and fried pickles are absolute must-haves! I've tried almost everything on the menu, and I haven't come across a dish I didn't like. Even my cat, Countess Willow, adores the food and their fabulous patio. The staff is top-notch, and the management is truly exceptional. The bartenders are always friendly and professional. This place is always buzzing with activity thanks to its great location, fantastic management, and wonderful staff. Their beautiful patio is perfect for enjoying the weather, but parking can be a bit of a hassle due to the lively area.

Google
The Mango Habanero Wings was a delicious bowl of heaven. The heat from the habanero was actively at war with the sweetness from the mango in my mouth, and the only cure was a glass of red wine. This was a very loud bar and my friend and I had to yell at each other in order to be heard, but sometimes that's the kind of environment you need. Bonus: Close to Mears Park which is a great place to hang out and walk your dog. Highly recommended!

Google
It had been a long day at the hospital. One of the nurses recommended this place. It did not disappoint!! The Bulldog Burger and the Philly cheese steak were so good it was all devoured! Our waitress (did not get her name, dang it) was phenomenal!

Google
Been here a lot over the years. This time, meh. Felt like food my wife and would have just cooked at home for a lot less $. I'm sure some things on their menu are stand out dishes but our was just, meh.

Yelp
loveddd the chicken wings, i also tried the devil eggs they were fancy for a bar! the server was sweet fast and quick on refills! the vibes were interesting given it was in lower town i wasn't expecting it to be so remodeled

Yelp
This is theost unassuming place for a perfect Sunday comfort meal. We had the Walleye dinner plate and the Pot Roast. I cannot speak highly enough about these dishes . Everything was perfectly seasoned, the veggies were cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes ( couldn't quite tell if they were instant but regardless they were tasty) and the brown gravy on the side was almost as good as my Granny's gravy. The server was sweet polite and attentive. Again I would highly recommend this place for a quick beer and to watch the game or a happy hour with friends or a quiet Sunday dinner. ** Sorry no pics of the walleye, as he scarfed it down so quickly but take my word it was perfection!

Yelp
I love it here. This is my go-to place when I'm in Lowertown. Not only do they have a full bar and a great selection of beer, but they have a great selection of cheese items - Mac & Cheese, Mac & Cheese Hotdog, Grilled Cheese, Cheese Curds, Cheesecake, etc...they just get it haha. The tots are also a must.

Yelp
The food is as pretty good. Outdoor seating area was great for a warm evening. We did find the employee working outside to be a bit rude when he said we couldn't bring to neighboring tables together to accommodate our party, and another patron volunteered to move to accommodate our needs.

Yelp
This was the last stop on a great girls weekend, and I gotta say, we ended it on a great note. The food was FANTASTIC. I had a delicious sandwich with crispy Cajun tator tots. My friend got the pot roast - and WOW. So good. They have a huge selection of beers on tap as well!

Yelp
I really enjoyed the Bulldog! We went here right before a Saints Game and although it was very busy, the food and drinks were delicious! The service was also very good for how busy it was. They were very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
The Bulldog Lowertown is a restaurant and bar serving pub-style food in a laidback atmosphere. SERVICE Staff are knowledgeable about the menu and was helpful with recommendations. I didn't realize my order was going to be placed as to-go since I sat with a group, but it worked out as everyone around me finished their food faster than me. FOOD 5/5 Dozen Dry Rub Wings: Crispy, flavorfully seasoned exterior; juicy tender interior; elevated with a sweet and spicy chili sauce Staff noted this won best wings in the city 5/5 Side Salad: Super fresh veggies with a zesty ginger-lime vinaigrette

Yelp
Love the bulldog in lower town. Came in for an early dinner and the atmosphere was light and fun - great music playing and friend team. We were treated right away with a smile. Excellent beer selection on tap. We ordered the chili cheese dogs and the Philly. The food came out quick and was good. The waiter was very attentive. Definitely would recommend for a quick lunch or early dinner.

Yelp
I've been to The Bulldog many times in prior years. Today I went with some friends after a local event. We wanted some appetizers and drinks and knew The Bulldog was the local place to go for those things! Our server was fabulous despite being super busy (she didn't say so, we could just tell by all the tables being full)! Our drinks and waters came quick. And our food as well, our server even helped a couple of us decide on food/drink! Unfortunately my nachos (my all time favorite food in the world) came and were 75% soggy by the time I dug in. It seemed as though they sat in the back wayyy to long before being brought out with the rest. The flavors were good, the soggy, wet chips and toppings unfortunately ruined it for me. The chips were so wet and soggy I couldn't grab them with them flopping over and after a few bites, I couldn't eat anymore. I ended up telling our server about my disappointment and they removed them from my bill. She also apologized and let me know that isn't a typical thing to experience. Other than that, great experience and seems as though they listen to value customer feedback and thoughts. Great server and also love the location to so many local places and events.

Yelp
Stopped by as we were exploring St. Paul and boyfriend and I were hungry (like always). We ordered some drinks, which were strong & good! This was my first time going out since turning 21, so I asked for a recommendation from the server & she recommended a paloma, which was strong, but good. I believe my boyfriend got Jack Honey & mt dew...or sprite. Anyways we ordered food and I got chicken tenders and fries & my boyfriend got some sandwich (can't remember what it's called). We got a side a cheese curds to share and mac and cheese to go! Chicken tenders were okay but kind of dry. Burger must've been good because it was mowed down. Cheese curds. O.M.G. some of the best I've had! I'm also not a big mac and cheese gal, but YUM. It was delicious! Would definitely recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Been here a couple times. Went for lunch on a Sunday and no one was there so we got our food fast. Our server was very nice and helpful. The food was good! Food was filling and a fair price for location. I tried my friend's fries and they were good!! They have different flavors for fries so I will have to try that next time! I had the ahi tuna rice bowl. Tons of veggies which I loved. Very tasty. No one I was with complained about their meals. Will be back.

Yelp
Great vibes and great food! Service was great, and never made us feel like we were waiting. I had an old fashioned and it was pretty good. I got the brisket sandwich and I easily could have ordered another round of them, very good! Will definitely come back!

Yelp
First time eating Here, the experience was amazing and I loved the scenery and atmosphere. I will definitely return ~ Amazing service

Yelp
Fantastic service and quick take out ordering. The staff handled the usual crowd plus the not so regular MN Jazz Festival attendees. Thanks for the great reception!

Yelp
Our group of seven stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening after touring the nearby Glow light festival at the stadium. We were unable to get a reservation so we waited about 30 minutes for one of the only three tables that can hold a big group. The host was less than cordial though our waitress was delightful. She kept things moving. The menu is typical bar food. I ordered their chicken wings with the Korean bbq sauce and they were very good. I know others enjoyed their meals. An OK experience.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Had a decent experience here! We had a larger group and only one server, who handled the group well enough. Service was a little slow, but she was attentive when we had her attention and she didn't mess up any orders. I got the Hawaiian Volcano burger, which was SO good and filled with a bunch of wonderful flavors. The real star of the show, however, was the side of Cajun fries. They were absolutely delicious and I inhaled every last one of them. As for the restaurant itself, it felt a little unfinished and empty. Kind of bare bones.

Yelp
We just love stopping by for a veggie burger and some beer after farmers market on a weekend. Nice, unpretentious ambiance, great views of the square. What else do you need?

Yelp
This is a decent sized sports bar located across from Mears Park. There is metered Street parking available around the restaurant/bar and there are parking garages/lots available within a reasonable walking distance. This place is decent sized and has dining room seating, bar seat and seating along the restaurant/bar's window. The bar is a full service bar with a large tap selection. There are televisions around the bar and dining area and there is also an electronic dart board, an ATM, and a digital juke box. It is a very hip and trendy joint and my server was very nice, attentive and helpful. You pull their menu up with a QR code. The menu is packed with pub favorites such as burgers, wings, salads, soups and sandwiches. I ordered the Firedog with fries. I also got an order of dry rubs wings as well. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for me to get my food. The hotdog was delicious. It did have a little kick to it, so plan accordingly. I personally like food with a kick. The wings looked better than they tasted. They were ok, but not the best that I have had. They had a little flavor, but was missing something. Total disclosure though, I am not a fan of dry rub wings. This is a nice spot to catch a game, have a drink and eat some food. It has a cool vibe and wide assortment of food and adult beverages. I recommend checking this place out if you get the chance.

Yelp
We used to frequent The Bulldog restaurants for drinks and their vegan options, but unfortunately, the options have dwindled over the years, so now we don't usually think to go there. Last week, we had a craving and decided to see whether the current version of the Not Dog is vegan. (The hot dogs used in the Not Dogs have changed several times over the years, sometimes vegan, sometimes not, so we have had to check every time it occurred to us to visit.) I called the Lowertown location to see if the current version of the Not Dog is vegan, and I was told it is not.

Yelp
A nice bar to go to meet up with friends to socialize or catch a game. I ordered the dry rubbed Bulldog Wings, a side of fries, and the Ellsworth Cheese Curds. The wings came with a thai chili sauce. The wings didn't even need the sauce they were so good. The seasoning was just right on them. The cheese curds were good. I guess the cheese curds are very famous in Minnesota because all the restaurants had them. The customer service was excellent.
google avatar

Hnou V.

Yelp
Their dry rub wings are really good! I loved the Thai chili sauce that came with it. It was savory, sweet and spicy. I loved the crispness of the chicken wing. Thought the mac and cheese was just alright. I probably would not order this again since I like my mac to be a bit creamier and not so thick. This place is a great value and the staff are always great.

Yelp
Ugh. Unfortunately three stars on Yelp means "OK" and that's how I feel about the Bulldog. I went with a friend and we spent awhile trying to decide what to get because they had SO MANY things I wanted to try. Eventually I decided on their infamous Thai Chili wings and Macaroni paired with my usual Margarita. The wings were very good. I can see why everyone on Yelp loves them. I'm usually not a fan of sweet wing sauces but these changed my mind 100%! Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The macaroni was just noodles and cheese sauce. It was very bland. Like Kraft macaroni is 10x better type of bland. I also had high hopes for the bar based on other Yelp reviews but my margarita was terrible. It had almost no flavor and seemed very watered down. I don't have much to say about the service. It was alright. Nothing to sway me significantly in one direction or another. I'm hoping to give the Bulldog another chance in the future because I have this lingering feeling that I just had a one-off bad experience but I'm also really hung up on that Macaroni so I guess we'll see how it goes. If you decide to stop by, snag some of the Thai Chili wings.

Mau S.

Yelp
It's bar food, but a little better. Besides the usual greasy goodness, there are a few shining stars. The steak salad is amazing! I've eaten it 20 times in the last 15 years and it does not disappoint t. The dry rub wings are sooo good. Fries are thick and soggy which isn't my fav, I just like mine thin and crunchy. The garlic aioli is fantastic on the club.

Meliek D.

Yelp
The first thing that should happen is that I should be greeted not here! My date and I played TWO games of darts and nobody came up to us t offer water or a menu. I had to go to the bar for to get my refreshments. After I got my own I expected to get a menu the place wasn't packed so there's no reason for us being ignored by the people there. I would hate to have to say but if it's because we are a black couple that we were overlooked BUT that's exactly what it felt like because a white giy came in AFTER us and was greeted and served immediately
google avatar

Yelp
The Bulldpg is a casual go to spot when in Lowertown! The tap list is extensive and the food is always solid. They do a great job with their wings! I love the buffalo. The are juicy, meaty, with a nice cripsy. The size of eat wi g is really nice & the sauce is flavorful and just the perfect amount!
google avatar

Anjola L.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon to catch some football. The ambience was good. Enough TVs to watch any game you want to watch. They do a good job spacing tables out given COVID. The beer selection is very good. Especially if you like IPAs. I went to school in Indiana and they have two beers from 3 Floyd's Brewing (Zombie Dust and Gumballhead). This is a win for me every time The only complaint I have is that there were quite a number of fruit flies flying around. This gets very annoying after a while.
google avatar

Hannah A.

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner prior to the Glow Christmas Lights at CHS field. Their service was fast and we had the best waiter! Their food was tasty and felt like homey bar food! The steak salad was delicious and I enjoyed the poutine for an appetizer.
google avatar

Olivia And Cole L.

Yelp
Nice sports bar downtown. Definitely a cop bar, not that there's anything wrong with that. Just notable. Great dogs though, lots of beer on tap. See ya next time, Bulldog.
google avatar

Aaron F.

Yelp
A cool place. We were in town for a wedding and ate here while we waited for our hotel room to be ready. I got the Hawaiian Volcano burger and it was awesome! Had a Pistachio Cream Ale from Indeed Brewing. It too was fantastic. Need to find that in Ohio.
google avatar

Jean J.

Yelp
Friendly, fun and their roast beef dinner is top notch. I always feel welcome and they remember my drink even if I have not been there for a month.
google avatar

Farren S.

Yelp
A mainstay of the neighborhood with reliable, consistently good bar food. The burgers are fresh, and so are the fries. We frequently order takeout burgers and fries and find it easy and appreciate our food is in great shape once we arrive home to eat. I do recommend the steakhouse burger. My partner loves the tots, while I enjoy the seasoning and crispness of their fries. Staff have always been courteous. A heads-up, it's quite loud. There's outdoor seating that is mostly shaded. Parking will be meter or at a nearby pay lot or ramp.
google avatar

Yelp
First impression? On a Friday night it was seat yourself; with no tables open, it was AWKWARD to wait around for a table to open. Then when one did, the male host with a mustache was SO RUDE to my group. When a table finally opened we were standing by it waiting for it to be cleaned and he walks by and throws a 'reserved' sign on it with no explanation. He throws it down and walks away. Then, when we asked another table if we could use one of their chairs he SHAMED us for doing so. Apparently they have extra chairs for groups bigger than the table number? But he didn't greet us and explain this to us when we walked in or when he saw us hanging around the table with 4 chairs and 5 people? I've NEVER been treated so poorly by a restaurant employee. He was down right rude and insulting to a paying group of customers. The food was decent, but definitely not worth the treatment we received trying to get it. WOULD NOT recommend and I won't be going back.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Look, the last thing I want to see is another local restaurant go down after this hellish year. I want to love the bulldog. I've tried... I just can't. I did fall in love with the bulldog one time, though, and if I kept it at that experience it would be 5 stars all around. This is primarily a sports bar. Not a peak dinner destination. When the women's World Cup was happening a few years ago I posted up and watched alongside my neighbors with a Michelob Golden and was as happy as could be. It's when I got an underwhelming salad with iceberg lettuce or a burger that turned me into a human brick that I knew I went astray. I don't recommend any of the food but I do recommend the sports atmosphere and the beer. And some nights just call for the latter and I have no problem spending them at the bulldog. I'll just eat at home beforehand.
google avatar

Yelp
Got into town from Spokane for the night before we take the train back to Chicago and needed a bite to eat. Fortunately, the Bulldog was one of the few restaurants open on a Monday night! I had a yummy mug of Lift Bridge Root Beer and their Chicken Salad Sandwich with house Kettle Chips. The chicken salad was some of the best I've had-pecans, celery, golden raisins, red grapes. Most excellent. I would come back for the sandwich alone.
google avatar

Yelp
Good service. Nice Atmosphere! Had the "Fish & Chips" & a Beer. Good place ton hang out and watch games.

Yelp
I was disappointed visiting this establishment after going to a St Paul Saints game that we hosted our clients at. Visiting from Colorado, I decided to try and play the pull tabs which we purchased 80 bucks worth and won 106 dollars. I turned in my winning tickets for 106 dollars in pull tabs. It was almost 11 o'clock and the person working the station did not tell us she was about to close. We won another 50 bucks off of those and tried to turn it in at about 11:30 and we were told she was already closed and she could not honor them. Also she said we could not turn them in tomorrow and that we just lost out. My concern was she could have let us know that when we bought them at 11 o'clock. She would not honor our winning ticket and the manager tried to explain the pull tabs were not part of the bar. Seemed like it was as it was a staple in the bar and she was going to the back like it was as well. It was a disappointing experience when I heard high recommendations to go to this establishment. Not a good look how they treat out of towners that try to patronize their establishment to be treated like less than someone important. I will not return and I will let all my colleagues know of this experience. Learn to treat your customers better. Disappointment of the customer service or the lack of it.

M T.

Yelp
Our group went here for dinner prior to going to the Glow Christmas Lights at CHS field a couple weeks ago. Everything with the meal was fine and our server was great, however, my purse was stolen during our visit. I called the manager the next day to see if they had video cameras inside the venue, as I knew the time I believe the theft occurred. I was told that they did, but the manager didn't seem willing to check them for me. He said he'd take my number down and "would let me know if they found anything." I told him they weren't going to find any of the physical items because the cards had been used and the airtags were distributed in various locations only a few hours after the theft. He didn't seem to care and rushed to get me off the phone (the conversation lasted about a minute, max). Very surprised by this interaction and his unwillingness to help.

Nicholas B.

Yelp
Great food, fantastic service, fun atmosphere. I got the Philly cheesesteak and was quite pleased.
google avatar

Blia L.

Yelp
The food good, but a tab salty. Definitely full of flavor, but just too much sauce. Otherwise nice place to grab a casual drink. The fries are bomb though, crispy! The hot dogs are good. For the price is good.
google avatar

Deanie H.

Yelp
Had the danger dog but substituted the side of chips for garlic tots because WORTH IT. The spicy mayo on it made the ingredients come together. Also don't forget to order a side of ranch for dipping your tots hehe. I'm not a beer snob but they seem to have a wide selection and rotate in some tasty Japanese beers. Service will depend on if it's busy tbh, but happy hour starts at 4-6p and 9p-close. It's not connected via skyway but you can get as far as barrio's elevator (if the Skyway's are open) and walk through the door barrio and bulldog share.
google avatar

JS S.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service and responsible ownership Steak salad and Bulldog chicken sandwich are top shelf.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
The Bulldog is a lively happy place with open spaces and a wide view of outdoor activity with plenty of windows. A large menu of not just bar food but some great appetizers and a multi-page menu of beers, many local and some obscure names from other areas of the state. A unique choice of Belgian brews makes the selection worth some contemplation. Happy hour special means a buck off all the beers and selections from the Starters menu with old town favorites like Stadium Nachos and other assorted honky tonk favs for an almost sports bar. Please, Bulldog don't upscale your patrons away, like your neighborly competitor did and keep it down home St. Paul Lowertown.

Yelp
Went in for a night cap and late night snacks on Friday night. A few tables were available outside overlooking Mears Park. We had our pups with us, so this worked out great! They are very dog friendly. The best part of our experience here was our server. There aren't many places I've gone that have been as attentive and knowledgeable as she was! We were brought menus almost right away after sitting down (seat yourself). She returned in a timely manner to get our drink and food orders. She answered our questions about the menu without skipping a beat, and was so kind and patient. The tap list is extensive! No cocktail menu as of now. I ordered the pickle chips, and she readily mentioned that currently they are served as spears and asked if I'm okay with this. The meal, drinks, and experience was top notch. What a wonderful spot to go for some pub food, snacks, and taps, with your dog!

Dan B.

Yelp
We were in town and ordered through the website. The driver arrived (refused to bring it to door) and we noticed a sandwich was missing. I called and they indicated that the delivery service they contract through screwed up and said I would need to contact them. No other help offered. We used their website, not Grub Hub ir anything like that so ultimately they need to be responsible for the screwup. Absolutely ridiculous that the restaurant could not take responsibility, offer any time of refund, or reach out to THEIR subcontractor to fix this.

Court H.

Yelp
We have visited the Bulldog, the last 2 trips to St Paul. Once, with just our family. My son loved the Mac and cheese, I had a perfect chicken sandwich, with my husband trying the brisket. All three of us left full and happy. Great beer selection and friendly service. Our next trip was with a group of 15. That alone can be kind of daunting to a server, but not ours - she was amazing! Patient, attentive, and she was ready with any questions are large group brought. Drinks stayed full and food was delivered quickly. Highly recommend!!! A short walk from our hotel at Spring Hill Suites
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Ashley our server was amazing. The selection was good on all bar items and food. The wings are great. The BELT is my favorite. Atmosphere is fun and priced reasonable. We are visiting from out of town and will recommend to anyone we know heading this way. Great job Bulldog staff

Yelp
I usually don't like ordering take out because it's just never as good as when it comes out super fresh but I just ordered their bacon cheeseburger online and it was super good by the time I got home. I WILL SAY, the main reason I'm leaving 5 stars is because their hot sauce and ranch are literally so good. I probably would've rated the burger a 4 without the hot sauce.
