The Bulls Head

"The full car park of this village inn says it all. It's gained a strong following thanks to being gastronomically adventurous and having a passionate team who make a real effort to welcome their guests; custom menus with your name on is a particularly nice touch. The kitchen show great ambition within the pub surroundings, with a tasting menu available alongside the à la carte. The chefs show great skill in spotlighting their quality produce, like super-fresh wild seabass cooked to perfection with a delicious crispy skin. Well-appointed bedrooms complete the appealing overall package." - Michelin Inspector

In terms of food, better than fischers or any other Michelin place around Derbyshire / Yorkshire. creative, flavourful, able to adapt to my non alcohol request. Cosy, romantic setting. Great choice of options for a la carte so one doesn't have to settle for something because of lack of choice like some places

We had a fantastic experience doing the stay and dine package. We did the signature tasting menu and it was utterly delicious. The raspberry souffle with brown sugar and raspberry ripple custard absolutely silenced my husband and I. Absolutely amazing! Mark and Charlotte were brilliant hosts and it was lovely chatting to them and hearing all about the food. The rooms were comfortable and the copper bath was a real treat. Even having the Bluetooth speaker in the mirror felt exciting! We absolutely loved it and have booked again with our whole family for December.

We stayed for one night and had the tasting menu in the evening. Chef and Patron Mark Aisthorpe, is a thoroughly brilliant chap and the food he created was simply outstanding. Because we booked late there was only a choice of one room which was the smallest room, however it was really comfortable and clean and made for a very cozy stay. there were bath robes included as well as all the toiletries, biscuits, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh milk on request from the bar and even a little teapot. It was a very aesthetically pleasing room complete with a cuddly Highland cow to finish it off which became our adopted mascot for the night! If you are looking for friendly owners friendly atmosphere and top class food from a very experienced chef as well as a wonderful comfortable room for the night this is the place to go. The surrounding area is also very beautiful, there is even a pond in the village with ducks which made for a nice evening stroll. Breakfast was also superb well cooked and filling. The pub itself was very clean and very well kitted out whilst still being cozy and traditional.

Simply Excellent. Fantastic food, service and setting, we highly recommend the Bulls Head, Holymoorsaide. We tried the Taster Menu, it was absolutely delicious. The flavours were so well balanced and built up in the mouth. There were four of us (granddaughter, daughter and grandparents), we all thoroughly enjoyed every course. All the courses were fabulous, but the highlight for us was the apple sorbet served with raspberry souffle, absolutely amazing.

We were there for Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and service was good. Sadly the food was not up to expectations. The roast beef was tough and overcooked. The roast potatoes were a disaster they were heavy and tasted like they had been reheated. Yorkshire puddings again were overdone. The starters were better but overall I had taken the family for a birthday meal and we all left disappointed and underwhelmed. The decor is nice but the back seating area feels a bit detached and cold. Sadly we will not be returning and not recommend.

We went there for a tasting menu. Amazing experience, great food, fantastic service and great atmosphere. We are definitely coming back to try other dishes. The friendliness of staff and taste of the food make us want more.

Went here at lunchtime for our anniversary. What an amazing restaurant. We were greeted by Charlotte who was lovely and very helpful. We chose the 5 course taster menu which was absolutely wonderful and with each course Mark the patron chef came out and explained everything about each dish,he was also very helpful with the wine choice. We couldn't recommend the Bulls head enough and will definitely return.

Lovely staff and top notch food. I’m not a foodie at all but I really appreciated the whole dining experience. The room was perfect for what we needed, stayed the night before visiting Chatsworth as it was nearby and good value for money. Clean and tidy with a lovely bathroom. Nice rustic feel with the original woodwork on show. Very much appreciated the visit.
