Top hawker stalls in Singapore serving affordable gourmet food - SilverKris

"A premium hawker stall within an upmarket marketplace offering Japanese comfort fare—particularly donburis and ramen—with a focus on rich, indulgent toppings. The signature foie gras and Wagyu beef donburi pairs a thick slab of foie gras with sliced Wagyu, an onsen egg and Japanese pickles atop fluffy rice, and there is also a truffle Wagyu donburi for fans of fragrant truffle seasoning." - Rachel Eva Lim

Tried the truffle pork bowl and it was so salty I couldn’t eat more than two mouthfuls 🥲 Rice and entire bowl was completely drenched in super salty sauce, honestly thought that they made a mistake on our order and overdid on the seasoning but saw other reviews saying the same thing. Definitely won’t go back again, the sodium overdose is really too insane

The Signature Pork Cheek, Truffle Minced Beef, and Charred Broccoli from The Burning Oak were all packed with flavour, so tender and satisfying.

We ordered 3 meals. For the chicken bowl, the rice was warm but the chicken was at room temperature. Looks like the chicken was pre-prepared, under grilled and not warmed up before being placed over the rice. For the beef ragu, it was tasty but not evenly heated. The pork cheek bowl was good as usual. We haven’t been here for a while. Their food are usually affordable, warm and tasty. Hope this was an exception.

The Burning Oak 348 Bedok Rd, #02-16, Singapore 469560 - Tried the ribeye steak ( medium , done to perfection) - Foie Gras , done just right , awesome - Pork & beef Platter ( by the grams) , it's tasty and well roasted. - Salmon, grilled - nice - Broccoli done nicely.

Google
in general quite tasty meat and rice. would love it if they had options to add on vegetables into rice instead of me having to order on whole $10 place of veggies for my veggie starter.

⭐️ Pork Cheek was super soft and tender! At $15, it’s a bit pricey for hawker setting but I’d say the quality is on par or even surpasses restaurants like Aburien!! Plus there’s no additional GST / svc! Only thing is I wish the portion was bigger! Serving was around 100g of meat but so good that I want to eat more!! 🚌While it’s a little out of the way if you’re taking public transport, I’d say it’s worth the trip. Also, this hawker centre is quite unique with the selection of stalls & has a retro decor! Will definitely be back to try out other food

Hawker centre setting. No aircon. Stuffy. Accept CDC. food ok. Beef doneness ok. The boss is friendly.

The ribeye beef is very tough and does not taste good. It’s also strange that they do not accept CDC vouchers if the amount is not exact.

Yelp
We found this place one evening. We live 5 mins away but never explored the second level of The Bedok Market. We were very pleasantly surprised. I had the pork cheeks and hubby had the wagyu with foie gras. The meat was tender and juicy and melt in your mouth. The sauce is to die for. Will definitely come back. Sorry forgot to take the food pictures.

Yelp
I have been here whenever I am around the east area. I often come here for the wagyu rump don & yakitori. Especially the Wagyu rump don, it's cooked to Medium & over Japanese rice with an onsen egg. It's also wonderfully done with a light sauce over it. Jeramy who runs the place personally does the charcoal cooking & his father man the order counter. The best is I can have my Wagyu Don with a jug of Sapporo beer at the same time.... Look at the my 2nd Picture on the beef itself...grilled to perfection (Medium).

Yelp
Been a regular here for the past year so I've had the opportunity to watch this place grow. Started off with real consistency and quality, and despite the severely trimmed down menu that was introduced at the start of the year, I still returned for the pork and beef bowls, albeit less frequently. As with most newly successful small businesses, I began to see corners being cut and the quality of food gradually dropping. The final straw was the last 2 visits where my regular pork cheek bowls were made of mainly fatty bits of pork, with the fat barely rendered. Despite my feedback, I was given excuses that the pork cheeks were meant to contain mainly fat and therefore I was served a properly prepared dish. I might've accepted that but the fact that it didn't used to be like that for the good part of the year I ate there made me wonder if they've begun to trim less of the fat away to bulk up the smaller portions of meat. I returned at the promise of new dishes, which never appeared. I returned when I was given the occasional poorly prepared serving of beef or pork, usually on a busy weekend prepped by a part time chef. I returned even after having had a poorly rendered serving of pork that had to be re-fired. But I'm not going to return after facing a multitude of poor excuses that this is the way their supplier sends their pork orders, told that my idea of a leaner pork cheek was not right and owner Jeremy not even taking the time to see what was wrong with his regular's order despite having full view of my discussion with his cashier. Kinda sad that this promising youthful business let its success get to its head.
