The Butcher Chef - Review - Toronto - The Infatuation

"This steakhouse near Scotiabank Arena is lined with magnums of California cab and anchored by a four-tier chandelier that whispers “expense account.” But the food lives up to that grandiosity, like a stellar caesar salad studded with honey bacon cubes so good we always order an extra side of them, and the dry-aged PEI prime steak cooked to a flawless medium-rare and served with a trio of salts. (There’s also a globe-trotting cow lineup spanning the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, and Japan.) The sides are scene-stealing, including mushrooms flambéed tableside with brandy, but our favorite part of a meal here might be the surprise bites they sneak in-between dishes, like a comforting three-bite turkey shepherd’s pie, or a tiny but mighty wagyu tartare tartlet. From the steaks down to the ultra-attentive service, this place makes you feel like you’ve arrived, even if it’s just from Union Station." - Renée Suen

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating a birthday at the butcher chef and indulging in their 11 course tasting menu! What a treat it was! Every course was soo fun and creative and of course, absolutely delicious! The star of the show was of course the wagyu and the different salts to try (ours being the black salt). The service was top notch (shoutout to our server Nicole she was great!) and the place was very intimate and just made you feel special. The 11 course tasting menu was $350 a person. If you’re needing a place for a special occasion or just need to do something different or just want to treat yourself this is the place! A fine dining experience indeed, 10/10 highly recommend and we hope to be back sooner than later!

Hands down, this is my favorite steakhouse in the city. The quality of the food is consistently outstanding. On my most recent visit, I started with the phenomenal 14 oz grass-fed strip loin, which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I also branched out and tried their branzino, and it was equally delicious—flaky, tender, and expertly prepared. The side dishes were flawless accompaniments: the tangy zucchini with feta was bright and fresh, and the earthy mushrooms added incredible depth. Every element of the meal was exceptional; they simply never miss a beat. IG: mansafx

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here and would highly recommend this gem in Toronto. Our expectations were completely exceeded. We came in wanting just a light meal—three different salads—as it was a hot day and we’d had a big lunch. To our surprise, the gentleman serving us brought out a complimentary appetizer before our meal, and later a complimentary dessert as well. The service was truly exceptional. He was warm, well-spoken, and clearly passionate about both the food and the overall guest experience. It felt like fine dining, even though we ordered something simple. Every detail was thoughtfully executed. We’ll definitely be back and will be recommending this place to friends and family.

We had the best time at the Butcher Chef!! hands down one of the most thoughtful and delicious dining experiences we’ve had in Toronto. We came in as a group of four adults and two kids and from the moment we sat down, we were so well taken care of. The staff were warm, professional, and surprisingly great with kids :) which is not always the case at higher end spots! The food? Incredible. We ordered steak and it was perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. The sides of asparagus and mushrooms were rich and flavorful. I could’ve eaten an entire bowl of just the mushrooms. The kids had fried chicken and fries, which they devoured without a single complaint (a small miracle for picky eaters). Dessert was another highlight. We shared the pistachio cake and white chocolate cheesecake, and they were both out of this world and plated like artwork… The atmosphere was classy but still cozy, and even with two kids in tow, we never felt out of place. It’s the kind of place where you can celebrate something special, or treat your loved ones to a beautiful meal. We left full and happy! Highly recommend

On Monday evening, The Butcher Chef became the setting for an unforgettable birthday celebration in honor of my husband - a man of impeccable taste and a lover of precision, both in finance and flavor. What unfolded was nothing short of a culinary symphony, orchestrated masterfully by Chef Klaus and the ever-gracious General Manager, Daniel. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a warmth that felt both elevated and personal. Daniel greeted us by name, and every gesture throughout the evening reflected intention, care, and a touch of indulgence - exactly what a birthday dinner should be. Bravo, The Butcher Chef. You remain one of the rare gems in the city we’re genuinely proud to patron - and you’ve never let us down.

We went here for my husbands birthday and we were blown away! The food and service was amazing, the staff were polite and friendly, everything tasted 10/10 the truffle pasta was my favourite dish.

Google
Steak was great! Dining environment was nice. Service was okay. Green and herbs salad was light and fresh. House bread came with cheese on top and some syrup adding some sweetness which was nice. The bread was baked well. The duck bite was offered in house surprisingly but tasted good. The Steak was great! One of the best I have had so far in town. It had a bit more fat than usual ribeyes but the meat was very tasty, tender, flavorful. 3 types of sauce was on side. Smoked scallops were a bit disappointing. The dish was a bit salty. Smoked scallops with pastas which was not that great. Sautéed mushrooms are also great, rich and tasty. Cocktails are all good. Service was okay. A lady served my table but was not that friendly. Overall a super place for steak!

Google
Best steakhouse in Toronto? Order: Green salad, lil Joe aussie grass fed rib eye, miyazaki a5 wagyu, canadian dry aged bone in striploin, mushrooms, fries, Brussels sprouts. My buddy had this onion cocktail..I had a brown butter old fashioned. Location 4.5/5 - lots of paid parking. The sign isnt super noticeable and you can easily end up at harbour sixty if not careful otherwise it is at the pinnacle centre. Atmosphere:5/5 niche vibe if you like smaller more intimate dining setting. A classy and quaint restaurant. Very comfortable and unique. Value: 5/5 - you pay for what you get. However they do throw in amuse bouche, intermezzo and petit four. Usually restaurants dont do that and id take that over bread service. Service: 5/5. Our server I believe his name is Timothy (I apologize if I got his name wrong) was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Confident. Well mannered. Impeccably smart. He knew how to curate the meal based on what we wanted to eat. The entire service staff was great. Food: 4.5/5. Steak was cooked perfectly but not as seasoned as id like. I believe the restaurant did it on purpose to highlight the beef and provided the salts for guests to adjust so I wont fault them for that. Great crust. Two guys 3 steaks. Basically the last steak was dessert. Brussell sprouts, not the best not the worst. I thought they would have more char and crisp. Fries. Unfortunately this was the worst dish of the night. It had flavor but lacked crisp. I expected more. Mushrooms. I hate mushrooms but I appreciate the craft and artistry with the brandy and flames. I did taste them. Great sauce. Fresh and well cooked. I just do not enjoy the vegetable. Me issue not theirs. Recommend if you enjoy. Salad - lots of mixed greens with this delicious sweet sesame dressing. Incredible. One of the best salads I tasted in a while. Well balanced. Fresh. A perfect salad. Amuse bouche: lovely. There were mushrooms but enough cheese and tart crust made it delightful. Intermezzo: incredible creamy foam with some sort of braised beef. Flavor bomb. Petit four - macaroon was good. Truffle was luxuriously decadent. Even the raspberry was sweet and ripe. Overall 5/5. The food was excellent. However, the boutique style and elegant vibe combined with precision in the delivery of service was the highlight. The subtle fine touches really illustrates the organization and detail of the team's effort. Excellent planning and execution. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion, just to splurge, a high end casual meet up with close friends, family dinner or a romantic evening with your wife, girlfriend or mistress. Sets the bar too high for a first date though lol. Dont be a simp. Anyways excellent restaurant and phenomenal management. Is it the best steakhouse in Toronto? It is up there but compared to just the steakhouses in Toronto this is the most complete restaurant.

Yelp
A truly exceptional dining experience. As an out-of-town business traveller with a long family history in food and entrepreneurship, I'm always on the lookout for restaurants that get it right from end to end -- and The Butcher Chef absolutely delivers. Family-owned, proudly farm-to-table, with a top-shelf bar program and service that is both warm and professional. Every dish was thoughtful, balanced, and clearly crafted with intention. You can taste the care coming out of the kitchen. If you appreciate restaurants that engage all the senses -- flavor, presentation, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality -- you'll leave here completely satisfied. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The Butcher Chef is one of those restaurants you keep in mind for a special occasion -- or, in our case, for dinner before watching the Leafs lose an important game. It's a small, elegant space that feels both intimate and deliberate, with every detail carefully thought through. What we ordered: foie gras, octopus, Caesar salad, and a range of steaks. The meal begins with amuse-bouche -- little bites that quietly announce the kitchen knows what it's doing. The food: exceptional across the board. The foie gras is rich and perfectly seared, the octopus tender with a bit of char, and the steaks are cooked and seasoned with precision. Every course feels intentional and balanced. You get what you pay for here -- and it isn't cheap. Atmosphere: the room is compact but beautifully designed, with warm lighting, dark wood, and an inviting sense of calm. The crowd is an eclectic mix of people who can clearly afford to enjoy themselves -- couples celebrating, small groups, a few well-dressed professionals, and the occasional Leafs jersey on game nights. It's upscale without feeling exclusive or pretentious. Service: on par with the food -- confident, well-timed, and polished. The team moves with quiet efficiency and professionalism throughout the night. Overall: not the best value in town, but easily one of the best steak experiences in Toronto. Perfect for a special dinner, an anniversary, or softening the sting of a tough loss at Scotiabank Arena.

Yelp
This place is very upscale and for quality meat lovers. Be sure to tell your dietary restrictions up front. For someone who eats mostly vegetarian, some seafood and chicken, it's not ideal but their cocktails are great. Their wine pairing with food is amazing. Some of the salads especially zucchini with feta and roasted red peppers with mushroom were delightful. The gnocchi with scallops was good, a little smelly for my liking but I'm also very picky about my seafood. The desserts are incredible, as you can tell from my pics. I indulged in all the desserts in front of me. Wow, I would just do desserts here if I could. The place is upscale, so go with your best dining etiquette, or they'll remind you. Be sure to check out the restrooms. They have the Japanese technology toilets which are really cool! Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
Our celebration dinner at The Butcher Chef in Toronto was one we will never forget. Along with impeccable service, the food was absolutely outstanding, and the extra attention given to our table (including complimentary amuse bouche and several desserts) made us feel very well taken care of. We will definitely return the next time we visit our dear friends in Ontario!

Yelp
This has become my favorite restaurant in Toronto, and I have been to many. I have been to the Butcher Chef, multiple times, sometimes on business, sometimes with friends. I've always enjoyed it and recommended it but yesterday was at a new level. I had a really bad week so decided to go on my own; it was the perfect cure. I sat at the bar and both bartenders were nice and professional. I always appreciate that they serve multiple amuse bouche, a rarity at even the best staleakhouses. Both were great, especially a beautiful piece of roast duck. As a starter I wanted something I hadn't had before. It was great. The tomatoes were beautiful but what worked well was how the burrata, pickled mushrooms and crispy shallots were integrated in the dish. The steak you know would be good, I had the six ounce Awaji A5 and it did not disappoint. The surprise, however, was the Ontario corn side. It was arguably the highlight of the night, and I loved the A5, it blew me away. Overall a fantastic meal at a great restaurant.

Yelp
We booked the patio since that was the only seating area left when I reserved. It's completely covered and the street view is blocked with lots of plants so it feels quite private. There's also heating lamps which are used in colder weather. The service was really great and attentive. They recommended sharing everything and they can split out the dishes in the kitchen for everyone. The food was good. I loved the French fries as a side. The blueberry cheesecake is a must order. I would go back just for that alone. Definitely a great date night spot.

Yelp
If you're a steak enthusiast, run (don't walk) to this amazing steakhouse tucked away downtown near the Harbourfront. You might miss it at first, there's no big flashy sign, so definitely use Google Maps to find it, but once you're inside, you're in for something special. Right off the bat, the space feels sophisticated and classy. Service was phenomenal. Our server took the time to walk us through their extensive selection of steaks from around the world. One of the coolest parts? They actually serve Japanese A5-grade Wagyu, which is super rare to find around here. I went with the 8oz Miyazaki A5 Wagyu striploin, and honestly... it was the best steak I've ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside, unbelievably tender and buttery inside, which melts in your mouth. Absolute perfection. We started with a seafood platter for the table, which was fresh and beautifully presented. For sides, we shared a few, and my personal faves were the potato & leek and the zucchini with crisp feta; both packed with flavour and really well-balanced. Before the steaks were served, they brought out these stunning handcrafted steak knives. Small touch, but really elevated the whole experience. You can tell they care about every detail, from the plating to the cutlery to the ambiance. Dessert was a showstopper. We tried three: the chocolate mousse tart, the citrus honey bar, and the standout: an Orange Blossom Pistachio Cake. Layered with orange blossom whipped ganache, pistachio praline, Madeline biscuits, halva hair, and candied pistachio, it was a masterpiece in both flavour and texture; sweet, nutty, fragrant, and absolutely delicious. Cocktails were equally impressive. I had the Old Fashioned, but it came with a twist: brown butter maple syrup, which made it super smooth and just the right amount of sweet. All in all, this place is an absolute gem. From the incredible steaks to the top-tier service and attention to detail, this restaurant delivers on every level. Highly, highly recommend for any steak lover.

Yelp
The Butcher Chef is one of the high-end steak house in Toronto. It competes with Jacob&Co and Blueblood. It is my first time going to this fancy restaurant and have high expectations. Luckily, my restaurant did not disappoint me. Service is top-notch, price is on the higher side but portion is generous. We ordered beef and king crab roll for app, truffle ravioli to share, 16oz Argentina ribeye with sautéed mushroom, finish off with the cheesecake. Truffle Ravioli is the highlight of the night, the ravioli filled with A5 minced beef, top of truffle, and good portion to share. Steak is well seasoned and comes with 3 types of salt from around the world. We love the beef and king crab roll, a very special combination that never finds in other restaurants. Definitely, we will come back and try different things from the menu!

Yelp
Good place within walking distance of our hotel and other attractions...next time we're there we're making that one of our stops.

Yelp
I would highly recommend this amazing restaurant. The food was exquisite the service was over and above amazing. We had a young man named Sky who was servicing us. He was very knowledgeable and personable. I also want to thank Steve who I believe was the manager or owner. The service was second to none. Great people skills. I'm looking forward to visiting them again. Thank you The Butcher Chef

Yelp
Super bougie steak and super bougie prices! Food is decent but I don't know if I would come if I had to pay for it myself... overall, I found the food a touch too salty with super tiny portions, and everything was quite gimicky. We started off with some cocktails - I was shocked to find that they were almost $30 on average! I almost thought that I had been transported back to Singapore with these prices. My orchard sour was good, quite strong. My colleague got the clover club and it arrived with a bunch of dry ice / nitrogen gas... they then served some small tartare amuse bouche, which were quite delicious. We then moved on to appetizers. We had all expected the daily bread to be a house-baked bread basket, but it was a small brioche loaf (of four pieces), gratuitously topped with fried onion bits and then smothered in gravy and liquid cheese. The foie gras was fatty and indulgent, just as you'd expect. The caviar tuna tartare was good, but I found the cracker a bit soggy (as it was pressed between the tartare) and there was just a smidge of caviar... definitely not worth the $120 price tag. The crab and beef (crab meat with micro-greens wrapped in carpaccio beef) was quite delicious, but the caesar salad was honestly very disappointing. It was full of anchovy flavour but super salty. Not the mention the portions were for a child! Finally came the time for mains. Overwhelmed by the menu options, we told the waiter that he could help us pick a few options. He chose 5 steaks, aiming for about 7oz per person, but my colleagues (all meat lovers) enthusiastically suggested he go up to 8oz. And so, we ended up with 6 steaks. The waiter also selected some truffle raviolini for us to start. The raviolini was bite-sized, perfect for easy eating. It had a very meaty and cheesy flavour, and we all inhaled it in no time. Before serving the steak, our server came up to us with a big, grand-looking wooden box. He gave a spiel about how for our fine steaks, we need fine knives, and walked us through the knives - how they're made from Damascus steel, folded over in 2048 layers, something about very expensive wood from Hawaii that is harvested when the tree naturally dies... then told us to "choose our weapon". Haha, so epic. The steaks were cut into 7 portions (for us 7 people) and placed on our plates from leanest (left hand side) to most fatty. The steaks were a tenderloin, penokean striploin, a PEI ribeye, a la morocha farm ribeye, a wagyu blend striploin, and a Miyazaki wagyu striploin. I think my personal favourites were the PEI ribeye and the two wagyus. The pure wagyu, which was beautifully marbled, literally melted in my mouth. However, I was so stuffed by this point that I only ate a bit of each... and gave the rest to my still hungry colleagues for them to enjoy. We were also served a bunch of house sides, which included extremely buttery roast maitake mushrooms, shoestring fries, cheesy leeks, and more. By the end of the meal, everyone was stuffed... but then they brought out four desserts on the house. The Black Forest was okay, the cheesecake was good (but again, served over the top with dry ice thrown all over it), the Paris Brest tasted like a Nutella dessert, and the lemon cake was nice and light. What a perfect way to end an indulgent night! P.S. even the washrooms were super fancy with Toto washlets that came alive and opened when someone stepped in. Wish I took a photo!

Yelp
One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in the city! This beautiful hidden gem in downtown Toronto serves some of the best foods and cocktails in the city. The minimal seating allows for an intimate personalized experience. I came for the first time with a friend yesterday and made a reservation at the bar for Saturday night. The staff are incredible, with impressive high-quality service. A huge shoutout to Sky (the bartender) and Mo (lead server), these two made our experience the BEST. Sky is so kind and extremely knowledgeable, we asked him to surprise us based on our tastes, and he made the best cocktails. He is so so talented! Mo, was so friendly, and asked us many times if there was anything we needed or to help us with making menu choices. We had several cocktails, Sky's espresso martini was fantastic and we also ordered asparagus and mushroom dishes, as well as a beautiful chocolate gateau that came with chocolate crumble and vanilla ice cream (ugh to die for)! We can't wait to come back and have dinner, and enjoy the steak and extensive wine list!

Yelp
So many variations of meat, sea food , Service is also nice and very attentive. Restaurant interior is dark and good for relaxing.

Yelp
The food here is pretty good but it's way overpriced. Also, the food was a bit too pretentious for my liking - not everything needs to be caviar, wagyu and truffles. Otherwise, the vibe was nice with great service. The restaurant feels a bit cramped - I constantly found myself nearly bumping into servers, and the space overall felt poorly designed. I enjoyed the experience but I doubt I'd come back.

Yelp
Solid but pricey This place is solid and it looks nice. Even with the automated toilets. It's a bit too Miami trendy as opposed to conventional steak house fine dining though. Service was decent but more on the trendy side. They do most of the things a fine dining restaurant would do. But they somewhat lack the precision or refinement of the Michelin starred restaurants. The complementary beef tartare amuse bouche to start was delicious. As was the Ceasar salad that had a nice vinegary taste. They were even nice enough to split our order in two for us. The tuna and A5 steak tartare was visually nice with the crisps freshly fried and flecks of gold sprinkled on top. But the tartare itself lacked the intensity of flavour we expect from it. The branzino had a nice size and the flambé was fun to watch. The cream sauce on top was too much though. Had the PEI dry aged ribeye that was good. Apparently the best of the ribeyes. I've had better. This wasn't bad. Just not spectacular. The Au gratin leak and potatoes were fantastic. Brussel sprouts were ok. One negative is the wait staff didn't hear my request for my food to be packed up. We left the restaurant and forgot about it until it was too late. But if they did their job correctly they should have delivered the leftovers to our table or had it waiting in front. Not impressed with that.

Yelp
What an experience! Read some really good reviews on the Butcher Chef and decided to make a reservation on a Saturday date-night. The service was impeccable. Very friendly with great suggestions and opinions. I was complimenting the ambiance to my partner that they must have spent millions on the renovations and decor as every detail inside was gorgeous and meticulously thought out. We ordered the sea bass and scallops along with the 24oz bone-in rib eye steak. Both were cooked to perfection and I really see a medium-rare steak... cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The outter crust of the steak was charred to the exact degree of perfect. It could not have been better (IMO). The side mushroom was also a spectacle where they pour the au jus at the table to make it extra special. As for the dessert, we could not decide on either the Bailey's cake or their Cheesecake. We ended up ordering the Cheesecake based on our servers suggestion and he was so nice he also brought the Bailey's cake as complimentary as we were hard pressed to decide. Magnificent. I would HIGHLY recommend the cheesecake also. Overall, I would give a 5/5 as it was a standout dinner from beginning to end.

Yelp
I've eaten in fine dining restaurants in Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington DC, and Boston, this is hands down the best dining experience that my wife and I have ever had. We were offered to meet the head chef.. which we did. Humbly he mentioned that it was his crew, but I mentioned that it was his recipes, and training that makes a kitchen what it is. Not the most expensive meal, but definitely the best culinary experience we've had.. ever. Highly recommended.. Ron-

Yelp
Wow! Start to finish, this was an amazing experience. From the drinks, to the food, to the hospitality, this place delivered. This place prides themselves on the quality of their entire product and it shows. I sat down to a really well put together amuse-bouche and everything after that was incredibly well thought through. Foie gras was amazing, drinks were fantastic, and the service was impeccable. Thanks for the experience!

Yelp
One fine night, we decided to give this place a try because I basically live above this place. No reservation, just walked in. I got the feeling it was a bit fancy, but when the hostess said "do you want to see a menu first, or are you comfortable", I was sure it was fancy and a little bit concerned about my wallet. Nonetheless, the t-bone steak was fantastic, and the cheese cake was memorable. The service was really top-notch. The sommelier was on hand to help with the wine selection, and our server knew everything about the beef they were serving. Turns out they have a pretty thick handbook (with pictures) of everything about the beef they serve. They are serious about their meat. The cheesecake was no everyday cheesecake, either. This cheesecake had extra flair. It comes to your table with smoking cold nitrogen. For a walk-in, it was a really amazing experience and totally worth it.

Yelp
Where do I even begin? My family and I flew in from Hawaii & California for a birthday getaway for our mom (September 23). We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. Sebastian helped us the entire night and he was so helpful with any questions we had. The food was *chef's kiss*. We ordered a handful of appetizers and they were so kind to plate a few of them individually. One of my favorite dishes was the fresh pesto bread and the surf and turf. Almost every dish we ordered had so much flavor and it all complimented each other. If ever you're in the area and wanting a nice place to eat with the friendliest service, I suggest trying The Butcher Chef.

Yelp
Amazing steak. Perfectly cooked. My wife had the lobster thermidor and loved it. The only small gripe is that there was not simple veggies side dish. They all had cream, or bacon. A bouquetiere of steamed veggies would of been great. I will be going back

Christian W.

Yelp
The best meal you may have. Everything is perfect always. The potatoes and leeks are an epic spin on basic au gratin potatoes. Darcy and the service was fabulous. The atmosphere is relaxed and extremely enjoyable for all kinds of occasions.

Yelp
We had the best service from Skylar and team. He was a great waiter and made the meal enjoyable. The food was very good and high quality. The bread was phenomenal and the environment was intimate and fancy.

Yelp
We visited this fine dining steakhouse for a celebration, and enjoyed our experience. The butchery-inspired restaurant offers the finest cuts of beef ranging from Australian, American and Japanese, to seafood options. The ambiance portrayed a gentleman's club lounge vibe, with dark interior accents. We ordered plates from each, and did family style sharing. The most rememberable dishes were the: 1. Wagyu Tartar Highly recommended by our server, the dish had the option to either be a Tartar or carpaccio. It was paired with parmigiano, frozen lemon, truffle and a side of sour dough bread. We enjoyed the dish, however didn't find anything special about it from other tartars. 2. Seared Foie Gras One of our favourite dishes of the night, paired with sweeten plums, French toast, and chutney. We found the flavours rich, savoury and buttery. 3. Truffle Raviolini A pasta dish made with a wagyu filling, and topped off with fresh truffle. We ordered two portions sizes to share, and found the flavours nutty and cheesy. Moving onto the steaks, we ordered two different cuts. 1. Australian Tomahawk This steak was huge! 52oz of tender and buttery meat. It was a great sharing dish, and super flavourful. 2. Miyazaki Striploin This striploin was super juicy with a serious umami flavour. One to two pieces was enough to get everyone's buttery fix in. The desserts were delicious, satisfying our sweet tooth. Our favourite desserts were the: 1. Cheesecake This was hands down our favourite dessert, it had a white chocolate and pumpkin cream cheese paired with a vanilla cream cheese, and a frozen mint foam. It had a nice sour and tangy taste, with a smooth creamy filling. 2. Chocolate Gateaux This cake had a mousse texture with a hint of crunch from the chocolate rice bark. We found the chocolate flavour super rich and creamy.

Yelp
Went for Friday night dinner with some girl friends. I got there a bit early and enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar. From the time I walked in, the service was friendly and professional. The team is attentive - our server provided great advice when we were ordering our meal. We got assistance in ordering wines and the suggestions were spot on. I haven't had such great wines in a long time. We enjoyed every single bite we took - and we were all looking forward to our leftovers. The space is small enough to feel very intimate and not too loud. Also, shout out to the fun Japanese Toto toilets!

Yelp
Finaaallly after many moons I got to try this upscale steakhouse. I'm so glad this spot opened because spots like STK, Harbour 60 and Jacobs are kinda played out with the value for quality of food being subpar We had: Wagyu Tartar: This was almost $100 for a small portion but wow was it good. The beef was so tender and the freshly shaved truffle was to die for Seared Foie Gras: Perfect combo of buttery, sweet and savoury goodness. It was perfect on french toast but just wished it was a bit bigger (the toast) Pea & Fennel Salad: This reminded me of a smaller version of the slaw at Lee restaurant. Full of flavor with many textures and delicious! Truffle Raviolini: Pretty good, the truffle really elevated the dish too Octopus: The octopus pieces were quite small and the dish was filled with lots of other items which was disappointing A5 Miyazaki Wagyu: You can't go wrong with A5 WAgyu. It was perfectly cooked and super buttery. Definitely recommending a small portion as it's extremely rich and fatty Australian Tomahawk Wagyu: Got lucky with this cut of meat which was perfect for our group of 6. It was cooked perfectly and the selection of custom knives was a nice touch. Cheese cake, Chocolate Gateaux, Limoncello Baba: They were all delicious and beautifully presented! Our server was really great. He was personable and funny and even threw in a few comped deserts and didn't charge us a cake cutting fee like they do everywhere now. If you're going to spend $$$ on a steakhouse I'd rather spend it here than anywhere else. Highly recommend and will definitely be back

Yelp
Excellent food, wonderful service, and great ambiance! Came into Toronto for a wedding and had a night to ourselves, had an exceptional date night. Food was incredible! Did not take picture because was enjoying the moment, but plating was beautiful!

Yelp
Service is good, food is tasty, a good place to go when having enough budget. The service manager is kind and professional.

Yelp
Terrible service and racist manager! we were here to celebrate a friends birthday and they ruined the cake we bought in! Apparently some staffer bumped into the cake in the kitchen, which is a custom made cake and a very symbolic piece showing bull market for my friend who's in Finance, so as you can imagine having it literarily "crashing" is not a great look. The manager, Steve, did not show any empathy towards this horrible situation, and frankly has been quite racist about it (I'm sure if we are a bunch of white folks insead of Asians we'll be treated very differently, I can just tell by his tone and how he treated us). He basically offered to compensate for just the cake (Which cost over $200 alone) and waive the tips (which of course we won't give anyway). When we said "then you are going to lost us as customers forever", Steve basically said - be my guest. Anyway, terrible terrible experience and suffice to say we won't ever come here again.

Yelp
Nice dinner. Great apps. Good steak, excellent selections. Large wine list. Attentive service. Spendy. We liked the tuna/a5 tartare and the raviolini the best.

Yelp
Food and service was very good. Lucky I liked my steak on the rear side, we asked for medium rare and it was still a bit mooing.

Yelp
* all food photos not shown* Everything about this establishment was great. I decided to go on a solo trip to Toronto and picked The Butcher Chef's tasting menu for my birthday dinner. The decor was mesmerizing my favorite was the wine wall. The Chef's tasting menu was well worth the money spent on it which was almost $500. The hosts, waiters, and manager were amazing I had great conversations with them and I was more than pleased to be in their presence and making my birthday as amazing as it was. The food: I can't quite go into detail like I usually do but the menu consist of 10 courses and you will be very full by course 5 (I did make it to all courses). The photos are not just for looks the good tastes amazing from the wagu tartar, lemon salad, short rib, scallop, wagu steak every single dish was splendid. If you are a foodie I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to eat here. The chef was amazing and polite. Beyond that timely! He didn't miss a beat and I'm proud of him for his hard work on my dishes. I've told all my friends to definitely go to this restaurant when visiting Canada. I'll surely be back for another round.

Yelp
The food was top notch! I've been to a lot of high end steak houses in the city and I keep coming back here over and over again because of the food! the atmosphere and the service! it's not over rated like other steak houses in the city where you just go there to pay a high price for the atmosphere and get shit food! here you get what you pay for and more!

Yelp
One of the best meals ever. Great service and tremendous attention to details. Everything was spot on, from the second you step inside the restaurant. Great food, great drinks and the chef/owner truly cares about his food and craft. The Kobe beef was exquisite and truly melts in your mouth. You pay for what you get. The Australian Wagyu has more beefy flavour but still very tender and juicy due to the fat content. Can't go wrong with either to be honest. If you go as a group, it's best to order a few to share try out a few different ones Seafood Tower was fresh and has a great variety. No misses here. This place is great for a special occasion meal and you are paying for the quality. I prefer this more than the likes of Harbor Sixty or STK etc. The restaurant paid great attention to all details, even their sound system etc. They spared no expenses in order to provide its diners the best experience for their money. Will be back to try out the tasting menu maybe next.

Yelp
The food, the service, & ambiance was nothing less than extraordinary! The host (which I forgot her name, Sebastian and the whole staff made our dinning experience top notch. They were so easy to work with when it came to surprising our mom for for her birthday. The food was ammmmaaazing, the dessert & drinks! I had requested for a specific dessert that was not on the menu but they made it work for me which was so kind of them. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant!

Yelp
Outstanding steaks and service. Owner/operator very engaging. Highly recommend the cheesecake dessert, which is very unique and flavorful. Ambiance is warm, elegant, and cozy. Will definitely be back on next visit to Toronto.

Yelp
At first glance, this place may seem overpriced especially for starters and sides. However, the portions were very generous and enough to share for the table. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. This place was well worth the splurge.

Yelp
We had the tasting menu at The Butcher Chef and each dish was flavourful, nicely prepared and unique. Portions were good for a tasting menu and we were very full at the end of the evening. Staff are very knowledgeable of how the dishes are prepared and made good drinks suggestions. Great wine list and cocktails. The room is cozy and comfortable, but that means a reservation is a must because it's very popular.

Yelp
Beautiful place.. a bit pricy bulgur worth it. Not only the steaks but the side dishes were really amazing. Their Japan toilets are also an experience:) They gave a mind on their own; technology gives another dimension to the experience:) Can't go wrong

Yelp
An upmarket steakhouse, with great service (attentive, very well versed, well paced, without being disruptive); and great food. This is definitely a venue for special occasions, with prices to match.

Yelp
Tldr: For a steakhouse boldly named The Butcher Chef, the steak was pretty average. Walked in after reopening on a Friday night looking for dinner and drinks. Not a special occasion and had no expectations coming in. Service: The owner/managers seems like good people and were friendly but the staff is surprisingly unknowledgeable about their dry aged beef. I got a murky roughly 40 days when I asked how many days the steaks were dry aged for (it does not state it on the menu) and also quite an ambivalent and ambiguous answer when asked if the dry aging is done in-house. Food: The bone in ribeye came in well rested but the crust was not well seared, maybe because it rained on the day and the humidity was high but the crust was not crispy or have any sort of the crunch one might look for. The cook and colour was consistent but the grey band is pretty thick for a medium rare. Steaks appear to be broiled so they could do with a higher temperature searing process. Steak came on a warm plate, not finished with butter and was only salted but no pepper as far as I can tell. Options for salt and sauces were lacking with only kosher and Himalayan salt available. Himalayan salt also came in the fine grain table salt variety. No pepper, even on the side. We also shared an appetizer and 2 deserts, both were well presented (read modern and instagramable) but with forgettable taste and and a pretty hefty price-tag for the portion. Even for lakefront Toronto. Wine: Did not order but the wine list is surprising extensive for a new restaurant. Heavy on Italian options, a little pricey. The price for a pretty average diner was about $150 per person with one app, one drink per person and dessert. That price level is in line with some of the older, venerable mainstay steakhouses like Jacobs, and Harbour Sixty just down the street. For that price I was expecting a better level of product and a more knowledgable staff. I live within a two minute walk and I will still be driving to my next steakhouse meal. Business seems to be good just after reopening, but for a restaurant clearly positioned to compete against the old guard there is a lot of work to do. I should probably cut them some slack due to the unfortunate timing for their first years of operation but as a consumer your money is better spent elsewhere, at least for now.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food! They ok my girlfriend here fir her birthday and we both had a wonderful experience. The only downside was that we both found it hard to find.

Yelp
Best service at a restaurant i have ever experiences. After facing racial prejudice at a 4 star restaurant prior to Butcher Chef. Here we were served and waited in immediately.

Curtis K.

Yelp
Expected a lot more based on the pricing. Steak was just ok. Service was not the best they didn't explain the menu. They took our drinks away faster than cleaning the table. With 4 people we spent $1400 including tip. I was expecting the same level of service like Michael's on Simcoe seeing it's the same owner. The meal was not memorable. Will not be going back or recommending.

Yelp
The menu may seem a little bit pricey, but their steaks worth every penny. The service is above and beyond any expectations. Definitely one of my favorite places in Toronto.
