The Butchers Arms

"A thick wooden door salvaged from an old ship leads you into this sweet rural inn where hop bines vie for space with the locals’ tankards on low exposed beams. The menu is short but packed full of top quality seasonal ingredients and honest flavours lead the way. The friendly team create a warm, friendly atmosphere, and they serve the ales straight from the keg." - Michelin Inspector

Yelp
Ssssh, don't tell anyone but The Butchers Arms is really, really good. Small and pretty rustic inside, this is very much about the food. It's run by a lovely couple, and I can't say I've had a better meal or friendlier service in Gloucestershire. It's not exactly a pub, since you'd have to be very local to go here and not eat. Nice small menu and I'd say you'd be hard pushed to make a bad choice - I've let them choose for me before as I like surprises ... good ones, anyway. Very reasonably priced for the quality and care. You'd pay twice this in Cheltenham and have to cope with a haughty atmosphere too. Children aren't accepted, which is a shame for me as otherwise I'd go more, however not usually a massive fan of other people's children so it probably works out pretty well on balance. It's usually pretty difficult to get a table and is full weeks in advance for Fridays and Saturdays, so whilst I don't to make my life even harder I do think they deserve recognition for what they do.
