SIMPLY OUTSTANDING ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ample parking, cosy atmosphere without feeling at all cramped. Menu offers plenty of choice (inc. gf/veg). The food was stunning. Our party ate steak tartare and goats cheese starters, venison and cod mains. This was fine dining without the fuss. Good portions too. The steak tartare was as good as anything I've had in France. Venison good perfectly, super flavour and melt in the mouth. The service here was the best I've experienced, I think, anywhere. You can tell it's a family run establishment, ever so warm and friendly and can't do enough for you. Helps that it is not a huge place so staff are always accessible, but not in your face and so very genuinely lovely. This is not a pub with a restaurant, it's a high class, great value restaurant set in a traditional pub setting. First class, and if you think this is a BS review, 1. see my others and 2. just go and try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed

We went for lunch on a Sunday after being given a voucher by some very kind friends. The food was excellent, I would go as far as saying some of the best food I have had. Perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. The staff are all friendly and attentive, amazing service. As others have said its a lovely pub with a wonderful atmosphere, we were lucky to be seated by the open fire which only enhanced the atmosphere. The only negative about the whole visit was due to 2 couples seated behind us. 2 of the party were loud and obviously oblivious to those around them, they sadly got louder the more they drank. This was no fault of the owners, although hopefully those people will read this and hopefully be more considerate in future. Apart from this, an excellent experience and very reasonably priced, I would happily have paid more. We will definitely be back.

AMAZING! We stayed away for a few nights in October and booked this as our top find for our special Saturday night evening meal. We were not disappointed! Everything was amazing, from the welcoming staff, great atmosphere, beautiful quaint interior to the 'out of this world' delicious food.... it was the perfect evening. We love eating out throughout the country when we stay away and this is now in our all time top places. Highly recommended and we would love to eat here again. Jo-Anne you were such a perfect host and your business, food and staff are fantastic.

This is a wonderful cosy old English pub with comfortable seating for dining. The menu was limited to 4 or 5 dishes for each course which were perfectly prepared. Among our party we tried most dishes and they were perfect. The wine list was extensive and not overly expensive. The service was personal and friendly. It was so good I forgot to take pictures so I will have to return!

Simply one of the best lunch experiences I've ever had. Everything from the delicious soda bread to the dessert and all points in between were sublime. The wine list is thoughtful and great value with some excellent wines by the glass. Service was friendly and efficient. Absolutely faultless dining. Cannot wait to return.

A fantastic birthday lunch today with my family. A warm welcome and attentive service throughout. Food was just perfect - beautifully fresh and flavourful. Thank you to Jo for such a lovely experience. Highly, highly recommend this pub.

Absolutely lovely country pub with friendly staff, great atmosphere and excellent food! My duck wasn't that pink because I asked for it that way, and it was excellent. We may even consider coming to stay in their annex some weekend, we'll definitely be back to eat again. :)

Fantastic little pub, could not fault it. We went for a 30th Birthday lunch, the service leading up to the day was amazing and the care was exceptional, we had a few unique requests that were handled so nicely over the phone leading up to the day. Food was amazing, seasonal food to a very high standard, the atmosphere was wonderful and service extremely friendly. Very recommended!

Ssssh, don't tell anyone but The Butchers Arms is really, really good. Small and pretty rustic inside, this is very much about the food. It's run by a lovely couple, and I can't say I've had a better meal or friendlier service in Gloucestershire. It's not exactly a pub, since you'd have to be very local to go here and not eat. Nice small menu and I'd say you'd be hard pushed to make a bad choice - I've let them choose for me before as I like surprises ... good ones, anyway. Very reasonably priced for the quality and care. You'd pay twice this in Cheltenham and have to cope with a haughty atmosphere too. Children aren't accepted, which is a shame for me as otherwise I'd go more, however not usually a massive fan of other people's children so it probably works out pretty well on balance. It's usually pretty difficult to get a table and is full weeks in advance for Fridays and Saturdays, so whilst I don't to make my life even harder I do think they deserve recognition for what they do.
