This is an incredible restaurant and you're missing out if you haven't been. The steaks were absolutely delicious and the sides were fantastic. The crispy brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had. Potato wedges were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. There was also a bit of spice to the fries which was subtle and addicting. Don't even get me started on the bread. It was amazing. Most importantly, the service was excellent. Our waitress was always checking in on us and made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. I highly recommend coming here.

Came here for dinner. The seafood nachos were good, but it went downhill from there. The temp was incorrect for both me and my husband’s steaks. Our steaks, scallops and potatoes were EXTREMELY salty to the point where neither one of us finished our food. After asking for the check, we let the waitress know our concerns, just for future reference and we were not looking for a comp. Our waitress said that she would have her manager come over, but he never came. We had some guy come over (that did not introduce himself) and ask if we needed water and boxes. After that, the waitress came back and told us that the seasoning on the food is a “proprietary blend” and to “ask for light seasoning next time”. Also, she told us to cut into the steaks when we first get them next time so that we can know if it’s cooked to our liking. I feel like this should have been explained to us when we first sat down being that this was our first time there.

My parents came to visit from DC and asked for a recommendation on a quality steakhouse, and we all loved The Butcher’s Son! Making a reservation online was easy through their website. Decadent and flavorful lamp chops were so satisfying!! My toddler daughters enjoyed the steak bites so much they asked for them at dinner the next night.

We were here for a dinner invite for a friend's graduation. The place is nice and set up like 1960's nostalgia as seen by the pictures on the wall. The food was delicious and well prepared , which it should be because it was a little pricey! They could not accommodate our group of 12 so we had to be split into 3 tables, probably because it was a busy night. The manager did talk to us and try to explain why he couldn't get us all in one table. Will definitely recommend this place if you like steaks and wine.

Delightful and flavorful. Wasn’t expecting a pork chop to taste this good. Service was a little slow, but the atmosphere was eloquent. May not return due to the long drive, but if you’re local, give it a try!

My husband and I came to the restaurant anticipating an elegant and refined dining experience. It was anything but. The atmosphere was loud and raucous. The waitstaff seemed to encourage this behavior. Our waitress seemed unfamiliar with the menu. She failed to bring out the salad that was included with my husband’s dinner choice. She did not offer us any bread or rolls. We had to ask for the bread. There was an inordinate long wait between courses. I ordered my steak medium rare and it arrived medium to medium well. The dessert choices were limited and the banana pudding we order was tasteless There was no adjustment to the bill for the salad that was not served to my husband. Overall it was a very unpleasant dining experience

This has been on my list for a long time. Came for date night with my husband and was very impressed. We had a reservation and they were ready and waiting for us. We were seated at a nice table on the side and our server was wonderful. Prompt, exceedingly professional, and knowledgable about the menu and easily able to answer all questions. She kept our drinks full and was able to meet every need quickly. She did an excellent job. I chose a steak with risotto and my husband had the french dip sandwich with fries. We loved everything and the menu is much larger than I expected with much more than just steak available. Inside is very classy and they have two large nice spaces for private events. Bathrooms were very clean and cute. My only issue with the evening was the banana pudding which was super nasty. I should've sent it back - the bananas inside were brown and squishy and visible. I was so grossed out I didn't even eat it. Should've gotten the chocolate cake. Otherwise, stellar visit.

Yelp
We stopped by for my birthday. The food was great, bartender was great with recommendations and the manager EVEN stopped by to see how things were going. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I stopped in tonight for a quick drink after work. Everything was fantastic. The bartender, Josh, was just great. He recommended his cocktail creation, the Butterfly Effect, which was phenomenal. A "quick drink" turned into 3 drinks and 2 hours of great conversation with Josh and the manager, John. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Recently I visited The Butcher's Son with a friend for dinner; it was a first-time experience for both of us, and we were VERY pleased :-) The atmosphere is very welcoming with a classy, warm, bar kind of vibe. The venue is definitely family-friendly, but not in a Chucky-Cheese kind of way - it's unquestionably a place that's intended to be enjoyed by adults. We went early on a weekday without a reservation and were seated with minimal wait time. Our server was welcoming, efficient, and very friendly. We had menus and drinks within minutes of being seated, and our water and cocktail glasses weren't allowed to become empty. She also gave us several spot-on recommendations. As we were both in the mood for steak, we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. Both of our steaks were exceptional. My friend went with the rib-eye, and he reported that he was very much to his liking. I went with a fourteen ounce NY Strip which I requested be cooked medium rare. They did it exactly as asked - it was melt-in-your mouth tender, seasoned to perfection, with beautiful marbeling. My steak was served with a couple of really tender, large scallops over a bed of creamy risotto. It was so good that it required my Will of Iron not to lick my plate when it was gone ;-) We also shared the French Dip Spring Rolls and the Seafood Mac & Cheese. Both dishes were tasty and well presented. The French Dip was crispy on the outside with tender chunks of beef inside; the Mac & Cheese (blackened shrimp, lobster and lump crab tossed with mozzarella, crab soup, and cheddar cheese topped with crisp panko) was delicious and instantly addictive. The portion sizes were generous, so much so that it was all we could do when the meal was done to share a single dessert :-) The meal was more than a little on the pricey side, but all told, I couldn't have asked for a bettter dining experience. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Yummmmm! Finally tried this spot out. I've been saying I was going to come here for years and hubs brought me for a date night last weekend. All the staff were wonderful: from the initial greeting from the hostess, to someone filling our drinks, and our wonderful waitress who I believe was named Lauren. She was adorable, attentive, and very professional. She took excellent care of us. The menu is large with lots of options to please everyone - fish, steak, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, salads, apps, etc. We went with a wedge salad which was a good size and great portion. I chose the 8oz. tenderloin with risotto and cucumber salad and my husband got the French dip sandwich with fries. Everything was wonderful. My steak was to die for. I gobbled it up quickly and had a side of the peppercorn sauce for dipping that reminded me of a cheesy gravy. Their in-house large steak fries were delicious. Risotto was good and so was the generous portion of cucumber salad. Very light and fresh. We ended with coffee and the banana pudding mason jar. Super unimpressed with the banana pudding. It tasted old and kind'a like gelatin and the bananas were brown. I was grossed out. Wish I went with the chocolate torte or lava cake instead... next time. The decor inside is very nice - gave me classy speakeasy vibes. A beautiful and expansive bar area was also available and they have a great happy hour. Bathrooms were lovely and they have two areas for private parties and dinners. All in all - big hit. I loved it!

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week. Waiting for some friends so I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and a Caesar salad to start. Even though he just got slammed and was cleaning up, the bartender was really nice and helped me choose what to eat when we got sat at our table. I ordered the beef chili, crab dip, filet, and chocolate torte. I noticed everyone was getting bread. 3 other tables were brought bread but we had to ask for it while we were waiting for our salads/chili. The bread and chili were delicious. My friends ordered the pork belly which they also liked. Took a while for the crab dip to come out, but that was tasty too. Not a huge crab person but I did like it. After a very long wait, our meals came out. My steak size was so small. I wasn't the only one that noticed this. My steak was cooked how I liked it though. The béarnaise sauce was delicious. I also ordered a side of risotto which was the most disappointing dish of my night. Flavor 1/10 because it had none. Waitress didn't even asked if I liked it. You could clearly tell I pushed it to the side after 3 people tried it. My friend went to Hot Tuna the night before and said their risotto was 10x better. We waited a good 20 minutes after our plates were cleared before dessert arrived. The "cranberry cheesecake" that came out was about as thin as one of those cookie pies with icing. We joked they had to go buy it because it took so long to get our dessert. My torte was dry and cold and just absolutely awful. Not as bad as that risotto because at least this tasted like chocolate. Overall I love restaurant week because it's a great way to try a bunch of new places and dishes they offer. If I'm going to pay this much for a regular meal, the taste better match the price.

Yelp
The butcher's son is a nice steakhouse with a variety of options. I got the she crab soup to start, which had pretty good flavor, although it was way too thick. I'm not a big steak person, so I went with the scallops with green beans and spinach tomato risotto for my entree. The scallops were cooked well, but the risotto had big chunks of the veggies, which wasn't what I was expecting. Also everything was way too salty and very inconsistently seasoned. Some bites were fine and then others I could taste the salt crystals which was not pleasant. It was a good experience, but nothing that has me rushing to return.

Hector S.

Yelp
The Butcher's Son is an excellent option for a steakhouse in the area. The inside is a little dark and it appeared they had different rooms to host events. I enjoyed their butterfly effect, a spring seasonal cocktail, that had pear and pineapple juice and had a nice light purple color. The appetizers were okay as the calamari tasted like calamari and the French dipped egg rolls were okay with the winning part being the jalapeño glaze sauce. The sirloin steak was good but it wasn't cooked as I wanted but it didn't completely ruin the steak. The green beans were not seasoned consistently as I would get a super salty ones. The whipped potatoes were good and the risotto were good. All in all a decent steakhouse that serves good food but nothing to keep me dreaming about wanting more.

Yelp
I must say, the service has improved significantly since the first time I came to this restaurant. It was soon after they opened and they were likely still working out the kinks. Our server tonight was lovely. I don't remember her name but she was great. We were seated in a nice booth and the vibe was nice. Our food was cooked well and the presentation straight forward. Reservations are recommended. Parking is right out front. No complain

Dorothy K.

Yelp
Brunch was delicious I had the country fried steak, my husband had biscuits and gravy. I was sorry to find them not open last Sunday for brunch anymore.

Melissa L.

Yelp
The food was good but the service was not. My husband's food didn't come out with the rest of our party. We waited about 20 mins after everyone got their food to ask our server what happened and she told us someone dropped his plate in the kitchen and they were making a new one for him, we waited 20 more mins, still no food, we asked again and was told it was still being cooked so we asked for his food to be boxed up because our party was wrapping up and still waited about 20 more minutes for the food to finally come out. I try not to give negative reviews but I just think this situation was handled poorly and unprofessionally.

Yelp
Once again another fantastic experience at The Butcher's Son! If you are looking for an amazing steak dinner in Hampton Roads, look no further. Tonight we were seated at a booth in the bar area and had the pleasure of having Lizzie (one of the bartenders) serve us. Even with other tables and a busy bar, she was on point! We started with salads - 1/2 wedge for me (because if a wedge is on the menu, I am ordering it!) and a 1/2 Caesar for Hubby (because that is always his jam). Absolutely perfect as always. The blue cheese dressing is one of the best I've ever had, and Hubby has always used the Caesar dressing here as the benchmark for other places. Hubby loves the strip and I am a huge fan of the filet. And as always, they were cooked perfectly (rare for him and mid/rare for me). My asparagus was especially yummy with the perfect amount of light char taste. Hubby got mashed potatoes and potato wedges (don't judge - he's had quite the week at work). The only slight disappointment was my loaded baked potato. Lots of butter, sour cream, bacon and cheese, but the cheese was like a cheese sauce. It reminded me of that cheese sauce that gets dumped on cheese fries in a cheap burger joint. Again, just a slight disappointment, and certainly nothing to lose a star over. We did get dessert tonight - something we don't normally do, but again, it's been a heck of a week. Man are we glad we did! We ordered the creme brûlée and the banana pudding. The creme brûlée was on point and had a really nice sugar crust on it. But that banana pudding? Spectacular! The homemade whip on top? Just to die for. Found out they use marscapone - that just took it to another level, as well as the slices of fresh banana throughout. It's decadent, but still really light. All in all, this is the BEST place for a date night steak dinner in Hampton Roads. And, it is nowhere near the most expensive. Our bill with salads, desserts, 4 mixed drinks and a glass of wine came to $172. This one needs to be on your list of must go restaurants!

Yelp
Went here last night to celebrate my birthday a few days early! We booked our reservation online and headed to our table. The restaurant has large black curtains that help make the atmosphere very moody and dim. Our server let us know they both locations just had menu changes. The steaks only come two house sides and any premium side would be a la carte. She also stated that there would not be any substitutions to the sides for the signature dishes as well (unless there is an allergy). Makes sense to me! I ordered the Porch Swing Tea and it was delicious but, it not the strongest. My husband ordered Buffalo Trace on the rocks (surprised they even had this bourbon!) and my mom ordered a mocktail. We started with shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, and she crab soup. The sauce of the shrimp cocktail tasted like it already had horseradish in it and it was amazing! The Caesar was easily shared between our whole table. The she crab soup was lovely. Nice chunks of crab and make sure to dip your table bread in the soup. I ordered a medium rare 6oz tenderloin with whipped potatoes and asparagus with wild mushrooms and Parmesan peppercorn sauce added! The steak was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the Bone-in lamb chops with bernaise sauce. He cleaned up his plate!! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Yelp
The food scallops were pretty darn good .The steak and cake was mediocre. The steak bites were on the kids menu and they were good, a little salty. Lastly, the pasta. Honestly I disliked it a good amount. The server was very nice but the food took a long time. The place was really pretty and had great ambience, it was very romantic and relaxing.

Yelp
I made reservations about a month ago and the gentleman who helped me was fantastic. Had high hopes. Arrived about 20 minutes early for our 4:30 Thanksgiving dinner. Got seated pretty quickly and got a nice booth. Waitress comes over pretty soon, takes our drink and dinner order. Then chaos lol Drinks never come and was told our ticket was jammed so it never printed. Then our dinner comes out before our soup and salad. They finally bring out the apps and finally bring the drinks. The food was delicious, but the service was way off.

Yelp
So I went to the Chesapeake location last year and everything about it was mind blowing. The food the service the ambiance by far top 5 restaurants experiences I have ever had. So I had some expectations when we went to the Virginia Beach location for my birthday tonight and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Ambiance was fine but food and service were defiantly not up to par especially considering it cost almost 200 dollars. I don't remember the name of the cocktails but we both got one. Price was good but the drinks not so much. We got the pork belly for an appetizer. It wasn't bad but definitely not mind blowing like the last time. My wife got a sirloin with whipped potato's and asparagus and all of it was terrible. I would have been mad if we paid half the price for it at Texas Roadhouse. It just was not good. I got the prime rib with whipped potatoes and a Caesar salad. The salad came out with full stocks of lettuce. I literally had to use my steak knife to cut my salad to eat it. The prime rib and whipped potatoes were good but not on par with price. We then got a cookies and ice cream for desert. I will say presentation on this was great. They wrote happy birthday in chocolate sause on the plate and lit a candle. Presentation was above and beyond if only the taste matched the presentation. The ice cream had chunks of ice in it like there was too much water and not enough fat in it when they made it. The cookies tasted good but they overworked the flour I think, because they were tough to chew. Lastly service. We were here with our 15 month old daughter who was a little fussy. When the waitress first took our drink orders I asked if we could get bread right away for our daughter to occupy her. She took 10-15 minutes to bring it. And the taking way to much time to come, persisted thought the night. At the end, after 2 hours and some change our daughter had had enough so my wife took here out side and I waited at the table for 15 minutes before the waitress took my card to pay. Like come on. I'm waiting alone on my birthday for you to take the check from me so I can pay you and you are taking forever.

Morgan M.

Yelp
Amazing food, drinks, service and atmosphere. I love coming here for date nights or special events. It's a must try!

Jill B.

Yelp
Great food and service. I sat at the bar and ordered some appetizers and drinks. The prime rib egg rolls are amazing!! Also if you are looking for the best Martini ever then this is the place to go. My bartender Lizzy was on point with service and personality.

Courtney C.

Yelp
Kid friendly and a nice place to take the family . Food is really good and dessert is even better . The service is excellent as well.

Megan Marie M.

Yelp
My boyfriend reserved us a table to celebrate my birthday, sadly the experience was upsetting. We both ordered the she crab soup to start with and they arrived at our table cold and very salty. We asked our server if they can kindly make it again; our entrees came and the soup never made it back to our table. We followed-up our server and she told us that she misunderstood what I said, but that "It's gonna be the same batch of soup anyways." I was really looking forward to the she crab soup since it's one of my favorites, but the lack of effort made me not want to come back here anymore nor recommend it to my friends. To be fair though, the sirloin and steak and cake (minus the burnt asparagus) were good. One may say it's just soup, I guess I just expected too much from this restaurant.

Margaret S.

Yelp
We came for my birthday. We always do birthdays here and find the food very good. I had steak and crab cake. It was very good. Too full for dessert. Excellent service and just love this restaurant.

Diana A.

Yelp
Food was decent. Out of all the items ordered, the french dip egg rolls, and Seafood Mac and Cheese were the best. We went for New Year's Eve so wait times were horrible even with a reservation. The staff were friendly. They were definitely short staffed. The time in between drinks, appetizers, and entrees were long. That was the biggest down fall since we waited a good 20 min to receive the bread and butter, and place our initial drink order once we were seated. The restaurant had an upscale feel to it, lots of mood lighting. I had great expectations for this restaurant as I had heard great things about it, but considering how much we paid for this dinner, it was not worth it.

Yelp
Since moving to Virginia Beach, we've been to Butcher's Son on Laskin Rd in VB quite a few times. Great food usually, but we've visited for the last time after last night's experience. Family came into town for the holidays. We've bragged about the food to them for a few years, but were unsure about the quality of their service after a couple of questionable incidents. In the past, I had an encounter with a manager over the size of my Filet. Ordered an 8 oz, they delivered a 4 oz, and rather than making it right, the manager proceeded to argue with me that it was the correct size. She was so SURE that she brought out a scale. Imagine her surprise when the scale showed a 4 oz Filet. Apparently the customer isn't always right at Butcher's Son? Other past experiences include showing up without a reservation and being told we'd need one even though there were numerous empty tables. Learned our lesson. Made a reservation, only to be seated in the bar and then told that we didn't specify that we wanted to be seated in the main dining area. Ok. Again another lesson learned. Next time I requested seating in the main dining room. Taken to a table even though a booth was open. Asked to be seated in the booth, and nope. Have to request that as well! So back to last night. Ordered 3 Whiskey Sours at the bar. Wanted them made the "correct" way with frothed egg white. Imagine my surprise when the cost was $63. And served in a micro martini glass? I've had Whiskey Sours all over the United States and I've never seen such a blatant money grab. Seated at a table in the main dining room. Ordered seafood nachos that we've had many, many times. It's usually layered in seafood and the "sauce" is She Crab soup. Not last night. Covered with Tapatio hot sauce and very little seafood. Ok. Rolling with the punches. We order dinner and son ordered an 8 oz Filet. Wife ordered a 6 oz. You guessed it! Same size. And apparently Med Rare is very rare to the cooks. On to the final bill. Almost $400 for the 6 of us. Not surprised. Want to use a $116 dollar Visa Gift Card and put the rest on my card. Explain this to the waitress. She says no problem. She returns 10 mins later and said they couldn't authorize the card for that amount. They were only able to charge it $30 and $50. Pay the rest of the bill with my credit card. Imagine my surprise when I check the Visa Gift Card balance later and see that there are 2 charges from Butcher's Son. One for $60 and one for $36. So basically they manipulated the gift card for their benefit. Unfortunately we've decided to cross The Butcher's Son off our list of "must visits" while friends/family are in town. They've grown overly confident in their product and can't really be trusted to deliver great food or quality service.

Nina D.

Yelp
I've been here several times. Before and after pandemic. I really miss the brunch Buffett they used to have with the carving station. Food is still great. Loved the Rockefeller's, Brussels, and my drink the most. The calamari portion seemed a bit small but doable for two people. Service was fantastic and super friendly. Loved the decor and extra room for large parties.

Rachel C.

Yelp
The food was fantastic- all 3 in our party were pleased with the dishes ordered. I had the shrimp cocktail, She Crab Soup and a baked potato. All were delicious! They also have many local beers on tap as an option. The restaurant was super clean, super friendly atmosphere and the waitstaff was friendly. I definitely recommend trying them out of you haven't already!

April A.

Yelp
Really enjoyed ourselves here tonight! My boyfriend made 5pm reservations for my birthday and we were blown away! It lived up to the hype. Our server, Amanda was great, efficient and friendly. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. We got the french dip egg rolls to start. The jam on the side was a nice touch! I got the 16 oz ribeye with brussels (fried with bacon!!) and asparagus, the steak was perfectly cooked and very well seasoned. My boyfriend got the 14oz NY strip with a loaded baked potato and mac and cheese. I stole a bite of the mac and cheese and it was so so good!! :) Everything was perfect!!

Jeffery W.

Yelp
Decent place. Nice atmosphere. Limited menu. Great service. Overpriced in my opinion, but overall a good experience.

Anthony M.

Yelp
I took my parents to The Butcher's Son for brunch on Sunday. The brunch was $20 per person and it was all you can eat buffet. They had a station where someone will make you an omelet and another station where they cut ham or Sirloin. They had good selection of food to chose from the buffet. The food was amazing, the place was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Malory G.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience for dinner this past Saturday night. The restaurant is cozy & classy, with the perfect ambiance for a date night or special dinner. Our server was extremely attentive & engaging. But the food was the star of the show! We all ordered steaks with varying sides, and we all ate every bite of the delicious meal. My personal favorite were the brussel sprouts, which I added as a premium side to my meal. I also recommend the Christina Hendricks cocktail for any gin lovers! Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures this time, but I will get some next time as I am sure it won't be our only visit.

Bobby D.

Yelp
The Prime Rib was outstanding. The sides was to die for. The apps were out of this world.

Paul M.

Yelp
I don't know what to say about this place. We have been here 2 times. The 1st wasn't bad it wasn't great. But this time wow. I won't go into detail about it but let's just say it was busy, but for this place they should have been better service all the way around was slow. Hoping it's was new staff but still didn't know the menu. Food undercooked or cold. Very inattentive and just not worth it. I will say at the end with out me saying anything they took care of it but it was just....... Sad, Funny! All the way around. This was our daughters birthday and we told them that when the reservation was made and to watch them do a birthday for someone else was a little sad. Fish cold and uncooked. Steak cold or overcooked at least our daughter's steak was good.

Alvin M.

Yelp
Last night, we went to The Butcher's Son to celebrate a birthday, but the experience turned into a disaster. We were seated much later than another party we knew, despite them having a bigger group. As the kids were getting hungry, we ordered appetizers and kids' meals. Unfortunately, the kitchen faced issues with gas and AC, making it impossible to take more orders. We hoped the problems would resolve, but it only got hotter inside due to the 100-degree heat index outdoors. Despite knowing about the birthday celebration, the restaurant's response was disappointing, just closing our bill without any meal service. We had to scramble to find another place for the celebration, which was challenging during peak beach season. The manager didn't communicate with us or offer an apology. The lack of consideration led us Taco Bell for the kids, and I had to stick to a liquid diet. It's almost impossible to get a reservation elsewhere on a Saturday night during peak season. The Butcher's Son should have prioritized the customer experience better and showed consistency in compensating guests. It's a missed opportunity on their part, and unfortunately, they failed to make things right.

Nancy H.

Yelp
If I could give 4.5 stars, I would, but since that's not possible, it leaned just a little closer to 4 for this experience. We came in on a reservation and we're sat right away at a lovely table. Our server was very nice, but sadly didn't catch her name. Atmosphere is great; gives that nice steakhouse feel with high end finishes and a dark room. It was on the quiet side and very comfortable. We decided against cocktails for this meal and stuck with water. For appetizers; we shared the She Crab Soup and the Wedge Salad for the table of 4 and it was a great start to the meal. The wedge was awesome; just a little flare added to a traditional wedge. We liked the addition of balsamic glaze. The She Crab Soup was very flavorful, but sadly served luke warm. We used it mostly as a vessel for the bread, so it was okay, but definitely would have been better hot. Entrees; at the table we got a prime rib, a ribeye, a lamb chop entree and one of the filet specials of the night. Our favorites were the rack of lamb and the ribeye. They were both cooked to perfection, super flavorful and perfectly tender. Honestly, they couldn't have been prepared any better. The prime rib was less impressive; not served hot and definitely closer to medium/med well than the requested medium rare. It was however, tender, and the horseradish sauce served alongside it was lovely. The filet special was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was inedible. It was the first meal we have sent back in ages, but the server and chef fixed it for us promptly and delivered a meal that we loved in the end. We applaud and thank them for the quick fix. The filet ended up being just as delicious as the ribeye once the sauce was removed. Let's talk sides and sauces. Their parmesan peppercorn sauce is impeccable. So flavorful and creamy. We went through every drop. For sides, their mac and cheese was wonderful, along with the fried Brussels. The asparagus was also great! In the future, I would probably pass on the creamed spinach, as it was pretty soupy. Overall, we really did enjoy our meal and know exactly what to get next time!

Yelp
Holy YUM! The Butcher's Son totally exceeded our expectations. We decided to go to The Butcher's Son on a whim when a sudden steak craving overcame us. Because it was around 9PM on a Saturday night, we were immediately sat. But definitely make a reservation if you're planning a visit! The atmosphere has a dimly lit, upscale feel-- break out your fancy jeans! My husband and I were sat at a pretty big table for the two of us, and our server came right over. Drink prices were a little steep ($14 for a High Noon seltzer), but we thought the food was fairly priced. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, and for our entrees we both got sirloins (6oz for me, 10oz for my husband) with baked potatoes and vegetables for our sides. You also get to choose a sauce to come on the side for your steak, so we chose Parmesan Peppercorn and Jalapeño Bacon Jam. We also requested a basket of bread because why not! The Oyster Rockefeller was DELICIOUS. We actually agreed that they were the best Oyster Rocks we've ever had! Great sized oysters and they didn't skimp on the toppings. The star of the show though were the steaks!! They were tender, perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of salt. And that Parmesan Peppercorn sauce... afterwards I made my husband find a recipe online that we now make with our steaks, it was THAT good! The baked potatoes were *chef kiss*. As you can see from the picture, it was so cheesy! I got mine without sour cream, but they come "all the way". Towards the end, our server became less attentive and we were disappointed we weren't able to order more drinks since she would go without checking on us for long stretches at a time. But I'm still giving Butcher's Son 5/5 stars because the food alone deserves it. For our entire meal, we ended up paying about $120 (before tip) but a little less than half of that was for our drinks (again, drinks are expensive). For the quality of the food, the prices are a steal. We will DEFINITELY be back!!

Yelp
Ruined the best brunch deal in the whole 757 with the new menu. I miss the $15 filet, eggs and naan. Now $22 for a smaller piece of sirloin and eggs (and toast instead of naan). (I'm fine with higher prices the quality dropped!).

Yelp
This was a very nice dining experience. Need to add another dollar sign to "pricey." The food was very good and wait staff were nice. In a party of 4, 2 main dishes came out and sat getting cold while waiting for quite a while for the other 2 dishes. It was noticeable and that is a timing issue.

Yelp
We have been here a serveral times. The first time was for New Year's Eve dinner with friends. Food and service was outstanding. We came back for an anniversary dinner a few weeks later and while service was outstanding, food was good, not outstanding. We then had brunch here twice, the first time the food was outstanding but the service was not good - we had to wait a very long time for placing an order, getting drinks, getting our food but the food was so delicious! The second time for brunch, the food was just ok, I ordered the same dish. The chicken in the chicken and waffles was so dry and the waffles were soggy. I would definitley order the fruit - they give you a generous service. The ambiance is a little formal but can be very casual. So, it is. a bit inconsistent with food and service so hopefully that will improve overall.

Yelp
Most excellent pairings of fantastic bourbon and amazing five-course meal! Great background and history of the distillery and each featured bourbon by the Buffalo Trace representative. Kudos to the Butcher's Son team on terrific event - from reservation to warm welcome to first cocktail to prep and presentation of the courses and everything in between! Looking forward to next event!

Yelp
Loved it! The GM John was the best giving me a birthday drink! My boyfriend and I got a great spot in the restaurant, wasn't too loud and got to recount with an old friend at the same time. Would recommend highly for a nice date night spot.

Yelp
Made reservations for a family dinner and got our table once we arrived. Our server was super friendly and attentive. We ordered apps - calamari, French dip spring rolls, and pork belly. A few of us at the table also ordered she crab soup and it was very good. Lots of chunks of crab in the soup. For my entree I ordered the rib eye and it came with two sides. The steak was cooked to perfection - medium rare. It was tender and juicy. My husband got a fish dish and that was good as well. We also ordered dessert crème brûlée and coffee to end the night. We want to come back and try brunch and come back for dinner again some time. Great restaurant!

Yelp
Disappointing Mothers Day Brunch. Have had reservations for Mothers Day Brunch there for a month. Arrived 5 minutes before our scheduled time but weren't seated for 28 minutes past our reservation time. Prior to our reservation my wife had been perusing the brunch menu, which while extremely limited, looked really good. She was especially looking forward to trying the Brunch charcuterie board. Which, had an eclectic array of culinary delights and sounded extremely tasty. When finally seated we immediately ordered this with our drinks but were told they were out of it. This is brunch, Mothers Day Brunch to be precise and you were doing reservations. I'm very familiar with running projects and teams as well as planning resources for said projects and teams to succeed. I'm at a loss as to how you run out of any of the items required to make the one item that is listed as the focal point on your brunch menu. This disappointment set the tone for the rest of the meal. There were no other "starters" offered on the menu in lieu of the missing charcuterie board so what we had planned on being a more leisurely Mother's Day brunch was abruptly shortened by the need to immediately order entrees. Food was good overall, two of us had the burritos, these came out missing bacon but side plates of bacon were offered once server was notified. A couple had the she crab soup, it was a bit too salty but taste was pleasant. Chicken and waffles were really good. Pancakes were dry. Bloody Mary's were on point. Ultimately what could've been a great Mother's Day experience wasn't that great. Josh, our server was the bright spot of the experience. He handled the issues that the rest of the establishment were having with seating/bussing tables in a timely manner as well as inadequately stocked kitchens like a star. He was immensely apologetic to us and the other tables near us that were having the same issues and questions. If you have a menu for a special day, ensure your reservations/guest numbers you are accepting are commensurate with the food you have available. You shouldn't have to wait nearly thirty minutes past your reservation time and you shouldn't have to find alternative choices on the menu because the restaurant has run out. Wouldn't risk coming here for brunch again if you are wanting something specific off the menu. The Butcher's Son under delivered on Mothers Day. I hope the Butchers son takes better care of his own mother on her day.

Yelp
I understand covid-19 ended the breakfast brunch buffet. I miss it. Please add the fish bites to the brunch menu. They were sooo good!!! But anyhoo enough of the past. Today I was a guest of a birthday brunch they pre-ordered a charcuterie board and it was nothing short of amazing!!! The bacon and the sausage on it was soo good. Just needed more. Being that i was apart of a large party we had a limited menu. Which sucked because i wanted something different. Everyone enjoyed their food. I just have one small request. Please keep in mind some people have food restrictions and can't eat a lot of sweet items, breads, and fried dishes. Can you please offer sugar free syrup. Also have the syrup on the side instead of having it drenched on the food so the patron can control how much they're consuming. The waitress staff was very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
A truly indulgent steakhouse that's not named Ruth's Chris or Texas Roadhouse! I recently celebrated my birthday and I wanted a steak. I have always heard about The Butchers Son and decided to check them out. I was not disappointed. We brought a toddler with us and luckily, they had a children's menu. We waited a little while at dinner hours since we didn't have a reservation but I was a little confused as there were plenty of tables open. I highly recommend making a reservation so you don't have to wait unnecessarily. We ordered the tomahawk ribeye (birthday treat) and the chicken sandwich. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive so no complaints there. We also ordered a cheese pizza for my son. The cheese pizza didn't come out on time and they decided to comp it for us. My tomahawk ribeye came out perfectly cooked at medium rare and seasoned well. It was a delicious steak and satisfied my birthday cravings. The chicken sandwich was good as well but nothing spectacular. Besides, we are at a steakhouse so chicken may not be the best . I also received a birthday dessert for free and got the banana pudding which was a sweet ending to a beefy meal. Highly recommend this place for great steaks or just to indulge once in a while!

Yelp
We have eaten here in person and ordered take out several times. I've also been in food service on and off for a decade. With that said, very disappointed with our most recent take out order. The sauce for the spring rolls we ordered was not included. The au jus for the cheesesteak we ordered was not included. Our food was cold overall and our wedge salad tasted funky. Again, all things we have had several times. Very disappointed. It seems they are not checking the orders as they are being bagged up to make sure everything is included. We will probably take a break from here for awhile. Especially for the prices that kind of oversight is inexcusable.

Yelp
The ambiance was nice and relaxing and my drink at the bar was really good. The food took a little time to get to our party but it was understandable due to it being very busy but when we did get our food it was good. Our waitress was nice and attentive.

Yelp
Compliments to the chef always delivering a great meal. I know it's a steak house but I always get fish with veggies. Their Brussels sprouts to die for, the wine list is great and the service is beyond what I expected... table 51 is a cozy table for two and I love it...

Yelp
We have eaten at the Butchers Son several times before and the food and service was very good We made reservations for New Years Eve. They put a small table in the corner next to the kitchen and restroom access where a table should not be. The food was ok but the service was bad. We had to wave down a waiter to get service. They even ran out of vodka. For $200 for two people, I expected more. I have never written a bad review but I felt compelled to do so because it was not a good experience.

Yelp
They clearly don't know how to serve a hot steak ... for almost 75.00 dollar one should get a hot steak! It was served warm..... I could have sent it back but decided not to as to not over cook it. I should have done that. It was great that the restaurant manager cared enough to come by and apologize for their mistake. That never happened !! If you want a good steak ,,, don't come here !

Yelp
Everything was great. Perfect prime rib with loaded baked potato and asparagus. Good service. Will return for the lamb chop! Highly recommended. Nice masculine atmosphere. Thanks for a wonderful birthday dinner.

Yelp
Don't even contemplate and just go! Their food is amaaaazing!!! From the Rockefeller oysters, to the perfectly cooked bone in pork to the cowboy bone in rib-eye that was the size of my head. The food is such high quality where you don't even need any sauces or glazed to elevate the dish. It was so delicious I can't say enough good things about this place. Definitely give it a try, I would highly recommend it. Our server Janine was so nice, had a beautiful smile on the whole time (even though they were busy), and she was very attentive. Overall had an amazing experience I would highly highly recommend butchers son!

Yelp
Great steakhouse in VB. Ambiance is a combination of a modernized version of a classic, old school steakhouse, Steaks and sides are fantastic and the staff is friendly and helpful. I've been there multiple times and it's always a great experience.
