We booked The Butter End for our wedding and we (along with all of our guests) loved the cake. Kim and her staff were so delightful and easy to work with from start to finish. We also scheduled a cake tasting in which I got to try TEN different flavors of cake, all of which were absolutely delicious. I even got to bring some back home for my mom and fiance to try out. We ended up choosing two flavors, banana bread and almond, both of which were a hit with our wedding guests. Kim and her team also perfectly captured the decorations for our cake - we wanted pressed flowers that aligned with the theme and vision for the rest of our wedding and it turned out to really beautiful. We will have to come back to celebrate our anniversary and order cake in our wedding flavors because we loved it that much.

We were also very happy to have mini figures of our dogs made for our cake! The price is very reasonable and the team did a wonderful job.

I recently hosted my Mom’s 80th Birthday, and all she requested was a carrot cake. Naturally, the first place that came to mind was The Butter End, and Kim’s famous, and MOST delicious carrot cake! I didn’t have much inspiration, but after a short and meaningful conversation, they were able to completely personify my mom in cake! Bright, beautiful and classic. I think my review didn't go through. I ordered a birthday cake and literally, it was 90% cream. I felt so embarrassed sharing the cake with my friends. Just the outside looked okay. I'm just saying this so the baker considers baking real cakes

Thank you to the Butter End for making me the most beautiful and delicious cake for my wedding! Will post pics when I get them but it was so elegant and most of all delicious! We went with the chocolate, chocolate chip cake with vanilla bean buttercream and the lemon sour cream cake with sweet lemon buttercream! Soooo good! Cannot wait for our one year anniversary to get more cake!! Favorite part was obviously the cake tasting! It was so hard to pick just 2 as they were all actually yummy.

I've been getting cakes from The Butter End for about 7 years now but this last one blew me away! We were going for a Cars theme but wanted something different from what we were seeing for your typical 2 year old parties. I had my initial conversation with Jess and then went through a few sketches with Kim. Although Kim is very passionate about her designs she was very open to my ideas. I equally had to trust her professional judgment. The cake turned out amazing and was very tasty (you usually don't get both)! The cake did come at premium AKA not cheap but if you have the budget I would highly highly recommend.

We got our wedding cake from here for our wedding on 8/20/2022. I didn't have any idea what I wanted, so I coordinated with Jess over the phone and via email our colors and that we were kindof doing a beach theme, and she sent over a design that looked great. They knocked it out of the park! The cake was stunning, and this was definitely the best vanilla bean cake I've ever had. We were so happy with our cake, and I'm already looking forward to ordering a small copy on our first year anniversary. Thanks so much!

The cake was the highlight of the party!! I ordered a college graduation cake for my daughter and Kimberly came up with the best design!! The look on my daughter's face when she saw the cake was priceless!! Best thing is it looks amazing and it was delicious!! Thank you Kimberly!!

We used The Butter End Cakery as our wedding cake vendor for the wedding that we had recently at The London Hotel in West Hollywood. We used this vendor as it was recommended by our hotel and a preferred vendor. My wife and I found the cake to be a bit dry and heavy. It wasn't quite to our liking or personal tastes. On the positive side, the cake did look really nice. Overall, not great and not horrible.

I hired the Butter End for my wedding cake and the results were amazing. I wanted simple clean and elegant and Kimberly sketched out exactly was I was envisioning. The communication and customer service was on point. We had a 100 person cake for 70 people and every last bite was gone. I will be using them for all my cake needs in the future.

I cannot express enough how AMAZING the cake I ordered for a client came out! Kimberly and her staff knocked it out of the ballpark! Gorgeous cake and delicious too. The creativity was so impressive. I gave very little inspiration and let them do whatever they thought and it was more than I could ask for. Thanks to The Butter End, my clients are very happy and I will be ordering again.

We had the best experience with The Butter End! My contact was Jess and she was amazing to work with. She was attentive to the details, made sure she completely understood what we were wanting, and when we took awhile to get back with her about confirming, she reached out to make sure we were wanting to book or not before she booked someone else. They dropped off the cake at the venue with no problems at all, and checked on us and made sure it was exactly what we had ordered. It made our wedding experience much easier to not have to be concerned about the cake. The service was great and the cake tasted amazing! It was so beautiful and most times it's hard to find taste and look in the same business. But again, she got us the flavors we wanted and went above and behind to style it how we wanted. And the price was very reasonable as well! Overall, we had a great experience and would use The Butter End over and over again.

My wedding cake was really bad. I chose Butter End based partially on the rave reviews. They completely changed the style and omitted key elements and colors we agreed upon. Instead, I received blobby buttercream flowers with squiggly green lines. I almost turned the cake around at the reception. I reached out to Butter End and I received a "Sorry we missed the mark in your eyes". No... the cake I received resembled nothing like what I had asked for. I have no idea how they messed so badly and I'm equally confused by the glowing reviews. I wasn't going to post a negative review but their response was dismissive and took no responsibility. If I could go back in time, choosing Butter End is the only thing I would change on my wedding day. I know it's just cake but it was so ugly and nothing like what I had asked for.

It has been 10 years since our wedding and I am still getting comments about how amazingly beautiful and delicious our wedding cake was. It was a 3 tiered small beautiful and delicious hand painted cake with flowers painted in black. Each of our 90 guests received his/her own individual sized hand painted replica of the larger cake. Because the cakes were hand painted, each cake was slightly different from the other, each a true work of art. If you are looking for something truly special in a cake, no matter the occasion, the Butter End is the place to go. Kimberly is not only extremely creative but also a pleasure with whom to work.

Best wedding cake ever !!! Beautiful studio for cake tastings , had a nice spread of all cake options , water and champagne . I couldn't have been happier All the flavors were actually really good . We went with the carrot cake and the banana chocolate chip cake We had a guest count of 171 at Calamigos Ranch 3/31/19 and our final cake looked beautiful we couldn't have been any happier . Because of the size of our cake we had issues with finding a right cake stand . Luckily they rent them out . They also had extra sheets of cake to cut from first instead of going right into our cake . Hire with confidence as you won't be disappointed. High five and 5 stars all the way . Thank you soooooo much I am beyond happy from such a great stellar result

I'm so glad to have ordered our wedding cake from The Butter End Cakery! We did tons of research on wedding cakes, and we instantly knew that this would be the perfect place once we had our tasting. The cake tasted so amazing! It wasn't dry or too sweet or anything. It was important to us that both the taste and the presentation needed to be great and we were not disappointed at all. The cake looked so so pretty! I initially had other designs for the cake in my mind but they helped guide me on the right path on choosing the perfect wedding cake design that was unique, elegant, modern, timeless, and stunning!! Kimberly and the staff were super nice and responsive. I had a great time communicating with them throughout the entire process! :)

I paid $2,300 for this presentation. Tastes good, but very sloppy presentation. I expected perfection at the price I was charged. Very disappointed and not impressed . The owner called me and explained her theory of the cake sloppiness. I gave her plenty opportunities to explain as we went back and forth over the phone. She blamed the florist which she didn't make any strong attempts to reach out and communicate with. I politely suggested to her that she might want to express her expectations from the florists in the future as anything they do to the cake is a reflection of her business. She then insulted me and my family by saying we should have hired a wedding planner to oversee these obstacles in a wedding. At that point she made the mistake of blaming me, the customer. Big mistake. She complained of me hanging up....of course I will hang up on her as she is so immature to blame me and my family for her carelessness.....then cries about it on Yelp. I had done business with a very selfish woman. I regret giving her a 2 star. This business is hardly a one star. I did my part and paid what she asked. She didn't even come close to delivering what I paid. I was robbed of this beautiful day for my sister-in-laws wedding ....and was not compensated a dime for the outcome. The most horrible business experience I have ever had. I beg anyone who sees the business on yelp to turn around before it's too late. Disturbing experience.

Incredible service and attention to detail- I worked with Kim directly and articulated a vision for 2 birthday cakes. She was able to take the thoughts right out of my head and sent over a sketch draft of the cakes the next day that were perfect. Visually, the cakes were stunning and came out better than I imagined. Beyond the creative design and artwork itself, the cakes were delicious. Kim took the time to make sure every detail down to the icing, batter and toppings met my expectations AND tasted great too. Oh my great buttery goodness, this place is the absolute best. I really didn't know what to expect when looking around for Wedding Cakes, and I just so happened to stumble across The Butter End on one of those 'Top 10' lists on the internet. I was quite impressed by their cakes, made an appointment, and met Kimberly who is the most down-to-Earth woman you can meet. Seeing as how I didn't know what to look for a wedding cake, it sorta transferred to the vision of the cake. My (now) Husband and I had a vague idea of something "vaudeville," something that would bring those beautiful 20th Century French Posters to life. We essentially gave her free reign to play around with this theme, and the result literally blew every single person at my wedding away. The wedding cake was a vision of Midnight Blue, with a fiery french dancer gracefully placed in the front, golden grapes and leaves strategically placed to bring the cake to life. It's completely changed my perspective of what one can do with Wedding Cakes. I can't recommend this place enough. They do incredible work, and you can tell how much love is put into their cakes. Thank you all so much for the memories!

From the moment we sat down with Kimberly for a cake tasting for our wedding, we had a great connection. She was incredibly friendly and open and excited to work with us. She even captured the attention of our 10 yr old, sharing her drawing utensils and including her in every step of the process. The cakes all tasted AMAZING so it was really hard to pick what we wanted to go with from a flavor perspective. Ultimately we settled on Chocolate Almond Cherry along with the Almond for the cake and then we supplemented with mini-cupcakes in a bunch of flavors. Everyone RAVED about the cake and the cupcakes. The father of the groom even declared it was the best cake he ever had, and he is not prone to hyperbole, not to mention incredibly hard to please. One big reason we went with this bakery, is the incredible hand-made custom designs that are available. Kimberly made us the most beautiful sugar flowers creating a simple, but elegant wedding cake. Once we chose to go with Butter End Cakery, our expectations were sky high. In the end, they surpassed them in every way.

I am beyond grateful that Kimberly was able to make my baby girls birthday dream come true with her beautiful Sleeping Beauty cake! All my daughter wished for was to have the cake Aurora's Fairy Godmothers made her for her birthday and her wish came true ! The cake was absolutely beautiful ! Better than I could have ever imagined ! And it tasted amazing ! I was shocked at how moist the cake was, so so so good!! I know this is late (Its been 2 years) but They are amazing. I was looking for a bakery and my brides made found this place while driving around. They don't do drive ins but Kimberly and her assistant were so kind to invite us in. I was lucky enough to have them make my cake for my wedding because they were booked. The cakes were so delicious and gluten free They did my wedding cake and my baby shower cake. I nolonger live in LA but If I am going to do another event in the area, I will definitely use them again.

What a beautiful end product! The Butter End has an amazing reputation. When we were planning our wedding in LA, we knew we wanted to have them design our cake. We set up an appointment and went and did a tasting. We dealt with Sara via phone/email and she was delightful. They are tucked away in a little shop that is hard to see from the main avenue, but once inside their shop its such a fun experience. They had a some amazing flavor to choose from. The tasting was very professional and it was so great to see some of the cakes they had on display. After selecting our cake flavor, we then dealt with the cake artist (believe it was Kimberly). While she turned out an amazing product (see yelp review for photo of our cake), she was not the most pleasant person to deal with while discussing the design of our wedding cake (seemed aloof, unexcited, and haughty... weirdly kept mentioning how lucky we were to have booked them) . Regardless, the finished product was incredible and the proof is in the pictures.

We chose the Butter End Cakery for our wedding and I am so glad we did! Our cake was the most delicious cake I've ever had, our guests are still raving about it!

The cake was delicious. But the design was disappointing. Knowing what Jordan V had ordered, I felt badly for the couple when I saw the cake. It was not on the level of class and sophistication of the entire rest of the wedding. I reviewed every cake on your site in an effort to figure out what happened. It appears only one of your cakes has frosting flowers. All the rest are either real or paper flowers. I think the basic issue is that you oversold yourself. You do not have the necessary skill set to do beautiful frosting flowers, a basic, rudimentary, traditional aspect of cake decorating. 5 on taste. 1 on design. Average 3 stars.

4.5 stars. Process from ordering to the design phase to the event itself was pretty easy. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I ordered a cake for my son's 3rd birthday party and they suggested the chocolate chocolate chip with vanilla buttercream, which was delicious (albeit really sweet!). The design was perfect as well (I asked to match my son's invitations). The only negatives were (which account for the half-star deduction): - they said they didn't put their cakes in boxes, which I wasn't made aware of. They improvised when my friend picked the cake up by herself but they used a random carton box and not a white cake box. I'm not sure if my theory is correct but i think the carton may have affected the outer cake layer. I know they don't use fondant and reviews say they use chocolate, but I couldn't eat the outer layer due to the taste (which tasted like carton/newspaper). - as with all cake places, they overestimate the amount of cake you will need so make sure you take this into account. Every year, I have ordered my son's cakes from different bakeries and every year, I am left with a huge amount of cake. People don't really eat large slices of cake (really more like a sliver), so this year, for 30 people, the two-tier cake was just overboard. We basically ate just the top tier (and a teeny portion of the bottom layer). I gave 3/4 of the bottom layer to my nanny and we still have some leftover three days after the party. Next time, I will order by size and not by number of people. Despite the two negatives described, this was still a really good experience for me and I would recommend them to everyone.

This company is beyond exceptional. I am gluten free and vegan and I can not stress enough on how delicious and moist their chocolate chip cookies are. I would highly recommend ordering any custom desert/cake from The Butter End Cakery. Thank you Kimberly for always being so attentive to your clients and such a pleasure to work with!

After having the Butter End create a spectacular cake for my wedding, all other cakes seem like a beat up Hyundai next to a Tesla. I had multiple people tell me it was the best wedding cake they ever had. The flavors are unique (coconut passion fruit, chocolate cherry walnut, lemon blueberry) and not your standard bland flavors you see on most cakes. I can not stand frosting that is cloyingly sweet or a gloopy mess. Kimberly's frosting is light and exquisite, perfectly accompanying the fluffy cake. Basically, if you like heavy, dense, overly sugary, boring cakes that you can find at your local supermarket - these cakes are not for you. If you appreciate cake that is thoughtfully composed, elegant, and delightful - this is for you!

My hubby searched fairly extensively for a good cake shop before we turned up at The Butter End for our wedding cake. He specifically wanted a 'naked cake' (the hubby hates fondant), and it was difficult to find a bakery that could comfortably do a four tiered version (to feed 150 guests). The Butter End isn't cheap, but it actually wasn't expensive compared to other cake shops, many of whom stated that they would charge a premium per slice for a naked cake style. We described what we were looking for, and it came out even more stunning than we had imagined! And the cake was absolutely delicious! The only very minor hiccup we encountered had to do with LA's real estate climate--we had initially booked our cake when the shop was housed in SaMo, and when we went a few months later (1.5 months before our wedding date) to make our final deposit, the space had been vacated. I almost had a panic attack. Several frantic calls later, it turned out that the store had lost its lease and was in the process of purchasing a new location (now in Gardena). Although they didn't have a permanent location at the time, Sara reassured us that our order was secure and they were working on it. Kimberly also personally called us to apologize for the communication error, the final coordination was all done electronically, and it all came through. Sara was also very proactive in asking us for contact info for our florist (who worked on the flowers accompanying the cake) as well as our venue and day-of-coordinator contacts. She was so easy to work with, and it was great to have someone who actually was very organized and on top of everything. Thank you Butter End for an amazing cake!

I had a fantastic experience from start to finish with The Butter End planning my 40th birthday cake! I have long wanted to order from Kimberly and her team, and it exceeded my expectations. Great, open, and responsive communication about what I was looking for and adjustments I wanted to make throughout the process. Smooth and easy delivery. Great food and delicious cake were priorities for my reception and The Butter Ends' carrot cake nailed it! It was a hit with all of my family and friends who consider themselves cake connoisseurs. In the design phase Kimberly was friendly, artistic and incredibly helpful. I will definitely be using The Butter End for other life events to come!

Such a pleasure working with A Butter End this past weekend. As a wedding coordinator, I work with a lot of vendors and they were top notch. The cake was gorgeous and tasted amazing!! Highly recommend!!

The most amazing cake ....Kimberly is amazing. My son and his bride were married in Chenai, India in February 2012 in an awesome traditional Hindu ceremony. We wanted to create the same atmosphere of love and unity as the East met the West. I sent Kimberly pictures of the wedding in India and after a few emails, my mom and I went to visit Kimberly in Santa Monica for a cake tasting. The cake tasting was fun, organized and delicious...the carrot cake was a WOW! The she took all of our thoughts and ideas and sketched a design; it was perfect. When the cake arrived at the venue, it was breathtakingly beautiful. One of our guest said, "it looks like a sunset" and our guest on skypeconference in India said, "it was the icing on the cake" literally. Kimberly is a wonderful artist. She hand sculpted a Genasha on the top of the cake out of modeling chocolate. It is amazing and will last for years to come. Then we cut the cake and WOW! The rolled chocolate was really good. That's right NO FONDIT.....the bottom layer was to die for carrot cake and the top was rich and yummy chocolate chip chocolate. Something for everyone. It is a good thing we ordered a back up 9" carrot cake. We did not have any cake left. Several people came back for seconds and took cake home. I have already put in a request for another cake in April of 2013, just working on my theme...Red velvet is the next flavor.... Thank you Kimberly and everyone at THE BUTTER END.

Our wedding cake from The Butter End was astonished! We found them through the preferred vendor lists from our wedding venue, Shutters on the beach. We visited 4 vendors on the list and ended up with the Butter End because we felt only them could provide a perfect balance between taste and aesthetics after seeing every vendor's past works. We were so glad that we made this right choice! Although we already had cake design in our mind, our cake still turned out to be so much more beautiful than we could ever imagined! Our beach-theme wedding cake made from The Butter End took my Big day to the next level that impressed all our guests. We would certainly recommend the Butter End to our friends and Families.

I accidentally stumbled across The Butter End Cakery, and I am so happy I did!!! I was on the hunt for a visually stunning cake, that tastes amazing. And let me tell you, you will be hard pressed to find anyone in the LA/Pasadena area that can do what Kimberly and her super talented staff did for us. This was for my step-mom's suprise party thrown by my father. My step mom has impeccable taste in everything. And her group of friends are the same. So I was nervous about planning what had to be the perfect surprise party and have a WOW factor as my dad requested. Mission accomplished! We had the cherry chocolate and the coconut with passion fruit butter cream. It is the kind of cake you want seconds or thirds. It was just so yummy. Kimberly is a true artist, and she understands color, which was a huge plus for what I wanted. The party was in Pasadena at the Valley Hunt Club, and I will say, word is out in Pasadena now about you guys!!! My only regret? Is that I opted not to have the beautiful has sculpted flower for the top of my cake!! My step mom and dad are still talking about the cake! Thank You Kimberly!!

Sara and Kimberly and their team made my dream wedding cake. I visited probably 5 different bakeries and none of them could do my design. The cake looked gorgeous but was also yummy!!!!! We had the coconut cake with passion fruit butter cream and carrot cake as our second tier. It was magical. A huge thank you for a dream come true cake!!!

Absolute perfection! Our wedding cake was everything we could possibly ever hope for and more. Kimberly is truly an artist and the best in the business. From start to finish our experience with Kimberly and her team was an absolute pleasure and we're so grateful to have had her design and create the most beautiful wedding cake for our big day. The entire experience, from the wedding tasting and design process to the delivery and execution, was perfect. Our wedding guests are still talking about our wedding cake weeks after the big day! We chose two flavors - the almond and the pumpkin - which were both so good that all our guests wanted slices of both. They actually loved the flavors so much that there weren't any leftovers after the wedding so I highly recommend getting an even bigger cake than you planned because it will be all gone before you know it! If you're lucky enough to get married in the fall, you MUST go with the pumpkin flavor. While not a standard wedding cake flavor option, you and your guests will not be disappointed! The most special and meaningful part of the cake was Kimberly's recreation of my beloved dog who had passed away right before our engagement. Both my mom and I immediately cried when we saw our beloved Baby girl on our wedding cake and I could not have asked for a better way to remember her on our special day. I will forever be grateful to Kimberly for making it possible to have her a part of our wedding day. Thank you, thank you Kimberly and team!! I am writing this raving review in favor of thanking Kimberly and her staff @ the Butter End for an amazing experience. I had my wedding this summer, and Kimberly designed my gorgeous cake: we hashed it out over an afternoon with my mother and wedding coordinator and she listened to every detail and executed it perfectly. 1st: She will listen to you. Whatever request is important to you will be taken into account. She will incorporate a beautiful design and evoke correctly the style of your wedding 2nd: Amazing, amazing taste! I cannot tell you how wonderful the cake tasting experience was. The flavors were all great and soft and moist and you can request to have less sugar on some of the frostings. It will be hard to decide for you,either way. The carrot cake is truly amazing. 3rd: Beautiful design. I could not have asked for a more perfect cake. My guests were flabbergasted by the cake's elegance. Tips: As a newlywed, It helps to have in mind the the feelings you want your cake to make you feel (i.e. Grand, glamorous, modern, classic) Mine was Gatsby, so we had feathers and rhinestones but it was done so beautifully and not tacky at all. Finding Sara & the artists at THE BUTTER END CAKERY was a happy accident. I had a quote from another well-known bakery which unfortunately was way over what I could afford. My daughter was determined to surprise her groom with a Lamborghini groom's cake. She said it was probably the only Lamborghini she would ever be able to give him. Sara came through with an affordable quote & the finished product was FABULOUS! The groom was totally blown away! The cake was an exact replica. So much detail. The cake itself was delicious: moist & flavorful & the rolled chocolate covering completely edible (unlike fondant). If you're looking for a sculpted cake for a special event, THE BUTTER END CAKERY is the place!

Our entire experience with Kimberly, Sara, and the Butter End Cakery team was fantastic! Our tasting was fun and it was really interesting to watch Kimberly create the beautiful design after telling her only a few ideas of what we wanted. The cake really exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier with how it came out. Our flavors were Coconut Cake with Passion Fruit Buttercream and Chocolate Almond Cherry Cake with Cherry Cream Cheese Buttercream - it was really delicious both at our tasting and on the big day. I always, always appreciate businesses that are dedicated to not only incredible customer service but also a wonderful product...Butter End Cakery is one of them.

The Butter End team is exceptionally accommodating and professional. They created a fantastic cake for my father's 60th birthday that was within my budget. Everyone at the party loved the design of the cake and took pictures of it. It also tasted delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone. It made the occasion even more special.

This bakery is simply delicious. I ordered our wedding cake from them and communicated by email or calls. It was a seamless experience and I loved speaking with Sara. Sara was so sweet and helped me through the nerves of planning the cake and the cake flowers. I saw my cake at the reception and smiled ear to ear. It was perfect! Everyone raved about how delicious the cake was. I'll be ordering more cakes from this bakery in the future!

I wish, I wish, I WISH I had a photo of my cake to post at the moment but I have to wait till my photographer sends them to me but this cakery is AMAZING! My wedding was last week and The Butter End created a beautiful blue/gray fade to white cake with two flavors, vanilla and banana chocolate chip. The cake is moist and unlike any other cake I've tasted, and during my tasting I fell in love with the marizpan flavor but sadly couldn't include it because of family allergies. They are extremely creative and artistic and will sit with you to determine the perfect cake design for your event. We were in awe of what was at the Shop when we did our tasting and I wish I had another event where I could hire them. Best Cake I've had. EVER. My guests agreed. Will be adding a photo once I get my hot little hands on it.

Kimberly is simply the best. I already knew I wanted Buttered End to create my wedding cake, but when I met with Kimberly, the decision was solidified instantly. I initially wanted a Buttered End cake because they are works of art--the finest craftsmanship in the industry, hands down. Their attention to detail is unparalleled and the designs are incredible. I heard through Hylah White, my wedding planner, that her cakes are insanely good too. She said that all the weddings with a Buttered End cake never have left overs, the entire thing is devoured. I quickly made an appointment to do a tasting. The tasting was a really fun experience. Not only did we get a one-on-one meeting with Kimberly, we got to try several of her most popular flavors complimented by a glass of champagne. HER CAKE IS THE BEST. OMG. She spent a good amount of time with us, never rushing us through the process. We talked about her inspiration behind the flavors--most of which are family recipes--and her creative process. Speaking of creative, if you're down to do a unique design (ours was navy with an abstract centerpiece dusted with gold), Kimberly is the one to do it. Her charisma and great sense of humor made the tasting a blast. My husband who usually takes a while to warm up to people loved her--we were laughing the whole time. I honestly wish we could recreate the experience and do it all over again! Fast forward to the wedding day, the cake was absolutely gorgeous. It was just what I had dreamed of, but better. The flavors were exactly how I remembered them at the tasting: moist, flavorful, sweet, and rich. We requested a couple slices to be saved for after the wedding and I'm glad we did because the rest of the cake vanished! Our guests raved about it. (I highly recommend the banana chocolate chip with cream cheese and the chocolate almond cherry cake). I love The Buttered End and can't wait to work with them again!

Kimberly made my wedding cake and most recently for my gender reveal party. The cake was stunning and was everything I could have hoped for and more. We went through a couple of round of edits - Kimberly and Katey were patient with me every step of the way. And the cake tasted amazing (coconut passion fruit) I cannot day enough good things about Kimberly and her team!!!

I called to schedule a cake tasting and was asked my budget for the cake. I shared my budget and the woman on the phone shared that they had a minimum cake price of $500, I told her that it was fine and our budget was flexible. She then asked me to describe the cake we wanted which I did and she then told me the price for a cake like that. Again, I told her that our budget was flexible. We don't have our hearts set on any one cake and would like to first get in the door without being given the third degree. She shared that she would email me the available times for cake tasting appointments. I said ok and waited for an email. After an hour past, I called back and asked about the email because I hadn't received it yet. The woman who answered told me that emails are sent at the end of the day. I said ok and waited until the end of the day. Still no email. It has now been a week and I never received an email with available times to schedule a cake tasting appointment. I felt like the representative just brushed me off because the original budget I stated was under their minimum. As I stated before, our budget is flexible and our cake was one of the items that we are willing to go over budget for. I was given the third degree before even getting an opportunity to taste or see cake designs. She could have said this is the price for the cake you want, however, we'd be happy to show you some designs that fall within your budget. We have moved on and scheduled other cake tasting appointments at bakeries where we feel respected. I just would like others to know how I was treated at this bakery.

They say 'never trust a skinny cook', so when the supermodel-esque Brittany B was passionately promoting The Butter End Cakery's cookies as "life-changing", I was skeptical to say the least. But, the girl - and her lightning-fast metabolism - were correct. The Butter End is about as good as a cookie can get, and the secret to success is spelled out in their name: B-U-T-T-E-R. You can taste it in every bite, see it in the gleaming crusty sheen of each monstrous cookie, and if you're anyone except Brittany B you can probably feel it, eventually, in the top button of your pants. But, that's what treadmills are for. Brittany brought us a variety pack of pretzel-caramel-chocolate, bacon-pancake, Snickers, and rocky road cookies, individually wrapped and chunky to the max. Truly, undeniably delicious combos. Far too indulgent for LA...I'd expect cookies like this to come from the midwest, where people like flavor and don't count calories. I hope they're getting the love they deserve in La-LA-land. This would be the most amazing gift to someone for a celebration, or...as a replacement for the cliche pint of Ben n' Jerry's for the opposite of celebrating. Right ladies?

The Butter End designed and created our cake for our Aug 2013 wedding at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. When we selected the SLS we actually didn't immediately realize that the hotel had a working relationship with The Butter End and were very pleasantly surprised. The only thing we knew about them was what we read on their site (no fondant, yay!) prior to meeting Kimberly and her staff for the cake tasting. Even though we didn't have expectations, if we did, they would have been blown away. Kimberly gave us a huge selection of cakes to choose from (every person that showed up got their own tasting portions, and each slice was different in aroma and taste (rich, light, decadent, fruity). We knew we had to have the Signature Cake, however! Our other choice (we were allowed two) was Coconut Passion Fruit. They even boxed up our leftovers which we were able to further share with our friends and family. At that point, the actual design of the cake however was still an unknown. Kimberly has many examples and photos of their work on display but it wasn't until she showed us her experimental designs in architectural cakes that we knew what we wanted. She had commented that so far, she'd had clients that were impressed with her design but that no one had been willing to make the leap to make it their traditional wedding cake.
