The Cabinet Mezcal Bar

Really cool mezcal and cocktails bar in the east village. So many types of tequila to choose from. We enjoyed the tacos as well !

If you love mezcal, you'll love this place. Came here for a few quick rounds of drinks. Additionally, we tried the little $3 tacos, and they were pretty good. For drinks, I had the cinnamon margarita & the LA Primavera margarita. They're a couple dollars cheaper if you visit during happy hour like we did. The staff is attentive, but it might be crowded, it might not. It was only half full when we visited. Give them a look if you're in the area.

Happy hour drinks were great especially the Paloma. However that $9 for 2 chicken tacos was very sad. It was tortilla with a couple of chicken pieces with slapped on sauce.

ALPHABET CITY STAND UP! One of the beautiful hidden gems of AC. I'm workshopping that acronym so bear with me. If you like Mezcal, you need to come here. Trust me, I am a mezcal expert. I took one 60 minute mezcal mixology class when I was in Mexico City and ended up getting too turnt to retain anything, but an expert nonetheless. I have been a few times and it's hit or miss on whether it is packed or not. Crowd or no crowd, the staff has always been accommodating and patient. They have a FANTASTIC happy hour where they have a flight of Mezcal for $18. Be careful, as that and a Paloma will have you leaning when you walk out of there. I F'd up and didn't take pics of the drinks when I went, so that's on me. I've tried the mezcal flight, paloma, classic marg, peach margarita, and the cinnamon marg. Essentially everything on the happy hour menu ahahahaha. My favorites were the Paloma & cinnamon marg. Quality that is. Also, the little $3 tacos are the cutest little things I've ever seen. And yummy. Love this place and it would be a great date spot fellas👀!!!!

We had an amazing time here to celebrate our anniversary! Got a happy hour flight (only $18!) which came with 3 mezcals selected by the bartender, as well as some light snacks. Super friendly staff, and some amazing rare mezcals. Will definitely be back!!

We came for a drink on the terrace on Friday night, one of the first warm nights. There was a storm, and the rain was pretty heavy, but we didn't get wet. It was really nice to hear the thunder and raindrops, and all the little birds in the nearby tree. We ordered a flight of mezcal and a $3 beer since it was happy hour. The indoor bar looked really good too. I feel like it would pretty cool to come back for cocktail . The waiters were nice too. A good time.

I met a young man on the bus the other day and he recommended. It is so welcoming Very causing The stuff is amazing If you're looking for. A little quiet corner just to hang out at this is the place.

Went for the FREE mezcal tasting, featuring the oxacan adventure, and were so impressed by the quality of the spirits and the instructor led presentation! The staff were great and we’d definitely go back for more of their happy hour margs. A hidden gem for sure!

Great bar with great service! The drinks here are really good. The jamon y melon is a really special drink. When I went, I ordered a frozen drink but it wasn't at the consistency they wanted yet. So they brought me a complimentary mini margarita for the wait, and then little shots of the un-frozen drink, which was still delicious! I ended up having a lemongrass margarita, which was excellent and quite smooth. The staff were all very kind and went above and beyond. I'll definitely be back!

This is a unique little bar on the Lower East Side not really for food but rather for their drinks and specifically their massive mezcal selection which has a rotating selection. While I have not been here for the cocktails, they occasionally have mezcal classes and I went to one a good while ago. The person presenting (Greg it seems from the other photos) was very knowledgeable and he went over mezcal from various regions along with other ingredients and about the production. I think it came with 5 different tastings with the third or 4th one being my favorite though my general preference tends to be mezcal which has a stronger smokiness and funk to it. As we weren't that hungry, our group shared the Fondue de Queso which was essentially queso fundido with various things to dip into it. Listed as a blend of Mexican cheeses and beer, it had tortilla chips, Chicharrónes, and apple slices to dip. The fried pork skin was solid while the queso was average. Another person had another smaller dish and said it was fine. After the tasting, I spoke with the guy and based on my preferences, he gave me a sample of two different mezcal which was very appreciated based on my preferences before I eventually had the El Hecha Gulpas Santa Catarina Minas Espadin which was delicious. The bottle itself was very expensive apparently and I could see why and I think my drink was perhaps $18 or $20 and well worth it for the high quality drink. I would go back and have this one again or try another mezcal from there. Food gets IDK a 3 or 2.5 or something but the drinks get much higher

This is such a cute little place. It's giving upscale dive bar/pub meets a lounge/parlor. The staff is friendly and the drinks are really good. They also offer classes, flights and tastings, check the site for schedules. The Mezcal tasting I attended was very informative, laid back and tipsy I ordered a take on a painkiller made with mezcal and its good! You have to try it!

We were bar hopping for the night and I was able to find this gem. It's a decently sized space and the ambiance is more chill but not too chill as people were getting really lit in there. Ahah. Anyway, we were able to snag a standing round table and just chill. This bar specializes in mezcal (surprise). I ended up ordering the kamekaze and I really liked the drink. My other friends liked their drink as well, even tho one of them isn't a big fan of mezcal. Overall, a nice place to kick it at and grab a drink or two.

Went to a Mezcal tasting for Cinco de Mayo! Learned so much about mezcal and different brand in Mexico. Ate some amazing food. Will definitely go again!

Zero stars would probably be better than one, but that's not an option. If you're going to let people make reservations weeks in advance & then you want to host a private event maybe contact the people who have made reservations INSTEAD of just random canceling it at 3PM the day of. Was really excited to try this place because of the reviews and now I never want to come back. Good customer service is everything and really not that hard.

Visited this restaurant for a mezcal tasting. I first had drinks and food. I ordered a traditional Paloma, which was very tasty. Coupled the Paloma with a mole tamale (which is currently free if you check in on Yelp). I also tried their frozen margarita, which was decent. When it came time for the tasting, we walked into an enclave, revealing another room. There was a HUGE selection of Mezcal. A lot of which, are not available in the states. The host was extremely knowledgeable and recommended great choices. It was also nice that he provided a backstory to each mezcal. I took photos of some he recommended.

No frills bar, focusing on mezcal drinks. Got pineapple daiquiris and they were strong and delicious. But they all came out super sticky and no napkins offered. They put their menu QR code on the sanitizer bottle, which is creative...but the code didn't work for us. So we had to just manually look it up. If you're looking for something simple and straightforward, head on over!

Awesome place- staff were super friendly and welcoming. The bar has lots of seating as well as smaller tables scattered about. The atmosphere was very chill and I enjoyed their music selection. I had the mezcal adventure flight and it was a great sampling of different agave varieties and flavors. My wife had the mezcal Negroni and I think it was probably the best one that I have ever tried. We also tried the nachos (yum- lots of cheese sauce), the pork taco (a little on the small side but pork was very tasty), and the poblano and mole chicken tamales (very good and actually quite substantial in size). Can't wait to go back!

Nice little spot in the alphabet city. They are a mezcal bar with excellent cocktails. Food options are limited but drinks are great - they also have mezcal flights.

From the people behind Mace and Existing Conditions. The bar focuses mainly on a curated mezcal, tequila, and rye selection - which can be experienced in different sized pours or even flights. If you want to enjoy a cocktail, I like how the menu had just eight options to choose from. Have tried the Collaboration and the Primer Beso, both which were great. We came in on the day before the grand opening when they were in soft opening mode. The layout is pretty much identical to the old Mace, whose space The Cabinet replaced. Have no doubt this place will become a hit, as it seems like the Cocktail Kingdom people can really do no wrong. In a city with a glut of cocktail bars, I'd much rather spend my money at places like The Cabinet, who take their love of spirits and their craft seriously. Will definitely come by again!

New addition to Alphebet City , we went on a Friday it was pretty quiet but also something we were looking for instead of the loud bars in East Village that we couldn't have a proper conversation. Tasty interesting cocktails and cool bartenders. Yelp check in for a free Tamale but uhmmm I don't like Tamale it doesn't taste like edible food for me...

Amazing decor. Great ambiance and costumer service. The drinks are good and strong. They have different options for food at a good price.

The bar is tucked in a cute location. The staff is super friendly. It's a good spot for drinks, I recommend you try their Caminante. If you're hungry this is not a great choice for hanging because they barely have options and I ordered chips n salsa n tamale, which was basic. Would have given this place a 4/5 if wasn't for the food

My friends and I noticed this bar as we tried to go out elsewhere in Alphabet City. However, the bar we found ourselves at was too noisy so wanting a reprieve, we decided to turn around and come back here. It was SO worth it. The bar had a bunch of rye, mezcal, and tequila drinks which made me so happy (especially bc I love the latter two). There was even a drink my friend got that came in a cute little bowl that you sip on. Overall, this place is a hidden gem and I was very impressed. P.S. Fwiw, the pork tamale is def better than the chicken one. :)

I came here to grab a drink with someone on a Saturday night and absolutely loved it. The location is in a nice part of East Village and the vibe is good. We ended up getting 4 cocktails and 2 rounds of chips & salsa. The bartender was so friendly and nice she would come all the way around the bar to give us our drinks. I mostly focussed on Mezcal based cocktails, and they were all delicious. They're temporarily closed due to Corona, but I hope they open back up soon! I can't wait to go back.

Im so glad I decided to try this bar out ! It's a little bar with some great cocktails and it has a very intimate setting. Service was amazing and so were the drinks. The bartender (didn't get her name) was sooooo friendly she took the time to explain the different drinks and even have us some mezcal to try. The Primer beso was the best one. I will for sure be going back !

Went here today and had an awful experience. The person taking us was rude and lectured my sister about how they don't have soda with an attitude when she asked for sparkling water. Our drinks were messy and spilling all over the place and he didn't even get us napkins until my pants were already soaked. The frozen margaritas were also terribly made. It tasted like frozen saltwater. Never coming back here ever again.

What a gem in the alphabet city! They have interesting mezcals, a number of fun mezcal flight options, and friendly and informative bartenders. I can't wait to go back and try more mezcals and food!

Finally got a chance to visit The Cabinet - A Mezcal, Tequila & Rye Bar in the hear of East Village, NYC! We were greeted immediately upon arrival and began to feel the awe of this amazing place already! From having a dim lit speakeasy vibe, wall art, captivating decor to leather couches, this one seemed to have it all! As the only bar with an extensive list of mezcal, tequila & ryewhiskey crafted cocktails to flight style tastings, this is a one of a kind experience for sure! --- We ordered: 1) Caminante (Azteca Azul Tequila, Jalapeño, Lemon, Almond, Mint) 2) Sazerac 3) Chips + Cantina style Red Salsa 4) Chicharrines Con Tajin Evrything from mixology technique to presentation style to the flavor profile was captivating! --- Next time you are in east village or have friends visiting the city, dont forget to visit it to impress and prepare to be impressed

So ... this is the most special place I've been in a long time. If you're a fan of tequila, mezcal, bacanora, raicilla, destilado de agave, sotol, or any of the Mexican spirits related to that range of delicious, drop your butt at their bar and put your tastebuds in the more-than-capable hands of The Cabinet's educated staff. You'll exit a couple hours later buzzing in every sense of the word.

Visited The Cabinet after hearing that it was curated by the same people as Mace -- was very impressed with the cocktails. This bar focuses on tastes of Rye, Mezcal, and Tequila, which you can sample in tastings, flights, and cocktails. The cocktail list is short and sweet, but as someone who is not a huge fan of Mezcal or Tequila, I was still able to find something tasty -- The Forty Niner was a rye-based drink with hints of peanut and raspberry. It was like a mature, adult peanut butter and jelly sandwich in drink form, and it was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the Primero Beso, which was mezcal-forward but perfectly sweet with a touch of watermelon. The service was great, and the bartender, upon hearing that my favorite spirits (gin and vodka) were... entirely absent from their menu, offered to make me something else if The Forty Niner didn't suit me. I look forward to visiting The Cabinet again when I find myself with a mezcal/tequila loving crowd.

The atmosphere was perfect and the drinks were amazing as well. You won't be disappointed. It was one of the few places I've been where I didn't have the urge to scream to be heard. The serve was amiable.

Absolutely the best mezcal I've ever had. Definitely come here. It also helps that the vibe is super chill and the bar is not overrun with people. Very much a cocktail connoisseur bar.

The drinks here are phenomenal. They're by the same owners as Mace but with a new menu focused on tequila, mezcal, and rye. We ordered the Collaboration cocktail and the Primer Beso. They were both very different but perfectly balanced and superbly executed. If you come here searching for mace, be sure to stay for a drink because they are on par with the former location's epitome of New York cocktail culture.

Alejandro is the man. He will take you on a journey of many mezcals. Try the mole one for sure. Great tamale too. Also they sell very rare bottles

Internally struggling with whether or not I want to write this spectacular review. Despite the fear of bringing onto myself elbow on elbow combat for bar space with the LES hipster-Chic crowd, I feel obligated to report this place NAILS IT. The drinks are the best I've had in the city, which is quite the statement from your friendly neighborhood lush. From the forty niner made with peanut (!!!) to the spicy cocktails served in wooden bowls from Mexico, getting buzzed truly never tasted so fabulous. I didn't even mind that my bill was the equivalent of 7 Trader Joe's runs. Please go on a date here, the lighting and ambiance were made for adding 1-2 points to your attractiveness score

This is probably my favorite cocktail bar in NYC. The drinks are sophisticated. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The vibe is chill and relaxing. If you like Dear Irving, Raines, Dead Rabbit, Analogue, Banzarbar, etc., definitely try The Cabinet.

You have to go and try their variety of mezcal. Janelli is the best bartender! She will take care if you and really knows her stuff when it comes to mezcal and she's super nice! Also have their pork tamale. It's insanely delicious! Just go, like tonight!

I love mezcal and tequila and tend to be picky about the places I go for that. I will start by saying the hostess Janelli is a great bar tender, suggested to try the mezcal shots with oranges and cinnamon as well as other lesser known but great mezcal bottles. Their tamales are delicious and the vibe perfect to meet up with a friend for drinks or a first date. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great cocktails on a night out in alphabet city.

Seriously incredible cocktails. Specialize in tequila and mezcal and what an amazing selection they have. If you think mezcal is too smoky for your liking, try some of the ones they serve. Many have a mellow smoky flavor that may change your mind. Friendly staff. And they serve insanely good pork tamales imported from East Harlem. Perfect with their drinks.

O was there on Wednesday and This is my best spot in lower east side. Alejandro makes the best drinks ever. For sure I'm coming back again.
