Google
I was able to choose espresso type fitted my beverage (there were two: medium-dark roast and medium, so I went with the latter one). My Oatmilk hot latte query cinnamon ($6.25) was awesome, highly recommend! The thing to improve: I really want organic oatmilk instead of what the store has right now. Modern stylish place with great employees. Parking is bad (I saw one car with a broken window).

I tried their drip coffee, mocha, and Vietnamese coffee with matcha foam—everything was so good! This has been my favorite café so far. I love the vibe and their amazing customer service.

Google
Wow! Great find. Great place with interesting, great quality espresso drinks. I had the nocciola-tte, a flat white with chocolate hazelnut. I came by during their day of “Buon Anniversario” for which they partnered with some great Bay Area bakeries including B. Patisserie. I hope I’m in the area again to come back.

Google
I ordered a medium cold brew, with light ice. This is my order everywhere - because you get more coffee if there’s less ice. The Barista at The Caffe by Mr Espresso said, in complete seriousness, “would you like to pay an extra $1 to top off your cold brew?” I stared blankly. “What?” I asked. “If you order the drink with light ice, we won’t fill the cup all the way up to give you extra coffee. You have to pay an extra dollar for it.” This is how civilizations end. This is also how I learned to never return to The Caffe by Mr Espresso.

Google
Its great place right beside Mariott. Personally, the coffee was not bad. I had ice americano but it was bit light taste.

Google
Nicely designed shop, with counter seating. Coffee is good, but the beans come out a bit bitter for me. Food was basic pastries. So overall 4 out of 5 for me.

Google
The BEST drip coffee you will ever have. They use a very cool machine to make it and it tastes better than a lot of pour overs I’ve had! Really delicious seasonal drinks. Friendly staff. Delicious pastries. This is one of the best coffee shops and could not be more under the radar. A must visit!

Google
Cool origin story. Magnificent quality products across their entire inventory. Cheers for being open on a holiday. Barista service was rare combo of quick and wonderfully delicious. Aesthetic presentation also marvelous. ☕️

Yelp
The first time I tried The Caffe, I ordered a butterscotch latte with whole milk, iced. The music at the time was a bit loud and it was hard to hear; it was mostly standing room with a few small chairs. They have an unusual layout where the baristas work in the middle of the cafe and are surrounded by a bar-style counter. The drink took a few minutes to prepare. It was sweet and rich; the sweetness helped offset the bitterness of coffee. I felt it was even better when I added some half and half on top, as someone who is pretty sensitive to the taste of coffee. There was a collab special of a candied yams latte at the time, but I didn't see it until after I ordered. I came back another time to order the almond bisco-latte, another temporary special, which is a biscotti milk latte with Acquerello's signature almond biscotti. Personally I liked the biscotti, which was buttery and crunchy - and I'm someone who doesn't normally like biscotti. The bitterness of coffee followed by almond reminded me of marzipan or sweet almonds. I had another butterscotch latte and it was still good. Overall, pretty good drinks - solid coffee, but they also have temporary specials that are collaborations with local chefs, so there's also that novelty of interesting flavors to try.

Yelp
Finally a place that makes butterscotch latte just right! This is the best butterscotch Latte I have found in the bay The staff is so sweet and makes you want to visit again! This place has a really cool, almost museum like vibe! This is right next to the 12th Oakland BART station and is designed to be more of a grab and go type coffee place

Yelp
Quick service. Horchata Cold Brew was tasty. Too sweet for me. Not much seating if you wanted to study or meet up folks over coffee. I definitely want to come back during one of their collabs with chefs. Love that it's by the Bart exit!

Yelp
Great variety of coffees (try the tiger coffee it's Thai iced tea and latte mix ) They have great service and have a wide variety of pastries. Try the cannoli small but delicious and the breakfast sandwiches too.

Yelp
The Caffè has been on my bookmarked list foreverrrr and Mr. Espresso beans are some of my faves so I finally made it there on New Year's Eve. The shop is located in the middle of Downtown Oakland, but since we arrived on a day that I assume most people were off, parking wasn't too bad. We parked on the street around the corner at a metered spot and walked the short distance. I love love love the concept of a coffee bar. There's no real line here, you order just as you would at an alcoholic bar. Find a barista when they're available, order with them, and they'll make your drink. Then, you can hang out and enjoy your drinks at the bar, take it to go, or sit at one of their tables (there aren't many, but there are a handful of seats). Besides the unique concept, the coffee shop itself is GORGEOUS. The tall ceilings come with huge floor to ceiling windows and beautiful (architecture? art?) design inside. Just look at the pictures and you'll see what I mean. Another thing I love about The Caffè is that they feature rotating drink collabs with local chefs. That's what'll keep me coming back for sure. Be sure to follow them on instagram (@thecaffeoak) or check out their website to see their latest collabs. And on top of all that, the drinks are delicious. I had their Bicerin Alla Menta, a collab with Chef Craig Stoll of Delfina, and it was the dreamiest peppermint drinking chocolate/mocha. I also tried their butterscotch latte, a signature on their menu, and wow, how can I replicate this at home so I can have this every day?! Anyways, 5 stars all around!

Yelp
I was looking for a good matcha in the area and this place seemed promising even though their focus was coffee. They no longer have any of their matcha specials, which I think were part of a pop up, but they have a regular matcha latte on their menu. I ordered an iced unsweetened matcha latte with oat milk. I saw that they had a squeeze bottle of matcha, so I don't think they whisk matcha to order. Still, I could tell just from the color that it would be good. The matcha was a bright green and had no clumps. Really good for a place that doesn't specialize in matcha! My only complaint, if you could call it that, is that they use the dreaded paper straws. This wasn't even an issue because I drank the matcha so quickly that the paper straw didn't have time to get soggy. The inside looks very modern and clean. I was a little confused by the bar-like set up. I wasn't sure where to order, but one of the employees came over and took my order. Service was very nice and quick both times that I went! I would definitely recommend this cafe if you're looking for a place that puts a lot of care into their craft.

Yelp
===TL;DR=== - Butterscotch latte ===TMI=== First impression: spacious. 2nd impression: not many chairs. My conclusion: seems like a grab and go place. However, the butterscotch latte was so solid! What a gem!

Yelp
If you want quality coffee for an affordable price this is the spot for you! Their coffee is honestly so smooth and delicious! I could not believe I ordered their Butterscoth latte and it's was $5! Yep you read that right FIVE DOLLARS!!! Not DOLL HAIRS LOL! I was shocked because this place is definitely hipster and I would have expected to pay way more. It's better than Starbucks and literally half the price. Only thing is not as convenient. I love to stop in though when I have the time. Staff is super chill and they play really good music I literally vibe out when I come here!!
google avatar

Sukrit C.

Yelp
Butterscotch lattes are kind of my favorite flavored lattes, they are not extremely sweet, don't taste chemically of sorts and genuinely yum! When you search for this place it will always show you a lot of people ordering this. I wish there was more space to sit and spend some time there and also would be nice to have more savory options for food.
google avatar

Yelp
This is going to be my new favorite coffee shop. I just wish there was more seating and I was closer! I love the focus on the quality of the coffee as well as the craft nature of some of the drinks. I got a ginger cardamom cold brew that was delicious paired with a canele during a pop up. What a cute idea!
google avatar

Yelp
No lines, just great coffee drinks and a cool vibe. Can get crowded but most good spots do!

Hannah T.

Yelp
First time trying this coffee shop! Super cute inside and service is the best! Matcha latte is good and their pastries look good too. Definitely come back to try it.

Yelp
Really nice room. Great staff I got a flat white which was really nice. I'll come back for straight espresso and cold brew. I was given some food samples and they were all really tasty. This could've just been a tourist trap, or a workday place. It's quite a bit more than that.
google avatar

Brizylla A.

Yelp
A great find. Their coffee and pastries are amazing! I'm usually skeptical about ordering a pumpkin spice latte but no regrets here. Probably the best one I've had in a very long time. Reasonably priced and fast service. Perfect vibes for a work session or relaxing coffee with friends. Atmosphere was just fine.

Yelp
I was attending a conference the past couple days in Oakland, and a few of my coworkers recommended this place to get coffee before we attend. The pastries and coffee definitely caught my attention, so I agreed to try this place out. If you're taking bart and getting off the 12th street stop, look for the exit signs for Broadway and 11th, because it's literally right across the street. I almost missed it the first day when I was trying to find this coffee shop. This cafe is super cute! The pastries are behind a cute glass frame where the baristas are, the menu is located on the left side of the cafe where fruit, tea, and other drinks are, and there are a few baristas that will occasionally check for people that want to order. All the baristas I met were super nice and very inviting! They are super quick to get your order out, and it does help that this space is pretty open. I will say that this place only accepts card from my understanding since they only have square mobile devices. It helps keep the space open without having a huge register in the middle of the coffee bar. Over the past two days, I ended up getting the following: -Iced Butterscotch Latte with oat milk $5.50 (this is the regular price but idk if they charge additional for oat milk) -Horchata Cold Brew $5 -Cold Brew with Sweet Cream $4.50 -Cheddar Scallion Scone $4.50-5 -Citrus Blueberry Muffin $5-6 I believe? REVIEW OF ALL THE ITEMS I TRIED: -Iced Butterscotch Latte - this was good! The butterscotch taste was subtle, but you can definitely tell it's there. The caffeine itself was smooth and not too strong. 4/5 -Horchata Cold Brew - this was personally my favorite out of the two days! I really loved the taste of cinnamon and the flavors of horchata throughout. This was not overly sweet, but man you can drink this in a whole setting because that's how good it was. This is already pre-made, so it was quick to come out. 5/5 -Cold Brew with Sweet Cream - in case you don't want to support a big coffee store chain (cough), this is a similar alternative. The cold brew itself was light, and the cream itself was very smooth. I will say that it wasn't as sweet as I though it was. It did pair well with the cold brew to have a nice afternoon pick me up 3.5/5. -Cheddar Scallion Scone - this was delicious! Super savory with the cheese and the freshness from the bits of scallion embedded throughout. This definitely leaned more savory which is what I enjoyed the most. It was almost like a mix between a scone and a biscuit? It was fluffy inside, but crispy on the outside. Highly recommend trying this out! 4/5 -Citrus Blueberry Muffin - this was good! Super moist and the slight citrus taste did compliment the blueberry. I would say that it definitely didn't feel like it had a dense muffin consistency since it seemed a lot softer and fluffier. Regardless, very delicious! 4/5 I am sad that they ran out of the cream croissants on the second day and I had a chance to get them the first day. I didn't notice them before it was too late. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in Oakland!! I definitely love the horchata cold brew the most, but I'll have to get my hands on the cream croissant (+ other pastries they have!!)

Yelp
Always a pleasure to stop by here (by this I mean every chance, I make sure - even if it means missing my BART)! Staff are super engaging, the space is open and welcoming, and there is always spot-on coffee. Over time, I feel that really wonderful businesses seem to stay/ maintain (which seems difficult enough) but imo Mr. Espresso does that AND gets better. I guess I should have figured when they carried Asha Tea House's matcha and Oakland Spice Shop's chai - I love that they collaborate with their local Bay Area small business partners. Be sure to check out their "Chef Collab" drinks, such as Hopi-Avocado (avocado with espresso and coconut milk) or the latest, Sago't Gulaman Iced Coffee (cold brew with condensed milk, coconut cream, espresso soaked boba, coconut jelly)! On top, they make sure to also rotate their seasonal drink menus which keeps me coming back out of pure curiosity. Perhaps it's also shining light on the fact that they are already a well-established legacy at Oakland... I'm sure the locals know this but it was only recently that I knew they were a coffee roaster back at '78. What I did know is that still have their roastery/ storefront closer to Jack London. Check that out too - they have one of the most amazing deals on brewed coffee still in these times of inflation....

Yelp
Wow! The most boss cafe from Oakland's finest purveyors of Italian style coffee, Mr. Espresso! Family owned and hand crafted Since the early 1980s, selections at the caffe will have you drooling for more and dreaming of being in the heart of Italy. From the sweet vibes of a Shakarato (hazelnut praline, espresso, heavy cream) shaken in a bar shaker and served with frothy goodness for you're indulgence, to sittin back and sippin on a Cold Brew Tonic this hot summer, is the way to go! Top that off with daily homemade Tcho chocolate chip cookies, daily homemade focaccia, and fresh sandwiches, and you just may be addicted. And keep an EYE for monthly chef collab drinks, which always are next level! Enjoy conversations of coffee and life with no WiFi, A-list customer service from the highly skilled baristas and just a beautiful atmosphere! Ciao!

Yelp
Brief Summary: - Located close to the 12th BART station - The interior is so cool - bar tables and chairs around the walls and around the center kitchen - The staff calls the order by menu name instead of customer name - Coffee is not sour When looking for a coffee place to drink, I stopped this one. The interior photos of this one caught my eye and I decided to go here as the first stop of the day. This cafe is close to the 12th street BART, and a sign is handing from the entrance. At first glance, the building looks corporate and unwelcoming, but as we walked close to this block, I saw a few locals flock in and out of the tall glass doors. Once inside, the first thing that I saw was the high ceiling, where you almost bend your next to see everything. Next is the large square kitchen, where the staff takes your order and makes the coffee. Along the walls of this square kitchen are display cases of the pastries served that day. While it seemed confusing, such as where do we line up and order, most of the guests stood at the side of the table that was closest to the entrance, and the other three sides were for sitting. I ordered a latte and two different pastries, one savory and one sweet. The ordering was done with the portable machines. The wait time was on the average, and they will call out the order name rather than the customer's, so I would suggest looking for the guest who ordered before you as a marker. I love the latte they made here. It was a good blend where the coffee is stronger than the milk. The ambience is nice, so I would like to come back here again

Yelp
Came here based on Social Media reviews Told the unwelcoming guy at counter it was my first time and what would he recommend. Got the tiger coffee which is there most popular drink not sure why nothing Special! Also got a golden latte for gf, had way too much turmeric we asked if we could change it for another tiger coffee since we she tried mine and due to poor customer service we didn't care to ask for any more recommendations or further interaction. We got the crappiest customer service from the barista. He told us we already paid for the golden latte and couldn't be trying drinks! I said! First off we are not trying drinks simply didn't care for the latte and wanted to trade for tiger coffee Mind you we only took a sip before asking to change it. He made the tiger coffee and when he gave it to us he said " here's your free coffee " Point of review is if you choose to work in a industry where customer service interaction is part of your job, take pride in giving the customers a pleasant experience or pick a different industry. Owners work hard to open their establishment and customers come to experience the product so when when you come across service like this it's not cool for both owners and customers.

Yelp
EXCELLENT Horchata cold brew! Would definitely come again for that. My coworkers' coffee was also good. Not much seating inside and what it is is small chairs and like a countertop. Minus one star for the barista/cashier rolling his eyes at all the customers, including us. He seemed annoyed and generally didn't want to work there or make coffee. Too bad because the coffee is great here!

Yelp
Visited on a Monday around 1pm and there was a short line of about 2 other people when I arrived. The caffe is fairly large and spacious with minimal seating but plenty of standing room, most seats were taken when I arrived. Drink: Vietnamese egg coffee - the chef featured drink collaboration, thick sweet creamy egg custard foam on top of a shot of espresso mixed with a touch of drip coffee, garnished with shaved chocolate. Very tasty, the bitterness from the espresso balances the sweet creamy custard, mix ever so slightly so you get a better balance or drink/eat with a spoon. Service was good, quick order at the counter and efficient. Overall enjoyed visiting the caffee, great spot to grab coffee, menu has some unique offerings and food looked pretty good as well but didn't try any on this visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee spot in downtown Oakland. Wonderful and strong drinks. They sell pastries, and pre-made sandwiches that look wonderful and delicious. Staff is friendly. Care is taken in making the drinks. Flavor is wonderful and caffeine strength is present. All in all, a definite place to visit.

Yelp
SO excited I finally got to try this spot! It's modern, cute, and trendy. Got a latte with oat milk (note, they don't have almond milk for my nut milk lovers lol) and a lemon blueberry muffin. The coffee was a smooth and balanced and the muffin was soft, crumbly and great flavor! There's some seating by the window right when you walk in and then a back wood bar area for seating as well. Service was excellent (they served our coffee right over the back bar) and had a some lemon water available too. Street parking isn't too bad/was able to find one a block away around 9am on a Monday). The coffee shop is right in front of the WeWork building in downtown. Can't wait to come back to try other drinks and pastries!!

Yelp
First timer and this place was perfect for the early morning, just got off BART pick me up I needed. Chic but not bougie, staff was warm and welcoming, and my barista Arlon pulled a perfect espresso shot. Almond croissant and 24 hr cold brew, with a Sicily blood orange soda to go. 12/10 will be coming back

Yelp
Located in Downtown Oakland, a block from Oakland Chinatown, two blocks from City Hall and just outside of the 12th St BART Station (closer to 11th St), Caffe by Mr Espresso is a nice recent post-COVID addition. The interior is sharp, modern dreamy with a very good staff who are efficient and reliable. Love the coffee here and have had a sweet and savory item to eat. Both were ok. The savory ham and croissant was a bit dry and lacking. Hopefully they improve that and get a better savory option. The dessert Was ok but unmemorable. I'll have to try a few more of their pastries before I give a mark on that (though I prefer savory first thing in the morning over sweet pastries). Excellent place to sit down and talk if you go In the back area. The cortado is good but prices are rather exorbitant (2 coffees and two dried up croissants will cost as much as $25). That said, this is a place I'll come to every now and then. I'd pay more and come more often if the sides were better and more memorable. Still overall, a fun experience.

Yelp
Such a great cafe in downtown Oakland! I loved the architecture in the cafe and even the gorgeous bathrooms! We tried a few drinks and we absolutely loved the butterscotch drink and the hazelnut coffee. Solid pastries as well. Can't wait to come back to try their limited time seasonal drinks and other pastries! Came here for the vibe and stayed for the bomb drinks. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is such a cute little cafe, super aesthetically pleasing. The owner Luigi is super kind and friendly. I would say it's a bit confusion on where to order, there isn't an indent or anything for the register. I got the shakerado and it was one of the best coffees I've ever had. It was so sweet and decadent, tastes like nutella. I do recommend adding milk, depending on how sweet you like your coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice modern space located near Oakland 12th street BART. Upon entering you will notice a huge barista bar that takes center stage. An interesting wood based ceiling installation helps to ground the bar area. Seating is available around the bar and some stool like seating is available near the entry. Overall more comfortable seating would be a plus. Menu offers standard coffee options both latte and filter based and some specialties in particular the house made butterscotch latte. I asked if they could make a matcha latte w/ butterscotch which wasn't on the menu but the manager was open to trying and it turned out really well. The space overall is really cool and the service was great. Will definitely be back for another butterscotch matcha !
google avatar

Cheng F.

Yelp
I usually get their Nitro Brew with sweet cream but their Butterscotch is good too. I'm not fan of matcha drinks/food but their matcha drink special (with tonic) is fire!!!! I kept drinking friend's drink and saying "Mmmm!" So, I got myself one on my next visit. Their pastries are also very good but! Their breakfast sandwich was even better! So good! At first I was a little skeptical until I took a bite. So good. Customer service is always really good!
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
Good cortado and gorgeous space. Cortado is my go-to when trying new places. The only disappointment was that they added sugar without asking me. I've never had sugar automatically added to my cortado, so I'm surprised they didn't give me a heads up. Staff explained that cortado meant "to cut" in Spanish, which I was aware of but every place I've been to takes this to mean to cut with milk, but here, they're interpreting it as to cut with sugar. Will definitely come back ( order sans sugar).
google avatar

Angel L.

Yelp
Modern & sleek interior, great spot for socializing! There are few seats and no outlets so wouldn't recommend working here. Cappuccino was good ratio of froth to milk, next time I want to try their house-made butterscotch latte! Street parking only or you could park in a nearby parking lot in Chinatown/Downtown
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
Another chance to stop by and enjoy another collab coffee. This one is by Chef Denise Huynh of Tay Ho here in Oakland. Sorry folks but today was the last day for this one. You will have to take my word- delicious. Super Flavorful Coffee blended with Condensed Milk and Egg Yolk Custard.
google avatar

Norman-lee D.

Yelp
Don't go for the food. Go for the coffee. They have fun seasonal drinks like, right now they have Thai tea w/ coffee, it's delicious. But the pastries they have are subpar. Service is chill and the music is good, making it pretty cool place overall. At the same time though, this is definitely set up to cater to the corporate folks who work around Broadway, making the clientele a mix of majority business folk and people who live downtown.

Yelp
I've been to The Caffè a handful of times since it's opened. A great location for people working in downtown Oakland who want good coffee & a pastry/yogurt for breakfast or a snack. Parking is relatively easy to find on the surrounding side streets. What's unique about this place is that they serve a single shot espresso. They also have some pastries made in house & all that I've tried have been delicious. My favorite drinks are their half sweet iced butterscotch latte & cortado.
google avatar

Lyn P.

Yelp
The Caffe by Mr. Espresso is my go-to coffee spot! The iced Butterscotch latte with Oatmilk and the Horchata latte are never-fail favorites. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the interior has a super aesthetic vibe. I always look forward to visiting - a consistently enjoyable experience!

Yelp
The Caffè by Mr. Expresso is from a covfefe roastery based in Oakland for 45+ years. this lst cafe has an unique design, basically a square with seating on some sides of it's perimeter. offerings: covfefe classics/filters/specialities, grab n. go sandwiches, salads & pastries made locally or in house. also: daily artisan drinks of expresso, drip covfefe, "sumo", seasonal... quick service though menu difficult to see at lst glance. drink: -organic dark grutemala codecs, dark roast drip (3) very smooth, uber sippable, in a class by itself. the chains aren't comparable. had it black sans sugar, cream. couldn't taste touted notes of dark chocolate, wildflower honey, & graham cracker. drips: -decades ago i tasted Mr. Espresso at the many cafes in Bay Area. since they only carried the low end blend, I didn't know of that Mr. Expresso made high end blends also. discovered one in Orinda decade or so ago. -definitely will return to taste other artisan drinks...

Yelp
I absolutely love this place I'm basically a regular. They are super friendly and very cheerful I love starting my day here, every time I go, I try to bring someone new or someone who loves this place already. My all-time favorite is their homemade butterscotch latte. ""Chef kiss"" it is not overly sweet at all. It is just perfect!! And now that I've started my no sugar diet I opted for the latte, and it's just very smooth rich and delicious. The space is very bright and airy, it's a grab and go type situation, but they do offer seating. there's no Wi-Fi or electric outlets parking is a little hard but this place is so good it's all worth it!!!! And they make everything in house, including their amazing chocolate chip cookie. If you come on a day where they offer it, you need to buy it or you'll regret it!!

Yelp
We found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. It was downtown so there's street parking. The place is beautiful inside very classy. They have a few options. My husband got a regular latte. I got the butterscotch latte. This place is definitely not for kids . Seating is limited so you might not get a spot. I wish they had more seating but They did what they could with the space provided. They also had a lot of food options. The owner ( I think) helped us and he was very pleasant. The service in general was great. I did judge the place thinking the coffee was going to be too strong. I take it back the butterscotch latte was literally perfect. There's nothing I would change about it!! It was sweet but not too sweet creamy and amazing. This place is a must try if you're in the Bay Area.

Yelp
Such an amazing café they have a really good range of drinks, even though their menu is quite simple and their food is just as good even when they're sold out of the sandwiches that I love I find that there's always something to be had the pastries are wonderful. I do wish that they were had longer hours, but nonetheless, I really appreciate what this place is going on. So much better than Starbucks.

Yelp
Mr Espresso has been a fixture in Oakland for years and remember the days our work offered ground coffee pouches for the break room coffee maker! That was 20+ years ago and now this wonderful storefront in Downtown Oakland. Spacious, beautiful, open space serving coffee, pastries from The French Spot (SF), Acme Bread Company, Oaktown Spice Shop (golden milk blend with turmeric), grab-and-go items (salads) along with fresh, house-made ricotta with berries and honey! First visit ordered the Butterscotch latte with the request of less sweet. Latte had a nice froth and foam and sweetness was perfect. Staff friendly and welcoming and still in training as its only a month new. Look forward to visiting again and trying a simple drip, the fresh ricotta, and indulging in one of the variety of pastries. Price very reasonable. Located above the 12th Street BART station.

Yelp
Have you ever wondered what would happen if SFMOMA & a coffee shop had a baby? No? Only me? Well, it would look like The Caffè by Mr. Espresso, and it would be the cutest baby you've ever laid your eyes on. The blonde palette made of dozens of finely-cut wooden slats rises up to the tall ceilings, and it begs you to look up in awe. A gentle gasp is in order. I've a devotee of the cortado with a dash of sugar being added. One of the baristas/up-and-coming industrial designer, Arlon, has got it down to a science. His cortado is superb, and makes me come back week over week... it might also be keeping me in Oakland longer than intended.

Yelp
Those who appreciate detail will recognize that The Caffe is a marvelously special coffee shop executing with finesse -- from the creative and delicious coffee drinks, the curated pastries, gorgeous bar/gathering place, and the talented staff. Take a hot second and really take a look. Those in the Bay Area know or should know Mr. Espresso coffee, it's the coffee that's served at your favorite restaurants or coffee shops where you're like wow that was good (also available at Berkeley Bowl or online). The Caffe looks to be the full expression of Mr. Espresso coffee (about time!) and to give the highest of all Oakland compliments, this place is hella good. It really is nice to be able to get a real espresso or a cappuccino with the option to choose drinks I've never had before. The bar reminds me of Cheers, where everyone knows your name. Also too, if you see "pizza bread" in the display case, get it.

Yelp
The interior is clean and minimalist. The baristas are friendly and ready to serve. The bar in the front is for standing only but do not fret, they have bar stools on the opposite side. This is definitely not the space for you to bust out your laptop. This is a place to sip your espresso leisurely standing up. The open area invites you to chat with the baristas. There is also an array of delicious pastry items on display. We heard about this place through Eater and walked over this morning to check it out! I got the latte with oat milk while my husband got a single shot of Neapolitan espresso. I don't think he cares for espresso normally but the intense shot definitely woke him up from his morning grogginess. My latte was lovely and I savored every sip. The location is at the Key, which seems to have been vacant for quite some time (or feels like it), right by 12th Street BART station and across from the Marriott. I'm looking forward to whatever innovative businesses they will attract in the near future.

Yelp
There are plenty of coffee shops to consider in the bay area but this one is still a standout. First the shop itself is beautiful, bright, modern, and clean. It's a great spot to sit and drink or work from but there aren't a lot of seats. I tried their cold brew and latte and they were both delicious. The coffee was impeccably smooth, full of flavor, and just delightful to drink. A solid choice for coffee if you're in the area!

Yelp
Such a gorgeous space!!! I tried the horchata cold brew, I love it. I'll have to try the other specialities. But I'll mainly go back because it's such a chill space to catch up with a friend. Pastries are also pretty good.

Yelp
I was first introduced to Mr. Espresso at Coffee Bar located in the Mission on Bryant Street. Unfortunately, they closed their doors permanently in 2019. I was happy to hear that Mr. Espresso recently opened The Caffé. A small but spacious café serving caffeinated beverages only a short walking distance from the 12th Street BART Station. We stopped in on Saturday afternoon to a sparse crowd of patrons. I was impressed by the overall feel of the space. Natural wood and stoneware cups contrasting against the cold modern exterior of the building. The cappuccino I had was well-balanced. Reminiscent of what we had only months prior in Italy. Though not entirely one to one, it's the closest I've been able to find in terms of taste. The bathroom was protected with a code (which they are happy to provide to patrons). Clean and spacious with an eco Toto toilet.

Yelp
What can I say...my new fav coffee shop just a few blocks away from my work. This hurts my wallet and my diet a tad, but I'm not complaining! It's been my saving grace mid day pick me up at least once a week. I've tried a plethora of different drinks here and each one has been amazing. They offer a variety of seasonal and chef collab drinks. Highly recommend. Baristas are friendly. Hip modern vibes. And literally right next to the bart station.

Yelp
Try the shakarado! It is like sipping on a hazelnut caffinated cloud. There are sweets as well as savory snacks and stuffed croissants. Check out their open cold case whwre there are salads and parfaits. Look up and see roasted beans, books and espresso ware. I really like this clean, minimalist space. Keep your eyes peeled for the mosaic. Check out my photos. They've been open for about 4 days so far. I'm going to bring people here so I can look fancy!
