I was attending a conference the past couple days in Oakland, and a few of my coworkers recommended this place to get coffee before we attend. The pastries and coffee definitely caught my attention, so I agreed to try this place out.
If you're taking bart and getting off the 12th street stop, look for the exit signs for Broadway and 11th, because it's literally right across the street. I almost missed it the first day when I was trying to find this coffee shop.
This cafe is super cute! The pastries are behind a cute glass frame where the baristas are, the menu is located on the left side of the cafe where fruit, tea, and other drinks are, and there are a few baristas that will occasionally check for people that want to order.
All the baristas I met were super nice and very inviting! They are super quick to get your order out, and it does help that this space is pretty open. I will say that this place only accepts card from my understanding since they only have square mobile devices. It helps keep the space open without having a huge register in the middle of the coffee bar.
Over the past two days, I ended up getting the following:
-Iced Butterscotch Latte with oat milk $5.50 (this is the regular price but idk if they charge additional for oat milk)
-Horchata Cold Brew $5
-Cold Brew with Sweet Cream $4.50
-Cheddar Scallion Scone $4.50-5
-Citrus Blueberry Muffin $5-6 I believe?
REVIEW OF ALL THE ITEMS I TRIED:
-Iced Butterscotch Latte - this was good! The butterscotch taste was subtle, but you can definitely tell it's there. The caffeine itself was smooth and not too strong. 4/5
-Horchata Cold Brew - this was personally my favorite out of the two days! I really loved the taste of cinnamon and the flavors of horchata throughout. This was not overly sweet, but man you can drink this in a whole setting because that's how good it was. This is already pre-made, so it was quick to come out. 5/5
-Cold Brew with Sweet Cream - in case you don't want to support a big coffee store chain (cough), this is a similar alternative. The cold brew itself was light, and the cream itself was very smooth. I will say that it wasn't as sweet as I though it was. It did pair well with the cold brew to have a nice afternoon pick me up 3.5/5.
-Cheddar Scallion Scone - this was delicious! Super savory with the cheese and the freshness from the bits of scallion embedded throughout. This definitely leaned more savory which is what I enjoyed the most. It was almost like a mix between a scone and a biscuit? It was fluffy inside, but crispy on the outside. Highly recommend trying this out! 4/5
-Citrus Blueberry Muffin - this was good! Super moist and the slight citrus taste did compliment the blueberry. I would say that it definitely didn't feel like it had a dense muffin consistency since it seemed a lot softer and fluffier. Regardless, very delicious! 4/5
I am sad that they ran out of the cream croissants on the second day and I had a chance to get them the first day. I didn't notice them before it was too late. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in Oakland!! I definitely love the horchata cold brew the most, but I'll have to get my hands on the cream croissant (+ other pastries they have!!)
