"Styled to look like a 1950s classroom, Georges Marques’s shop offers hundreds of candies sourced from all over France. It’s kind of an amazing way to take a geography lesson, really, particularly because Georges is happy to lead willing students on a tour of the country’s various candy-producing zones. Everything—from the candied fruits to pastilles to calissons to chocolate—is arranged in old-fashioned apothecary jars."

A lovely confectioner featuring incredible flavored guimauves (marshmallows). The largest and most unique selection of sweets I’ve encountered. The owners are lovely and were happy to answer questions.

A beautiful shop with such a unique range of delicious treats! Highly recommend the heavenly guimaves (?), flavored marshmallows. Absolutely divine, I wish we had bought more for our trip home. And such nice people! Will definitely stop by again next time we are in Paris. ❤️🇫🇷😋

Precious little candy shop. Most of what’s on offer is of the nougat, marshmallow, caramel, and candied fruit variety, so as a confirmed chocoholic I would not typically be charmed. But here I was. Great for gifts!

We are visiting from the states and had to make the trip. Love all of the beautiful candies from all over France. So yummy and beautifully displayed. The real gem was the nice young woman who spoke English for us as we tried to fumble through figuring out what everything was. She was knowledgeable and friendly and patient ! Thank you thank you

Absolutely gorgeous shop. Had so many things I’ve never seen or tried. They were very kind to take the time to walk me through and interpret things to English. I’m so excited to try all the things and sad I can’t stop back again before I go. I believe they do ship to the US but couldn’t tell from site? Would love to know!

We just had our first experience this past week at this wonderful little shop in the 5th Arr. and we are fans for life. The store itself is warm and inviting and the service was excellent. The glacé fruits, pates des fleurs, candied ginger, chocolate covered oranges were all exquisite. With gratitude. Definitely worth the trip. We will return.

Yelp
The most retro sweet shop in Paris! Le Bonbon au Palais sells the traditional sweets from every region in France, many of which I used to eat when I was a kid. George, the owner, knows his stuff by heart and if you ask he will patiently explain the difference between the 4 different types of salted caramels he stocks or the detailed history of each sweet. Of course, it's slightly more expensive than what you'll get from the supermarket but the sweets at Le Bonbon au Palais are so much better you really can't compare them to Haribo's industrial crap! Not to mention you'll also be buying a little piece of French history and nostalgia along with the sugar...

Yelp
What a delightful little shop, well worth the trip! It's within easy walking distance of the Mouffetard district. You may need some help finding out what is in all the fascinating little jars, though there are cards near some explaining what they are. I found all the traditional candies I was familiar with (coussins de Lyon, anis de Flavigny, calissons d'Aix...) and several I wasn't (poppy-flavored lozenges; delightful anise candies based on gum Arabic). It is worth taking the time to have someone explain to you what all the goodies are. (If you love anise, you will love this shop.) The shop doesn't leave much room to maneuver so be prepared - if you come in with large bags you risk knocking something over. We went to La Mere de Famille as well looking for traditional candies, and if you must pick one of the two, come here. The owner is charming and the store is decorated with his Good Conduct - Best in Class - prizes from his school days, a theme which is charmingly carried over into the store's sign, based on a corrected child's dictation paper.

Yelp
It is worth the trip to see this lovely shop and buy its tasty candies. I recommend the violet marshmallows!

Yelp
George is gracious, his candies are beautiful, and there is always something I haven't yet tried. He prepared custom packages of drages for our wedding in New York and they were perfect!
