Yelp
A group of us visited this pub for dinner last Friday. There were 8 of us so we had to split into two tables. As we were in a bit of a hurry, we have already looked at the menu while waiting for a table.
Four of us sat on the booth seating and were given menus. We were all ready to place our order. One of us hollered down a staff who was near our table, asked if she could help us as we were in a bit of a hurry. Another person at our table explained to her why. We placed our food order and drinks at the same time.
The staff (Jennifer?) came back with our drinks. I did not noticed anything, maybe I was too thirsty and busy hydrating myself with the iced tea. Soon I realized our friends' table next to ours received their food when we placed our order first. That was fine, maybe their food was not too complicated to prepare?
Then one of us commented our server just did a fly-by. I like huh? Another one said she was right, he did not noticed early. She then explained the staff was not happy when she returned with her drinks. I started noticing the server really passing by our tables a few times and basically ignoring us. Our friends at the other table were too engrossed in their conversations, they did not noticed we still had not gotten our food when they were already half way through their dinner.
We concluded she did not take it well when one of us got her to help us placed our order. Honestly, I replayed the part right after we got seated, none of us was rude at all. I did not know why the staff did what she did, and either put our ticket in late or did not bring our food out. One of us got frustrated, got up and went to look for a manager. Then I saw him talking to two possibly managers? The server saw our friend talking to the managers, she started bringing out our food. It was really too late. Our friend who went to complain did not want his food anymore. I would be the same too, I do not want my food to be spat upon.
Then later one of the managers Brad came with our friend's food and told him he personally packed it so it would be good. Brad was the only saving grace in this horrendous experience. He was apologetic and said the staff would not be coming to our table, she has been spoken to and hopefully she would not repeat the same mistake.
Honestly, I do not have that much faith in that. We were not rude or demanding at all. We just asked if she could help us to place an order and explained to her we were in a hurry. So why such an awful attitude towards us? Cos we definitely do not look like we were from around the area?
My sliders were fine. Cos of the delay, I could only ate one. Remember we had to rush off somewhere? I packed the other two to go. Brad comped my friend's entree and my moon pie dessert. The dessert was amazing!! I ate that when I got back into the hotel.
Needless to say, none of us left a tip for the server. She did not deserve a single penny from us for her lousy attitude. In addition, as a result of her unprofessional and poor service, her employer had a one star review from me and the restaurant felt so bad as to comp an entrée and a dessert.
Whether our server was simply discriminating us or she simply wanted to teach us a lesson for asking her to take our order, I hope she learned her lesson. It was so unnecessary. If she still not learned a thing or two, I would advise her to quit being in a service industry. She can then be a princess somewhere and can flex her power on others. I sure love to see that happening!! Lol!!
