I really enjoyed the food. My server Jasmine was great. I didn’t like how small the venue really was. It didn’t appear as advertised on instagram. I went for the Christmas vibes and it was a bit underwhelming. I would love to go back during the summer. My friend said the rooftop was nice so it would’ve been cool if they had sealed the top with the same material they created the igloos with. I had the shrimp tempura roll, the shrimp tacos and the mistletoe margarita and I loved it.

The Cape Restaurant at Avalon: The Cape boasts excellent food. The festive holiday touches, peppermint espresso martini, and the curry beef crepe with hollandaise sauce and classic french fries were all delightful. The flavors were well-balanced and the presentation was appealing. However, the service left something to be desired. Several staff members walked past me without a greeting or a check-in, which felt a bit pretentious and inattentive. Overall: Despite the service shortcomings, the delicious food makes The Cape worth a visit. I recommend trying the curry beef crepe( bobotie). Ciao🌺

They helped me celebrate my daughter’s birthday! I requested roof top and they had everything ready including the heaters! They let me decorate as I pleased. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious. I love this place for a creative atmosphere and delicious drinks! Thank you The Cape!

I ordered the Sosaties (Filet Minon and rice) to go. This was the serving size they gave me for $20 (pictured). Someone at my table ordered a non alcoholic beverage to go and it came in a cup the size of a mouthwash cup. The sushi rolls and drink were fine. The food is overpriced for the serving size. We asked for a heated igloo. We were not informed that the igloo zipper to the door was broken. We were outside and it was 40° out. There were two heaters inside the igloo and they were both the size of the palm of my hand. It was cold. We asked to be relocated inside. They should let customers know this ahead of time and let them decide if they want to sit outside or not. We could have just sat outside on a park bench if we wanted to be cold. Will NEVER return to this restaurant again.

The Cape, located in the Avalon, was perfect for a meetup with friends! We visited over Valentine's weekend, and the ambiance was brimming with love-themed decor. The intimate atmosphere is accentuated by its exquisite decorations. Whether you're in a small group or a larger one, there's ample seating available alongside a fully stocked bar. The service was excellent. The host promptly greeted us, retrieved my reservation, and seated our party of four. Our server was also very courteous and attentive throughout our meal. Arriving around lunchtime, we opted for a selection of fries, sushi rolls, Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts, all of which proved equally satisfying. For my main course, I chose the tacos accompanied by coconut rice. The portion size was generous; I could only finish one of the two tacos on my platter. A couple of additional points to note: this establishment offers a gender-neutral restroom, and the signature candle of The Cape adds a distinctive touch. Furthermore, the presence of a free parking deck in the plaza is a convenient perk.

4 of us headed out on a frigid night to try The Cape. None of us had been before so didn't expect much. First of all our server, Avery, was AMAZING! She was behind the bar and serving us. I asked for a Hugo Spritz and she made it exactly the way I wanted! So good that I had 2! We started off with the Baked Brie which warm and so creamy and the Hummus plate. Full of flavor and the perfect way to start the evening. I had the roasted beet salad and it was beautiful to look at and even better tasting. Two of us got Salmon and 2 got the Halibut. Not a morsel was left. I was pleasantly surprised by everything this restaurant has to offer. We will be back!!

This is my second time dining here, and this visit was for the holiday pop-up. The food was just as delicious as I remembered, and the service was outstanding. I loved the variety of festive holiday drinks, and the decor really captured the holiday spirit.

Love the atmosphere but felt the menu needed more variety. Waitress was nice. Food was good.

Yelp
I recommend Cape for almost any occasion--whether it's a date night, business dinner, or a meal with family. The restaurant offers great kids' meal options, and the service is exceptional--friendly, patient, and attentive. The space is currently decorated for the holidays, and there are cozy igloos outside for dining in the colder weather. The Popcorn and Tuna Tartare were standout appetizers. The Kale & Quinoa Salad with Asian flavors was excellent, and you can add salmon, shrimp, chicken, or tuna to make it a heartier dish. The Lemon Artichoke Arugula Salad was bright and refreshing. The crepes are a real highlight--perfect as an appetizer or to pair with a main dish or salad. The Curry Cauliflower was another favorite and definitely worth trying." This version tightens up the language and adds a bit more flow for readability.

Yelp
Came here for valentines and got their prefixed course that they offered for that day. Service was good. She refill our water a lot every-time it was almost gone. I would say the main course was probably the best out of the appetizer and dessert they had. The drinks were okay as well. Im not sure if I need to try this place out on a regular day but I say the food we ate this day was alright at most. Ambiance wise I can see the beach bar vibe but not really.. and looks like this place is still in a Christmas spirit.

Megan F.

Yelp
We went to dine in an igloo. It was cute but a little cold. The food was great. We ended up getting two orders of the Brie it was so good. The service was great. I would I'm again

Mamta K.

Yelp
Cape at the Avalon is back with their festive Christmas pop-up, and we had the pleasure of visiting on opening night! From stunning holiday décor and themed cocktails to a multi-cuisine menu and beautifully lit igloos (my personal favorite!), this spot is the ultimate destination in Avalon for a girls' night out or a cozy date night. Here's what we tried: * The Mistletoe Margarita * The Chalet Cowboy * Chicken Piccata * Veggie Sushi * Crab Dip with Pita Chips We got lovely service in our igloos If you love all things Christmas and want to get into the festive spirit, don't miss Cape at the Avalon!

Kerrah C.

Yelp
The experience wasn't worth it. I could've went to South City Kitchen or Superica. We chose this restaurant because it's popular on IG for a holiday pop up theme. The decor was underwhelming. Instagram can make anything look good. They didn't take down any of the regular beach decor so having that mixed in was weird. Depending on where you sit, you might find yourself constantly being hit by a candy cane because they hang super low. Our server was trash. He was uninterested and absent. However, I watched him be hyper attentive to other tables. I originally ordered the steak. It had no seasoning. It tasted like cooked liver. The drinks were cute however, overall it was a poor experience. I wish I could get my money and time back.

Yelp
Located in Avalon you'll find this very charming restaurant in the middle of the shops at Avalon. It's located on the side near The Hotel, Apple Store and Rumis Kitchen. Service is as expected - it's good. Menu Selection is nice although they do not offer a lunch menu. It is good however pricy for lunch. Lunch for two was $80 - no beverage - no starter - no appetizer- no dessert. Just two lunches. No leftovers! Bang for buck is better at Rumis Kitchen but it's still a cute spot. They have a rooftop which was not opened. It's a cute date spot or girlfriend lunch place. We noticed some older men with younger women. Caesar Salad with Grilled Salmon: Very good. The house made dressing is delicious. Halibut with Broccolini & Coconut Rice : Very good with a mild red curry sauce.

Yelp
While in Alpharetta recently, I stumbled across this little gem located in the Avalon and absolutely had to share the experience. The Cape is a chic coastal dining restaurant inspired by cuisine & wines from Cape Town, South Africa. They are open seven days a week, offering indoor and outdoor dining options. The rooftop patio features views of the entire boulevard and inside The Cape's main dining room is surrounded by colorful textured pillows, custom surf boards, and hanging botanicals that span across the ceiling; all designed to transport guests to a chic beach bungalow. Service was excellent and the food was superb. I'd recommend booking a reservation in advance and adding a bookmark for this restaurant. It's a unique experience not worth missing out on. I look forward to my next trip to GA just so I can go back and sample more of their menu offerings.

Yelp
Greeted warmly for lunch. Not overly crowded, nice chill vibe inside, and was seated at a nice table for 2 by the window. Mikala was our server...friendly, menu knowledgeable, and attentive. Ordered the Frittura Mista for a stater. Great taste and mix of lightly breaded halibut, calamari, and shrimp, and caper berries. Entrees ordered were the halibut and coconut rice with curry sauce and the fish sandwich combo. Both orders were delicious and came with tasty sauces. Spouse had a glass of their house Pinot Noir (Yobo) that she really liked. Great experience, will return, and would recommend this nice little place for a lunch or dinner date.

Candace H.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant! Great if you're looking to try out a different type of cuisine and good drinks. For my entree I ordered the ostrich bolognese. It was delicious, seasoned well, and a large portion. The bobotie crepes and the frittura mista( fried halibut, calamari, and prawns) were ok but I've had better at the other South African restaurants.

Ishara F.

Yelp
I forgot the name of the cocktails we had but they were pretty good (Valentine's Day special cocktails not on the regular menu maybe). Food was not bad. Ostrich sliders were a bit salty. Unsure if the price was worth it. Our waiter was really really nice. We sat in the cute bubbles setup outside. Just be lucky enough that you do not have to share a bubble with a table full of drunk girls screaming everything they have to say at each other though.

Yelp
So late with my review but I LOVED MY VISIT HERE last month. Great food, quick yet attentive staff/service, and very cute decor. Perfect for GNO, solo dates, happy hours with colleagues, and/or simple dates.

JL S.

Yelp
Nice ambiance with a winter theme. The pandemic era plastic igloos at one end of the building disguise the entrance. Once inside I found everything just right. Hen parties with life coaches were definitely in motion, though. Hello Karens. Server was very responsive with drink orders. Our business group enjoyed family style servings of hummus, crepes, salmon and ravioli. Every dish was delicious. Winter cocktails were great too.

Porschia E.

Yelp
I love the upscale coastal décor but it still feels comfortable. The décor is clean and fresh but eclectic with lots of color. I've visited The Cape twice and the staff is always nice and willing to share their favorite dishes. I've tried a lot of dishes so here we go: Tuna tataki- The tuna is fresh and the dish had a nice hit of acid I appreciated Crab dip- Nice and creamy and I love the choice of gruyere cheese Mussels- Mussels can get pretty basic so I won't say I loved them but the sauce had a really nice flavor Ostrich sliders- This may be the one dish I didn't care for. It needed a little more flavor and the ostrich was dry Hummus- One of the best I've had Spicy tuna sushi roll- I didn't care for the sriracha but it's a good roll Scottish grilled salmon- Sooo good and the addition of the capers and olives give it a Mediterranean flavor that I loved. This restaurant isn't close to me but I don't mind the drive for this kind of food and service.

Yelp
As soon as I viewed their pink Christmas theme on IG, I knew I had to visit. I made reservations through Open Table for indoor seating. The igloo option was also available at the time for outdoor dining. The restaurant is close to Apple Store and Rumis, I recommend parking in the garage closest to the hotel and Starbucks. It's a very short walk. Restaurant was tastefully decorated and absolutely beautiful. Best decorated Christmas pop-up, in my opinion. Mikaila was our server and provided excellent service and assisted with recommendations. I wasn't completely satisfied with my meal, it was so-so. Frittura Mista wasn't seasoned and had no flavor $18, Classic Caesar Salad was good but needed more dressing  and pepper $12, crab dip was bland $16. I did take the dip home and season it with creole spices, and it was yummy. Although I didn't enjoy my meal, my friend liked her hummus appetizer and said the mussels were perfect. I guess I ordered the wrong items, or my taste buds were still off from being sick earlier in the month. The food was a 3 for me, and service was a 5. Since my friend enjoyed her meal, I'll rate this 4. I would also return again and try different items. Maybe I'll come back for their Valentines Day pop-up.

Yelp
The food was delicious! We had a great time dining at Cape restaurant. The service was amazing. The ambiance was very unique and beautiful. We would definitely come back!

Grace M.

Yelp
I have been wanting to check this out and what better way than for their pink Christmas! Reservation was easily made online. Parking at the Avalon is always hit or miss and it was quite busy during the holiday. The Cape is located close to the Apple Store. I was seated right away while I waited for my friends and we were right by a pink Christmas tree! I love how pink it was decorated inside. It was really festive and of course they had some Christmas themed drinks. We ended up ordering a bottle of the sparkling rosé and it was so bubbly and yummy. We also split a handful of sides and they were all delicious! I love the crunchy shrimp roll. The dressing for the grain bowl was so good!! And the frittata mista was filled with lovely seafood that's been fried. The only one I didn't really enjoy was the crab dip. The pita chips were too oily and maybe too thick and therefore wasn't crunchy, but soggy in a way. The service was great and it was so busy. It was a nice visit and would definitely come back again.

Yelp
I was visiting Alpharetta, GA on a business trip and this restaurant in Avalon The Cape is located across the street from the Marriot. The friendly employees immediately noticed my accent and offered me Bilton. (South African Beef Jerky - but 100000x better) The Bilton was amazing. Just like home:) I had the Peri-Peri Shrimp Tacos. It was incredible. WOW! Hopefully I will be back in Atlanta soon, and I will visit your other restaurants

Meredith A.

Yelp
The Cape is one of my go-to spots for girls night out! It's well decorated, has great outdoor seating options (patio plus rooftop seating!), and consistently good food. Order the biltong or charcuterie to start! We went with charcuterie this time, and it didn't disappoint. We also had the crepes, which have a nice, unique flavor. The spicy sushi is my favorite thing on the menu, so of course I ordered that as well. It has a nice kick without being too spicy! As for drinks, I got the frozen espresso martini which is creamy, sweet, and strong! The servers were kind and attentive. We sat on the front patio and the weather was perfect. Will definitely be back!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I love The Cape. Went for a quick lunch with my family. We had fritto misto, Caesar salad, kale salad, asparagus soup. Everything good. I was craving a small dessert however unfortunately they did not have any which is surprising especially on a Saturday. No big deal, but something to look into. Service was perfect. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. The ambience is always very pleasing! Love their colors!

Leona C.

Yelp
Loved the service, the food and the atmosphere!!! Definitely will be back... and bringing others!!!

Yelp
I recently visited this restaurant with high hopes, as our previous experience had been fantastic. Unfortunately, this time around was a complete disappointment from start to finish. We arrived for our reservation and were taken to the rooftop, expecting a pleasant atmosphere. To our surprise, there was absolutely no ambiance--no music, no TV, just an empty and lifeless space. The waiter greeted us and proceeded to serve water in a dirty glass. When we pointed this out, he didn't apologize. Instead, he poured the water from the dirty glass into a clean one, which left us feeling uneasy. After we placed our order for drinks, appetizers, and entrées, we sat there for 20 minutes without seeing anyone--no waiter, no other guests, nothing. It was just us, sitting in silence on an empty rooftop with no service whatsoever. This was a complete 360 from our original experience, which was the reason we returned in the first place. Needless to say, we were highly disappointed and won't be coming back. Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 1/5

Azin K.

Yelp
Our server Erick was absolutely amazing and so professional. He took really good care of us. We started with cocktails and the shrimp tempura roll. Super fresh and delicious. I ordered the red snapper and it was so so good. Their seafood is super fresh and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend trying this place. The decor is really cute!

Najah H.

Yelp
Before wrapping up our staycation we popped into this lovely spot that's in the middle of the Avalon by the hotel. I was looking forward to biltong and so happy we tried it! We weren't staying long but did a Sunday snack and cocktails. The charcuterie board hit the spot to sample a mixture of their offerings. We also had been sipping Tequila most of the day so stuck with that. Our server was helpful, fast and attentive. There were only four people upstairs so we felt like we got amazing service. Biltong def.: is a form of dried, cured meat which originated in Southern African countries (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia). Various types of meat are used to produce it, ranging from beef to game meats such as ostrich or kudu. The cut may also vary being either fillets of meat cut into strips following the grain of the muscle, or flat pieces sliced across the grain. It is related to beef jerky; When I visited S. Africa this was like a delicacy at the supermarket and served during our safari excursion. I really love it! I can't wait to come back and try more dishes on their menu like ostrich sliders, mussels and halibut.

Mya H.

Yelp
I had been seeing this restaurant a lot on social media and when I found out it was a sister restaurant to Yebo Beach House, I knew it was going to be good! My friend and I came here for dinner on a Friday night and sat on the rooftop which is beautifully decorated. For drinks we had the Cheeky Peach, a top selling drink which did not disappoint. For apps, we had the hummus and pita bread and the french fries which came with curry ketchup and a lemon aioli sauce. Both apps were delicious especially the fries with both sauces. The fries were very well seasoned. For dinner I had the lambchops with broccolini instead of carrots. Highly recommend the lambchops! The only thing I did not like was the potatoes that it came with. It tasted like it didn't have any seasoning. Overall, I highly recommend The Cape. This will definitely be a go to spot when I am in Alpharetta.

Karen R.

Yelp
My husband and I have dined here a few times now. We stumbled in one day just to try it out. We were beyond pleasantly surprised. We like a couple of restaurants in Avalon, but many of them just seem to be lacking (effort from staff, food, cleanliness etc). The Cape and its staff always make us feel welcome and like they are truly happy to have us in. That is an art that so many places lack nowadays. We appreciate all of their attention and effort that they make. We decided to eat upstairs and were told that they add gratuity to your bill automatically. As a former server from years ago, I don't have a problem with this. They are running up and down those stairs all night long. Carrying drinks and meals. The whole time we were waited on (every time we have been here), our servers are always so friendly and willing to answer our questions and offer suggestions as to what their favorites are. Our delicious drinks came out in a timely manner. Our drinks, a Paloma (which was excellently balanced, not on the sweet side, exactly how I prefer them) and an Old Fashioned. Which must have been delicious because he ordered a second! Followed by appetizers (shrimp ceviche, spicy tuna roll and bobotie crepes). The ceviche was outstanding. The chunks of fresh coconut, tomatoes and avocado (and some kind of little pepper with a snappy little bite) all perfectly played against one another! It was a perfectly balanced bite! The spicy tuna roll was of course so good. Not the star of our table though. The bobotie crepes were such a fantastic surprise. My husband enjoyed them so much. The crepes were delicate, yet they held the hardy combination of ground beef, raisins, spices and sauce wonderfully. They were a sweet and savory experience. Then on to entrees. I had the halibut with curry on coconut rice. Oh my heavens! Amazing! The fish was cooked to perfection. It flaked into thee best little bites, snuggled next to the rice (which honestly, I would have been tickled to have just a big ole bowl of the rice and sauce! That was for me, my favorite along with the ceviche). I didn't get to try my broccolini because at this point, I was so full from our appetizers and my entree (very happily satiated! But in the best kind of "I'm full" way! I didn't feel heavy or stuffed or uncomfortable like I would have if I ate the same amount elsewhere. That to me is such a testament as to How they are preparing our food. Simple fresh food prepared deliciously!). Let's not forget my husbands steak and frites with the chimichanga sauce. He's not one to get excited about food like I do. He did however, on his own accord use the words "outstanding" for his steak. It was cooked brilliantly medium rare. The chimichanga sauce was delicious (he popped some of that on my rice and it was so fresh tasting!). We always order dessert, but I was such a glutton with my appetizers and rice that I couldn't even think about coffee (we will have to go back and eat backwards next time! Pretty sure I said that the last time we were there). I don't know how to wrap this up! Other than we highly recommend The Cape. Oh and their bathrooms were so tidy and clean as well as the balcony and inside of the restaurant. Having a balcony open, it can get hectic but they managed a full balcony of tables (big and small parties) efficiently and always with pleasant demeanors. I do recommend that if you are eating inside that you take a little jacket or sweater (it feels amazing, but it can be a touch cold). Can't wait to go back! Definitely try The Cape if you haven't been. You will so enjoy your experience there! I hope you love it as much as we do! On a side note, I don't remember exactly what we ordered the last time we were there, except the spinach salad! And we both remember it and said at the time we were eating it, that it was hands down thee best spinach salad we had ever eaten. It was so well balanced. Crunchy. Salty sweet. Delicious dressing! Just a wonderful salad!!

Jason W.

Yelp
We were impressed with the various and attractive choices of appetizers so decided to order a bunch of them plus two main courses to serve in tapas style. It proved our decision was correct. Sosatie is a typical South African dish. The rice is flavorful. I would highly recommend it. Our waiter Robby knows all the dishes well and gave us great suggestions. We wouldn't have tried some of them if without his recommendation. The restaurant now is permeated with Christmas atmosphere, very sweet

Erica K.

Yelp
I met a friend for lunch and we decided to sit at the bar. I had a reservation but didn't really need it, the restaurant had a few empty seats and it was a Friday around 12:30. The bartender was lovely, good attitude and friendly. She assisted my friend with his order by making some recommendations since he had never dined there before. I kept it pretty simple and ordered a salad with salmon as my protein. And he ordered the spicy tuna rol with bobotie crepes which I heard are amazing but I will never know due to my gluten allergy. I love that they didn't drown my salad in dressing and the salmon was prepared medium. My friend liked his dish as well. My fav part is always the frozen espresso martini which I had after a glass of wine. I never thought I would drink another frozen drink after getting deathly sick for a frozen Pima colado ages ago in Puerto Rico but so far I've been fine with these espresso martinis. Back to the restaurant, they have outdoor seating ground level and on the roof. There is plenty of seating indoors as well. The restrooms are clean and a bit dimmed but I was able to see just fine. Nice spot to go to for lunch, dinner or drinks as a date or girls outing

Sydney B.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of seafood, so we've never ventured into the Cape before. But, these little outdoor bubbles were just so cute, we had to go try it out after we'd already had our dinner and seen a movie while out at Avalon. The bubbles hold 2 tables, so you're not entirely secluded, but it really is a nice vibe for a date night. Of course, it was my son and I, so we were there for the experience, not romance... but I can see this as a great romantic spot. The drink menu is definitely packed with signature drinks. I had a great margarita and espresso martini, and both were scrumptious. My (adult) son opted for the hot tea and enjoyed the experience as well. We then shared the most fantastic dessert. I think it was the chocolate torte. It was so light and fluffy, not at all heavy or overly rich. It was a wonderful after-dinner dessert. Even without the actual meal/main course, this was a great experience. The price tag added up quickly, but it IS Avalon, so I assume people expect to pay $$$ for the environment and experience. I won't have it on my "frequent" list, but I will definitely recommend and return for a dessert or drink.

bob k.

Yelp
Besides being a nice place inside, I'm not sure what the appeal is. It's very bland as far as the atmosphere and everything is expensive. I know everything is expensive these days but, other places offer a better experience. The food is decent however, other places in Avalon have better food. Barley garden just down the street is a better time. Have a feeling this place won't last long

Amritha J.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this one for some time, and finally made it out for their holiday candyland experience. First- love the ambiance and outdoor decor. Makes for a great special evening - date night, light celebrations or special get together with friends. We started with some holiday-themed cocktails. The peppermint espresso martini was lovely! Smooth to drink but gave just the right lift. We were impressed by the range of vegetarian options and couldn't resist the apps- the creamy wild mushroom soup a stole the show. We also got the hummus and veggies - delicious. Curry cauliflower was cooked well and the curry sauce offered a great burst of flavors. Brussels sprouts remained crispy through our meal and the peri peri sauce was a perfect dip for it. Overall great night and food. Can't wait to come back for a full dinner.

Jessica L.

Yelp
The mussels were good. Heavy coconut milk flavor and needed a hint of salt l. The crab dip was good. The give you a decent amount and you can taste plenty of crab in every bite. The fried snapper was delicious. I love the peri peri sauce it came with. The steak frites my daughter had looked good and she said it tasted good. She says the fries were good and the salad it came with was dressed nicely. The passion fruit juice was good but way too sweet for my liking. My husband said his halibut was good. The restaurant wasn't very busy at the time we went and everyone was friendly. I would go back.

Helena M.

Yelp
Was so excited to try this restaurant as I've already tried their sister restaurant Yebo Beach Haus and loved it! The Cape Restaurant and Beach Bar is located in the Avalon with the cutest decor. We made a reservation for Mothers Day for 430 and the restaurant was rather slow which was a benefit. For starters, we ordered the crab dip and friturra mista and both were fan favorites. It was a group of four of us and both appetizers were easily shared amongst us easily. I would definitely recommend the crab dip, it was 10/10! I ordered the Cheeky Peach to drink. It was actually strong but very nice. I would recommend having a driver if you are intending on drinking more than one of these lol. For $14 I'm not mad at it! Comparable to the taste of a mimosa. The presentation was absolutely stunning as well! I ordered the halibut as a main course and I absolutely enjoyed it. The portion size wasn't extensive but very filling especially when paired with an appetizer. It had a very fresh and clean taste to it, not over-spiced or over cooked. My brother got the peri peri tacos which came with a side of rice and he enjoyed those as well! Overall, I definitely enjoyed my experience here. Such a nice place and I'm looking forward to coming back and sitting on the balcony. A nice place to bring a date or a friend!

Luci M.

Yelp
Unique restaurant with great atmosphere in a fun area. Food was great and very flavorful. Service was a little slow but the server was very nice and made good recommendations. We were there with a big party on a Monday night and unfortunately they were out of a lot of the menu items and some beers. The server gave some different options which didn't disappoint.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at The Cape! Since they don't have any vegan options listed on the menu, I wasn't expecting to enjoy my modified meal. BUT wow! I got the tacos -- typically they come with prawns, but they made me veggie tacos instead. The vegetables were full of flavor!!! And I swapped the aioli (which has dairy) with the coconut sauce (dairy free), which is super yummy! Even the rice was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The service was great too. Andre took good care of us on the rooftop. He was friendly and always right there -- we never had to look for him. The restaurant has a nice floral decor. It has a garden feel with a touch of elegance. There are a couple of instagramable backdrops too. I'm excited to go back!

Yelp
Really nice atmosphere, especially in warm weather (we are outdoors on the second floor and loved it). They have a lot of natural light even if you don't sit outdoors. The ostrich pappardelle was rich and delicious, and I think our server was Christian! Shoutout to him. We'll be back

Yelp
First time and it was a great experience! Service- wonderful! The server was very patent and friendly! Food- tried the sesame kale and grain bowl- it was very good! The vegetarian options are limited on the menu however, the grain bowl and salads and sides had good options! Atmosphere- went during the popup "love struck" theme. It was super cute!! Loved the ambiance and a great place for cute instagram photos. Parking- free at Avalon in the parking decks. It's just a short walk away!

Yelp
Made a reservation for 4 for 8pm for a galentines night out. I had never been and navigation takes you right to it. It's located in the Avalon and very easy to find. There is a parking deck very close by and is free. We arrived about ten minutes early and only half our party was there. The hostess greeted us right away and sat us without having everyone there. Right now it is decorated for Valentine's Day and is just the right amount. It's not like valentines threw up in there. there is a menu right now that has some specialty valentine themed cocktails and the server made great recommendation's. I had the froze and la vie en rose and they were both flavorful and not too sweet! For appetizers, we had the crab dip and charcuterie and we ate every bit of it. Highly recommend the crab dip. I could have ordered more if I wasn't going to order an entree. I had the peri peri shrimp tacos which had a great flavor combination and a bit of a spicy kick which I loved. Our server was friendly and attentive and made sure to check on us several times and our water glasses were always full. I am already looking for when I can go back again.

Yelp
Was so excited to finally try The Cape as the reviews for this place has consistently been outstanding! We were excited to try the red snapper as it seems as if customers love this dish however to our dismay they were out and hubby and I sat there sad...very sad. Staring at the small menu we didn't know what we should order as we felt our culinary dream was crushed. Ok yes we were being overly dramatic but you know that feeling when you are craving something and then when it doesn't happen the let down is HUGE! Anywho...Mikayla our waitress was so kind, understanding, and most importantly PATIENT with our next decision that she comped our next beverage. Nice touch! I ended up ordering the lamb chops with the potatoes and sweet carrots it was excellently executed and the taste was amazing. Hubby opted for 2 sushi rolls which he also enjoyed. I ended the night with a cup of honey bush tea made from South Africa and it was heavenly! So much that I purchased a case to take home. Hubby had the pina colada and we laughed at how tiny the glass was but his surprise it was small but mighty! It packed a punch if you know what I mean! LOL Such a cute place can't wait to come back to try the snapper!

Yelp
Service and staff very uncaring the food was over cooked. The food order was left in the service window for 15 minutes before we received so it was cold.

Yelp
My family has been here a number of times, but tonight was my first visit to The Cape Restaurant and Beach Bar at the Avalon. We started by sharing the charcuterie board. It was a unique mixture of meats, cheeses, crackers, and miniature pickles. Our server, Logan was really amazing. First, she was super attentive. Second, she gave excellent recommendations. Logan recommended the Bobotie crêpes. They tasted light, fresh and very flavorful. This was my first time trying South African cuisine, and I noticed nearly every dish had at least a touch of heat and spice. One of my daughters had the halibut, and the other daughter had a salad with blackened chicken. Both the halibut and chicken were well seasoned and tasted slightly savory. The only reason I am not giving five stars is because most of the entrées were a little too pricey for me. I understand it's located at the Avalon, and this you can typically expect to pay more. I'll definitely consider returning to have the crêpes at least one more time. Cheers or as they say in South Africa, Pleasure!

Yelp
I came here on a Friday at around 7:30. My friends and I decided to meet up at the Avalon, but we didn't make any set dinner plans. We thankfully came across this lovely restaurant, and were able to quickly get a table without having a reservation. This place is absolutely picturesque with all of the earthy decor! The staff were extremely warm and welcoming, and our server was super helpful, patient, and attentive. As for the food, my friends and I shared the appetizers. We absolutely loved the crab dip and the shrimp tempura rolls were a close second. I didn't particularly care for the spicy tuna roll as I've had better, but that was quite alright. I almost ordered the lamb chops, but a lady at a table nearby told us that hers was "just okay", so I opted for the Bolognese which has ostrich meat. It was insanely flavorful and super creamy. My friends loved their Filet Mignon and Peri-Peri prawns taco. All in all, this place was an absolute 10/10! I would love to come back and try their roof top bar when it gets a bit warmer out!

Yelp
We came during December because of their Christmas pop up. It's located in the Avalon. Parking was easy in the parking garage. Valet is also available nearby. We shared mussels, crab dip and fritura mista from the appetizers menu. Every dish was great. We asked for more chips and bread for the dip and the mussels. The sauce on the mussels is so good, you want to finish it all with the bread. The drinks were good but it took a while to get them. We came during lunch time. Our server was helpful making recommendations. I would definitely come back. I want to come and sit on the rooftop bar.

Yelp
This is a cute, nice place that currently has really pretty holiday decor and a popup holiday drinks menu. I came here for a girls night and we shared a lot of the appetizers as well as the halibut and bolognese entree. All the food was yummy, well flavored and spiced. I especially enjoyed the crab dip, curried cauliflower, and crepes. The halibut and bolognese were good but didn't stand out as much as the appetizers. I'm not very well versed in South African cuisine so it was a great experience trying flavors that I don't usually have. The holiday cocktails were also very good and strong - the hot toddy really hit the spot on a cold night and my friends enjoyed their cocktails as well. We ran into a few hitches with the service - my friend asked for hot sauce and ended up getting something from their "sauces" menu which were $2 (despite none of them being labeled hot sauce), and they charged us without letting us know. They were also a little slow, and I didn't get one of my drinks for about 15 minutes after we had gotten the bill already.

Yelp
An elegant and colorful spot on the edge of Avalon, The Cape is a great spot to grab a drink and apps. With well-lit, clean, and bright decor, in the afternoon with the sun shining, it is an oasis from shopping. The Cape serves beautifully plated South African dishes. They are one of the only places to get Biltong, a special South African Beef Jerky. You can enjoy a few varieties as an appetizer and take some home with you! Everything here is savory and unique with a hint of spice, with specialty South African flavors like Peri-Peri, curry and coconut, and grilled meats. The Cape also offers ostrich meats, which come in 2 forms: Ostrich sliders and an Ostrich Ragu with pasta. My drink, Cheeky Beach, was garnished with a beautiful orchid flower and was a refreshing option. The cocktail list is fruity and balanced, with many new flavors to choose from. At The Cape, the service is friendly and active. This spot is a great place to nosh on some good, unique, and savory bites.

Yelp
Excellent service and food. Salmon and Halibut were excellent. The popcorn is addictive. Will definitely return to try more menu selections.

Yelp
Extra, Extra Yelp All About It!!!! This place is amaze balls all around. Cape is located in the Avalon district plaza and instead of hopefully trying to get a good parking spot on the street, I'd suggest the parking garage. Me and my sister decided on a little impromptu lunch vibe today and this has definitely made our go to spot list. They have a no fuss menu with delightful drinks and did I mention the drinks. We sat on the roof top where you can people watch and just kick back and enjoy the food, conversation and scenery.

Yelp
It was dead when we went but the appetizers were delicious! We stopped here first while we were waiting for our reservation at another spot.

Yelp
We've been wanting to try The Cape for a while and finally went with a friend for her birthday. Our server, Andres, was wonderful! When we asked about African red wine ( ... when in Rome), he suggested the Kanonkop Pinotage which I loved. I asked about the ostrich meat in some entrees, and Andres suggested the sliders and the Bolognese. I went with the Ostrich Bolognese, which was delicious - the ostrich meat was seasoned well and the pasta thick and al dente. My husband cleaned his plate of the Caperberry Chicken Piccata and my friend, who has eaten here several times, ordered her favorite, Peri Peri Prawn Tacos. And when we ordered a chocolate torte for dessert to share, Andres added a lit candle for our celebration. Great service, great food, can't wait to return!
