Yelp
I've passed by this restaurant all the time before and always assumed it was overpriced and a bit touristy, especially for being on Newbury St. However, my partner and I gave it a chance on a Friday night. We were worried we'd have to wait since we didn't make a reservation, but they seated us immediately at one of the nicest tables upstairs. With a balcony view of the street below, it was a super nice and romantic spot to enjoy our meal. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but we ended up ordering a boozy milkshake (Irish coffee flavored) and two burgers. We were planning to split the milkshake, so when our server heard that she brought us an extra glass and extra whipped cream, which I thought was really nice and above and beyond what most servers would do. Although I couldn't taste the alcohol too much, it was really tasty and not overly sweet.
After about 20 minutes, our burgers arrived at our table. We ordered the mushroom/swiss burger and the Capital burger. When I tell you the portions here are MASSIVE, I'm not exaggerating! The burgers themselves were huge and absolutely stacked with toppings. The portion of the fries were also amazing... I feel like most restaurants skimp out on this sort of thing but Capital Burger really was giving us our money's worth and more. I also could not get over the taste of these burgers, honestly they were probably my favorite in Boston that I've had so far. The mushroom one was so meaty, tender, and garlicy in the most perfect ways - definitely my favorite and would order it again in a heartbeat. The Capital Burger was excellent too, and almost reminded us of french onion soup but in burger form.
I cannot wait to revisit this restaurant, and I'm so upset I didn't try it sooner!
