13 Essential Twin Cities Steakhouses

"A national steakhouse chain located on Hennepin Ave in downtown Minneapolis, The Capital Grille has been a popular happy hour and dinner choice for years. The steak tartare here is briny and rich, while the filet mignon makes for an excellent classic entree — add creamed spinach or mashed potatoes as a side." - Ryan Meaney, Eater Staff

I went with the steak they cooked it perfectly nice and juicy and very tender!!! My wife’s dish didn’t disappoint either the chicken was delicious!!! Definitely stopping in next time we are in the Twin Cities

Visited about a week ago. From beginning to end, my experience here was exceptional. The reservation process was easy, and the wait was short despite the busy dinner service. My date and I were given a very detailed description of the menu and specials for the evening. My drink was so well made I could not compliment it enough. Every course served complimented the next. I would provide more specific details, but there's only so much space in this text box time and to type it. My return trip to Minneapolis will include another dinner here.

If you go ask for Diego! Without a doubt my best dining experience at any Capital Grille ever. Crotinis, dessert samples, chocolates, cappuccino! No detail was missed even a warm towel to wipe our hands at the end of the meal. Thank you for an amazing time truly unforgettable.

Absolutely amazing experience. **Be prepared to spend money that is WELL worth it** My girlfriend and I chose The Capital Grille for our 7 year anniversary. We were lead to a quiet booth that they had set up with rose petals. The dirty martini was made well and they had 5 or 6 options for champagne. Girlfriend had the scallops, I had the pan sears tuna. Both were DELICIOUS! Perfect portion sizes in my opinion, we both almost finished because it was so tasty, but were too full to clean the plate (I prefer this over being left wanting more). As we were getting ready to close out, we were surprised with a desert plate that read “Happy Anniversary.” Suddenly our stomachs made space and thank god they did. Hands down the best cheesecake I have ever had. Service throughout the evening was prompt but not overbearing. I took 1 star off of atmosphere because of the table next to us. A family came in with their teenage sons. I heard one of the boys say “I don’t know what any of this is” whilst reading the menu. Shortly after, the father requested that the kitchen make burgers even though they are not on the menu and no longer a special. The server went back to check with the kitchen and returned to the table to say “We can make burgers but it will take extra time as they are no longer a menu item.” It was clear that he was trying to remain professional while also hinting that this was out of the norm and unnecessary extra work for the kitchen staff. The table insisted on having THREE burgers and a salad for the mother. The Capital Grille staff handled the situation with class and grace, I just have no idea why the family chose fine dining over a burger joint with their kids. Regardless, the experience exceeded our expectations and we will absolutely be returning to try their steaks!

It was a feast for the Vikings. Generous portions, rich in taste and impeccable service, make this place one-of-a-kind! They make you feel special on special occasions.

Google
Service was amazing! There was a few hiccups, like giving us an transition table when there was other tables open. I think it was due to our attire. My date came from work and last second decided to take me out. What can you do? Oysters were west cost and they let us tryout one before the half dozen. 🥰 yummy. The calamari pan fried was quite spicy... a little too much kick in the back of the throat if you know what I mean and I loved loved loved the crackers they had with the bread. Order the lamb.. I didn't like it. It tasted too gamey and really chared for my liking. They were really sweet with offering to get something else. I just let my date have it. He had bone in ribeye with balsamic marinade. I loved it.. took a bit of his with the pome frites. And to end of the night.. the coconut cream pie was divine, took all the pain away. Can't go wrong with this as a non coco lover. The two drinks, a palmelo and a black berry sidecar. The pamelo was it..the sidecar literally hits you like a car on the side. If you want classic steak and slight turf this is your place. Nice dim lighting, soft music playing in the back. Really cozy. They shouls add some live jazz or something ....that would be top tier. Gave us a parting gift of chocolates. Really thoughtful A little over 300$ for the meal. For the portions it works.

Google
Arguably one of the best steakhouses in Minneapolis and the only restaurant outside of Thomas Keller’s French Laundry that I give 5-Stars across the board. Alan Witcher, the GM understands the service industry more than most. I have no affiliation with this restaurant, but when I asked about dry aging, Alan went out of his way to explain the process. He took time out of his busy dinner service, just to talk to me about it. The Capital Grill is a PE backed chain, but they really have it figured out! First, if you want the best possible experience, insist on Ryan as your server! Trust me, he is exceptional and you won’t be disappointed. We have been dining there for two decades and when it’s my birthday, we are going there! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look. Went back on March 28th. The staff here (get Ryan and tell him I sent you!) is the best anywhere. Once again there were surprises around every corner! At the end of our meal, Ryan brought us a cocktail that his grandfather used to have every night. It was a very warm and personal story.

We were here celebrating our anniversary, and it was such a great experience. Little details and cute ending. Were ordered so much food and had leftovers. We met the executive chef and got a recommendation from him, it was so nice. Recommend for special occasions for sure!

Yelp
We love coming to Capital Grille. It's one of our favorite places in the cities for celebrations. This time was no exception. We started with a crock of French onion soup, bowl of clam chowder and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. The French onion is the best you'll find, it's so good. We also the seared tenderloins with lobster and a 10oz filet which we had butterflied and split to share. For a side we got the skinny fries, salt only. They were hot, fresh, salty, everything you wanted. Best fries ever. We also got a side of bearnaise sauce which i highly recommend as it goes great with the steak and for dipping your fries in. All the food was delecious. Our steaks were cooked as ordered. We were also surprised with a nice birthday dessert. The coconut creme pie and cheesecake were both delecious. Angel was our server. He was very kind. They also have valet parking for $15, which i recommend over trying to park in a ramp/street nearby.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places!! I was SO EXCITED to dine here on a Friday 'before' Mother's Day! Service and ambiance were just okay. Seating not so much, they placed us 'right' by the door with only dining in the front and no flexibility to move seating?? HUH?? Okay, on to the food, the bread was good per usual, nice and warm! I ordered the dry-aged porterhouse steak- it was tough and seared a bit too much! The bacon app was delish!! The asparagus and not so creamed corn were nice, but today's star of the show were the potatoes!! Oh and the lobster was SO-SO good!! VERY tender, melt in your mouth, that was t enough good!! For a $400 meal, I expect everything to be on point, they missed the mark on this one.

Yelp
We went to lunch to celebrate my birthday. There are lots of parking options near the restaurant. Everyone we talked with made us feel like VIPs the entire meal. We each had a filet which is one of the best steaks I've ever had. The dessert was delicious, and I highly recommend going here to celebrate special occasions!

Yelp
Ladies night out on the town, dinner before a show. We gambled and didn't make reservations anywhere. The first place we went to, we struck out... no walk-ins. We walked past this place and were lucky enough to get the last 2 spots at the bar. The bartender was entertaining to watch. He dressed our bartop ìn front of us with white linens and place settings. I saw the little blue bottle of Risata Moscato in the tiny fridge behind the counter and was sold. There is no need for a drink menu. I got the whole bottle, enough for 2 flutes worth. This place was fancy for my taste as the bartender refilled my flute for me while I was talking to my friend. Why thank you sir. And if I didn't say fancy yet, this place is expensive $$$$ fancy. There is a $70 APPETIZER! So I ordered the most basic, cheapest thing on the menu, and it was a Ceasar salad. But I shouldn't have been surprised that it was the best, most delicious Ceasar salad I have ever had!! I looked at the people around us and they had bread baskets. Maybe they actually ordered entrees, and it was included but I wanted a basket of gluten. The bartender entered something on his computer pad and it showed up 5 mins later. My favorite was the rye bread. My friend ordered a drink called the Bohemian. I tasted it and it was too dry for me, but she loved it. She also ordered prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. She loved this as well. This is a popular place as there was standing room only when we left. Great place for intimate dining with low candlelight ambiance and white linens. I'd come again but if someone else picks up the bill.

Yelp
This was our first time at The Capital Grille but it certainly won't be the last! I eat a steak daily so I'm often disappointed at restaurants because I love a crispy crust on a filet. The waiter, Diego, made it happen! It was the most tender filet with a crispy crust and delicious flavor! The lobster was tender. The Brussels sprouts were AMAZING! My son asked for sautéed onions and mushrooms (which onions weren't on the menu) but they made them for him. My boys enjoyed the steak tartar and the oysters were super fresh! I can't wait to come back!

Christina J.

Yelp
So very disappointed. Not the Capital Grille of the past. When I made my reservation, I let them know that we were celebrating a birthday - a milestone birthday. Used to be the table would be decorated and desert presented. When we arrived, we waited for someone to greet us. Once someone showed, he took a phone call that had "been on hold for a while." By the time we were seated, there were two other couples waiting. At the Capitol Grille? I was shocked. When we were eventually seated, the table was not decorated but I was sure they had remembered our special occasion anyway. Unfortunately and sadly, that was not the case. Could I have called them over or excused myself to go and find someone to let them know that our visit was for a special occasion? I could have but at the expense of embarrassment to all. Sadly, this will be our last time dining at The Capital Grille.

Yelp
We had dinner here prior to a show at the Orpheum. With parking at LaSalle, everything was very close and easy to get to. We were seated in a booth near the back of the restaurant, much more quiet and private. We chose crab cakes for an app. They had a nice bite, served hot, and were a great starter. I chose the Salmon for my entree and daughter had the halibut. Both pieces of fish were excellent. They each had a nice seared top so a little crisp with the softness of the fish. Both were served in a tasty sauce that accompanied the fish very well. Neither came with sides and we didn't order a side so last minute we asked for some Parmesan fries. They came out very quickly and allowed us to eat with our meal. We didn't plan on dessert but decided on crème brûlée and it was excellent. It had blueberries, strawberries and raspberries on top which was a wonderful accompaniment. Service was excellent. Shannon was timely, considerate, and customer focused. She made sure we made it to our show on time. Great experience.

Yelp
We made a reservation prior to a show at the Pantages Theatre. We split several dishes and everything was fantastic. - Lobster and Crab Cake with Lemon Basil Aioli - Pan-Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers (the best calamari I've ever had) - Burrata with Heirloom Tomatoes

Yelp
We came here for my birthday lunch and it was excellent. I figured it would be a ghost town at lunch but it was packed. I have been to many CG's across the country and although this one is on the small side, it was very cozy and felt clubby in a good way. We were greeted warmly at the door and immediately brought to our table. We had some cocktails and a glass of wine. Drinks came out quickly and so did our food - not that they were rushing us, but since it was lunch, I bet they assume people are don't have all day to wait around. We got the tenderloin sliders and the 8oz filet with bearnaise sauce. Both the steak in the sandwich and the filet were perfectly cooked medium rare. They brought me a complimentary dessert of a mini cheesecake and mini flourless chocolate cake. Our server was a friendly guy and the manager stopped by to chat us up as well. I look forward to my next visit!

Yelp
Service, atmosphere, and food are all top notch. Melt in your mouth ribeye, scrumptious shrimp cocktail, and prenominal desserts. I really don't think it matters at all what is ordered, it's going to be fantastic and a night to remember. We stayed at a hotel "nearby" and was able to utilize the skywalk to get to the restaurant prior to our show at the nearby theatre. The skywalk or parts of it close by 6 so we had to uber back, but all in all, it was a great experience.

Yelp
I took my girlfriend here for our 4 years anniversary. This was our first time dining here. We ordered: Caesar Salad, Porcini-rubbed Bone-in Ribeye, and Bone-in Filet (special) with an added lobster tail. For the sides: spinach sautéed with garlic, mashed potatoes, soy glazed Brussel sprouts with bacon, and truffle fries. 1) The Caesar Salad was a nice start to our meal. Nice, green, and healthy. The usual. 2) I had the Chef Suggested Porcini-rubbed Bone-in Ribeye with 15 years aged Balsamic Vinegar. Cooked medium rare. The exterior had a nice smokey char. Inside was moist, fatty, and tender. Yep, when you think of an amazing steak, this is it. 3) My girlfriend had their Bone-in Filet (again this is a special), and she added a lobster tail. The filet was also cooked medium rare. I tried a slice of her filet and it was also amazing. Super tender and soft meat. I have a shellfish allergy and didnt go near the lobster tail, but the lady said it was good. 4) We ordered four sides so we got the sides at a smaller size, which was the right decision. The fries were your perfect idea of fries: crunchy exterior, soft insides, and a nice aroma of truffle. The Soy Glazed Brussel Sprouts had a char, it was smokey, and had a nice sweet flavor. The Spinach Sautéed in Garlic was ok, it was a bit too salty for me. The Mashed Potatoes were your regular mashed potatoes, soft and delicate. My favorite two of the four: the Truffle Fries and Soy Glazed Brussel Sprouts. 5) We had a few of their cocktails. The mule was really good, probably the best mule I've ever had. Refreshing, smooth, and you can barely taste the alcohol. Yep this drink is good and dangerous. 6) I cannot leave this review without mentioning their service. The service was top notch. Our server Carlos was amazing and went above and beyond for us. We were given a complimentary Fried Calamari dish. They also surprised us with an anniversary dessert plate which was amazing! This was our first time here, but it definitely won't be our last. Big thanks to our server Carlos and the Capital Grille team for showing us a great time. I would definitely reccomend this restaurant for anyone wanting a nice date or wanting some great steaks. I forgot to mention, they have a $15 valet parking service for your convenience.

Yelp
Consistently excellent. We visited again before a concert and everything was excellent. The Tuna Tartare appetizer is a must. Just wish it was a little bigger. The bread is amazing - especially the pumpernickel. We always eat so much bread. Lobster Bisque is also excellent. My husband ordered the Dry Aged NY Strip au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream and raved about it. I ordered the Sliced Filet Mignon with Cipollini Onions, Wild Mushrooms and Fig Essence - also excellent. Both steaks were cooked perfectly to order ... never an overcooked steak here. We split a Creme Brulee and it was delicious. So full but it was amazing.

Yelp
Had a lunch date to CG and had a good experience. My server was Ashley and she was an attentive server. Ambiance: Classic per usual Food: Tasty. We had calamari, seabass, brussel sprouts and ribeye sandwhich and fries. Blackberry Sidecar and Black Tie Margharita Service: From Kathleen at the door to Ashley our server, to the manager who checked on things and appreciated us for stopping by, everyone was swell. Ashley was patient with us as my date took forever to find out what he wanted and I enjoyed our friendly banter about Tiffany jewelry and spicey food. Cheers to a strong redemption!
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
We stopped by prior to a concert, and had salads, cocktails, steak, and desserts. The food and service was top-notch, as usual. In particular, probably the best Wedge salad we've ever had. Not an inexpensive place, but worth it for special occasions. We've been back, and will be again.

Yelp
Celebrating my partner's birthday at Capital Grille was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was great, matching our mood perfectly and offering understated elegance for our evening. Our waiter was nothing short of amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. He provided us with an overview of the menu and specials, as well as helpful recommendations. The Bone-In KC strip that he suggested was nothing short of perfection, but unfortunately, my sea bass was a bit bland. Nevertheless, we had several delightful sides that more than made up for the fish. The highlight of our dining experience was the complementary birthday dessert of Crème Brûlée and a flourless cake that left us speechless. We cannot recommend the Capital Grille enough - it is an excellent choice for any special occasion or a memorable night out.

Yelp
I have gone here a few times for different celebrations. The staff are so educated and kind. Highly recommend the veal, it's probably one of the best items on the menu! Be aware of dress code and maybe recommended if you have young kids asking to sit somewhere for private. Overall the environment is very classy with low lighting but still enough to see the menu.
google avatar

Tara J.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day and it was a great experience. Definitely get a reservation and be mindful of the dress code. Parking options will either be street parking and walking a bit, potential parking ramps or valet parking, which was $15 without tip. We got complimentary bread upon arrival, which is always great. For drinks - I got the Black Tie Margarita which I highly recommend. It was surprisingly one of the best margaritas I've ever had. I didn't think they were known for drinks! And my husband had wine. For dinner - we ordered the filet mignon, lobster Mac and cheese and the bone in rib eye with lobster tail. Everything was perfect! It is pricey, of course, but great for special occasions. Since it was Valentine's Day, they brought out chocolate covered strawberries and a rose. The service was excellent and everyone was kind and welcoming!
google avatar

Kristin L.

Yelp
The food here amazing, the service great, and the experience was amazing. We came here to celebrate my fiancé birthday as we were visiting for California. Angel was our server and he was more than welcoming and providing an amazing service. When we come back, this will be a must visit. Thank you capital grille for the service and the celebration for my fiancé birthday.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent greeting at the front door. Excellent service from beginning to end. I highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
Love the experience! I was in town for a conference and we had a private dinner here. (Hence no pictures) The service was top notch! Explanation of the menu and recommendations were perfect. Appetizer- I had the lobster bisque. It had a healthy amount of lobster in it and the waiter recommended a sherry wine sauce which made it next level! I also had the calamari. Capital grille has some of the best calamari I've ever had. Dinner Had the 10 oz filet with a blue cheese crust. Mid rare, it was cooked to perfection. We had numerous sides. I think my favorite were the Brussel sprouts. They had a sweet glaze with bacon sprinkled throughout. I know, how can you go wrong with bacon. Dessert Creme brûlée. I'm not even sure you can call yourself a steak house if you don't do creme brûlée right! I'm here to tell you this was excellent! Highly recommend this spot for dinner!

Yelp
Five star service, five star lobster bisque, five star filet mignon, and five star wine. What more could you ask for when treating yourself to a lovely dinner at a traditional steak house.

Julie G.

Yelp
Amazing dinner experience. The service was impeccable. The food was cooked perfectly. We were a party of 5 seated at a round table in a corner. We could comfortably talk to and hear each other even with other patrons around us.

Francine G.

Yelp
We hadn't been in a long time and I'm so glad we went back!! We were celebrating a milestone anniversary and my kids hijacked (in a good way) the evening. There were metallic hearts sprinkled on the table, they brought us champagne shortly after we sat down, and then, the BREAD BASKET. I could have just eaten that bread for dinner. We had steak and lobster, au gratin potatoes, and creamed spinach ~ the food was exceptional. Then came a dessert platter decorated beautifully, and when they brought the check it looked like a regular "pay the bill" holder, but inside was a lovely note from our kids wishing us a happy anniversary.....that's it. No bill. The evening was so amazing....we can't wait to go back. Kudos to great food and THE DETAILS!! Also...very happy to see it was pretty packed on a Monday night!!

Yelp
I think this place excels at great customer service and efficiency. It was really easy to get a reservation online; I love when you can do everything online. The staff was great. They are very informative about the menu and the history of the restaurant. We had a nice chat with our waitress about why it was called Capital Grille and about who were all the people in the portraits at the restaurant. We had steaks and lobster mac & cheese. I loved the lobsters mac although it could use some more lobster pieces (only had like 2 pieces). I only liked my steak. It was cooked a little more than the medium I requested, and frankly, I had more flavorful steaks at other restaurants. The medium cooked Porterhouse steak I had in a Mexico is my bar, and this was not quite that. However, I enjoyed my visit and would come back, but maybe just for a burger. Also, prices are quite fair, so I didn't mind that either.

Parker H.

Yelp
5/5 food (delicious sliders), service (friendly bartender), and nice ambience at the bar. Would go back next time in Minneapolis.

Yelp
I came here with my mother to grab some dinner before going to see the musical Tina (which was amazing). The show started at 8pm so I made reservations for 6pm and noted in my reservation that we had an 8pm show. When our server greeted us he made reference to my note and said he'd make sure we were done by 7:30, which I really appreciated. We ordered the crab cakes and potatoes au gratin to share. For my meal I had the Chilean sea bass with miso butter which also came with asparagus. The crab cakes and sea bass were great. The au gratins were good but came with a crumble on top which I'm personally not a fan of. I also wish that there were more seafood options, but all in all everything was great and our service was wonderful.

David W.

Yelp
Dined in the bar before Mannheim Steamroller concert and will ask to be seated there again. Cocktails arrived quickly, as did the food and all of it delicious. The waiter was full of holiday cheer and really enhanced the experience. The lobster tails were perfectly cooked and we we even able to enjoy dessert before the show. I dine at CG somewhat regularly for lunch, and have yet to be disappointed. Keep up the good work in 2024!

Norma W.

Yelp
The Manager Diane was very accommodating when I called to make reservations in August for our Book Clubs Holiday LNO for Dec 2nd, a group of 20. Diane let me know she'd be off last night. We were left in Is capable hands with Servers Shannon and Claudia. Shannon and Claudia were Exceptional and we were well taking care of. The food, drinks and atmosphere were Amazing. The entire staff was Great, from the Valets who carried our heavy x-mas gifts, cake and cupcakes. And other Staff members that were polite by taking our 1000 pictures.

Yelp
We were craving a good steak over the holiday weekend so we decided to go to one of our favorites. If you have never been to this location, it is perfect for date night or dinner before an event. Here are a few tips. This is located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis so I highly suggest using the valet parking. The valet parking becomes available at 5pm. If your on a hot date, do not use the parking ramp across the street. It tends to have a foul smell so it will definitely kill the romantic vibe. We always order the 22 oz bone-in ribeye with asparagus and brussel sprouts. This time I ordered the porcini rubbed bone-In ribeye with a 15-Year Aged Balsamic and my wife ordered the regular ribeye. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. The porcini rub and balsamic didn't over power the flavor of the steak so I am sold. I'll be ordering this again. The brussel sprouts are not properly named. It should be called meat candy with brussel sprouts mixed in. I'll close by saying this. This restaurant is consistently good at making your evening special and cooking every dish to perfection.

Yelp
Everything was good. BLT was very good with a lot of delicious bacon. Bloody Mary was also good . Hamburgers and salads were also great. Service was good.

Yelp
Perfect spot to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary!! Happy wife is an understatement. Service: 5/5 The waitstaff were attentive and knowledgeable. We were asked if we were on a timeline, and we said no! We enjoyed our dinner at a relaxed pace - exactly what we wanted. Food: 5/5 To start, we got the seafood platter. Lobster, shrimp, oysters -- we love seafood and it was fantastic. Dinner we both had the filet mignon- oscar style, topped with crab and bernese sauce. Absolutely incredible. It is my favorite cut of steak, and it was perfect!! Perfectly tender and flavorful. We had the mashed potatoes and lobster mac as sides -- both were great. Ambiance: 4.8/5 It was a little loud when we first got there around 7, but it got progressively quieter over the evening. I loved the privacy of our booth for 2, lighting and decor was classy. In our reservation, I noted it was our anniversary, the little details from the restaurant were so nice!! Heart confetti tastefully sprinkled on the table, complimentary champagne after we were seated and desert after an amazing meal for our anniversary. So thoughtful.

Yelp
More! Everything here was exactly that...more! Give me more flourless espresso chocolate cake please! Give me more creme brûlée please. The steaks melted in our mouths. They were cooked to perfection! This place is on our list now of date night spots. The atmosphere was that of an older time.Dark and but lit well enough to set the right mood! Lynn our server was right to the point...not all of the extra chatter. She just let us enjoy our meal! We will be back Capital Grille!

Yelp
Came for a special occasion and got some nice little table decor to reflect that. Service was all-around outstanding. We started with the crab cocktail, and it is phenomenal. Tons of lump crab meat paired with a nice little sauce to match. Next up was the real treat: the Porcini-Rubbed Bone-In-Ribeye. Rubbed with porcini mushroom and seasonings prior to cooking then covered with olive oil and 15-year aged balsamic, this was one of the most tender steaks I have ever eaten... even more tender than a filet in almost every respect. The flavor was crazy good to boot! I'd highly recommend this as a must on a visit to Capital Grille.

Yelp
Can't believe I've never left a review as I've been coming here for over a decade. If you're familiar with CG, this is a great example of a very well run operation. The food is always spot on perfect - from the house afternoon chips to the calamari to the steak and sides. It can get busy, especially on weekends and the bar is quite popular with lots of regulars. Great thoughtful wine list including by the glass and always amazing service. Who doesn't love a stoli dole once in awhile!?

Yelp
Visited The Capital Grill for lunch and had an awesome experience. Our server was super friendly and engaging. The space itself is very traditional and clean. I ordered the salmon salad for lunch - super light and yummy! Definitely recommend!

Robert T.

Yelp
Great food as always. Shannon our server was exceptional as well. Steaks good exactly as we ordered them. Brought how a ton of leftovers. Saturday night theater crowd made the place jumping with a positive vibe. Learned something new. If going to a show, they hold your leftovers until you come back. Valet is also there for after show car pick up. One stop venue for shows. Outstanding!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and staff! My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and it was definitely a treat. We got the tuna tartar to start with some clam chowder, delicious! The sides we got for the table were wild mushrooms and truffle fries, to die for! For our main course he got the Chef Recommended Tomahawk Steak and I got the 22oz Ribeye with the balsamic vinaigrette. Both we got were Oscar Style, which personally I wouldn't recommend. The only reason I rated it 4 stars was because the crab and asparagus that came with the Oscar style option were charred and dry. If I come again I won't be getting it, not worth the extra I paid. Besides that, the place is very classy and professional. Our waitress was Angie and she was spectacular and accommodating, I also had a pleasant encounter with another server too, I believe his name was Ken. The whole team of servers/host/bussers were amazing and so in sync! They have a decent wine and cocktail selection, and mock-tails if you don't drink! At the end of our meal they brought us a Happy Anniversary dessert which was so sweet! Perfect to pair with our espresso, a nice light and nutty blend. Recommend for special occasions, just refer to their dress code if you'd like to dine here.

Yelp
Our server, Claudia, was absolutely amazing. We had an idea of what we wanted heading into the meal, and her recommendations exceeded our expectations. The food was SO GOOD! Two 10oz steaks later and our night was set. Fantastic service all around. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Expensive restaurants always ALWAYS have disgusting food and I never like it but THIS place omgg!! Absolutely delicious. The salmon, TO DIE FOR, the chicken YUM! The lobster Mac and cheese was good, very heavy so come with an empty stomach. You also HAVE to try the strawberry lemonade (mocktail), it's amazing! This place was definitely worth the food we got. Every last penny. It was a friends birthday and we got a birthday dessert with some vanilla and chocolate situation and I melted. It was SO delicious! It's very dimly lit so don't go here for great pictures lol.

Yelp
I get to eat in restaurants across the country and this one blew my mind. Both service (Ken) and food were over the top. The best meal my wife and I have had in two years. And that place was in LA. We did not expect this kind of meal here.

Yelp
I walked in with a hat, they said I could not wear it, so I took it off with no complaints. I sit down and see multiple people wearing hats in the restaurant. Nice job singling me out. Great food, but manager clearly singles people out!

Yelp
Celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary. Everything was fantastic. Arrived with confetti hearts on the table. Ordered a couple drinks and Carlos, our waiter, brought over complimentary jumbo shrimp. SO GOOD. Both of our dinners were amazing. Prepared to perfection. We finished with a complimentary dessert and Champagne! Carlos is second to none. 5 stars

Yelp
I thought I had the best steak in my life at the Grille. Until the next time I went there. It was impossibly even better. Staff is best in twin cities. So accommodating. Best host, servers and bartenders in town. We go before plays or concerts and they hold our food till we get back. I literally can't say enough about the Capital Grille. Fantastic every time. I've been there too many times to count but they never let us down.

Yelp
What's there to say, except this is a solid, always consistent steak house that never lets you down! Good service, in the center of downtown, great steaks and salads....excellent service, valet parking and a great bar! Super place to get in east prior to a TWolves game, grab a bite and walk to game!

Yelp
I went to Capital grille for my birthday dinner with my husband and the employees made every bit of it very memorable. The building itself is downtown but parking during a weekday evening is very doable especially on a cold winter night. We parked in a metered spot. The building is an old, rustic, but charming place that kind of reminds you of a castle in a way. Dimly lit and romantic. Huge booth seating. The waiter was very kind and accomodating and checked in with us multiple times throughout the night to make sure everything was going well. I appreciated his attention to detail and explaining the menu for us first-timers. We got the sliced filet mignon, seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster tails, and lobster Mac & cheese. Everything we ordered was divine. The meat was do tender and the Mac & Cheese was the best lobster Mac I've ever had ! It was extra cheesy and had lots of lobster pieces. They didn't skimp on the seafood one bit. Ended the night with a sweet surprise. Thanks for the hospitality and amazing food.

Yelp
We chose to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at the Capital Grille, what a remarkable dining experience! I'm usually not the type for sophisticated fine dining but I think this is a venue that I can easily put in the repeat category. Our waiter provided an experience second to none--talk about being on point at every step of the meal! My steak and poached lobster was perfect. From the flavor to the cook, everything g was wonderful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming on the dreadful cold night in January! Thank you Capital Grille Staff for an amazing anniversary experience.

Yelp
Came to a Timberwolves game and had an opportunity to try Cap Grille for the first time. After eating at Mannys, McCormick and Schmidt and Pittsburg Blue in our first year in Minnesota. I wasn't sure how it would stack up as a chain but it was incredible good. They have valet parking which allows time for dinner and game which is pretty amazing. We got seated and opted to jump into dinner. French onion soup, Caesar salad, asparagus, Mac and cheese and filets were on the menu and each item was delicious. I enjoyed the steak here as it served hot (different than other steakhouses) and was tender and delicious. Add drinks which we did .... I am coming back !

Yelp
Had a great covid date here back in the summer during their Endless Pour promotion (I think they do this every summer starting in July) $28 for seven pours if different wines. And they'll keep topping off the ones you like and pair as you go along in the meal. This was great and what made this a five star instead of four. Our server was attentive and I think he was working entire dining room. We started with mozz and prosciutto app. Both of us enjoyed. Shared a Caesar and French onion soup. Both great. I also have to comment that they have the best bread basket I've ever seen!!! Nice variety and loved the crackers too. At this point, I think we could have comfortably shared my filet and twin lobster tail entree. But we decided to be on the "safe side" and my husband got the Kona NY with "shallot butter" too. I'm sorry but I can't believe that's a signature item. My husband said he enjoyed it, I thought it was nasty. It reminded me of a Lipton onion soup packet melted with a tablespoon of butter and then slimed over the top of the steak. For my money, I prefer a pure seasoned steak without the sauces etc and would choose locally owned Murray's or mannys. We had a great time but for an expensive steak dinner it might not be my first choice! But still great!
