The Capital Grille

I came here for the first time during restaraunt week. My lady has been plenty, and consistently gets good service, good drinks, and good steaks. For me, the bread service was far from boring. The salad was salad.. the dressing didn't do anything to make is special. My salmon was cooked pretty close to perfectly.. nice crust, tender inside. There was also a really good glaze all over the plate. There was nothing boring on the plate. I was also very happy with the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach sides. Our desserts were decent (flourless chocolate espresso cake and creme brulee cheesecake), but nothing I'd be excited to order again. Service was excellent all-around, the vibe is grade A for date night, and they have complimentary valet parking. I'll definitely come back and dive into the regular menu some time.

The steak was great, the caviar dip was okay. I would get something else. We went to dinner with friends. They would not split the bill between 4 couples. This is supposed to be fine dining? When I served years ago at a much less expensive restaurant, I was able to do this. I understand it’s a little more work but, it should be feasible with upscale dining. Very disappointing

I'd prefer a 10 star review but 5 is all I get. Impeccable service. Always greeted promptly and with a smile. My mother is treated no less than a VIP and it's appreciated that management remembers her name and the foods she likes. Thats top notch service needed in so many more places!!! James and Brian are our go to service members. Hats off to the chef always!!

The food was great we loved the calamari and the entrees. I will say the sides(asparagus and mashed potatoes) were maybe a 2/5. What really stood out about this experience was the customer service from our table attendant Rakyi he overheard our part mentioning something that would of enhanced the taste of one of our dishes and without hesitation delivered it within 7minutes. It’s can be hard to experience exceptional service but he was extremely attentive and we appreciated it.

I have always wanted to come to the Capitol Grille for dinner or lunch. So I finally had the opportunity to come for my birthday lunch. And I was not disappointed.The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful.And my server was just as delightful and well knowledgeable about menu. She had a pleasant and friendly personality. The food was excellent. The decor was relaxing and enjoyable as well. I would suggest for anybody who wants to come to a fine dining restaurant to come to the Capitol Grille . They will not be disappointed, because I was not.

The Capital Grille in Cincinnati is a great a experience from start to finish. Well staffed and the service is so good that you will want for nothing. Thank you Brian G and James D. Excellent Toscana wine (pictured) recommendation. Our steaks, prime filet and NY Strip, were cooked perfectly and tasted exceptional!!! The food, service and atmosphere is better than any local Jeff Ruby location, Ruth's Chris and Eddie Merlot's we have experienced in the past couple years. Capital Grille is now our new favorite local restaurant.

I went to the place last night for my birthday. The atmosphere, food and service was emasculate. We had the pleasure of being served by, Mr. William. The experience he provided with his service, is one we will remember for a lifetime. Truly, he’s the best server I’ve ever had and deserves all of the recognition! The food was truly amazing and I highly recommend the lobster Mac and cheese (without breadcrumbs). This place is now our once in a while, date night out. Thank you, William, you are a treasure and deserve nothing but the best in this world! We’re looking forward to your service in the future.

thanksgiving dinner here. Extremely busy, Im sure every table was full every moment of the day. The staff was truly trying to do their best in the circumstances. There was an initial mix up about our server, causing us to wait more than half an hour before being acknowledged. When the mistake was realized, they went so far above and beyond to compensate, that I was truly impressed. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the true attention to customer service was really impressive. This has been our choice for special occasions, and now, even more so.

I have been to multiple Capital Grilles throughout the southeast! This was my first time at the one here in my hometown and I will say that William was THEE best! He was attentive, took time to get to know his customers and was extremely personable! If you're going and want to ensure to have an amazing experience, I definitely recommend sitting in his section!! You won't be disappointed!!! Wish I could come back to this location on a more regular basis!!

Christmas at The Capital Grille is basically a high-end contact sport. Packed dining room, holiday chaos, and enough "special requests" flying around to qualify as an FAA situation. And yet...somehow...Amity ran our table like a pro. She didn't just "wait" on us. She commanded the mission. Even with a heavy load on an extremely busy Christmas-season night, we never felt abandoned, forgotten, or stuck in that purgatory where you start eating bread like it's your retirement plan. Amity was expeditious, focused, and calm...the kind of calm that says, "I've seen the weeds... and I own them." Now here's where she went from great to legendary: my colleague needed gluten-free, and Amity handled it like it was the easiest thing in the world. She customized sauces, made sure the meal worked, and even got him gluten-free bread...and he was thrilled because nothing felt like a downgrade. The flavors were still top-tier, the kind that makes you pause mid-bite and think, "Okay... so this is what winning tastes like." We had the Chilean sea bass with the sauces, and it was exactly what you want at The Capital Grille: rich, dialed-in, and so good it should come with a warning label for jealousy. And the drinks...Amity presented them with such style we felt like we should be wearing tuxedos and giving each other code names. Seriously, she had us at "shaken, not stirred"...for a minute we weren't just having dinner, we were auditioning for James Bond: The Midwest Years. Bottom line: Amity treated us like kings on one of the busiest nights of the year, and she did it with skill, warmth, and a level of attention that's rare when a restaurant is slammed. Management: please reach out and tell Amity she's doing an incredible job. Yes, we're one of thousands she's served over the years...but on a night when she could've been in pure survival mode, she made us feel like the only table in the room. That's not just good service...that's Capital Grille service done right.

Atmosphere and Bartender were both excellent. Cocktails were very good; but, for a place of this stature I expected better. Bone-In Ribeye Steak was unfortunately sub-par = ordered Med-Rare the center was Medium plus and a little dry. Came with 15-year Balsamic = I was not a fan. (I prefer steak to taste like steak; but I am often open to trying new things.) I was underwhelmed. My expectations were high. I would try them again; although, Cincy has too many other excellent steakhouses and restaurants so I am not sure if I will make it back.

Had an amazing lunch today at the Capital Grille! Loved walking in, and it felt so festive. Our waitress, Maggie, was so knowledgeable and fabulous. She talked us into trying a new white wine that I loved and can't wait to go back to try again. There were four of us, and we each loved our meals so much. From management on down, all great!!

Amazingly flavored food! Excellent server, although her helpers could have helped her a bit more. The ambiance is very classic and dim, great for a business meeting or a date night.

Great place for celebrating special occasions. Although the place was packed they were able to maintain an intimate atmosphere. Food was outstanding, and the waitstaff were perfectly attentive. Wine selection is beyond expectations. Would highly recommend this establishment.

Went here for a company dinner. The food was amazing. I had the ribeye. I loved everything including the calamari, yum!! The staff was very nice as well.

5 stars all around! Amazing service - max was fabulous and made us feel so special to celebrate a graduation. Food was incredible - couldn't go wrong with whatever you ordered whether that be seafood, fish, etc. Lovely restaurant with good decor and seating options, the windows were open since it was a great day. All around, I would definitely recommend for anyone celebrating a special occasion!

The rib eye with balsamic was delicious. Cooked perfectly and very well seasoned, one of the best steaks I've had in cinci. Calamari was lovely with the hot peppers, and everything was fresh. Our servers were fantastic and we loved having our work meeting there in the special conference room. Would go back.

Nice ambiance. Kyria offered excellent customer service and the calamari was the best I've had and crème brûlée was delicious. It's all about the food for me and the calamari was the only thing that wowed me. The shrimp cocktail was nice and the salad presentation was pleasing but lacked flavor, the steak and dressing. I didn't care for the lobster bisque at all, it was bland. I will return for the calamari.

Visited tonight for a friends bday! The restaurant will go above and beyond to help make your time there a great celebration. They had the table decorated and a card for my friend. We requested TAE because she's an awesome server. Always so knowledgeable about the menu and makes great non biased suggestions! Shes so friendly and makes sure you have unforgettable service! Everything we ordered was delish from start to finish! Highly recommend going for date night, birthdays, or if you're feeling fancy and want to treat yourself!

The service is always top tier. I've gone here 2x for my sisters birthday (she always draws) although there were many of us to serve, the waiters made it a point to be pleasant and patient. And the food is so good, as a vegan, they're always willing to accommodate (I usually go for fries, vegetables and the risotto)

The food is exceptional as is the presentation. The Service matches the food. This is a first class, white tablecloths restaurant. Great for special occasions. You really need a reservation.

Nice place for an elegant meal or a cozy cocktail in the bar. Food is very good . Standard steaks on the menu, seafood and chef specialties as well. The filet trio was really fine. Three cutlets prepared differently. Excellent. Parking on site. If you do come here, please folks, dress nice. Stop in and say Hi to manager John and our server Chris. They went the extra distance for us to make it a special evening. Thanks guys again. We'll be back.

Second time in one week. Loved this place and surprised I love it so much because I am not a fan of chain restaurants. Decided on something different tonight, I got lamb and a wedge salad. It was amazing and perfect!! Stacie really makes the best recommendations. Had I not had amazing service from her the first time, I may not have been back, but I've been happy with ALL of her recommendations!! Going to have to see if I have as much luck at their other locations. Yum

My husband and I hardly ever get a night out together so we wanted to try somewhere new to us. He googled "fancy restaurants near me" The Capital Grille was the first place to pop up. The complimentary valet started the night out perfectly as parking would have been a nightmare without. We were 20 minutes early for our reservation but we were seated immediately when we entered. Our server Pablo greeted us quickly and made such good suggestions. He brought my espresso martini and poured it table side which was nice. My husband got the 22oz bone in ribeye, I got the roasted chicken with risotto and for our sides we got the lobster mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes. The food was incredible! That mac and cheese is no joke, easily the best mac I have ever had. After our meal Pablo boxed my leftovers and brought us a complimentary dessert because it was our first time. We had the crème brûlée cheesecake and the flourless chocolate cake. The cheesecake was to die for and the chocolate cake was good but super rich. Between Pablo's excellent service, the amazing food and Dakota keeping our waters filled we had the best time. Thank you so much to everyone at Capital for making our date night special! We definitely will be seeing you again soon!

To celebrate a special work milestone, my husband wanted a great surf and turf meal and he'd never eaten at Capital Grille. We arrived early to have a cocktail in the bar, which is richly appointed and beautifully decorated for the holidays. It was packed, but service was professional and pleasant. It was clear the staff was hustling, turning bar tables quickly, and our server mentioned it was the busiest night of the year so far. We enjoyed a cocktail and then ordered a bottle of wine that was delicious and well-priced. We cleared the bar tab when our dining room table was ready and our wine was delivered to the table. Our server introduced himself and we suggested we'd be ready to order pretty quickly. My husband ordered the tenderloin and lobster tails. As a vegetarian, I knew there were very limited options for me, so I ordered the beet goat cheese salad with pistachios and ordered a shareable wild mushroom side. That's when things started going downhill. Thank goodness they bring a basket of warm breads because our meal took at least 30 minutes to arrive. The assistant servers were friendly, but our captain never came by again. My salad was very tasty, but the mushrooms and steak and lobster were lukewarm. It was obvious they'd been holding for a while, which should be unacceptable for a $65 entree. We finished our meal and would have had dessert and an after-dinner drink to complete our splurge, but couldn't get our captain's attention, so we decided we'd go elsewhere. Then we waited another 15 minutes for the check; I finally asked another captain to help us. When we paid, we did tell our captain that we were unhappy with the service and food and as we were leaving, a manager offered to refund our meal. We declined that, but we'll take our future celebrations elsewhere.

The bar at the Capital Grille is absolutely the best! They are the spot to go for a solid meal or drinks. The best part though is the bar staff!

First time at Capital and not disappointed. Beautiful seating. Great wine options. Lobster and crab cake was delicious. The ribeye was so tender with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The coconut pie was amazing with cappuccino. Kelli was a fantastic help in our choices. Thanks for a fantastic anniversary dinner!

Love it here fancy pants but not stuffy. Regular bar crowd, and people are friendly. They serve deep fried chips with drinks to make you thirsty so you will drink more! That's my story cause I was slurping them up here. Dining room is beautiful, as are the Christmas decorations this time of year. Menu is extensive and everything looks good. This is fine dining but not outrageous price wise like others in town (I'm looking at you Jeff). Valet parking is a nice touch. Come on in and see for yourself how nice this is. I'll be at the bar, as always.

First, The Capital Grille's Private Dining Coordinator Aaron Marshall did a fantastic job assisting me with scheduling our business lunch with the client. I kept emailing him about the changes in attendees due to unforeseen illnesses and business travel. He always replied, "Sure, no problem. We can modify it as needed," or similarly. The server was perfect; he was attentive and effortless, and most importantly, he didn't reach over people's plates. Everyone was highly impressed with him. Top-notch. All of the food was cooked to perfection by the cooking staff, and if I am not mistaken, everyone ordered the bone-in dry-aged NY strip or the boneless prime ribeye. Also, everyone enjoyed the pies too. At first, nobody was willing to order dessert, but I spoke up and said, "I will take one of your famous coconut cream pies to go, please." Suddenly, everyone spoke up, and all seven of us left with either the coconut cream pie or the cheesecake. Later in the evening, I received texts and emails about the delicious pies. I was unaware that our Cincinnati-based client had never been to The Capital Grille, and they kept saying, "Well, we know where to bring our vendors for lunch or dinner." I almost forgot that one of our managers was ecstatic that the Capital Grille offered the 8 oz. Coca-Cola bottles. I believe he had four or five of them. So, thank you, Capital Grille, for knocking it out of the park for our business lunch.

We had dinner here today for my wife's birthday. Our waiter was Barry who did an excellent job of taking care of us. We both had the filet which was excellent with mash potatoes and spinach. I also got a ceasers salad and mushrooms. My wife received a birthday treat and a beautiful rose. All total, the meals were just as good as many of the top steak (Capital is also one the top steak restaurants) restaurants in greater Cincinnati. From my experience, Capital service beats them all. The capital grille is an absolutely wonderful experience. Food, staff, ambience, all perfect. I've enjoyed meals with my family for holidays as well as events with clients... always perfect!

Ok, food was delish, service spot on, however the ambiance is pretentious. Limited lunch menu. The background music was from the 1930s (It's Only a Paper Moon and A Tisket a Tasket - both Ella Fitzgerald). It had more of an high brow country club, 'you may make enough to come here, but you aren't good enough to eat here' feel. For instance there was even someone who introduced herself as something like a 'server apprentice' who came to the table to see if I wanted like 5 different kinds of sparkling water. Really?! I'm so down-to-earth that I am fine with just regular tap water. You get the picture.

Another visit during restaurant week, still my favorite time to visit this place. Kelli was our server. We ate in the patio room, which was nice on a hot evening. The food was good as usual, I'm not a spinach fan, so I miss the green beans they used to serve. Only complaint, once our food was delivered by the runner, no one checked on us or cleared our plates until well after we were finished.

Great experience. Food was delicious, service was outstanding. We were sat at a spacious table and the setting was very quiet and comfortable. Our server Kelli was amazing. She made great recommendations. I had the 14 0z Strip Steak au Polvre. Perfectly prepared and looked just like the owners pic on OpenTable and Yelp. Portion sizes of the sides were generous and everything was delicious. We were very impressed. Definitely a repeat offender.

This was absolutely a five star dinning experience in all areas. I absolutely recommend dining here. For us this was a special occasion and drove down from Columbus to Cincinnati for the weekend to celebrate our Ten Year Anniversary. It was an absolutely amazing dinner and the perfect choice. They exceeded all expectations and Amity Jones, our server, was beyond amazing. The parking is limited and we drive around a bit but the restaurant does offer valet. The parking lot services several restaurants and shops in the little area. Once we parked and went in we were promptly greeted and seated in a few minutes. There was even a nice Happy Anniversary card on the table. Amity, our server, introduced herself and guided us through the perfect dinning experience beautifully. To start the meal we shared the amazing Lobster and Crab Cakes. Just enough to serve two. They were so good with the chunks and lobster and crab and the delicious corn garnish had a nice bit of spiciness to it. We started off with a basket of their amazing bread. Each one was perfect in its own way. My personal favorite was the onion one. The bread was served with a generous slice of butter for the table, perfectly salted. For dinner my partner went with the Bone-In Ribeye, Medium rare, and I selected the Dry Aged NY Strip, medium-well. They have some of the best steaks that I have ever eaten. I can't even put into words to due it justice but it was delicious and seared perfectly and I enjoyed every bite. My partner had a nice glass of Cab w/ dinner and I went with some sparking water (San Pellegrino). In addition to the steaks, we added a shareable "for the table" side dish of the Au Gratin Potatoes. They were so good. I couldn't even finish those there was so much food. Just potato, cheesy goodness in every bite. Our server Amity nicely tricked us, as she went to get us some coffee and the desert menu to wrap up the meal, instead of the menus she brought us out an anniversary dessert dish. The tray had the Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake w/Cocoa Powder & Raspberries, and a side of whipped cream. It also had a small piece of The Capital Grille Cheesecake w/a Brûlée style crust and some delicious and fresh blueberries & strawberries. It had Happy Anniversary stenciled in chocolate across the dish. Such a nice treat to go with the after dinner coffee. The coffee had a sugar rock candy stick stirrers. Every detail of the meal was perfect. I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of food and the exceptional service at The Capital Grille -Cincinnati. Whether a celebration or a nice meal out, you can't go wrong dinning here.

It was very disappointing for the price. The tuna tartar lacked much flavor. The mango sauce had an imitation flavor to it. And the filet mignon was mostly tough. This was a takeout or I would have sent it back. I probably won't be returning.

Great food, way overpriced. Classy ambiance, but would rather take my money and feed my family for a week. Good lobster Mac, and steak. So if you have tons of money, do it. But whomever goes here often must have a serious laundering side hustle.

We had an amazing dinner last night at the Capital Grille. We always try to go when we are in town. In particular, we need to recognize Christopher W for his outstanding service. He was patient, kind, and knowledgeable. We would ask for him again! The food was cooked to perfection, and the portions were large. We loved the feel and ambiance. Overall, stand out experience!

Had been many years since we had dined at a Capital Grille and it did not disappoint for Thanksgiving 2022. I had the Thanksgiving special dinner. A healthy portion of white meat turkey, brioche stuffing, cranberry and pear chutney, green beans and mashed potatoes. Have to say it was a hit for me. The turkey was moist, stuffing was tasty and dense and potatoes were delish. My wife's veal chop was excellent and my sister-in-law reported a perfectly cooked filet Oscar. Add the lobster mac and cheese and it was cheers all around. Service was outstanding. It was 5 stars, all the way around. We'll be back soon!

Exquisite atmosphere! Dined with the CEO of my company yesterday evening and this place is gorgeous. Quick to serve, best of the best quality ingredients, preparation and class. I felt like a royal observing the wine wall, listening to specials not on the menu and the actual meal, to die for. Family style sides, thoughtfully concocted. It's expensive as it should be. I would likely have come here for an anniversary or something very special on my own. What a wonderful evening.

The food was Delicious! We went for lunch had Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. Creme Brûlée for dessert. Great service. Love the room we were in.

I feel like this is a great place to go if you want just a Classic steakhouse experience. I feel like the entire thing was "no frills". The steak was cooked medium rare, like I typically get in like I asked, for which was great. However, I just feel like there was nothing special to it. It was just a piece of meat that was grilled great which is fine with me. The crabcakes for great. The sauce on the side of the state was great. The cocktails were a solid 7/10. The server was kind and took the time out of his day to have a conversation with us about his most recent vacation which I really enjoyed. This is definitely a place I can go back to when craving a classic steakhouse experience.

Boyfriend and I traveled down to Cincinnati to celebrate his birthday early. Making reservations on the website was very easy. As soon as we walked in the door, we were welcomed by the manager. Our waiter, Jason made this evening an amazing experience. Very personable and accommodating. Great conversation about Columbus and Cincinnati. To drink, we were served Castello Del Poggio Moscato D'Asti. We started with poppy seed rolls and a crisp flatbread. The butter was sprinkled with course sea salt. My boyfriend ordered a cup of New England Clam Chowder. So creamy and smooth! I wanted to order one of everything off the menu. Everything looked so good. Boyfriend ordered Bone-In Kona Crusted Dry Aged NY Strip with Shallot Butter. The crust was blackened with slight coffee/cocoa flavor, tender. I ordered Sliced Filet Mignon with Cipollini Onions, Wild Mushrooms and Fig Essence. Cooked perfectly, so moist and tender with a slight sweetness from the fig. The mashed potatoes with the juices from the meat made it so flavorful. Jason brought out a birthday plate for dessert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate ganache. The chocolate mini cake and the cheesecake were absolutely divine. This was an amazing experience and can't wait to come back. Jason gave us his business card so we can make sure we ask for him next time we visit.

We had our anniversary dinner here. We had never been here before, but we will for sure be back. The staff was so nice. They called to confirm our reservation a few days prior and when I mentioned I was starting to not feel well and may have to cancel, they were very nice and even wished me well. Luckily we didn't need to cancel. I made a note of our anniversary on the reservation. They had the table decorated and had a nice card for us. They even gave us a complimentary dessert. The food here is outstanding. We tried the korean bbq bacon appetizer. It was good and fed our table of 4 adults. They gave each of us a single puff pastry with some kind of creamy spread and smoked salmon. It was good. You couldn't really taste the salmon, but it was smokey. The bread basket had several options. My husband loved the rye bread with the salted butter. My friend and I both really liked the regular bread with the sauteed onions on it. I ordered the 22 oz bone in ribeye (medium) and had garlic butter added. Oh my gosh...it was so good. Cooked perfectly and great flavor. My husband had the 10 oz filet with kona coffee rub and shallot butter added. Cooked perfect and it had a great earthy taste. Our friend got a chef special steak with mushroom crust and maybe a balsamic glaze. It was also cooked perfectly. Our other friend had the chicken with risotto. The chicken was tender. For the table we ordered au gratin potatoes, creamed corn, and asparagus. The au gratin potatoes were creamy but not mushy and had a nice crust on top. The creamed corn was our favorite. It was fresh off the cob and had the best flavor!! No one liked the asparagus. Our friends got the creme brule for dessert and enjoyed it. Our dessert had cheesecake and the flourless chocolate cake. Oh my gosh....that chocolate cake was so good!!! Get that!!! We were very happy with our meal and our service. Top notch!

Amity was an absolutely delightful and helpful bartender she made the best espresso martinis and blackberry bourbon sidecar. She made great suggestions for the menu and let us know the specials of the day. Stop in to see her she's the best!

We had a great time at the bar for an early Christmas dinner! Pablo provided excellent service. Steak au poivre is a must try.

I had the privilege of having James wait on us last evening for a birthday dinner that my dear friend treated me to. The experience was outstanding from the time that I walked through the door until the time that I walked out to my heated warmed up car that James had arranged to have the valet pull around and be ready for me upon departure. When I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted by name and the hostess said happy birthday. We're glad you're joining us. I was then taken to the table where my friend was already sitting. There was a card and a long, stemmed perfect red rose waiting for me. Provided courtesy of the restaurant. James couldn't do enough to make the evening special. The food was spectacular. The timing and tempo was perfect. Leftovers were boxed up and put in a lovely bag for us. Then at the end, a special birthday dessert with happy birthday written on the plate in chocolate complete with candles and singing. What a special night. James and the whole team at the capital Grille deserve major kudos. There are lots of formal restaurants and competitors in the state category in Cincinnati that are also outstanding. However, for my perspective, the capital Grille Nails it in terms of the place to celebrate special occasion.

Excellent food, beautiful restaurant, top notch service. One of our favorite restaurants ever. This is where we go for special occasions, like our anniversary and birthdays. We love the Capital Grille!

This is a staple work dinner or standard celebration restaurant, but I do feel they're a little over priced for the quality. My favorite thing to do here is grab drinks at Happy Hour and have a small appetizer, but dinner was good especially the lobster Mac and cheese. My husband had an overcooked steak while I stuck to my favorite app Lobster and crab cakes.

Capital Grille is a perfect spot for celebrating a special occasion. I went for my birthday to treat myself. I started with a great Tuscan Blend wine. I had their lobster bisque with a huge amount of lobster chunks and they actually top it off with dry sherry right at your table. I then had the mixed salad with a light vinaigrette dressing. The main entree was a bone-in filet cooked medium rare. One of the most amazing and tender steaks ever along with having it Oscar Style served in the side so the different sauces didn't clash. They then surprised me with a Birthday dessert of their cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. Wow, both so delicious!! The place is pricey to many standards but for me it is definitely worth it!! Give it a try!!

Went for Easter and everything was amazing and delicious. Service was outstanding as well. If it weren't so expensive we'd go weekly. The lobster bisque was the best I've ever had with big chunks of lobster. Oysters were Amazing as well. Will def be back for a nice dinner.
