Houston Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, March 2025 | Eater Houston

"A fine-dining steakhouse known for dry-aged steaks and an extensive wine list opened on Lake Woodlands Drive on Sunday, March 9, offering the chain's standard menu of favorites including lobster macaroni and cheese and pan-fried calamari served with hot cherry peppers. The opening arrives after The Woodlands lost two local steakhouses earlier this year (Killen’s and Tris) and may help fill that void. The restaurant is owned by Darden Restaurants, the group behind major chains such as Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, and the brand also maintains a location in Houston’s Galleria area." - Brittany Britto Garley

My wife and I dined here for lunch during there Wagyu and wine pairing. Let me just say, the Wagyu Mushroom and Swiss Burger with Sautéed Shiitake and Cremini Mushrooms, Jarlsberg Cheese and Truffle Aioli is so delicious. The riches flavor of the beef (medium temp of course), along with the juicy mushrooms made it a very refined experience for me and my wife. She enjoyed the Wagyu Blue Cheese and Black Truffle Burger with Cabernet-Braised Red Onions Suggested Pairing: Orin Swift Palermo, Cabernet Sauvignon. The blue cheese topping was a little intense but delicious. The duck fat fried French fries were so delicious and hot. The crispness and flavor were top notch. Not to mention, it was veterans day, so I enjoyed the Classic Crème Brûlée Classic custard creamed with real vanilla beans, served with seasonal berries on the house. It was such an awesome gesture. Maggie our server was so awesome. She went above and beyond to make our lunch one to remember.

We went here for our anniversary. It was very nice. They put a happy anniversary card surrounded with rose petals on our table and we got a special dessert with Champaign at the end of our dinner. We had the steak and lobster for two and it was delicious. The service was very attentive and informative. Usually you get someone that just gives you the facts. Not here. We got the sense that the staff knew the food and could comment on it which is nice. If you haven’t been here, you have to go. If you have been here, you have to go back. I know we will.

First time visitor to the Capital Grille and I was pleasantly pleased. My husband and I visited this past Saturday 7/12, with another couple for a dinner reservation for 6pm. Upon arrival, I was impressed! The entry way was adorned by 2 beautiful statues! Foyer was inviting and we were immediately greeted by 2 hostesses. The signing area was beautifully decorated. The white linen tables and lamps were nice. Our server Edgar was an absolute perfect addition to our first time visit! He helped us with meal suggestions as well as drinks. The food was delicious! Appetizers, the main course, our drinks and desserts…….MAGNIFICENT🤌🏾 Will definitely be back!!

Highly recommend this place. The food was amazing, and so was our waitress. She asked if we were on a time crunch when we sat down. We said “No, but we’re going to be first time grandparents in a couple hours. Our grandsons almost here. We just left to grab a bite to eat as she progresses!” They surprised us with these gifts for us and the parents to be.

I have gained a craving for their aged steak that was so flavorful. Such a nice texture if you like your steaks medium rare and pairs wonderfully with a cab as always! The cheesecake was absolutely delicious, I couldn’t compare it with any that I’ve had in the woodlands. And last but not least Celso was an amazing waiter, very knowledgeable on the menu and wine! Couldn’t have celebrated my birthday anywhere else, I am sold!

My first visit to The Capital Grille was nothing short of extraordinary, deserving every bit of a five-star rating! The highlight of the meal was the dry-aged steak, cooked to absolute perfection with a rich, bold flavor and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness that left us in awe. The au gratin potatoes were equally impressive, with their creamy, cheesy layers and perfectly crisp top—pure comfort food elevated to fine dining. We made sure to save room for the coconut cream pie, and it was a heavenly finale, with its silky coconut custard and flaky crust. Our waiter, Dakota, truly made the experience unforgettable. His warm, attentive service, paired with spot-on recommendations and genuine enthusiasm, made us feel so welcome and cared for. Dakota’s exceptional hospitality turned our first visit into one we’ll be talking about for years. We can’t wait to return!

Yelp
The long list of "high end" steak restaurants in the Woodlands just got a little longer. The Capital Grille recently opened right next to its sister property the Yard House near the Woodlands mall. We came in for a late dinner and sat at the bar. The bar area was pretty empty though the bar itself was mostly full. Some familiar faces behind the bar were some former Morton's steak employees. We started with the Caesar salad and put our order in for the porcini rubbed rib eye. The complimentary bread basket looked appetizing though I wish the bread was warmed. The rolls were cold and fairly tough. The runner noticed we didn't have any drinks yet and asked if we had been offered water, which we weren't, and had to remind the bartender to get us water. Drinks were solid but the Caesar salad was just average. The lettuce looked like it was about to turn and the Parmesan croutons were a bit much when combined with the Parmesan shavings. The ribeye wasn't my favorite either. Perhaps my taste, but the porcini rub gave the steak an overly sweet, charred flavor. Furthermore, we ordered the steak medium rare and I would say it was just medium. Perhaps it's the aging process but the meat didn't have the "prime", fatty flavor I was expecting. It tasted pretty lean. Our side was the scalloped potatoes which followed suit and wasn't anything unique. Though it was topped with fried onions which added an unnecessary flavor to an already heavy dish. Dessert was the coconut cream pie which is always a solid choice, and the main reason the wifey wanted to go here for dinner. Overall it's another notch in the credit card melting steak restaurants. Nothing really stood out that would make me rush back.
