It Looks Like Big in Japan’s Restaurant Has Closed For Good | Eater Montreal

The service was impressively fast—our food came out much quicker than expected—and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The flavours were good, with a nice blend of spice and seasoning that made the meal enjoyable. That said, it wasn’t quite the seafood boil experience I was hoping for. Still, it was a satisfying meal, and if you’re looking for a quick, flavourful seafood fix, it’s definitely a reliable option.

Google
It looked good on paper and in our minds but when it came to actually dining at Captain's Boil reality set in that we didn't like it much at all. The food tasted the same even with different flavours. And why do they give us plastic bags of food when they could just toss it in a metal bowl? I found the plastic bag concept wasteful. By the time we finished one bag of food, and emptied the next batch the food already gotten cold. The food was pretty expensive for what it was too. I would not recommend this style of dining at the pricepoint offered. Sorry, but I would not return anytime soon. Booth seats were a bit greasy too.

These people are not flexible. I was gonna get the buy one get one for free through Uber eat but the app messed up and showed only 1 order. I called the restaurant to see if they could fix it. They told me to cancel my order on uber eat. The cancelation fee is 33$ !!! . Now i got a tiny bag of Shrimp with a hole in it for $36. Total scam. Do not buy food from there. They have no shame scamming people. Just cook at home and save money. Im gonna cancel my uber eat…

Ordered the Dungeness crab seafood boil with the Captain’s boil Flavour which is considered top notch. I agree as the Cajun spice which was chosen for the fish teriyaki sizzling plate was overly garlicky with an overpowering metallic taste. When combined as leftovers, it was much better. The fish teriyaki was amazing! I recommend that, very flavorful. The service was great as were the options. Remember the food comes in large portions best suited to sharing between two or more people. Not cheap but a good option in the Vancouver area. Parking is hellish in the Union Square Shopping Centre. Be prepared for some smart maneuvering to get a spot.

Google
5 stars all around. First time coming to this location. The food was so tasty, juicy and flavourful, combined with friendly service. I asked the guy for an extra side of the Cajun sauce because the Kingsway location boil was so dry and not flavourful. Didn’t even have to use the extra cup of sauce! Everything already came as it should! Come here instead of the Kingsway location!

It’s been a while since I’ve been to captains boil. COVID really delayed things and never got around to it. So we started having an itch for Cajun seafood and settled this place. We were pleasantly surprised. The first thing is that the food was super hot and fresh. That’s definitely a plus. The Captains boil seasoning is excellent. Has some kick, but not overwhelming in terms of heat ( medium spice). The sides (fries and seafood fried rice) were excelled. Considering this restaurant is not known for rice dishes, we we definitely enjoyed it. The seafood, especially the shrimp, was so deliciously. I settled on the headless shrimp cause I can’t stand shrimp eyes looking at me, while I eat. The service was good. Staff were attentive and made the experience highly welcoming. The dining room is a bit congested and the washrooms could use a renovation. However, the food makes up for it. I would definitely recommend this location.

Been here plenty of times over a 7 year span, was always really good and tasty. Went back for the first time in close to 3 years and maybe it’s just me but the food tasted different, the service is subpar at best and the overall quality is just okay. Got the 1lb shrimp with garlic butter and 2 sides of corn, firstly the shrimp was okay, the corn well it’s corn so it was okay, the garlic butter was tasty I will say. Also got the sizzle plate, wouldn’t recommend it rice is grainy and hard, portion was okay but you’re better off getting your own customized bag of seafood with sides for the price. Got Cajun fries use to be amazing and the reason I came, barely seasoned just tasted like regular fries not worth it. Thought I would point out, I got a side of broccoli with my order $8.50 lol, kinda outrageous for a few prices of broccoli with no added sauce mix, not sure how they justify there prices same with there other “premium sides”. Also service was extremely rushed and just felt even more odd with simple requests, turns out the server was off or going on break because we saw him leave out the door, so I guess that makes sense but still shouldn’t take away from the dining experience. With all that being said this is a place you can go with a big party for the experience, seafood and overall time of the eating experience but other than that I wouldn’t come back with just a few people when there’s plenty of other places that offer the same quality for the same price. Like always this is my opinion and I’ve had good times here many times but after trying it again definitely won’t be craving or coming back.

Google
We were two people and ordered the Captain’s Platter. It was amazing. All the ingredients in the platter were fresh, hot and delicious. We would definitely come here again to enjoy the amazing food they provide.

Yelp
Have been one of my family's favourite seafood spot since before COVID. Love that their combo comes with so much seafood, sides and entrees we always come out incredibly stuffed by the end. Their food are always amazingly seasoned, their fried rice is spicy and the kick of spice is mouth watering. Their seafood like lobster, mussels and clam are sold by the pound on market price.
google avatar

Yelp
My family and I were craving some seafood boil, so we went to this restaraunt. Unfortunately, we probably won't ever come back here again. Not only was the quality of the food lacking, but they barely put any sauce on the seafood, as we picked up many of them and they were bare. When we requested for them to put more sauce on the food, they charged us extra, even though we explained to them it barely came with sauce in tbe first place. Alrhough the ambience of the restaraunt was ok and seemed nice, the staff were not the friendliest and barely tended to us as we ate. We had to get up and look for them for any questions/help because they were inattentive. There is a parking lot out front, but parking gets taken up fairly quickly. The restaraunt can hold maybe 10 parties inside, so it is a good medium sized restaraunt.

Yelp
Very good food with fresh taste and strong flavor, nice place for friends party and family!

Yelp
I ordered a pound of snow crab and an egg and corn. I got the captain sauce which was bomb but the crab meat seemed like it's old and overcooked. The corn was dry and not juicy. The egg was just a regular hard boiled egg. For the lobster roll, it was good. If you don't like celery, you should ask for less! The service was great. The server kept check up on me to see how the food was.

Yelp
The Captains Boil has always been more of a curiosity to me than a 'must try.' Actually wanted to go to a Korean restaurant close by but it wasn't open yet so went here instead. Should have waited the extra half hour for the Korean restaurant to open. The Captains Boil was just ok. Perhaps it would have be better to come in with a large group or family. Might get more bang for your buck that way!? Regardless, it's quite pricey if you want the 'good stuff' seafood - see menu pix! I wasn't prepared to spend so much knowing there's excellent Happy Hours all over Metro Vancouver were one can get excellent seafood - at the right price. Over 100 bucks for seafood - it better be friggin orgasmic! Right!? We had the Lobster Sliders with Cajun Fries (the Cajun Fries at Popeyes are way better) & the Garlic Shrimp - specials offered before 5pm. There was just nothing exciting about this experience - food tasted ok but had zero razzmatazz. Sad! Would I return? Only with a large group as a means of gauging if the Captain's Boil is any good at all. If you are planning on coming here, I recommend you have a look at the menu ahead of time & give yourself an idea of what to expect price wise.

Yelp
Restaurant is spacious, though it was busy on the weekend we were seated immediately. We ordered Captain Boil flavours for both clam and shrimp boils to share. The corn sides were tasty and the clam was fine. Shrimp was a bit overcooked. Overall it was fine.

Yelp
Heads up that this is a restaurant where you use your hands to eat. Costumers are provided with plastic bib and gloves, I have witnessed a costumer who left as theirs no spoons provided, that was two years ago, just ask nicely and they surely will provide utensils. Been here many times, and was always satisfied with their services, I love the foods the spicy level and Richmond branch is so far the best to me compared to other area. You can either go with their combo's or by pounds, if its your first time, I recommend the combo as it has all four types of seafood. The menu is very detailed choose the meat, the sauce the spicy level. They have delicious sauce type and my favourite would be the Cajun and garlic. If you have high spicy level, go for the fire or volcano level. Some complain its messy, but I think its up to the one eating how organize you are, theirs a bucket provided to put shells, or just on the table. So far the price has always been consistent, and cleanliness was well observed, I highly recommend this area to seafood lovers and spicy eaters, their are other non seafood as well such as chicken, vegetables and fries.

Yelp
It was right desicion to chose here for dine in after 2 months self isolation. I don't remember how many times I said hmmmmmm closing eyes. Those dishes have to be eaten right here on the table. We had mid level of Captain boil spice with dungeness crab, clams, shrimp, potato, okra, lotus roots and rice. Everything tasted delicious and we combined two bags to enjoy left sauce with rice at last. Maybe not good behavior but so good. All seafood extract comes together. I highly recommend the deep fried lotus roots which has interesting texture and lots of sauce in the holes. It was eye opening deliciousness.

Yelp
I tried this place 2 years ago, but decided to try it again after coming across it on DoorDash! Gotta say, it was delicious!! I had the garlic shrimp! As someone who is an extreme seafood lover, this satisfied my cravings!! I've tried their Cajun fries and it was delicious as well!!! After going there a few years ago, ordering in during the weekends for me is always the better option! The parking could be something they could work on, considering it's so packed! It's competitive to get a spot on sunny weekends! Overall, will order in again! It was fast and quite tasty!

Yelp
2nd time to this location since grand opening (was disappointed on grand opening) but decided to try again and give this location another shot Much improvement from before. Service was readily available and quick. Busier location than Vancouver locations. Have parking available but always packed. Had the following - 6 raw oysters - average but decent size Shrimp - not mushy like previous experience Mussels - not chewy, flavourful, large in size Snow crab - average, not that big for price Clams - very good Corn - bit mushy and over cooked Shrimp fried rice - average, nothing too special Unlike the Vancouver location, no pitcher for pop but individual cans sold per Thought there we be some consistency but assume being franchise, not all same

Yelp
Great experience and great food. We ordered the pirate's feast which came with our choice of crab, 1lb each of shrimp, mussels, and clams, seafood fried rice, cajun fries, and a whole bunch of sides. There was more than enough food to feed 4 people and we were all very satisfied. The crab was perfectly cooked and had a good amount of meat, the mussels were massive and very flavourful, the clams were a bit small but were still good, and some of the shrimp were overcooked and mushy but that did not ruin the meal for us. We all enjoyed eating with our hands, which adds to the positive experience of this place. It's definitely a treat to come here as the flavours can be very heavy and the prices aren't cheap, but overall everyone had a great time!

Yelp
Been here twice and our experienced was very good. The place is not that busy so we were seated right away. The place is very spacious and staff are very friendly. This branch is very consistent with their quality of sauce as it's very tasty and flavorful. Was happy with our visit.

Yelp
Captain's Boil is a franchise. I am not a big fan of Captain's Boil seafood because the flavors doesn't seem to be there. Most of their seafood are frozen and are already cooked but than recooked with the sauces or seasoning. Seems a bit lacking and most of the time its not like super fresh but they still charge premium for it. This Captain's Boil has the Lobster Roll Combo offered for $14.95. It comes with Lobster Bisque and a Lobster Roll. The bisque was so so. It didn't taste like Lobster Bisque at all. It was super salty. The Lobster Roll was good but it was only good because the lobsters were served on a garlic bread. Of course its good. Anything garlicy in my mind is tasty. Definitely not the traditional Lobster Roll that I am used to. I also got the fried shrimps on top. It was ok. It came with fries and I have to say the fries were good. They were seasoned in Cajun spices. Overall it was ok. Parking is plentiful outside. I probably won't come back. Its not like something I would be craving for.

Yelp
I have been to the Captain's Boil at least a dozen times. Always a good time, good service, and of course good sea food. Personally, I mostly only care about shrimp so I cannot speak much to the other menu items. the AYCE deal is good only if you know you can eat more than 2lbs. Otherwise, buying at regular price may end up being cheaper. Happy to see that they brought back the good sauce mix with garlic and everything else after it went downhill for a while around a year ago.

Yelp
I waited to year to go to this Captains Boil, I was so excited and it was my birthday. My partner and I ordered the Lobster, it tasted very bad and was chewy, so we ordered the Crawfish, they came and were full of dirt and mud, we both tried to eat one and had to tell the waitress. We did not pay for the crawfish but we had to pay for the Lobster, which was $85.00 after tax, my partner and I are dealing with food poising now, we are from Chilliwack and I shit myself and vomited about an hour after at a Gas station in Abbotsford B.C. I have health problems and have to be really careful with where I eat, so I'm quite sad and disappointed in the whole thing. Currently both into our thirds gravol for the evening and may have to go to the hospital I wish we could get our money back and wish they would be more careful for peoples health and safety.

Yelp
FanTASTIC food! I love this style of seafood and the experience is quite fun being able to eat straight from the bag with the shrimp doused in sauce. The "spicy" is not quite spicy so I'd recommend upping the level if you like a kick. The service was kind of slow and we had to frequently raise our hands to be helped if we wanted something. My husband had the chicken tenders and fries and they (the tenders) were very large sized. The garlic bread was fairly simple however yummy, slightly over priced but a great side to add onto everything else.
google avatar

Lucy D.

Yelp
We came in hungry and craving seafood. We walked out pretty satisfied. We ordered a lb of mussel, clam and shrimp each. Mussel was cooked in garlic sauce and that was the best. Clam and shrimp were cooked in Cajun. The spice was mild and good. We also added 2 portions of lotus root which was a lot. Overall, pretty good food although slightly pricy if you want to get a full meal with just the seafoods.

Yelp
Getting to eat with your hands? Awesome I'm in! This restaurant is great for larger groups as well. The seafood options are great! I got the king crab, muscles, broccoli, corn clams and of course the fries. The food was great! No complaints there. I will def be going back! The flavours are unreal Service has room for improvement, needed to waive down a server everytime we needed something.

Yelp
Love the Captain's feast. It comes with lobster, king crab, crab, 2 pounds of shrimp and so much more. It could feed 6 comfortably. I love how if you don't want extra sides you can option out for pop. The service was pleasant, went twice for a birthday. Out of all the locations I've visited this one was the best. Clean, friendly. If you love spicy get the fire or volcano . Our tab was around $280 ish but I feel it had more value ordering this place then ala carte. All captain boils have diff combos as the robson location does not have this. Parking is not to bad as it is a plaza but do expect to park further from the restaurant. I would come back to this location

Yelp
Wow this place was busy when my family arrived! I can tell that they serve good food as everyone looked happy and enjoying their meal. People seem to come in groups as food here is meant to be shared. I was asleep in the car when we headed out for dinner. We ended up here but I had no idea where we were. This visit was my first time. I let my family do the ordering, I wasn't really picky, I was quite sick, actually. I had very little energy. Anyhow, this place serves mostly seafood. We had to wait 10 minutes till our orders came. We ordered lobsters, mussels, clams, okra, and shrimp. Food arrived consecutively and my family chowed down immediately. Food came in plastic bags. I slowly took a bite of my shrimp and boy, was it hot! It was also mildly spicy. I don't usually like spicy foods but I guess this isn't so bad. The food here is tasty and they are generous on their sauce. You pay by the lb. It's best to come with a group. It's great for special occasions.

Yelp
Finally decided to check this place out! I didn't hear good verbal reviews of this place from friends and coworkers but I still wanted to see for myself since I am writing the review! To my surprise, it's not as salty as others have said and the seafood is still fresh and be portion is fair for the price! Other than Alaskan King crab and Dungeness Crab priced at market price, most seafood items are per pound with Minimum order of 1 pound. We ordered 1 pound of snow crab at $22 and 1 pound of mussels at $13.99, One seafood fried rice, a side order of lotus root (deep fried). We chose garlic butter for the muscle and the captains boil specialty sauce for the snow crab. The muscles were very large and fresh and the snow crab for 1 pound there was quite a bit for two their captain boil sauce was very good! I loved the way they made the lotus roots - it was so chewy and I never thought of deep frying lotus roots (normally would cook it in a soup or stirfry it and in slices). I also had one small piece of corn which cost me way too much compared to the price of the lotus root
google avatar

Shirley Y.

Yelp
This restaurant is novel, seafood in a bag! The seafood was delicious, we had clams, mussels, shrimp and snow crab legs. The sauces were strong flavoured, we tried the captain boil which was all seasonings mixed and the garlic. Wooow watch out for all the garlic, hopefully everyone you go home with had the same or there might be a problem with garlic breath. A word of warning to those whom are not so adept yet at shelling your seafood to DO NOT WEAR WHITE! I have a few stains on my white pants which my never come out. Anyone have a bleach stick?! Overall it was a good experience. The day after however is a bit rough, too much salt?, MSG?, something that keeps me wanting to drink gallons of water or something cold and fizzy. Have fun.

Yelp
Having passed by its many locations a number of times, I was excited to give this place a try. My boyfriend and I ordered a pound of snow crab, a pound of mussels, okra, and fries. We had the okra and mussels steamed together. Not knowing which seasoning to try, we stuck with the standard Captain's Boil seasoning, which had a little kick to it (you can choose the spiciness so we went with mild). It had been a while since I had crab so it was great to eat so much of it! We definitely had more than enough food for the two of us. The fries were surprisingly really good. I think I would come back here for a special occasion rather than as an everyday type of meal, as the prices are not exactly cheap since it is fresh seafood after all!

Yelp
Our little work lunch group has been dining here for work weekday lunches pretty consistently. Often the Captain's name comes up when we're trying to decide what to eat. So obviously, the girls who work there, know who we are. We love their lunch combo special which we can't really get tired of. Not yet anyways. Although the next time we will have to try out the Lobster (Po Boy) Sandwich and Bisque combo for around $15.00. After all, where else ya gonna get Cajun style food? And who doesn't love Okra? (ok ok, so our Japanese food Critique doesn't like it, but who cares? ). WE love Okra and Corn and Sausages and Crawfish. We love to put spicy Cajun things between our lips. We love the Captain's Best thing of all is that we love their chicken! I dunno about you, but I go for the Chicken and If I'm peckish enough, I'll order Okra. DAMN I wish they could make Chicken Gumbo for the winter. I'd love that! And again, WHO doesn't love Chicken Gumbo! ....hope it shows up on the menu.....please? I might have mentioned it before, but there was another such place similar to this that tried to offer Cajun Seafood like the Captain's here in Richmond and sadly they didn't succeed. I think the mentality of the consumer just wasn't there then, not mature enough palette wise. However, at times when I come by here, I do see that this place is busy. Especially during dinner and customers will order King Crab and other dishes that I certainly can't afford to eat daily. My doctor would kill me for eating such rich food all the time. I think the customer base here is a bit better informed now and you won't get little prissy ladies expecting a posh dining experience here. I'm sure the customers know that here, you get down and dirty with it. It's all hands on deck and you chow down on your GRUB with GUSTO and your not afraid to Masticate your meal with your bare hands! Timing seems to be right for the Captain. He's finally come ashore with the right seafood at the right time. BTW, I did a little quickie video I put up online to help illustrate this place a bit better and showcase just how much fun you can have dining here! https://youtu.be/Bc0mupnW8k4 Enjoy!! Typos free of charge with every review written thumbs up!

Yelp
The staff is slow and rude. They messed up our order TWICE. They did not come back to check on you. The seafood fried rice made me gag

Yelp
Good service / they always checked on you Good food/ many options but the crawfish tasted "old" nd probably the worst of them all, I don't suggest crawfish Very dirty so not really good for small children If i had to choose 1 dish: mussels with their captains boil sauce and medium spicy Would I go back ? Yes

Yelp
3.5 stars for this location. I had to come back 'cause it was soo good the last time I ate at Captain's boil. This time around we tried: -Lemon Pepper sauce -Capitain's boil - Cajun We got it in mild 'cause one of us don't eat spicy so we didn't want to kill her by ordering medium. We got shrimps and mussel this time and market price was the same as last time. Not sure if this actually changes for shrimp/mussel/clams. I didn't pay attention to the lobster and crab. My favourite would definite have to be captain's boil sauce at MEDIUM or the Cajun is not bad at mild. It has a bit of sweetness to it. I think the sauce is prepared better at the Richmond location compared to the downtown location. Service at the Richmond location is not all too great since it was hard to pin down a server to get our order in or to get the bill (which is why I knocked down .5 stars).

Yelp
Had 2 Dungeness crab plus a seafood fried rice plus 4 sides....for 3 people price was ok. Did not need the fried rice as the 2 crabs were enough. Maybe substitute a shrimp dish next time. The fried rice was not that good but hey it is a boil place, so not their forte. The side of corn was a piece of corn inside the crab bag. The side of potatoe was a whole inside the same crab bag. Each crab has 2 sides included. crackers and scissors were provided, but picks would have helped. Next time I will bring my own pick. And too bad no wet serviettes were provided. we had poor fitting gloves and a bib each to wear. Next time bring my own better fitting gloves. price...ok surprisingly portions....ok taste....ok parking.....not ok, very tightly packed and very bad drivers at that lot!

Yelp
Came here a few times over the years. Chicken slices are excellent value, a pound of shrimp is also plenty for one person, or to share with two. The kitchen gives a very generous amount of sauce, but I wish there were some updates to the menu or seasonal specials to change it up a bit. Their sizzling teriyaki chicken is a good filler and quite tasty as well. I usually recommend letting the plate cool for around 30 seconds before pouring the teriyaki sauce so the sauce doesn't instantly spray everywhere and stick to the hot plate. Doing this will also prevent the sauce from smoking instantly and making you smell like teriyaki for the rest of the day / night! Dining can get messy, but that's what boils are all about. I still can't comprehend how their chicken slices are so tender and juicy though! Pressure pot shinanigans?!

Yelp
Visited to this place alone and for the first time. It was their busiest hour so I had to stand there for a little before the waitress noticed me but was eventually seated quickly. After that I asked for cold water but served hot water instead, but it didn't matter to me. I ordered 1 pound of shrimps($15) with the signature sauce, 1 pound of snow crab legs($27) with garlic sauce and a Cajun fries as the side($6.5). The seafood was nicely seasoned for my taste. The flavour was enough, and the heat was not overpowering despite that I selected the hottest level. However imo the fries was just regular fries without any Cajun spices. They serve it with a little fruity sweet and sour sauce but that's not Cajun either. The experience of eating the seafood was nice and fun, however the snow crab legs were a pain in the ass for me. Maybe I m just a chump at doing this but I think a pair of scissors are not the most efficient tool for cracking crab legs. I was eating non-stop and it still took me almost 1.5 hrs to finish my meal xd. The pricing and values are ok. Would I visit this place again? Probably yes, occasionally.

Yelp
I think there are more locations now and richmond is the first one? Not sure but I came here a few times now and I've tried a lot of these crawfish style restaurants and had poor luck but Captain's Boil was a pleasant experience! There are a few flavours to choose from all of which I have tried and can vouch that they all taste good. I usually stick with Cajun and captains mix which I get to tweak a little more to my liking. I order pretty much everything from king crab legs, prawns, clams, to potatoes and corn. The flavour really gets absorbed into the meat which gives it a rly nice pop of taste. I advise eating quickly though. The food gets cooled off pretty quickly and sometimes that kinda has a bad effect on the taste. For example when the clam cools down and gets cold it's kinda gross to eat. Other than that, the restaurant is pretty cool. The interior is awesome with pirate like designs on the wall. Your table is lined with one long sheet of brown paper, you're given a bib and some gloves then they dump your bags of food onto the table. Overall a neat experience and tasty food!

Yelp
Ran into this place after checking out another restaurant in the same plaza. Due to the disappointment we decided to find another place for Finder and settled on here. Place was very busy and crowded but they still managed to seat us almost immediately. We've been to many seafood boils so we are very familiar with how things go. Place seemed to be very clean. There was a bib, gloves, and utensils for each person already on the table when we got seated. Seafood was market priced. They had other entrees if you didn't want to get the book which is nice. We got a lb of the king crab, crawfish, and mussels. Each one came with the option of corn, potatoes, steamed rice, or sausage. They had a few distant flavors to choose from as well. We got different flavors for each one since we wanted to try several different ones. We tried captains special, garlic sauce, and Cajun. We weren't very impressed with any of them really. Nothing special. Heads up, garlic sauce has ALOT of garlic so it can very very overwhelming. Price wise is a bit expensive. We probably won't come back again.

Yelp
Worst experience ever!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION.. I was utterly disappointed. We came here for all you can eat mussels... 1. The first round of mussels were cold and raw 2.my second round of mussels never came (3/4 of the table got their order and finished) 3. The waitress assured that she followed up on it .. 4. I waited 30 min and still nothing (what is the point of all you can eat, if you are forced to sit there and watch you friends to eat. 5. Mussels were not cleaned properly 6. Forgot our orders twice 7. When asked about it, the waitress claimed the mussels came with the other bag (2 lbs in a bag for the same flavour) , but all other orders at the table came in individual bags. The management was rude and won't admit their wrong doings. 8. They messed up my orders, i ordered non spicy and they turned out to be spicy.

Yelp
I was so glad that we now have a crawfish or seafood boil place opened up here . Finally -- It's about time ! We went on a Saturday night and as expected , this place was jam packed. We put our names down and they said to wait for about half n hour and they would call us when they're ready . Luckily we found a parking next to the place else it might get hard to find parking and so we waited in the car as they had no room to wait for. People were lined up outside the restaurant . They took about half n hour as promised and called us in . We ordered Crawfish , Snowcrabs in their Captain Boil's Sauce and the Fire hot spice level , fries and corn on the side . Usually any crawfish place you go to they give you corn , sausages and potatoes on the side but here you pay $1.50 for half a corn . We didn't even bother with the potatoes and sausages . The fries were probably one of the best fries I've ever had . So crispy and flavourful - just on point ! The Sauce on the crab and crawfish was alright but felt it was superficially coated on top of the items ordered . Maybe they didn't season the boil ! Not sure and crabs were a little tough and over cooked . Extremely expensive place for the quantity you get ...And not many combo selections on the menu . Hoping they would change that in the near future ! Otherwise excellent service . Till then might have to do my own crab boil at home or go to the States to satisfy my cravings :)

Yelp
Went here for a dinner date with my wife....we are used to going to boiling crab in LA that we decided to gice this place a try.... The taste of the boil.base was spot on and just delish. u can choose from.lemon.and pepper to very spicy base. Food arrived hot and fresh. Taste was good. The portion of 1 crab was just right as well as the shirmps. However, everything else is.extra and kinda overpriced..specially the corn. 1 ORDER is not actually 1 pc but half a corn. Sausage was around 6.95 for not even a full sausage. We ordered crab and shrimp combo with corn and rice total bill for 2 came out to around $60. Guess seafood is really premium...lol. Would i go back? Sure, but not often as too pricey and not that filling. Went back for lunch one to try the platter specials, was not happy as portions were.small. never order crawfish as there is almost no meat and all shells. Side note: ive gone home and researched how to make the boil, and made it exactly like theirs...lol. Happy eating!

Yelp
Tons of flavour, pretty good quality, and good pricing (although it depends on what you order). Their gimmick would be that you eat with your hands in which the restaurant will provide you with plastic gloves to do so. The seafood will also arrive in a plastic bag. Go for: heavily-flavoured seafood Don't go for: subtlety in your food, eating with utensils, if you have plans after dinner as your clothes will smell

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed because although the seafood IS fresh, the flavors were just not there. We tried all three flavors, and ordered fire level of spicyness. However, it was just super red and appealing instead of any taste of chili or spicys. It's almost like throwing a tons of colorful tasteless Cajun powder on the seafood. Please do not order those rice teriyaki combos after 4 o'clock (?). On the menu it looks so beautiful, with seafood, chicken, fish and rice on hot stones. After 4, it's just a few pieces of chickens scattered around a huge pile of white rice. Honestly I think they should just take it off the menu after 4 o clock because what you actually get on the table is just not worth $12. Everything else is actually really wallet friendly. If you want fresh seafood and don't mind not much about flavors, this is where to go.

Yelp
Booked a reservation a month in advance for 8 people. That's something you have to do as they are super busy - there was a line up out the door the whole night we were there. Parking is a serious issue here so go early, you'll be driving around searching for a spot. Carefully parking at another lot close by - they are watching to ticket. They didn't seem very organised (we were moved tables twice even with the reservation), took a long time to get just water, let alone drinks. With what we ordered, you expect to get crackers to break the shells but we had to wait until another table finished to use theirs. Even with all these factors, the food was good. We would all go back. It was fun to order a range of seafood items and choose the spice/flavour/hotness. Okra was perfectly done. Snow crab legs were huge. Oysters were clean - no sand.

Yelp
Went during Grand Opening week and my goodness, was it busy! Without reservations, you were easily in for an hour wait. I've tried restaurants with similar concepts in the past and I must say, this is definitely one of the better ones I've tried. Service was quick; however, it was noticeable that the service staff was overwhelmed and understaffed. We went to town on the menu with our seafood selection being King Crab, Muscles, Clams, Shrimp, Crawfish to fillers like Chorizo sausage, cajun fries and corn. You order seafood by the pound and prices were $11-$13/lb unless you're ordering premium items which can get up to $20-$40/lb. In terms of sauce, we chose the "Captain's Boil" which was a mix of cajun, lemon pepper and garlic - deadly trio! I personally found it to be a tad too spicy.. The bibs and gloves made the dining experience all the more fun! Our menu came to be about $180 tips and tax in for our party of four. It was pretty loud and incredibly packed but that was expected for Grand Opening week. A few of the items ordered were missed during the course of dinner, but the staff was quick to follow up. Cool place to check out for a different dining experience!

Yelp
It's a unique experience - the tables are covered in paper, you're given gloves and bibs, and your food is delivered in plastic bags. Food is tasty and prices are okay. It can be messy though, don't wear nice or light coloured clothes.

Yelp
Food: It was good. It is probably recommended to order some side dishes to be added to each entree you order as it would be quite plain otherwise. Be aware that the spicy is actually spicy. However, there isn't a lot of choices on the sauce. You can either chose one of three sauces of a mixture of all three. It is not possible to select a mix of two of the three sauces. Also, after eating for a bit, the flavours really do start getting mixed together. One thing to note however, is the over usage of disposables. Starting from the plastic bids they give to the plastic bags that the food comes in. Not to mention the plastic cups, bowls and cutlery. The entire thing just feel incredibly wasteful, especially if they don't take the time to sort out the food waste to be composted (which I highly doubt as that would affect their turnover rate) Decor: Nice nautical atmosphere. I like the rope hanging from the ceiling that gives off a maritime feeling Prices: Moderate. You are paying by weight, and a lot of the seafood has shells that throw that off a lot.

Yelp
I probably went to this place when it just first open and it was jam packed with a line up outside. Luckily I made reservations! Out of all the seafood places like this style, this one is probably one of the better places. They give you bibs and gloves in case you're OCD and cant stand eating with your hands...LOL! My family went all out and had to order everything - shrimp, lobster, snow crab legs, corn, clam, mussels, sausages, beer. We chose the signature 3 mix sauce (captains boil) and medium spicy - good kick of spice but still enjoyable. The service was really quick so no complaints about the service. The bill came up to be $180 after tips which was expected and around average price. Im glad that a restaurant like this finally came to town! I would recommend anyone to come try this place. :)

Yelp
This review is on the food ONLY as I ordered through the Skip The Dishes app. I ordered the snow crab legs with potato, corn, and sausage add-ons. Pros: * The portions were okay for the price of $32 (rounded) and the captain boils sauce was spot-on and delicious. * Take out packaging is nice and includes bibs with their logo on it and extra napkins Cons: * One piece of corn even though extra money was added to include it into the meal $1.25. * Only 5 slices of sausage for $7. * Snow crab legs were not fresh at all and obviously old or have been frozen prior - which really defeats the whole seafood boil... Overall takeaway: Food is overpriced and not worth the $32 I paid. $7 for a few thin slices of sausage is a rip-off. The seafood was not fresh and I couldn't even finish one leg. Very disappointing. I will not come back again unless this improves.

Yelp
First time trying out this place. I know there's multiple locations but we were in the area. Went with a few friends for a total of 4 of us. It was fairly busy, as we expected for dinner time. When we got in, unfortunately nobody greeted us, but we waited patiently for about 10 minutes before we got seated. When we eventually did get seated, we ordered as soon as we could to get our order in. Didn't order anything special - crab, shrimp and mussels with rice and a fried shrimp basket and some drinks. Shrimp basket came before drinks. Shrimp and mussels came before rice. We asked again for it, but still didn't come till after we got crab legs. So service was very mediocre. But benefit of the doubt that it's because they seemed short staff? Food was soooo tasty and loved the flavor! We chose Captains Boil for flavor and it would definitely be the reason I'd come back. Maybe at a different location though. Parking was also a pain, but we got pretty lucky.

Yelp
This is a franchise from Toronto. According to their website, their food is Asian-Louisiana Creole fusion. The best thing about this place is that they know what they're doing since the restaurant has been around for decades and it's just the location that is different. It just creates a great experience when everything about a place has a solid style. The appearance of the restaurant inside and outside look really appealing, and it's what drew me to go in the first place. First thing I noticed when I walked in is that it smelled so good, like a blend of garlic and other spices. I also loved the nautical themed decoration with ropes, lamps, and ocean things like seashells. All the tables are covered with brown paper, and equipped with plastic aprons and gloves. Makes you curious when you go for the first time. Food tastes great! Seafood came in a bag. It was very fun. Put your apron and gloves on and dig in. The Their rice dish... Not as good. It's just a mound of rice with small pieces of meat around it. And only comes with seafood platter before 4pm, so then it's not really worth the price after 4pm, and it seems other reviewers think so too. Also, they have craft beer available, but it's only on the racks and not refrigerated, so it seems to me as more of a part of the decoration that a menu item. No one wants warm beer... I would come back with some friends so we can try more things together. I really like my seafood in bags now LOL!

Yelp
Food is great, service is terrible. The shrimps with captain boil's flavour are the best. After peeling the shrimp, it's necessary to dip it back into the bag of oil for flavour. My boyfriend got the crawfish last time and 90% of it were shells; it was about 20$/lb... So that was a waste of money. The bags are filled with oil and it leaks on the table lined with a single long sheet of paper. The gloves are cheap, and breaks very easily. The fish and chips, and wings were pretty good. It's super hot out of the fryer so wait a couple minutes before diving into it. I've been here twice and we had to wait to be seated because the employees were having a conversation in the open. Then they looked at us and looked at each other to decide who wants to bring us to our table... Ridiculous. There were at least 4-6 people standing in front of the house with only two customers inside the store! No one checked on us and we also had to wait for someone to look our way to get our bill. Overall, I would come back for the food but definitely not for the service. Edit: Never get the calamari, waste of 12.50! You only get 8 small pieces.... Spend it on a pound of shrimp instead

Yelp
Service has gotten better but Food has gotten worse and worse over time. Everything just takes like frozen food. Which it 100% is.
