The 17 Best Restaurants & Bars In Breckenridge, Colorado

"You might not expect a great seafood restaurant in the mountains of a landlocked state, but that’s exactly what you’ll find at the Carlin, which is located inside a luxury inn on Main Street. An epic night here starts with a tower of oysters, shrimp, crab, ceviche, and pickled mussels, and only gets better the more seafood you tack on. Double down on bivalves with an order of wood-fired oysters topped with compound butter, breadcrumbs, and lemon, or dip toasty batons of bread into a bowl of manila clams and chorizo. Finish off your night with an espresso martini, or head downstairs to their cocktail tavern for a nightcap." - anne cruz

Our first experience was in the Underground Tavern below the Carlin (same chef/kitchen) and just couldn't get over the great service provided by Chase and the food was out of this world. (Dynamite Shrimp app, fish tacos and burger) On our way out that night we booked a reservations for The Carlin (upstairs) and just lost our minds with the service and food once again. Our server Connor was fantastic and the Manager was attentive as well. We ordered the Chicken & Dumplings and the Mahi Mahi. Just incredible. This place is working some serious magic. Cocktails were magnificent!

Stopped in for some oysters, appetizers, and a cocktail. The wood fire and raw bar is exceptional. I love the atmosphere. Came back 5/16 for our anniversary dinner. Got the fish & chips with mahi mahi. Excellent service and a lot more oysters.

I arrived at Carlin's at 3:45 and was the first in line to get in. We got seated for their 4-5PM Happy Hour with no issues with a party of six and they accommodated for us adding two more people (though told us when they needed the table by) which alone gives them a 5/5. Suggest you get a reservation! I ordered: 1 Au Jus Slider ($4) (5/5) Best thing on the menu for value. I appreciate that they put pickles on the side. Order two and a cocktail for a truly great happy hour. Clam Chowder ($10): (3/5) Served Manhattan style so it's watery, not as thick as New England style. I thought it was a bit light on ingredients, not the best value. 2 Select Oysters ($2.50 ea) (4.5/5): Served with lemon, very tasty. I liked these more than the wood fired ones. 3 Wood Fired Oysters ($3.50 ea) (4/5): Very well cooked and very flavorful. My only critique is that the oysters used (from British Colombia?) were quite small. Brussel Sprouts (shared) (4.5/5): Good portions, little heat from the szechuan vinegarette but not too hot. Tasted from friends: Buttermilk Gruyere Biscuits (shared) (4.5/5): Four huge biscuits with a pretty good butter. The biscuits are extremely rich, buttery and cheesy. Great value for $7 for four. Hushpuppies (shared) (3.5/5): Tasty, just not my style. Grouper Fish and Chips (shared) (4.5/5): Solid portions for both fries and a huge piece of fish. Amazing value and also pretty sharable. Tasted my friend's Manhattan and found it excellent. It's stronger than others we had on Main Street. Oysters were served with a habanero pear sauce and an Ancho sauce. We all agreed the Ancho sauce is more flavorful. I enjoyed the variety here and would say it stands up to some of the best happy hours in Breckenridge, way better than Aurum according to my friends. We rated it equivalent to Hearthstone but with more interesting variety. I'd come back for the fish and chips, brussel sprouts, and sliders over any other happy hour on Main. If I had one criticism I'd say the speed of food service is a bit strange. Four of our sliders came out quickly but I was waiting for mine for over 35 minutes. Maybe they forgot my order.

Let me start this with the GOOD of our experience: At arrival, we were greeted with extremely friendly faces. We were given complimentary bubbly and Pickled Mussels as a wedding gift, wonderful. The oysters (ordered 3 each of all 4 kinds) were fantastic, the crab cakes were out of this world. For dinner, he had the elk chops, they were okay, very grisly. I had the bone-in pork chops and it was outstanding. From there, it went downhill. Shortly after dinner, the host came by our table and requested we move to the “community” table to finish our meal as they had people waiting for maybe 5-10 min for a table. We spent over $300 on our meal to only be kicked from our table and be offered a $12 dessert to make up for it? No thanks. We immediately closed our tab and left. HIGHLY DISSAPPOINTED is an understatement. I was ready to spread all over on how great The Carlin was so while their food is, the management can use some training on what and what not to do if your guests are paying such a high price for a meal. Disappointed for sure!

What a gem. This is a beautiful upscale restaurant with fresh high end seafood flown in everyday, and awesome Raw Bar. The menu is amazing, the entrées are superb and the cocktails are delicious, with an limited, but exceptional wine choice. Downstairs is a beautiful lounge/bar area. There are 2 Happy Hours both upstairs and downstairs. The staff is just WOW, very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great experience and will return every time we are visiting.

Location, location, location. This has been by far the best place we have ever stayed for a quick skiing adventure. Right in the middle of everything - bonus for us - great background music from the restaurant downstairs and urban noise from the foot traffic. Super yummy food from very friendly waitstaff and chefs. Very friendly chill hosts. Great advice on everything. Very cool app makes check in process super easy. I caused the place a small inconvenience - bad parking job with our monster rental car - the staff was super chill about. I apologize profusely :-). Highly recommend this place if one is going to stay in Breckenridge.

The Carlin Restaurant was Amazing. Nice to get fresh seafood in the Mountains! The happy hour is great. Drinks were on spot! There is also a lovely bar downstairs. It’s a beautiful restaurant and bar. Nice addition to our favorite places to eat in Breck!
