"Slinging three-salad plates and building custom sandwiches since 1996, it’s rare not to see a line snaking out of this Thruway Shopping Center staple during lunch hours. Known for its signature spicy sesame noodles, daily soup specials, and chicken salad, this family-owned business has a devoted stream of regulars who keep the place humming. Diehard customers know to pick up extra orange ginger grilled shrimp when it’s on the daily specials board and not to skip out on desserts such as the housemade lemon bars, tres leches cake, triple fudge brownies, and rice pudding." - Nikki Miller-Ka

Great food. Sandwiches are delicious and the cold case items are always fresh. Amazing service. Comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend this deli.

Stopped here for a more healthier lunch option. To my surprise, this was pretty damn good. Got the #7 but they had no more corned beef, so they used pastrami instead. Was ridiculously good. Wasn't salty at all. Sandwich size was good as well for the price

I had the roast beef special with house potato salad. Other than hoagie being a tad crunchier than I prefer, food was delicious. Staff was friendly, price was $16 first pictured meal plus bottled water. Only miss was anyone cleaning tables after guests departed. Pretty quick turnaround and will definitely be back.

The owner had a bad attitude and the environment isn’t welcoming to “others”. The first issue was when I had arrived (it was just me in the establishment at the time) and as I was standing there didn’t receive any greeting but instead just stared at. But the next woman (whom didn’t look like me) received a greeting and welcome, ofcourse. It makes no sense that this is STILL happening in this country. We all have the same money to spend (if not more). The second issue was It’s $9.95 online to get what I got in store and it’s $10.95 when you go in the store. It makes 0 sense to me to have inconsistent pricing regardless if you’re using an online source to order or ordering in store. I called and spoke to one of the owners and she had an attitude problem instead of owning up to the issue and seeking a resolution. I will not be back. This type of service is unacceptable. Every customet should get treated equally and respected.

I came here on 1/18/21 around 4:20pm with a couple friends. One friend wanted to come here to get some spicy noodles. The restaurant was clean. Staff were wearing masks and they are required by guest. We didn’t sit down to eat or anything. However, you can come it. I got to try the spicy noodles. They were good, but cold. Plus, I don’t really do spicy. I also tried the beets, it was fine but not my cup of tea. It tasted like a foreign fruit. You are allowed to try the different items and they actually give you a decent amount. The store was clean and staff was friendly. No complaints 😊

Google
Great lunch spot, which is saying a lot for me because it's actually my least favorite meal of the day, but I just wanted to get out of the office more than anything else so I used this as the excuse! I had been here once before with coworkers and remembered having a great pastrami sandwich. This time around I ordered one of their specials, a turkey and pepperoni wrap (spinach) with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and banana peppers. I also couldn't resist and ordered a small side of their asian noodle salad. The wrap was huge, barely finished half, and the noodle salad was really tasty too, the sauce/dressing was a little thicker/creamier than I had expected, but it was delicious. Plenty of leftovers as usual. I did wait a bit, maybe 10-15 minutes in line because I arrived at 1230 during the lunch rush, but it was worth it. Pretty standard pricing, about $15. Bonus, they have beer and wine in case you need a little jolt of happy juice. Also, the place was all decked out for the holidays with a small lit up christmas tree and other ornaments/lighting, which I always appreciate with this being my favorite time of the year. Friendly service too. A good spot for a quick bite or a more leisurely meal if you prefer!

Google
First impressions is the business! My first impression was a great one. Staff where happy and food was excellent. I had time to speak with the staff and learn a little about the place. They have been in business 20 plus years and people drive over an hour to eat here. Great selection of food and I did see quite a bit I would like to try. If you are in town. Take the time to eat lunch here.

Google
I ordered a half roast beef sandwich with horseradish along with a side of Mexican bow tie pasta. It was so good! Whenever I am in WS around lunch time, I always stop here and eat. This is one of my favorite places to eat!!

Yelp
Wow!! I've never had chicken salad with grapes in it. I always strayed away, but today, I am convinced that apples and grapes go in chicken salad, especially when basil is involved. The sample bite they gave me had me doing a food dance in the line. The service was fast, customer oriented, and done all with a smile. When I walked around the corner after placing my order, I saw that there is also a seating area for dine in. Very nice place and there is also seating outside. I'll be back for sure!!!

Yelp
I went in for lunch for the first time as it's close to work for me. Everything looked good and it was pretty busy but the line was moving. Lots of choices of sides salads and a good menu. I decided to try a Ruben and a side of the beets as usually these are both things I love. I noticed as the woman put the sandwich to be cut the dressing seemed weird and I asked about it she said it's 1000 island. I asked again because it was very dark brown in color and she realized she had put honey mustard on it instead. I asked her if she could remake it because I really didn't want honey mustard on my sandwich. She looked very annoyed and was then told me to go sit a couple times she would bring it to me. And took the sandwich back. I wanted to make sure they didn't just change out the bread(which they did) and explained to another lady who cut me off rudely and said "got it" So I got a Ruben with honey mustard and 1000 which was mehh. The beets were fine, sweeter than I'm used to maybe but good. The prices are comparable to other places like this. The service was not really acceptable and if I was judging that alone I'd say don't bother coming here to receive an incorrect order and attitudes from staff. I've worked in restaurants most of my life and I would've apologized and remade the entire sandwich especially when it's something like a sauce or juicy item that will ruin the food. Plus it could've been an allergy. The point being it was wrong and they easily could've nicely corrected it; especially at $16+ for lunch for one person.

Yelp
This venerable spot has always had a rather broad array of items to choose from in the area of specialty sandwiches, BYO sandwiches, salads, quiche, and a nice amount of tasty, colorful side dishes. On this visit, I came specifically for the Curried Chicken Salad, which their website indicated would be available on this day. I order a Curried Chicken Sandwich on lightly toasted white bread - I really like the bread, it is fresh cut, thick and flavorful. I watched as the young lady cut the bread and placed the slices in a toaster, then things kind of froze. She went in and out of the kitchen area several times. After more than 10 minutes, she said the Curried Chicken Salad was not available, and I mentioned that would have been a good thing to know before sliding up and now the cases waiting for my order. Though not a happy camper, I chose the regular chicken salad, which was placed on the bread that had been resting in the toaster for over 10 minutes. The young lady placed my order on a tray, and I had to remind her that my order was to go. Altogether, this was a bit of a culinary train wreck - desired item that I specifically came for and was listed on the website as available on this day was in fact not available, unfocused and uninformed service, and then to find they started charging 3.25% on CC charges on Aug 1 - perfect! I am no fan of fast, casual dining, and I'm no fan of the ordering system here specifically. That is even more so after this experience - the food here is generally good but there's much here that diminishes the overall experience. I will not return to this "trusted and integral part of the community fabric of the Triad". Ambiance - 2 Food - 3.5 Service - 1 Value - 2

Yelp
The carving board, oh how I love thee. I ventured out today from my usual order (the Rueben) and got an Italian special with two types of hams and salami. I didn't venture from my usual side of noodles though because I couldn't get too crazy. I haven't found a fresher sandwich out there. My mom got the hot pastrami and loved it. This was her first time in and she was raving about it.

Jo M.

Yelp
This is a busy place! They have a lot of staff ready at the door when you walk in. My sandwich included a special on the board. Pictured is a pastrami sandwich with pepper jack cheese (melted), red pepper mayo, red onion, lettuce and tomato. This was my first time here and it will not be my last. It was clean inside and the staff were very attentive.

Chelsea H.

Yelp
Boujee Sammys with some great side options! The sun dried tomato and feta pasta salad I had was amazing. 1000% will re-order every time. I'd love to come back and do a salad plate to try more options. Lots of sandwich options that were very customizable. I'd say what you'd expect for a boar's head deli. Only issue was we did not like the chocolate chip cookie we ordered, it was very dry. This place gets busy but plenty seating inside.

Aleatha H.

Yelp
Delicious pastrami and great honey mustard cucumber salad! Service was fast, plenty of well- trained order takers that personally built our customized order. And each once worked to keep the cases cleaned of spills or drops!

Mike B.

Yelp
We came here a little after 10am on a Tuesday. They open at 10am Monday through Saturday. When you walk inside it is similar to a deli with meats, salads, etc in display cases in front of you. There was no one in front of us as they had just opened and we were able to ask a lot of questions. The women behind the counter were very sweet and informative. We learned they were established by two sisters and have been in operation for over 25 years. They have continued to operate as a family business with other family members joining in. My wife chose the three salad plate at the suggestion of one of the employees and she thought that was a great idea. It allows you to try multiple things and they provide generous portions. She chose the chicken salad, spinach and bacon salad and cucumber salad. I chose to make my own sandwich with ham, cheese and assorted veggies and a cup of the chicken noodle soup. I also tried a sample of their spicy noodles and quickly decided to buy a container to go. We had a seat and quickly started enjoying our meals. We both thought everything tasted fresh, homemade and delicious. We learned you can call ahead or place orders online. They also provide catering orders. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and we will absolutely be back. Excited to try even more items next time and my wife wants to purchase some of their orange dill vinaigrette to add to her salads. Also, a big shout out to the women who were so incredibly friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I've zoned in on this spot for lunch lately. When arriving there's usually a line, but it moves at a decent pace and it's totally worth the wait. I've been getting the 3 salad plate recently- with chicken salad and spicy noodles being my staples. Sadly they are always out of the rolls that are supposed to come with it. But it's truly the best spot for a quick and most delicious lunch.

Yelp
I love the Carving Board! I'm not from WS but I first went there the very first week here. Oh so long ago, 14yrs I love it then and I still love it. The food and people are great. I wish they delivered though.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Great choice of sandwiches, soups, salads, and pasta salad. It really lends itself quite naturally to a lunch spot. Delicious food and friendly staffers.

C M.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. They get slammed and the place looks a little disheveled- the cases are kind messy but man is the food good. It's right across from my gym...this could get addicting. The chicken salad is delicious.

Jake P.

Yelp
A new favorite of mine! I'm not sure how I've lived here so long and never visited. It's clearly a Winston legend. The turkey sandwich was awesome and I loved the noodles with a nice peanut butter flavor and a bit of spice. I'll be back here soon!

Bruno G.

Yelp
They serve fresh food and have a good diversity of influences: Greek, Mediterranean, American, etc. When we think fresh, tasty, simple and somewhat healthy that's where we go as a family. The service is efficient and friendly. The ambiance is between a cafe and a cafeteria. Parking is easy. The only negative I have is that they use all plastic and styrofoam plates and utensils. Probably saves space and costs in the kitchen but it's a shame for the environment.

Yelp
I cannot believe it took me all these years to try the Carving Board! I went on a Saturday around 11:30 am and the line was wrapped around down the hall! I was obviously overwhelmed with all the sandwich options so I chose a 3 salad plate. Just a tid bit - you may sample any item you like from the case! The spicy peanut noodles are HEAVEN. The regular chicken salad needed a touch of salt but otherwise SO good! I sampled the curry chicken salad and I was totally blown away! What an amazing twist on traditional chicken salad. Everything tasted so fresh. I recommend getting a to go container of your favorite salad to enjoy at home. I honestly can't wait to go back.

Yelp
The Carving Board has an underground cult following, and I'm here for it. I'm almost ashamed to admit that after living in the area for all of my 27 years, this was my first visit to The Carving Board. The line quickly snaked outside for Saturday lunch, and I can see why! My friend and I mentioned to the staff it was our first time and the people in front of and behind us began showering TCB with praise, giving us all their favorite recommendations! One customer even said "I'm so excited for you to try it, you're going to love it!" It was really endearing to see this Winston-Salem staple having locals who truly love it. That's what supporting local is all about! One of my most favorite things in life is a chicken salad croissant. I'm somewhat of a connoisseur and stay in hot pursuit of this deli classic, eternally searching for the best of the best. This one is SOLID. Nothing crazy - just the basics. Fluffy, golden brown croissant with creamy, crunchy, hearty chicken salad. Roasted chicken, crunchy celery and creamy mayo. Classic, delicious. And boy did they pack it on that croissant! I was immediately overwhelmed by all the side options (which you can get a PLATE of all sides/bound salads). I spied the spicy sesame noodle salad, but was also torn, eyeing the tortellini pasta salad. The customer behind me told me that they're known for the spicy noodles, so I decided to go with that! I ordered a small side and it was like an entire little bowl of them! Score. They were tangy and delicious! My friend got the Turkey and cheddar with cranberry spread and it was delicious too! I LOVE red skin potato salad and that was what he got so I had to sample - so good!! I will get this next time! Another customer in line (I told y'all - cult following!!!) told me that the cheesecake is made in house and is a must try. How can I say no to to that? A sizable slice with a lovely whipped sour cream topping - a showstopper! This is a wonderful little deli in Winston-Salem and a great place to get a sandwich. They're bringing something different to the sandwich scene. Check them out!

Yelp
Food is good and fresh! What I can't get over is the inefficiency in the order to pay out process. The person taking your order prepares your order with no help from others. They are dedicated to only you! They slice your meat, cut your bread , make your sandwich and put it on a plate. They the move to the "sides" area and have to remember your face to ask you what you'd like. All the meanwhile you're standing by the sides but don't remember who your personal sandwich maker is to look for when it's your turn to order the sides. Also people are going around you because their sandwich is easier or their sandwich maker is faster. You stand there a little confused as to why you aren't moving along as the line goes around you. After the sides, the sandwich maker crosses back over to the tea station to get your drinks. Then you continue to wait in line for your sandwich maker to move to the register to ring you up! Once they are done ringing you up, they mosey back to the order taking corner and start this ridiculous sequence again. I bet a single staff member can only handle about 6 orders per hour, as it did take 10-15 minutes for two sandwiches. How about having people at stations! Stop the traffic chaos as the staff move around each other with an unorthodox method of a single dedicated person per order. How about...an order taker , a slicer, a sides and drink person... finally a cashier that is cranking through closing people out not waiting for your order taker to cash you out. This is a sight to see if you sit back and watch. Food is good but the process unnecessarily takes too long and is painful to watch.

Kimber C.

Yelp
Sides are by the pound if you see prices on the online menu without an explanation of that. Holy deliciousness! Everything was wonderful. I loved the amount of meat on the pastrami sandwich. There were some sweet pickles on it, which I normally wouldn't care for, but the spiciness of the horseradish made it the perfect combo or sweet and spicy. The spinach apple bacon salad was delicious. I could easily do a larger side of that and a half sandwich. The pasta salad had the perfect amount of olives! No skimping there which was nice to see. My husband got the number 6, turkey on a roll. He really enjoyed that and said the honey mustard was "really good". He also got the bow tie pasta salad and really liked that too, stating "oh yeah!" When I asked if he liked it. I can see why this place usually has a line! I highly recommend checking this place out.

Tim W.

Yelp
In a time when every new homogenous strip center has at least one new restaurant with the ubiquitous style of Walnut and silver decor, or some specialty shop with mustards I can't pronounce selling sandwiches drenched in "make me go blech", it's really refreshing to find some place with real food. As soon as you walk in the door you see a huge refrigerator case full of pasta salads, fruit salads, all sorts of side items that look like one of those pot luck dinners people used to have! The veggies and fruit are all fresh. The sandwiches are solidly good. The prices are surprisingly affordable. There will be a line because they are well known in Winston, but they have a great system for getting people through and past the register. The Carving Board has been around forever and continues to stay busy. Why? Solidly good food, solidly good service, all for a solidly affordable price!

J T.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it tasted like someone had dumped a bunch of salt in it. Did the recipes change on the bow tie pasta and potato salad?

Katherine C.

Yelp
The Carving Board is one of my aunt's favorites (she is allergic to cooking). I needed more than an average sandwich, so I headed here. Everything looks amazing, but I finally settled on a chicken salad sandwich made just as I hoped for. The sandwich is generous! Huge! Half a sandwich is a full meal. Choose The Carving Board for upscale sides, beautiful salads, and amazing desserts.

Anthony C.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. I was in the mood for a chicken salad sandwich so I place an online order. Typically every time I come here there is a line, so my suggestion is to order ahead. My order was ready within 10 min of ordering. I had the pasta salad with a 1/2 chicken salad sandwich.

Emily G.

Yelp
Visited for the first time on 4/19 around noon. Place was super busy. You stand in line and order at the counter. The line moved a little slow, but eventually got to the front. I ordered a tuna fish sandwich on toasted white bread with lettuce and onions. Their tuna fish salad is absolutely delicious! Got a side of chips and a small side of Mac salad. The Mac salad was great as well. Great lunch for under $10. Super simple deli style food. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Heard some recommendations, and tried the carving board. Definitely busy on Saturday at lunch time, which is a good sign. Not sure if we picked the wrong items on the menu, but we found the sandwiches and salads to be about average. We ate the smoked turkey, bacon and cheddar 1/2 sandwich and the full roast beef sandwich. Tried the broccoli, macaroni, and egg salads and still nothing noteworthy. Flavors just fell short of our expectations, unfortunately.

Yelp
I've heard such good thing about this place over the years, but for some reason it took me 4+ years to try it out and now I regret that haha We stopped here after a hike and it was a great spot for lunch. They have a TON of salad options including chicken salad, tuna salad, pasta salad, Greek pasta salad, potato salads, and spicy sesame noodles which are all displayed when you walk in. We both got 1/2 sandwich with 1 side. I got the grilled chicken with avocado, Russian dressing, and lettuce on a roll with a side of the spinach bacon and apple salad. I do wish I asked for the dressing on the sandwich to be on the side because the bread soaked it all up. I also would have liked some kind of feta or blue cheese crumbles on the salad, but that's just my personal preference. My husband got the special which was a hoisin glazed chicken thigh sandwich and a side of the spicy sesame noodles. He enjoyed the sandwich and the spicy sesame noodles were delicious! I could honestly go there and just get those noodles and a piece of chicken and be perfectly satisfied haha. I love the variety of options between sandwiches, salads and even desserts. We didn't have room for dessert this time but definitely plan to try something next time! Great little spot for lunch, reminds me of the delis up in NY!

Yelp
Food selection is nice for a friday work lunch Had the half sandwich and soup specials Will return for some pasta salad and beets

Kathy G.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place! I have never, ever had bad food! Since my husband passed away, I frequently go in and purchase salad and entrees to last several days, it is so much more enjoyable and cost effective than my cooking for one! Everyone is wonderfully kind and helpful, with exception......Today was the last time I will politely stand and wait to be helped while a young person behind the counter talks, and socializing with young people in line BEHIND me! Sorry! It's rude and it is poor customer service and I cringe whenever I see this young woman behind the counter! This has happened on MORE than one occasion and I will not continue to pretend that it does not bother me! I love your food! I love your atmosphere!! I just cannot continue to be treated so rudely!

Tokyo C.

Yelp
Love this place and had to stop by to get my favorites! I have been enjoying their food for 23 years!!! I love their tuna fish salad, spicy noodles and curry chicken salad! "Slap my saddle" delicious folks!!!! Highly recommend! Great service Great location Thank you

Mohsen S.

Yelp
The #2 roast beef was fantastic. The beef slices were juicy and had just the right amount of horseradish sauce to give a kick without overpowering the sandwich. Would recommend

Amy U.

Yelp
I've dined at the Carving Board two times now and both experiences were great. It's a perfect spot for lunch if you are looking for soups, salads and sandwiches. Lots of simple and healthy options that are big on flavor. They have lots of different salads ranging from oriental noodles to spinach salad to chicken salad; they offer a two & three plate salad option which is a great way to sample a few of them, and trust me, you will want to. The salad plate will also come with a roll and (very cold) butter (that you can't spread on the roll). I chose the three salad plate with a nice serving each of the chicken salad, spinach salad with apples & bacon and bowtie pasta salad. I absolutely loved my choices and along with the roll (I made a mini sandwich with my chicken salad), I was full and happy. The chicken salad is great; I usually add a pinch of salt and pepper to chicken salad when I order it out (after tasting it of course) and this one needed just a little. Not that it wasn't good, it is absolutely delicious and has a great texture, I just like my chicken salad a little on the saltier side. It was so perfect to eat alongside the spinach salad with the apples and bacon which had a nice vinaigrette mixed in and both dishes complement each other. Bowtie pasta is very good; not outstanding but I would order it again because it was very simple and flavorful. I would absolutely come back to the Carving Board again for lunch. Hopefully very soon! I always order the salad plate so I have not sampled a sandwich or soup yet but when I do I will be sure to update. Thank you!

Yelp
This place popped up on the list of top lunch places near me in Winston, so I ventured out to try it. I called, twice actually, to ask about a kid's menu or kid friendly food, but no one answered the phone either time. I was a little irritated until I got there and saw the line to the door and realized why. Everyone was super busy helping customers! The restaurant itself isn't that big but there is a small area with tables and there are tables outside. There are 3 large display cases filled with all sorts of salads and food. I wanted to order two "3 salads" plates but it really wasn't clear what qualifies as salad. Chicken salad, yes. Steak salad, no. I ordered whatever I wanted anyway and they weighed them accordingly. But for others who haven't been there before either, it can be confusing. Here's what I ended up with for the family: Roast beef sandwich- yummy and big Spicy noodles- I could have stopped there. Excellent. Chicken salad- pretty good, but I'm picky about my chicken salad Bow tie pasta- decent. My husband said there was too much feta but I'm not sure what he's talking about. Can you ever have too much cheese? Spiral pasta- kid approved Grilled chicken- juicy and well seasoned Steak salad- really yummy. I'm not sure whether I was supposed to heat it up or eat it cold but I ate it cold and it was quite flavorful. Our total for all the above and two rolls was $33. A little pricey but honestly? It was worth it. It was plenty of food for all of us and I had chicken salad leftover for later. I wish we had a similar place in Greensboro! This is also conveniently located near Trader Joe's, so I can hit up both quickly when I make a trek to Winston.

Yelp
A quest for spicy sesame noodles (a constant among the ever-changing salad selections) led me to The Carving Board, but there are enough appealing options to merit a return here absent said craving. Versatility is definitely The Carving Board's strength. Sandwiches can be built to-order or selected from a pool of classic "suggestions" (Pilgrims, Reubens, etc.). They can also be halved and paired with soups or salads, leaving lots of potential combinations. That same versatility can make ordering a bit interesting. The Carving Board tends to get very busy around lunch time, and long lines both form easily and move quickly. It is advisable to either think about what you want before getting in line or to be prepared to make a prompt snap decision. For our first visit, my wife and I went with a veggie wrap (cucumber, avocado, carrot, lets, tomato, cheese, and herb mayo) and a half-Reuben/salad (spinach, apple, and bacon) combo, respectively. Our food was readied swiftly, and even during the busy lunch hour, there was plenty of seating. The wrap and the salad were both generously portioned, leaving the half-Reuben looking a bit flat in comparison. The salad tasted fresh and balanced sweet and salty well, and while the Reuben wasn't revelatory, it still satisfied. A to-go order of sesame noodles, enjoyed the next day, were a definite re-order. They were neither as thick nor as sauce-heavy as you'd find in a Chinese restaurant, but they were definitely superior to the oily variant sold at Harris-Teeter. The Carving Board's pricing is moderate. Many of the sandwiches are in the $7 to $8 range without sides, certainly no great value. However, the quality and variety of available salads makes the half sandwich and salad combo ($8) or the 3-salad plate ($10) a better deal. Ordering can be a bit frenzied, and the sandwiches aren't world-beaters, but the wide selection of salads makes The Carving Board well worth a lunch stop.

Yelp
I love this place. My grandmother came here every day for the last few years of her life and we'd join her once a week! The staff were always so kind to her and always went above and beyond for her. Just as importantly, though, the food here is delicious and I absolutely love the wide variety. The combination of rotating menu and daily menu makes sure everything stays exciting.

Yelp
Stopped at the place while out of town for a quick bite. The service was quick and friendly while the food was delicious. Had the original chicken salad as a sandwich. Lucky for me no onions as I don't like it in my chicken salad. I couldn't be happier with my choice!

Yelp
The food is greasy and delicious! I'm always excited to see what is on the special for today. I can always count on a delicious chicken salad sandwich when I really want a treat!

Yelp
The Carving Board was so wonderful yesterday. I had a bridal shower scheduled at noon at a local restaurant. They did not have power. At the last minute I had to change the shower to my home. The Carving Board saved the day with pasta salad, spinach salad, and potato salad. I really appreciate their help! How kind!

Yelp
My father & I stopped in today for lunch & found the place hopping! I ordered a toasted roast beef & provolone on wheat with turkey drive soup. The portion was a good size for lunch & they served my water on a glass with a lemon slice. My father also had the soup & a sandwich. He was especially pleased with his pickle. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I waited a long time to try this place and I wish I would have sooner! Any sandwich you want and you can probably get it! Plus and pasta salad you can dream of. I was overwhelmed when I walked in because it is fast paced and most people seemed to have what they wanted to order already in their heads. I decided on a "suggested" sandwich but tweaked it a little bit to my liking. There wasn't an extra charge either to do that. The sandwich was massive and I only could eat half but it was so good. I also got the greek salad because I was craving nearly everything in there. I think I should have done it by itself because it just didn't flow with my sandwich but was still tasty later on. Next time I am in, I will prep before I order so I don't miss a thing and get another wonderful sandwich!

Yelp
Worst customer service from "one" of the staff. I mentioned I was on lunch hour, and "she" took it upon herself that I meant that she was slow and said to me....you shouldn't come here and eat if you are on your lunch, its not a place for you! I then replied, I just mentioned I was here for lunch and she again, muttered under her voice all the sorts of things and threw my credit card at me and walked away. I asked for manager and 1 word response "sorry". At least I got that...

Yelp
There is nothing quite like The Carving Board in the Triad. It's a great place to pick up something delectable to heat up for dinner or you can choose to eat in. My favorites are the sandwiches and they fix everything with fresh ingredients like REAL roasted turkey breast. They also have pasta salads that are delicious. I love the bow tie pasta with the feta and sun-dried tomatoes. I have had dreams about this dish because it is just so good! The ambiance of the place has a casual yet elegant feel and the staff is always attentive. My wife and I love making the trip from Greensboro on Saturdays to eat here. It's a jewel of a restaurant.

Yelp
Great selection of fresh made sandwiches and salads. My faves are the roast beef sandwich and the bow tie pasta salad with feta. The roasted red skinned potato salad is yummy too. Homemade desserts include huge brownies and cookies.

Yelp
I was so disappointed today. Fewer options, and not nearly as nice as it used to be. Paper plates and plastic utensils. I'm not sure what happened in the past couple of months since I was there last, but it's very unfortunate.

Yelp
Lunch with family. Wow we each had a different sandwich and they were all great. Red skin potatoe salad was excellent.

Yelp
I've eaten at this Deli many times over the years as a visitor to W-S. Since moving here 2-1/2 years ago I've been a regular patron. Staff is always friendly & welcoming, all the food is fresh and delicious. My favorites are the wonderful Manhattan Clam Chowder (when available), Mexican Bow-Tie Pasta Salad, Spicy Noodles, Spinach Salad, Caesar Salad, Tuna & Chicken Salad. All of the sandwiches are prepared to order and are delicious and their dinner offerings are amazing. Homemade Cookies, Lemon Bars, Rice Pudding, Cheesecake are all delectable. Safe to say I have never had a bad meal at the Carving Board. There are many wonderful places to eat in Winston, but I consider Carving Board as one of my favorites. Have no idea why this is showing my location as San Francisco..LOL!

Yelp
The Carving Board offers excellent deli sandwiches, fresh salads, and soups for lunch. The food is so good there is always a line. The line moves pretty fast but it is a confusing process until you get the hang of it. Their sandwiches are very good, but what I really love are their salads. One of my favorite lunch items is the salad plate on which you select three salads for your plate. The salads are made fresh daily and do vary somewhat from day to day. I particularly enjoy the chicken salad and several of their pasta salads. The food is very good, but the lunch crowd can try your patience between the line and limited seating, especially if you're on a schedule. Allow a little extra time for lunch or take-out.

Yelp
Lunch on a weekday...kinda crazy. Wasn't sure how to order, couldn't see all the choices in the case as there were so many people lined up waiting to finish ordering or to pay. Tons of people ready to take your order and plate your food. I got the 3 salad plate = so yummy (oriental chicken salad, spinach salad and Caesar salad). My mom got asparagus quiche...I didn't try it, but she ate the whole thing so it must've been good =)

Yelp
It has been years since I was last here and I am struggling with why. This place offers a great selection healthy fresh food. Staff are very patient and friendly. I last had the 3 salad plate and it was incredible.
