"This charming inn makes a delightful pitstop, especially for those visiting the nearby motor racing circuit. The menu is just what you want to see in a place like this: a blackboard of daily specials and dishes that are punchy and full of flavour. In season, local game is always worth ordering and the desserts are consistently good too. The building dates back to the 12th century and boasts many original features; comfortable, immaculately appointed bedrooms complete the picture." - Michelin Inspector

The Castle Inn truly exceeded expectations. From the warm, inviting atmosphere to the quality of food and service, everything was spot on. The setting strikes just the right tone — comfortable, stylish, and relaxed — making it ideal for anything from a casual drink to a special meal.||The menu offers a great variety, with dishes that are thoughtfully prepared and full of flavour. Every plate felt carefully considered, and it’s clear that fresh, quality ingredients are a priority here.||Drinks were equally impressive, with a solid range of options including wines, beers, and well-made cocktails. Staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic, creating a welcoming and easygoing experience from start to finish.

We were really looking forward to dining here after reading the rave reviews and awards — but left completely disappointed. Despite booking days in advance, our table felt like an afterthought, and service was chaotic, with three different staff attending us during a very slow and disjointed three-hour dinner. We collected glasses and bottles but they were not cleared particularly throughout the evening. The food was far below expectations. The burger was the only dish that felt safe. The fish was barely edible, and the chicken Kiev arrived with the filling missing — as if it had been left behind in the kitchen. Every dish lacked finesse and flavour. We hoped dessert might redeem the evening, but the sticky toffee pudding was dry and dense, with a tiny amount of overheated sauce that couldn’t save it. A real shame — Castle Combe deserves better. This place has the accolades but not the delivery. Wouldn’t return. The 250gbp for four in a pub setting has taken us a lot further in both quality and enjoyment in our tour of the UK

Stayed for the dine and stay package: dinner, bed and breakfast. Even before arriving received incredibly friendly customer service as had to change booking a couple of times. We had a light lunch on arrival as room not ready until three . Had a walk around the beautiful village and church and just enjoyed the ambience of this stunning location. We had a pot of icecream from a lady’s front door opposite the pub and then enjoyed just sitting in the sun in the courtyard of the pub. The room was lovely and quirky with luxurious bedding and huge fluffy towels in the en-suite. Only minor niggle, no body lotion. Dinner was fab, we had the specials of scallops to start and whole Cornish sole for mains. Hubby had sticky toffee for desert but I was too full to partake! Breakfast next morning was served in the conservatory and we both had the full English. Very tasty but didnt like the streaky|bacon as very fatty. Service from all staff encountered was friendly and efficient, a lovely young team.

We came here as a group of 8, including 2 little ones, for a drink in the gorgeous courtyard in the sunshine. This turned in to a spontaneous dinner inside the pub. The staff could not have been more accommodating (Alfie and Dominic I believe) they were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The drinks menu is extensive and the high quality of food is noticeable. I had the most flavoursome shell on prawns from the specials board in a mouthwatering garlic and chilli butter served with crusty sourdough to mop up every last drop of the sauce. With both the quality of the produce and top notch service, the castle inn is definitely good value for money. I will 100% be returning and recommending to all my friends.

Grrat place for Sunday lunch (or on any other day of the week). Roast Dexter beef was medium-rare delicious and plenty of it. Veg a delight too. Try the sticky toffee pud. What a flavour burst of calorific pleasure! When the sun shines, Castle Coombe is unbeatable, and the castle Inn is just the place to be. Didn't try the rooms.

Booked for a family Sunday lunch and was not disappointed! |Wonderful food and exceptional hospitality shown by Merrity, Jade and Elouise - nothing was too much trouble, not rushed in any way and extremely polite. Something which is lacking in so many other establishments these days.

We went for a delicious meal for our wedding anniversary a couple of days ago. Very nice menu with lots of options. The sourdough, lamb belly, beef short rib and chicken Kiev were all delicious and presented very well. The desserts were also incredible. We had the Eton mess panna cotta and lemon meringue bomb. Good beer selection and wine list too. Would highly recommend and we are looking forward to coming again soon!

Cannot fault a thing. We were a walk-in table of 3 and the staff were courteous and even offered my dog a bowl of water straight away. The food was amazing, I had the fish and chips and the pea puree was the best I’ve ever had. We all loved it and will be back soon

Yelp
Excellent food and friendly service! We were so happy to see that there were so many delicious options to chose from including daily specials. The starters were excellent(tomato soup, croquettes, and bread) but the main courses (open beef sandwiches with creamy horseradish, fresh trout, and garlicky broccoli side) were so fresh and flavorful, I'd love to come back soon. They also serve a nice selection of local beers and the building itself is beautiful.

Yelp
Castle Inn is a quaint 12th century pub in the heart of Castle Combe village, located on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds. It has been lovingly restored to offer a classic Cotswolds pub and B&B to guests with open log fires, exposed beams and many original features. Located in the Castle Combe market place, the historic inn has seen the likes of Oliver Cromwell (English politician and military officer) pass through its doors. After touring through the Cotswolds, we stopped at the Inn for some lunch. We were one of the first guests to arrive that day and were seated promptly. Their restaurant serves a surprisingly creative British menu with many gluten free options and features an extensive wine list. I had yet to eat fish 'n chips on this trip and so I went with the Lager Battered Catch of the Day which came with a pea puree, dripping chips, and curry sauce. This was probably the most interesting fish 'n chips I've had to date. I've never had it come with 'dipping sauces' before. I normally just have it with a bunch of malt vinegar, but dipping it in that curry sauce was so incredibly delicious! Woah! The pea sauce was also interesting, but I found myself continuously going back to the curry. The dish was also perfectly fried with a crispy outside, moist inside, and it was not oily at all. This was honestly the best I had while in the UK and I still think about it months later! If I had malt vinegar it would have been even better. My other half had some local beer with the Breast of Creedy Duck w/ Leg Ragu, Braised Onion, and Asparagus and Turnip. This dish was lovely and nicely presented. My husband really enjoyed it. The lag ragu in braised onion was very flavorful and I would have eaten an entree size of that. Our little one had mac n' cheese. It was a bit pricey for a lunch, but given the location, limited options, history, and quality of products; it's understandable. The service was a bit slower than we would have liked (that may be my American expectations speaking), but overall, we had a lovely time and enjoyed our lunch in this magical little English village. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
The Castle inn has an amazing and friendly staff ready to help you with your every need! The front desk check in is at the bar which we found confusing at first but the hostess assured us it happens all the time! Went down for some shareable stuff for dinner and had some dessert as well, everything we got was great! Highly recommend the chipolatas!

Yelp
Staying in the Cotswolds was a dream. With no one in town it made it very easy to get pictures without tourist (myself included). The rooms are cute and recently remodeled. Only complaint is our shower room had no way to allow steam to escape. You could see mold forming in the skylight (that opens but no way to access). The beds slept wonderfully and staff was great. We ate at the restaurant upon arrival. Luckily they were able to accommodate us. Lots of choices. I got the wild boar lasagna and it was good. Others got the special of a steak and mushrooms and a burger. The burger was preferred over the special. The steak was over cooked. Enjoyed our stay and would return.

Yelp
A quick review as only stopped here to refuel on a hot sunny bank holiday Monday. The inn is a charming place to stop for a drink with friendly staff and a nice relaxing place to sit inside or out and take in the views of the lovely village

Yelp
What a lovely surprise! Castle Combe is the most beautiful, charming town I've ever seen. You feel like you've been sent back in time to a magical village. The Castle Inn is the perfect compliment to this town. The interior is modern, but the decor and finishings are true to the history of the town. it all fits together so perfectly. From the low ceilings and wood beams to the big stone fireplaces and quirky staircases, it's all just perfection. As we visited on a Sunday, we had to partake in the Sunday roast. We started with the breads for sharing, which included 4 dipping sauces. Then we had the soup of the day, Tomato and Red Pepper. Then the roast. The roast included a big portion of steamed vegetables, roasted potatoes, roasted parsnips a puff pastry and 2 large carvings of beef. And of course gravy! Everything was perfection. Zero complaints. Service was great. Prices were great (1, 2, 3 course pricing structure). As the town is so little, it's great that one of their 3 (maybe 4) options is so perfect. Go to Castle Combe, and go to the Castle Inn!

Yelp
We walked in about 7:30 pm hoping to have dinner. We stood by the door for about 5 minutes as employees walked past us and didn't say hello or even acknowledge our existence. We finally got the attention of the bartender and were told if we didn't have a reservation they were completely booked. It's too bad because they didn't know before they decided to ignore us if we had a reservation or not. If we did have a reservation we would have walked out. Skip this place and go elsewhere.

Yelp
This inn is joined to the Castle Inn hotel. The bar part is very comfortable. It is set in a very picturesque village.

Yelp
Came here the second time. It's a very nice pub/restaurant. It's a bit touristy, but the village is small and have only 2 restaurants, and it's a very popular destination. But if you avoid lunch and dinner time. You will have a nice quite time drinking afternoon tea and read a newspaper. Very relaxing.

Yelp
A lovely cosy hotel set in the picturesque, olde worlde village of Castle Combe. The food here is perhaps a little pricey but excellently cooked & presented. The service was also second to nonefrom reception to the bar, the staff were very polite, attentive & friendly, a refreshing change! We were made to feel like nothing would be too much trouble.
