I really enjoy coming to the village in Walthamstow for visits. There's a feeling here that one isn't "in it alone" in this life as passersby often smile and/or say hello as they move along down the pavement. And, by this, I don't mean just the crazies who've sadly infiltrated this corner of the capital, but actual "normal people". I'm also a fan of "Tetley" the 12 yr. old cat who acts like he's the Emperor of the 'stow, and can be found, very often, on the grounds of the Vestry House Museum soaking up the sun, if there's any to be had.
Wow, I've really digressed. Let's move on to a pub called The Castle which is just around the way from the village's main drag. On Monday nights, as luck would have it, they've a pub quiz that's really quite fun, if, however, pretty challenging at times. Our group came in 3rd out of 9 teams, so no prize money or bottle of wine was to be had. It was a hoot to participate though. The food, usual pub grub with a slightly upper-level look and taste, was tasty, but a bit costly. The interior is clean, funky, and replete with both proper tables and comfy sofas alike.
