On the Grid : Harvey Milk's Camera Shop / HRC

"A colorful array of San Francisco and California branded clothing benefiting the Human Rights Campaign envelopes the space that once housed Harvey Milk's camera store. The store is also a landmark for the LGBTQ movement. Outside, above the store, you'll spot Harvey Milk himself, upstairs in the window of his old home." - pixelstud

Small memorial to Harvey Milk on Castro street. This location, 575 Castro St., was the location of the Camera Shop owned by Harvey Milk and his partner Scott Smith (opened in 1973). Directly above was his apartment, from which he announced his historic run for public office in 1974. Harvey is represented with a small mural, as well as an informational sign on the door. I would have loved more info or a little museum. Definitely a historic site worth visiting.

Now an art gallery and oddities and curios shop, this place has a very nice vibe. Nudes on the walls and in person - come as you are. The salesperson is very nice and mellow. I wish they served drinks or threw parties. More chill than most Castro places. Highly Recommended.

There was a sign that said it was closed but it was not clear if it was closed. Incredible to see the landmark from the outside anyway.
