Cats and coffee? Don't mind if I do. Why did I wait so long to visit this place? The hours, yes, we all know I do not do mornings well. But last week I made the time and I'm glad I did. Playing with precious cats who need a forever home while I sip a latte? TAKE MY MONEY.
Important Notes: do not bring your small kiddos here as they aren't allowed in under age 6. Learn to read websites (and their multiple signs) and avoid upsetting your own children. Reservations are recommended to avoid turning you away if you just show up and they're busy, but walk-ins are accepted if the space allows. I lucked out and the cat room was empty when I showed up. With less than 24 hours notice cancellation of your reservation- there is no refund. Instead, just reschedule and you can still enjoy the cats and not lose out on your money! 20 bucks gets you a drink (or snack item) and an hour in the cat room. No flash photography, don't be too loud, and don't pick up the cats. Easy peasy! I like that they care about keeping the cats happy and comfortable.
I can wave a feather toy on a stick around while 5 cats leap, pounce, and attack it? The best! There were other cats napping, so I left them alone. I am a catless cat lady who hasn't gotten to pet a cat in ages so this was a delightful day. Oh they were so soft. These must be healthy and happy cats to groom themselves so well. They have a lot of toys and things to climb on, doesn't come off like a sad little kitty jail with cat trees if that's what you're imagining. There are sun puddles from multiple windows, tall cat trees for them to explore and chase each other around on, lots of comfy nooks for them to sleep, and a back room for them to go hide from visitors if they're over it or just take a box break before coming back out for more fun. And there are tables and chairs for people so you can sit and drink your coffee just watching the cats if you don't want to just sit on the floor.
The brown Bengal, Leo, was napping and lounging in a sun puddle for most of the time. He's even more striking in the sunlight so that was fine. I took way too many photos of these cats because I loved them so much. The staff provide a book with the cats' stories for you to flip through you can learn about the cats that are adoptable. Spending some time there and seeing how they are is a great idea pre-adoption. But if you're like me and you can't adopt a cat, you can support them by paying to get in the cat room and telling your friends about your magical time. MAGICAL. Or better yet, bring your friends with you next time. That's my plan. Cats and coffee? A great way to de-stress and do a good deed by supporting this charming little place trying to find kitties good homes. Allergic or just don't like playing with or watching cats? You can still enjoy the cat café! You can go grab some coffee and pastries to eat outside on their sidewalk patio. No cat hair, but still a rescued alley cat ally!
The cafe's menu, their Purrfect Menu, is cute! Warm Kitty drinks, Cold Kitty drinks, Blended (why that one doesn't have kitty too...oh), and Kitty Specials for some pre-picked flavor blends. I went with the Tortie (mocha, hazelnut, caramel) and it was nice. But they have plenty of syrups to make your own concoction. A couple of the cats have even been adopted in the short time since my visit! This means there are new cats hanging out in the cat room just waiting for me to go meet them. There's also a livestream via their Facebook page of the cats night time adventures if you're curious. Are you a yoga person? Their website says every 3rd Sunday they host a cat yoga session. Sign up and stretch with the kitties!
