"The Cellar at Duckworth’s, a very low-key romantic establishment on the underground floor of the Uptown Duckworth’s, is booked and busy. Walking down the staircase and through the deep wood door (all while old-timey jazz plays aloud), customers will see how there’s really no need for frilly design or hyper-experimental specials here — the candles at each table and classic gastropub menu speak for themselves. It’s the simplicity that creates both the nostalgia and the across-Charlotte appeal. Diners likely won’t be disappointed by the portions and will feel full just from the caramelized Brussels sprouts or the truffle mac n’ cheese. It’s all very sexy and moody (minus the craft cocktail menu with all 40+ options being on an iPad)." - Kayleigh Ruller

"The Cellar at Duckworth’s feels like a Prohibition-era speakeasy in the middle of modern-day uptown Charlotte. And while the cocktails are top-notch, the walk-in beer cellar, which houses roughly 400 different bottles is an experience. Get one of the bartenders to take you on a cellar tour or rent a locker to hold your favorite brew. There's no need to limit yourself to drinks here: The steaks, expertly prepared in an 1,800-degree broiler, are a carnivore's dream." - Lauren Levine

"Go back in time (and get a reservation) at this Prohibition-era speakeasy housed in a 106-year-old building near 7th Street. Dig into the gastropub fare (try the truffle mac and cheese and the preserved lemon risotto) and take a peek at the beer cellar stocked with 500 hard-to-find labels. Don’t overlook the signature cocktail list." - Katie Toussaint

What a gem! We came here while in town for a conference and so many people had told us to come here that we had to give it a try! The ambience is just what you would want out of a speakeasy! It’s downstairs in a true cellar, has a comforting smoky smell, and is dark, like a well kept secret! We sat at the bar since we didn’t have a reservation and loved this experience. Spencer was our bartender and was so helpful! He made great recommendations! I enjoyed a mocktail Mojito that he suggested and it was delicious and refreshing! I ordered the burger and it was so flavorful and juicy! The fries were well seasoned and hot too! My friend got the short ribs and was so pleased with her choice! We both had clean plates when we were done! Highly recommend if you’re in or around Charlotte!

Located in the lower level floor of Duckworth building, the Cellar is a stellar dinning spot in the area. It’s very popular, reservations highly recommended. We got there an hour before our reservation, but luckily got open spot at the bar. Got to witness some magnificent bartending skills as they prepared a variety of drinks for the guests. I tried the berry lemon drop and cucumber highball, both were such good drinks. Food wise we ordered plenty of dishes. Grilled oyster was fantastic including the side of bread. Scallops were so soft and moist. Duck confit was cooked perfectly. And finally I had the 14oz Prime NY strip, a huge piece of steak perfect seasoning. The service was great. Staff were super friendly. Even though they were packed, our dishes were served within a decent time. This is really one of the top spots to dine in Charlotte.

Food: Some items were perfect like duck in The Duck Confit; but the Risotto side was extremely salty borderline impossible to eat. Service: Phenomenal! Atmosphere: Very nice place but a little loud at times.

One of the best meals that I have had in so long at a restaurant. Love the staff they are amazing. I am so glad that I decided to spend my last night with my brother of my birthday weekend here. I highly recommend this place.

Google
This place is popular for a reason. The food is delicious, and the drinks are even better — some of the best I’ve had so far. They have a wide selection to choose from. The underground speakeasy vibe is hard to come by in NC. I’ll be back anytime I’m in Charlotte.

Google
We had a wonderful time dining out. Many of the dishes were delicious. I absolutley loved the oysters. Service was nice and everyone was attentive. We came on a Thuraday evening after a show at Blumenthal. The duck confit was a little too salty for my taste. And the waffle cones with shrimp, chicken, and tuna were okay. I like the idea but it the cones were very very hard. Not my favorite. I did however, really enjoy the Risotto and the dumplings.

I arrived early for my reservation and grabbed a cocktail at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and the My Bitter Ex was a good old fashioned. They have a wide cocktail menu to choose from. Later we had the charcuterie board appetizer which was quite nice followed by the New York Strip with Brussel Sprouts, fries and mac and cheese. The steak was near perfect and the brussels were excellent. The fries were nothing special. Note, the on street parking is limited to two hours with no extensions and in enforced all day; use the parking deck nearby if you think you will be there longer.

Google
Speakeasy vibe very cool although the music is loud. If you wear hearing aids you will have to adjust them. Service was very good even with a full house. Steaks are delicious and prepared as odered. But beware steaks are salted and peppered. A little too much salt for me. I imagine you can request no salt or pepper. The checuterie board was amazing. Get the boar. Sides were great mac n cheese and truffle fries. The scallops we added with our steaks were done perfectly. We loved all of the mixed drinks. Three bartenders working so you know they sell a lot of them. I had the cellar mi tia. Yummy. We shared the berry dessert. Wonderfully light and not too sweet. Pricey but worth a try. We will be back.

Yelp
Hey guys. The Cellar was a cute last minute date spot. It's super dark in there and intimate we loved our experience. The steak was cooked perfectly, the shrimp and grits was different but still delicious. The drinks were good. I love the way they prepped their oysters. The service was great and the waiters were very handsome. It's like it was required when they got hired . I def would go back for the food of course. Yelp
Amazing food. Even better drinks. Service was excellent. They're friendly, kind and patient with you. The Brussel sprouts flatbread was so flavorful. We also got the cheese board which was great Their mezcal cocktails are so good. The ambiance is unique. A little bit speakeasy and a little romantic. Great for date night.

Yelp
We had 6:15 reservations on a Thursday night. We were seated promptly at a table that shouldn't exist. It was a 2 person high top on the end of a row. There was a plastic frosted divider between our seats and the next table but it was of little benefit. Unfortunately, the table next to use was a party of 10-12 people, looked like a company happy hour, who were very much enjoying themselves and walking around the area. I know Charlotte is a corporate spot filled with company HH but I feel like our seating really affected the quality of the meal and not sitting 2 people directly next to a 12 person crowd is a layup. Needless to say, it was incredibly loud. It was also very dark. Our waitress asked for ID and she could read it because it's so dark. Drinks were outstanding. Tried the cellar margarita, smoked pecan, the East village and the sarezac. Food was pretty average especially considering the high price points Charlotte charges now. We split short rib dumplings and they were tasty. Entrees were grouper and scallops. Both were lacking any interest. Dessert was good. We split the berry fried dumplings. They were interesting and good. Something you don't see on every menu. No complaints about our server. She was knowledgeable, pleasant and friendly. I can't say much about the decor because it was very dark and if we looked around all we saw was happy hour people. Tried it but wouldn't recommend or return.

Yelp
For starters make sure when you walk in the door you keep going straight and walk down the stairs, otherwise you'll be upstairs at the ducksworth sports bar. And arguably the most important note: reservations are required unless you want to roll the dice for bar seating which is first come, first served. This is a speak easy vibe/aesthetic so expect to pay on the higher end for everything. The pick 4 charcuterie board was $22, but it was my first time trying wild boar, do you win some, you pay some. For my entree I went with the veal, the pasta was undeniably delicious, while the veal could have used some additional TLC, IMHO it was under seasoned. The 2 bartenders that took care of us were Micheal (our main point of contact) & (I believe) Jess who was both delightful and funny. This was part of a business trip for me sso I needed to split the bill for specific charges and they were more than accommodating. Side note: although they offer a fully stocked bar, they will whip up NA mock tails upon request for those who no longer partake in libations.

Yelp
Eric and Ifrah are wonderful. Friendly and knowledgeable when being of service. I loved the food and atmosphere. Price is spot on for fine dining. Excellent find in Charlotte. If visiting again I'll be back.

Yelp
We dined at the Cellar at Duckworth's tonight, and although it's been a while since my last visit, the exceptional food and service remain unchanged. Our meal included steak, candied bacon, Brussels sprouts, clams, and a salad, all enhanced with some delightful cocktails--a combination that's hard to top.

Yelp
If I could give The Cellar bonus stars, I would. My husband and I stayed at The Ivey's as a staycation anniversary treat and were in the market for a great dinner experience. I did my research and really wanted to celebrate here. I called and learned it was reservations only, and they didn't have any available. We had planned to dine when they opened at 4pm and were advised they likely could squeeze us into the bar area, as it tends to be quieter at opening. The person over the phone was so helpful and I figured we'd try. Lucky for us, they had a cancelation when we arrived and were offered a table. Julie was our PHENOMENAL server. She was so kind, so knowledgeable of the venue and menu, and KNOWS HER DRINKS. She was able to recommend cocktails based on my taste and was so very spot on. I was so impressed how she was able to describe the drinks. The cocktails were phenomenal, crafted with in-house made ingredients. You could really tell and it made all of the difference. We ordered some small plates - short Rib dumplings, grilled oysters, and truffle fries. Every single item blew us away. SO GOOD! Julie mentioned the amazing steaks and we decided to go far a Filet Mignon. I very rarely order steak because I have had a few experiences where it's not done right. I can say - Julie you were right! The Cellar does steak right! It was cooked to medium - as requested - and to absolute perfection. The seasoning was just right. The flavor was everything. Dessert was a Nutella cheesecake and it really hit the spot. Every element of dinner was truly spectacular. This was the perfect way to spend 12 years together. It was so special. Thank you!!!! One of my new most favorite spots ever. This is an all around experience I highly recommend you try at least once.

Yelp
The restaurant is located downstairs and is a speak easy vibe. Two down sides: 1. It's in the city so parking can be tricky and 2. it's so dimly lit that many folks use their phone flashlight to read the menu. We've been here a couple times and their food ranges from 3-4 stars. The service is always 5 stars. Cocktails are 4-5 stars. If you're looking for the best Tomahawk in town, this would not be the place. But it's still solid. I would recommend not getting the Waffle cone appetizer if you're with other people. It's essentially 3 waffle cones filled with 3 different items. It is incredibly hard to share. Brussel sprouts and burrata salad are solid choices. I personally felt like the tuna tartare was not very fresh. This is a place we go when someone else is paying but it's not good enough for me to make my own reservation.

Yelp
We love the atmosphere of this place!! A Speakeasy located under Duckworth's (walk into Duckworth's & use the stairs to walk into "The Cellar". Jjazz music playing & the bartenders & servers in the Roaring '20's jazz club outfits really make the atmosphere pop!! I will say reservations are a must due to the small space of this restaurant. We waited too long to make reservations & sat at the bar, which we were fine with because we love the bartenders making all the fancy drinks! I had the BURRATA CHEESE SALAD & Truffle Mac & Chez (both sans meat, as I'm a vegetarian). Hubby had the Grouper. Enjoyed the meal & hubby did too. We ordered a bottle of Orin Swift's "Machete", which is a red blend to complete our meal. Yum!! Best Red Blend ever! (IMO). Our bartenders were Mike & Mark. We loved Mike as we spent most over our time talking with Mike. Mark was very knowledgeable in regards to wine and our questions on which bottle was best for us. :) My only ask would be more vegetarian options, we've been coming here for 3-4 years & the menu appears to have been unchanged.

Yelp
Was in town for a wedding. Our first meal after landing in Charlotte. One of the best meals we had during our visit. The ambiance is intimate, cozy with dim lighting. We ordered: Caramelized Brussels without pancetta The Tomahawk Charred corn and leek Risotto with Scallops The beer menu is extensive and a bit overwhelming. After receiving recommendations from our server Jenna we ordered a Tropical Sour Weisse. Excellent recommendation! Loved hearing about the history of the building. The food was delicious! Portions are on the smaller side, not including the Tomahawk. Our waitress Jenna was friendly and attentive. She went above and beyond! When I mentioned it was my Mother in Laws birthday she surprised her with a small cake. For beer enthusiasts the beer cellar is a must! Rare, local and interesting beer options. After touring we purchased a few beers to take home.

Yelp
The moment you step into The Cellar at Duckworth's, you're transported to the roaring 20s--an era of speakeasies. The dimly lit space, with its original brick walls and exposed ceiling joists, exudes an irresistible charm. Even the attentive staff dons attire reminiscent of that bygone era. The cocktail menu is a work of art. Each libation is crafted with precision and creativity. I recommend the French Mule, a delightful concoction that dances on your palate. The Cellar boasts an extensive beer selection, with 110 beers on tap--all served at their recommended temperatures. Whether you're a beer aficionado or a cocktail enthusiast, you'll find something to delight your taste buds. Now that we've covered the ambiance and the libations, let's dive into the feast! My choice of a ribeye steak paired with scallops was a symphony of flavors. Here's what stood out: The Ribeye was cooked to perfection, beautifulil seared, juicy interior, and a flavor profile that sings of smoky richness. The marbling is divine, and each bite is a celebration of carnivorous delight. The Scallops were tender, buttery, and seared to a golden hue, the scallops complement the ribeye beautifully. Their delicate sweetness balances the robustness of the steak. Now for the Mac and Cheese. Velvety cheese sauce coats al dente pasta, creating a harmonious blend of textures. It's the kind of mac and cheese that warms your soul. Bourbon--the elixir of life. The Cellar's bourbon selection is impressive. Whether you prefer it neat, on the rocks, or in a classic Old Fashioned, they've got you covered. Sip slowly, savoring the warmth that spreads from your chest to your fingertips. The waitstaff at The Cellar is a treasure trove of knowledge. They guide you through the menu, offering recommendations that elevate your dining experience. Attentive without being intrusive, they ensure your evening is nothing short of exceptional. The Cellar at Duckworth's is more than a restaurant; it's a time capsule. Come for the food, stay for the ambiance, and leave with memories that linger like the notes of a fine bourbon. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in life's pleasures, The Cellar awaits with open arms.

Yelp
Perfect date night out. We loved the brief history our sever gave us about the cellar, for instance that it originated in 1912 and was likely a speak easy way back when. My husband and I shared multiple plates: the Brussels sprouts and candied jalapeño flatbread, short rib dumplings, risotto, and the short rib large plate. Each dish that came out was filled with the flavor. I loved the flatbread as I had never had one which had crispy Brussels sprouts on top.. yum! I also really enjoyed the short rib because it was so tender that I didn't even need a knife to cut it. The Au Jus was also fabulous. The dim lights, no windows, and leather seats add to the perfect setting. Service was wonderful, knowledgeable, and attentive. I was not drinking tonight but will certainly come back to try one of the 40 craft cocktails that are offered.

Jen B.

Yelp
Great food, great service, massive bar menu. Love the late night full kitchen menu. Jordan took excellent care of us when we came in for a 945pm reservation. Enjoyed tuna tartare, burrata salad, and the filet mignon, but the grouper was too salty for my taste. Jordan provided spot on cocktail recommendations based on our preferences and we ended up having an additional cocktail for dessert instead of trying their sweet menu items. Nice date night and good for a special celebration.

Yelp
A charming speakeasy underneath a typical sports bar, the Cellar gets it right with it's name-like dimly lit ambiance with underground exposed brick walls, barrels and decked up wine bottles. With a drink menu boasting 40+ unique cocktails, large selection of wines/beers, lip smacking eats and friendly service, this is a fantastic bar and a must visit in Charlotte. I am from New York and this place instantly takes you back to that vintage city vibe. Tried their East village cocktail & it was solid. Great date spot btw!

Vivian T.

Yelp
First time diner here! Came to celebrate a birthday and every dish was solid. It was a fun surprise finding this under a bar restaurant! Two completely different vibes. Our server was so professional and explained everything concisely. Even the way she pour our water without touching the rims of our glasses was something small but acknowledged/appreciated. Looking forward to dining here again!

Lola L.

Yelp
Never been but looks great! Might stop by someday soon to give it a try, thanks! People I know come here to eat a lot so I can hardly wait to come try the delicious looking food and enjoy the atmosphere.

Michael S.

Yelp
The Cellar at Duckworth's is a hidden gem in Charlotte. With its speakeasy ambiance, original brick walls, and attentive staff, it's like stepping back in time. The gastropub fare, rare beers, and handcrafted cocktails make it a must-visit for food and drink enthusiasts.

Debbie B.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE the Cellar at Duckworth's! It's such a fun adventure to walk down the steps into the cellar and view the vintage wooden rafters, nostalgic speak easy atmosphere, and fun date night location. I am not usually a fan of oyster but the preparation and flavor are unique and mouth watering... my date and I used to share the appetizer and now order one each because it's just so delicious to share. All of the items on the menu & nightly specials are fantastic and Julie even helped us make a wonderful drink on my birthday because I was craving something specific and she came up with a drink, we now call "happy happy joy juice" which we ask for every time we, dine at the cellar. I highly recommend their the whole package, atmosphere, dining, drinks, dessert..

Diana S.

Yelp
I received fantastic reviews of the cellar so maybe I had too high expectations. Upon arriving, the first noticeable problem is the lighting. I understand they are going for a speakeasy ambiance but you can barely see anything. If you sit facing the kitchen, you are blinded by the light every time the door swings. On the other hand, the cocktails are amazing. I had the espresso Manhattan and it was wonderfully balanced. Service was average. Food was average. I tried the waffle cone appetizer and I wasn't expecting the actual waffle to be so sweet, especially the coconut shrimp combination. The poke was the best of the three. The honey chicken had a nice flavor but the chicken was cold and dry. The shrimp had way too much citrus and was overwhelming to me. Next, my steak came out and was over cooked. The server kindly took it back to the kitchen and my second steak was delicious. Overall, the whole experience was just mediocre.

David H.

Yelp
Late dinner here during over night trip to Charlotte. Loved the ambiance. Great service. Food good but not really memorable.

Rebekah W.

Yelp
Tried something new with friends on a Tuesday night. The cellar is downstairs in the Duckworth. It's a narrow space, but they navigate it very well. Servers are attentive and courteous. We started with the chargrilled oysters. I'm not an oyster connoisseur, but I tried them on the advice of the table. The oyster is separated for you, making it easy to scoop the oyster with all of the garlic and Parmesan onto the bread it's served with-a perfect little bite of salty, garlicky goodness. For dinner my husband got the market fish, which was salmon atop a risotto, with scallops, and green beans. It was a nice sized piece of salmon. He substituted the charred corn & buttered leek risotto for the one that came with the dish because the original has pancetta. If you know me, you know I'm going for the ribeye, which is boneless. I ordered it medium well, Pittsburg style. It was cooked at medium temp, and not as tender as I expected. I also got the charred corn & buttered leek risotto. I felt it was cooked on the wrong side of Al dente, there were some crunchy pieces, though the flavor was good, but it could've used some cracked black pepper. Our guests got the truffle fries-delicious, and the caramelized Brussels-also delicious. Our guests also had the tomahawk steak, which they enjoyed, and they added scallops, which were good. Overall, I liked the ambiance of the cellar, the smell of the wood used to smoke the old fashions added to the warmth. Food wise, I felt it could've been better, starting with the overall temperature of the food coming to the table, all the way to the undercooked risotto. Flavors were good throughout. I would like to go again and try the short rib gyoza. I would even give the risotto another try, and maybe a different steak cut.

Joshua T.

Yelp
Had reservations here on my birthday and had a wonderful time! (Highly advise you make a reservation and not try to walk-in) Atmosphere and vibe are relaxing, drinks were superb, food was delicious! Service was also fantastic! I highly recommend the Candied Brussel Sprouts, they were perfectly cooked! Also the "East Village" which is a signature cocktail on the menu and their version of a Manhattan is VERY good! We will be back!

Dawn H.

Yelp
My husband and I were in Charlotte for a concert and wanted to have a nice dinner. The Cellar did not disappoint! The prohibition vibes of the restaurant was so chill and elevated at the same time. We had the short rib dumplings, my husband had the filet and I had the fish of the day - halibut with sea scallops. We had a couple of craft old fashioneds and the berry dumplings for dessert. Every single item was 10/10. Our server, Jenna, was full of knowledge and fun information too! Don't sleep on this place!

Cristy S.

Yelp
Great food! A very different fare than Duckworth's upstairs. Smaller area so make reservations

Ellie M.

Yelp
My fiancé and I went to The Cellar at Duckworth for his birthday. We really enjoyed our time there. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. He explained to us the history of the restaurant being a speakeasy and jazz club which is awesome. The ambience of the restaurant really is cool. The drink list was very long and it was so hard to choose. I got the spritz which was a nice twist with blood orange. For starters, we got the short rib dumplings and the truffle Mac and cheese (the main reasons I wanted to try The Cellar). I think the dumplings were the best thing I have ever eaten. The ribs were so tender and the dipping sauce paired so well. The truffle Mac was wonderful too. For entrees, we got the short rib and the veal piccata. Both were delicious but the short rib here cannot be rivaled! I can't wait to return to The Cellar at Duckworth!

Michelle F.

Yelp
Random city food adventure! My boyfriend and I wanted to find some comfort food and I saw this menu so we walked across down and were able to slip in as a walk in around 7pm in what is a very busy restaurant for a Wednesday! The cellar is small, romantic & moody but it was so special for us to be able to just slide in and have a sneaky meal. I enjoyed the blood and sand cocktail and it was a good compliment to an already super flavorful meal. The service was really friendly and helpful. The thing that surprised and delighted me the most is even the small vegetables in the dish were cooked to perfection and added their own elements of freshness. If I had any critique, for such a lovely atmosphere, the bathrooms are super weird. Just odd choices for their design/functionality. Also, the seating is tight in the actual restaurant so you will not have a lot of privacy.

Monét B.

Yelp
Great experience! It's connected to duckworth, you just go downstairs. Small area but intimate & romantic. Wish there was more appetizing food options. The caprese was unique but a little too salty with the pecans plus added salt on the burrata.the cellar burger with fries was good & the dumplings were delicious. The server from a place near Ethiopia was amazing & so beautiful! Will love to be back!

Vivian C.

Yelp
FANCY FANCY. My fiancé was amazed at the size of the alcohol menu and I thought our waitress was a professor in disguise because she knew SO much it was fascinating! The atmosphere was super cool too. You can really feel the historical vibes in the air. We started with the cheese board which was mega tasty! I regret not getting the tuna tartar tho! The waitress highly recommended it. Next time I will order it without hesitation. My entree was the blackened grouper which wasn't bad but at random bites I felt like the entire bite was overly salty than the others. I feel like I could have made a better choice. Maybe their steak since they are more well known for them. My fiancé liked his entree tho. For dessert we got the tres leches cake. I'm always a sucker for them! My fiancé said the cake was just ok but I liked it a lot!

Heather V.

Yelp
Overall I liked my experience in the cellar. I love a dim lit, low music, old school feel cocktail bar. The vibe of this place is great. With that being said, there's FORTY craft cocktails listed to chose from, yes 40. I tried to ask the server for a rec and he was absolutely no help. I didn't want a "popular" Negroni or Manhattan, I don't like strong drinks. The food was incredible but slightly overpriced and the menu is small if you don't want meat/cheese or an expensive steak. Our server was superb with his knowledge and expertise of the liquor and flavors. But unfortunately he fell short when he realized that my friend and I werent going to be spending hundreds of dollars at dinner. Once we got our drinks and food, he never checked back until it was time to bring the bill. Didn't ask how I liked my drink and didn't check back on the food. So even though the atmosphere is really great, I would not recommend this location for dinner, maybe a drink and that's it.

Gabriella R.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. I love the speakeasy vibe and the dim lighting. The cocktails are incredible and the food is stellar. I always come for my birthday because I know I'm going to have a great experience with incredible food.

Ryan L.

Yelp
First time cellar visit was great. Has the speak easy vibe with a great selection of drinks and good service. We split three smaller plates: the PORK STEAM BUNS, BRUSSELS SPROUTS & CANDIED JALAPENO BACON FLATBREAD, and BURRATA CHEESE SALAD. All were great and enough to fill us up. Had the EAST VILLAGE for a cocktail and it was smooth. Would come back and try a main plate

Genevieve V.

Yelp
Really great food, awesome atmosphere. Doesn't look like much when you first walk in, but a foodie's dream. We shared a number of small plates - grilled oysters, burrata salad, candied bacon, truffle mac n cheese, brussels sprouts and the charcuterie board. All were delicious and I have zero complaints about the food. I bring this down to a 4 because the service was very slow. It took 15-20 minutes to get my glass of wine and over 30 minutes to get our bill. Regardless, it was a great night and I left stuffed and happy!

Sheila H.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants. Food, service, ambiance excellent. Never disappoints!

Kent R.

Yelp
Kind+wonderful server, willing to take back a bad drink. The sides were great; steaks pretty good. Scallops so over-salted they were difficult to eat. Beer cellar and history of the place is interesting, but for these prices I expect near-perfect food.

Alexis A.

Yelp
Our server was fantastic, he was attentive and helpful when ordering. Our food was fresh, tasteful, and filling. The location is like an old speakeasy and its soft lighting made it cute. We loved it. Great date night place.

Elia V.

Yelp
Starting off with the good: our server was kind and attentive. The cocktails were delightful. The smoked old fashioned was a refreshing take on a classic cocktail. The "Where's the Smoke" peach cocktail was the perfect balance of smoke, sweetness and spicy! A unique cocktail that I could see myself grabbing time and time again. For small plates - the char-grilled oysters were incredibly flavorful due to the creole butter. The middle of the road: Our second small plate - short rib gyoza dumplings with ponzu sauce were nothing to write home about. Just okay but appreciated the slight spiciness of the ponzu sauce. The BAD: The steak special of the night, the dry aged NY strip steak was unacceptable. It was paired with scallops and a side salad. The exterior was truly deceiving. Both steaks were ordered medium rare, but both were served rare. The staff requested a chance to make things right by taking the steaks back to cook further - we gave them a second chance. The second time the steaks were brought out - parts were medium rare but others still remained rare. Truly disappointed by our experience and could not be persuaded to pay to dine there again.

Yelp
The food and service was very good. There wasn't anything that I disliked about this experience. The creole butter used for the chargrilled oysters was excellent. The house made waffle cones were good too. The cones weren't too hard and were competent filled to the smallest corner of the cone. The flavors of the cone fillings were unique and not something that you would find on a common menu. For a cocktail, I chose the tiki punch which came in a chilled flak. I chose to drink it out of the glass. It was fruity but the liquor was still able to shine through. The braised short ribs with grits and veggies was delicious. In addition yo great food and drinks, our server was very attentive and helpful in making Enid selections. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself!

Yelp
Seabass and cocktail (where there's smoke) were amazing! It's a beautiful vibe for a date night- dark lighting and all. Service was excellent once I was seated. Sounds like a spot that requires reservations. I'd make another trip here with a reservation. I was offered a bar seat but they managed to squeeze me in for an hour before my flight to the airport after I asked to speak with the manager about the reservation times. As a solo female business traveller, I don't like bar seats especially when trying to get some work done.

Yelp
Not worth the money. The service was good but the food was meh. I ordered the scallops with risotto. The scallops were fine, but risotto was salty. My husband ordered the short ribs and although it was a good portion, it lacked flavor. He was really disappointed. The drinks were not bad, but nothing to rave about.

Yelp
This is me and my best friend's happy place. We love the vibe, the food, and the decor. Service is always fantastic, food comes out fresh and on time. And the drinks are amazing! Best place in the area to try a smoked cocktail!

Yelp
While in NC for an event, we visited The Cellar at Duckworth's and had a great time. The place is at the basement of Duckworth's and is a bit dark and noisy, but that adds to the ambiance and makes it feel cozy. The highlight of our visit was definitely the cocktails - they were creative, well-made, and delicious. The food was also good, with a range of options to suit everyone's tastes. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I would definitely recommend The Cellar at Duckworth's for a fun night out with family or friends, especially if you're looking for great cocktails in a cool atmosphere.

Yelp
Perfect restaurant for our anniversary. Ambiance and mood was on point. Our server was amazing! She even showed us the cellar with the many types of craft beers. Food was delicious and worth every penny. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Tasty food, unique and diverse cocktails, and the intimate, prohibition-style ambience make dining at The Cellar a great experience. The service is fantastic as well. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte.

Yelp
Service is nonexistent. Restaurant was not busy on a Monday night, and I sat for 15 min without any acknowledgement from servers. I just left... Never coming back.

Yelp
I don't have pictures of the food because even a good photo op shouldn't get in the way of good food. We had ribeyes, filet, fries, Brussels sprouts, candied jalapeño bacon, and the tres leches for dessert. All were great. The place was packed when we arrived but we were seated at the bar within 10 minutes. The bar tender was great. The beer selection was nice and enjoyed some really good wine as well. Normally I'm a bit more descriptive, but this place is simply great. Enough said.

Yelp
One of my favorite date night places in Charlotte. The food is top notch and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended place for those special occasions.

Yelp
So although the food here was good, I would say it wasn't too memorable for me at least. We started with tuna tartare which I personally wasn't the biggest fan of, but I'm also not a tartare person. I ordered the grouper and my boyfriend ordered a steak. My grouper was just okay but he said his steak was amazing. We both also had two drinks each and they were good. I liked their drink menu and the food is for sure good, but it's not a place that I would go back to unfortunately.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Service was great! The Brussels and Mac and cheese were sooooo stinking good. We got the cellar burger and the black grouper as well. The rice under the grouper was so good.

Yelp
I always get the Truffle Mac & Cheese here. It comes as a sharable small plate. YES to the Short Rib Gyoza Dumplings. They were pan-fried and delicious! I went with the Market Fish of the day with scallops. First time getting fish here and highly recommend! The Shrimp & Grits came with Chorizo which gave it an extra kick. The plates are very well priced considering the quality of food and portion size And last but not least, the Butter Pecan Whiskey... I don't even like Whiskey and I would drink this. They also brought out a birthday dessert for my boyfriend, on the house. Honestly no dislikes. Our waiter was incredible and gave a little history about what our table was used for when it was originally built back in 1912
