"Having Brunch on a Budget The Cellar, an upscale restaurant located at the Oryx Rotana Hotel, offers a new brunch concept in town, "TapBrunch" a mixture between tapas and brunch. Seafood, cured meats, bruschettas. olive-based pickles, fried anchovies, calamari and paella are their forte. Available every Friday for 175 QAR or $48 (food only) per person or 275 QAR, or $74 with unlimited sangria."

"We love Spanish food so much, but we don't find many Spanish restaurant reviews in Doha. Last Friday night, we got invited to The Cellar, a Spanish restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Oryx Hotel. They had a Spanish Fiesta promotion: a 5-course set menu, including one enhanced beverage, for only 149 QR. When we arrived, they served us Sangria as a welcome drink. There was a choice of red, rosé, and white Sangria. I will summarize each dish shortly: 1st Tapas: Traditional Galician-style Octopus - Potatoes salad with paprika, olive oil, and quail eggs. The fresh octopus was well cooked ,soft and a great match with the creamy potatoes salad. 2nd: Truffle and Mushroom Croquettes with béchamel sauce. Crispy outside, creamy inside croquttes —they melted in our mouths. The béchamel was very good; however, I expected a little more aroma of the truffle. 3rd: Slow-cooked Beef Cheek with potatoes purée. Melt-in-your-mouth beef cheek was a hit and went well with the potatoes purée. 4th: Seared Scallops with smooth velouté sauce and crispy cured beef. The freshly cooked scallops were cooked perfectly in the creamy sauce. 5th: Churros with chocolate dip. The crispy churros with cinnamon sugar were great on their own; however, for me, it was too sweet when I dipped it in the chocolate dip (I am not a sweet person). Overall, the food was very good, freshly made. We were so full and impressed with their food quality, freshness, quantity, as well as the service and the ambience, which was fantastic. We will definitely go back soon."

Such a lovely elegant place to have some real fine food. The service is friendly and attentive. Our young South African server knows the menu and confidently suggested various veg options. Very nice. The food is well presented and tasty. Our veg paella was on the mark. The Tomato soup was good but could have been a little less tart making it even better! All in all a great spot to have pleasant meal in lovely setting.

We were a group of six people celebrating my birthday at the restaurant, after seeing the sponsored Instagram post promoting the “La Vida Cellar” night. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations due to hygiene concerns. The evening began well, but one of our group members noticed a strand of hair in her salad. We immediately informed the waiter, who was polite and apologetic. The restaurant manager then came to our table, expressed his apologies, and asked how they could make it right. We mentioned that we preferred not to continue with the meal and would just have the birthday cake we had brought. A few minutes later, we noticed another hair in a different dish. We reported this again, and both the manager and chef came over to apologize. They offered for us to pay half of the bill, although only drinks, salads, and appetizers had been served at that point. We explained that we preferred to leave without paying, and they said they would check with the hotel duty manager. During this time, we also noticed that a waitress began cleaning the table with a towel that appeared to be used, without removing the plates first, which added to our concerns about hygiene practices. The next day, I received a call from the hotel to apologize and to send birthday wishes. However, no form of compensation or follow-up offer was mentioned. As long-time residents of Doha (12 years), we have dined at many of the city’s restaurants and have never experienced anything like this. This was a highly disappointing experience, especially since it was meant to be a special occasion. We expected better hygiene, service, and attention to detail from a restaurant of this caliber.
