Yelp
A search for artisan desserts led me to The Celtic Tea Shoppe. I browsed their online shop, and I was immediately sold by the fact that they had Chocolate Millionaires (chocolate caramel shortbread). Chocolate Millionaires among my favorite type of cookies, but I haven't found a local confectionery store that actually carried them. I would have to make them myself or wait to receive them as gifts during the holidays. Obviously the chocolate millionaires made it to my cart, and then it was a slippery slope from there. As soon as you know it my cart was piling up with other items such as a cauldron cake, Irish whiskey cake, mint chocolate shortbread cookies, and Irish whiskey fudge. Can't wait to try their savory meat pies though. I'm also looking forward to their seasonal/holiday menus coming up for the rest of the year. Halloween and Fall baked goods are available now.
The online ordering process was clear and super easy. (Be sure to write in the comment box during checkout when you intend to pick up your order.) When I arrived at the shop, I saw the designated area right outside the storefront for curbside pickup. I called the shop to let them know I was there, and a gentleman was ready to hand off my order. He kindly greeted me and placed the goodies inside my car for me. The whole transaction was professional and totally complied with Covid regulations as both of us wore masks and were mindful social distancing. With that said, I found customer service to be excellent overall. Prior to placing my online order, I had a question regarding one of the items. I called into the shop and corresponded with whom I believe was Kristen, one of the owners. She was seriously the friendliest and nicest person ever as she helped me over the phone.
I'm not proud of it, but I definitely tried a little bit of everything when I got home. Every single item was delightful in their own ways.
The chocolate millionaires were the best, of course, but particularly because of the caramel. I saw that the handcrafted caramel is what The Celtic Tea Shoppe is known for, and I can certainly validate that the caramel is that good. Other positives include the buttery shortbread and that it wasn't overly sweet.
The peppermint shortbread was great too. It had the same quality as the chocolate millionaires with a strong peppermint fragrance but not in taste.
The Irish whiskey cake was pretty moist, and the Irish whiskey fudge was soft and creamy. Both of them really packed some whiskey punches. They did not go light on the whiskey flavor, which probably had a lot to do with why I enjoyed these very much hah!
The cauldron pie was like a thick, giant chocolate moon pie. Talk about chocolate overload. If you're a chocolate lover, this would be for you.
Lastly, I want to note that the desserts were all packaged well. The shortbread cookies, in particular, were double packaged with the plastic wrap and then the paper bag.
