Best Restaurants in Wilmington, Delaware, a Short Trip From Philly | Eater Philly

"Following in the footsteps of Wilmington’s popular De.co food hall at the Hotel Dupont, the Chancery Market recently opened a few blocks away. It offers a diverse lineup of vendors from near and far. Try Nikita Thomas’s fast-casual vegan stall, Rooted AF, and Kati Roll Wala, which serves Indian street food both here and in Houston." - Ernest Owens

Good collection of small stores. Coffee, fresh fruits and the typical array of restaurants. We had coffee and it was great. They also have a game table that’s a lot of fun

We stopped by for lunch and we absolutely loved it! We got pizza from one shop and a smoothie from another. We’re excited to come back and try more options. My husband is especially excited for the poke. The on site parking garage makes this an easy spot to visit as well!

Google
Glad to see a social hang out spot, with good food, open on a Sunday in downtown Wilmington. This place is brand new, so it wasn't very busy but it was inviting all the same. Tried the Indian place, and was happy with the fresh flavors. Will definitely be coming back here to try the other places.

Google
Cool food hall with lots of options to choose from! There is also ample seating inside if you're just looking for a place to hangout. Support your local restaurants!

Stopped in before trying out the new movie theater in the building. Cool spot. Lots of eating options and a bar. Food was a bit inconsistent in quality and the bar was slow but had good drinks. Overall a cool place.

Google
Convenient place to hang out and several food and snack options next to the Residence Inn. 5 Restaurant type places, a café and a juice bar. I walked in on a Thursday in the middle of a Trivia game with lots of people participating. There’s also a big bar counter serving beer and cocktails. I got chili hot dogs & curly fries from Market Street Burgers & Dogs the first night, very good and Chicken Tikka from the Kati Roll Wala the next night, also pretty tasty. Usually I’d sit at the bar and socialize but I’m here for training and not drinking until next month. Great spot to hang out if you get bored sitting in a hotel room. Check out the pictures for the other food options.

Google
Chancery market is a gorgeous food hall and bar. There are many restaurants and eateries under one roof. The bar is beautiful with screens. They have outdoor games liek corn hole and more and fire places. A great hangout, dine and relax. We had the chicken tikka kati rolls wala and they wrre delicious. Staff is super friendly. They have a quick parkikg in front and a prking lot in the rear.

Google
Decent, family-friendly lunch spot near to I-95. Plenty of choices to suit everyone, and there was a shuffleboard table for entertainment. Parking is attached but NOT complimentary - cost us $7. Overall vibe was more office canteen than hip eatery.

Yelp
We were new to Wilmington and wanted a quick lunch. The Chancery Market was a great choice. It has many options to choose from. We have a delicious, freshly made brick oven pizza and a fresh, made to order lamb bowl. Added plus is the parking in the garage is free on the weekends.

Yelp
This was really a bad experience. It started with the absolute overwhelm of noise when we entered. I literally recoiled backwards from the amplification of the band. Okay, no problem. We can eat out in the lobby. They have QR codes on the tables and our food would be delivered to us. Of the six of us, four of us struggled with the online menu. I had no problem, but those using iPhones did. A couple of us went inside to order. There was no less than 15 minutes between each of our meals being delivered. I ordered first. I got my meal last, nearly 45 minutes after I ordered. The highlight was the service. The server was apologetic, understanding, and clearly "got it." One of us enjoyed the food. We were going to a movie at the Screening Room, sent the Chancery Food Court was a natural and convenient choice. Never again.

Yelp
This is an upscale food hall convenient to downtown Wilmington. There are plenty of options for all food preferences. The prices were generally $12-$20 per entree across most vendors. The space is very clean and there are tons of indoor and outdoor seating arrangements. The bar was fairly basic and not as pricey as I expected given the food prices. Each vendor we went to across our group was fairly slow, but they did cook to order. Individual reviews: Al forno: people in our group ordered the spinach and ricotta pasta, carbonara and a four cheese pizza. The four cheese pizza was incredibly cheesy, but had an over-abundance of Gorgonzola/blue cheese that overwhelmed the pizza. The addition of hot sauce from another vendor made it tolerable. The pasta dishes were delicious! I wish they had offered banana peppers and a better variety of pizza toppings. Mexican vendor: I had their chicken Caesar salad and it was fantastic! The chicken was tender and moist, and the Caesar dressing tasted homemade and the salad was fresh. Espresso: the crepes were overcooked and tough to eat, but the coffee was fantastic.

Yelp
Came in on a Tuesday night, turns out it's karaoke night! Fun! Kinda quiet tonight but fun and chill atmosphere. I decided on Kati Roll Wala Indian Grill. If you're looking for a healthier Indian alternative, ie not loads of greasy not-flavorful sauce, this is your place!! The flavor--mmmMMM! I went with the spicy lamb keema bowl with samosa bites and mango lassi. For real, I can't rave about this dish enough. Made to order, fresh ingredients, and on point with the flavor! The lady was really very nice and friendly, she even tailored the spice level to my request (more spicy please!)! It was spicy but not kick-you-in-the-mouth-lose-your-tastebuds spicy. Love it!!

Yelp
What a cute little food hall and a great addition to the two existing food halls (DECO in Hotel DuPont and the Wilmington Riverfront Market). Fuku is a David Chang restaurant, I'm honored he chosen to open up shop in Wilmington before Philadelphia. I wish he offered up some Milkbar cookies to go with the fried chicken here! Food at both Fuku and the Indian food stall were both prepared quickly, great for a quick lunch. There is a bike rack outside to lock up your bike if you are just pulling off the river walk for a quick bite to eat. I'll let the pictures of the food speak for themselves. Portions are kind of skimpy but taste + speed at which the order is made are good enough.

Yelp
First off they have free garage parking at 5:30pm during the week and free all weekend! This foodhall is located on the first floor of a office building. The vibes of the place is an upscale food hall filled with nice furnishings and diverse types of foods. They have everything from vegan, pizza, Indian street food, a coffee place etc. A really nice looking bar. My friends and I ordered from the bar. We missed happy hour but there is happy hour 4-7pm every day. I got the lavender lemon drop which was pretty good. At each table they have a QR code to order from various food vendors. You can pay on there and they bring the food to you! I tried the Fuku bacon chicken ranch sandwich with fries. I didn't know all the chicken sandwiches would be spicy. It was very spicy and the fries were spicy too. Either way I ate the whole thing since it was delicious Would love to take friends when they are in town and grab a bite to eat!

Yelp
The concept is great: a food hall of multiple small restaurants/food businesses with a big patio and sometimes music. However, things they obviously need to work on are; 1) try to have all restaurants have the same/reasonable operating hours. We were here at 730 pm on a Saturday and quite a few restaurants were closed. 2) recruit more restaurants that actually make good food.

Yelp
Hubby and I stayed across the street at noticed this place outside our window. Even though we've been in the area before (over a year ago) it was new to us so we decided to try it out. It wasn't terribly busy for it being a holiday weekend. I read that they had happy hour 4-7, so we headed over a little after 5 (easy enough to walk from Staybridge Suites, safe and little traffic). We got drinks from the bar, they have higher end liquor which was nice. Even though the bartender was friendly, she seemed not to know the drink menu that well (though she did make a good drink). We decided to sit outside and they have QR codes that you can order and they will deliver to your seat. Perfect! We ordered a little after 5:30 pm and did not receive our food until almost 6:30 pm - this was pretty unacceptable since it wasn't exactly busy. We ordered a greek salad (which was good, but again, took quite a long time) and also 2 pizzas (great taste!, but pizza should take 20 minutes, especially when you are seated). About the same time our food came, we heard last call for the bar - thinking it was just the end of happy hour, we decided to get another round. Turned out the place was closing at 7 pm (seems early for a holiday weekend). We ended up being the last ones there because, well, we didn't get our food timely and had to finish our drinks. Overall, the ambiance is great - the outside is a lovely place to sit and enjoy, we wished we could have stayed longer. The service needs some work, those bringing out the food had no idea where the tables were, so you kind of had to guess if they were bringing yours. Also, the time it took to get our food despite it being slow was crazy. So if you decide to sit outside and order using the QR codes- be warned. We'll definitely give it another chance, though we'll probably order our food inside and then go sit outside.

Yelp
I ordered food from Agave and The Korean Crispy Chicken place. The food at agave was not good. The worker was not really pleasant either. I ordered my food online and when I arrived to pick it up it was not made. Then what I ordered the guy said they didn't have it (chicken torta) and I was so upset. So I then got a chicken burrito. When I went to eat my burrito at the hotel room I was surprised to see very little chicken, beans, and a whole lot of rice. I was not served any sour cream or any sort of condiments that come along with a burrito. I also had a chicken quesadilla that also came with no condiments. On a brighter side the Korean fried chicken place is really good. The wings are massive! The fries were delicious! And then price was also great! So avoid agave I would. Other than that it was really close to my hotel and the vibe was nice. Shout out to the Korean fried chicken place for saving the day!

Yelp
Toscana Pizza & Panini Fresh ingredients. Quick. Great pie on the go. If you're a ranch dip type of person you'll love this ranch they have. I go for the the grilled chicken classic.

Yelp
Super clean space. Great drink prices at Happy Hour. Good variety of food in this luxury food court. Is it turning a profit ? Probably not. But a good public/private partnership providing jobs for the unlikely. Have a drink at the impressive bar.

Yelp
I went here on 4/1/23 around 8pm and ordered the spicy chicken sandwich meal with fries and a water from Fuku on my phone (by scanning the barcode provided). I paid for it and they later came over to our table and said they couldn't give me the fries because they had run out, but I would get a refund. A few minutes later I went to check up on the refund and was led to the manager working that night, Ryan. He apologized, shook my hand, and looked me in the eye and said I would get the refund. He was lying to my face. I followed up by dming them on Instagram where I was given Ryan's email. I have now emailed him 3 times and have gotten no response. Avoid this place at all costs, they are clearly shady and think it's okay to charge people for food they don't provide.

Yelp
The best place in downtown to find different options of meals. The customer service is great and the place is always clean.

Yelp
I really like the atmosphere here and the Staff at each eatery is very pleasant.Ryan and Gabby are awesome Managers come check them out !!! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Tried a chicken bowl from Chick N Salad for lunch today. One of the worst things I've eaten in a while. It was just precooked chicken with mixed veggies thrown in top of bland rice. Looked nothing like what was advertised. All for nearly $15.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at the Chancery Market. This place has a really cool vibe. The décor is gorgeous yet comfortable with plenty of lounge spaces. And, the outdoor patio with the indoor/outdoor bar is great! I had pizza from Toscana and chicken wings from Kati Roll and both were very good! If you are looking for a spot to try a variety of food, the Chancery Market is it!

Steph M.

Yelp
What a fun space! People compare it to Deco, but this place is much more polished and clean. Friendly staff, fun atmosphere. Plenty of options for everyone when it comes to food and drink. I love that there are several vegan and vegetarian options. A lot of places sleep on this and they are missing out!

Yelp
The atmosphere is nice. I had the eggplant panini from TOSCANA PIZZA E PANINI and it was horrible. No flavor at all. It was just mushed eggplant between bread. And, the pickle tasted funny. Disappointing first visit.

Isaac M.

Yelp
The atmosphere is spectacular there. Plenty of outdoor as well as indoor space to spend time with friends and family. Several vendors there have great food. There is also a bar with lots of drink specials and happy hour. Highly recommended!
