The Chedi Hegra, AlUla (AlUla, Ashar Valley) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Built into the ruins of a 1907 railway station, The Chedi Hegra is the only hotel within Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its rooms are full of textures: stone walls, arched thresholds, leather-bound lamps, opening onto terraces that face the desert. A restored steam engine anchors the restaurant, while a shimmering metal canopy follows the old tracks like a mirage. With the Nabataean tombs just minutes away, and silence as the loudest luxury, this is AlUla at its most elemental and rare." - Tablet Hotels

Chedi Hegra was the last part of our AL ULA trip.||It is a brand new resort and indeed a very luxury resort. An Old train station converted to luxury resort and kept the old buildings.||The train inside the lobby is Unique...You can see as well the remaining of the train rails.||Very nice lobby with luxury and great modern design.||What were not advised during booking that hotel is under soft opening and official opening - inauguration will be only in OCT.||The new reception open only the day that were checking out and check in the previous day was on the temporary reception at the hotel entrance.|The permanent and big spa is under contraction same like the main pool.||During our visit there was a small temporary SPA and there was a very small pool which was the only pool for now.||The hotel is in remoted place so no taxi or Uber will come there. You need to have you own car or driver.||The hotel book our trip to Hegra which is a short car ride as the hotel is within the Hegra area.||We loved the complementary morning safari offered by the hotel. A great way to finish our trip.||Our villa was super nice, modern and very big. Spotless clean. We had a separate living room and bedroom with two huge flat screen TV.|Huge outside patio with table for 6 and big sofa and place for outside fire for the cold night when weather is cool. Lover the outside veranda during the sunset and reminds that you in an African Savannah.||The most negative part is the extremely high prices for food and drinks. We have never came across such high prices. As the hotel is in remote area there is no taxi to go to AL ULA Old town so I guess the hotel is getting advantage of that and put the prices ski High. A coca cola is USD 12... Butter Chicken USD 60!!!||We give 4 Star due to the soft opening not being advised prior booking and the high food and beverages prices.||Other that is a lovely luxurious resort.

I usually do not put a review on my stays in hotel, but this experience was so memorable, that I wanted to take the time to share and rate the wonderful stay we had at The Chedi Hegra in AlUla. ||Despite the fact that we went in July, the weather was surprisingly acceptable and cool enough in the evenings that I even needed to wear a light jacket!||||From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. A special thank you to Bhandari and Ashwani ( sorry if i mispelled the names) from the front office, for their genuine kindness and care, they helped us organize an incredible stargazing experience. In the restaurant, Ari and Bayoumi, were very professional, and attentive to detail throughout our lunch.||||The quality of the food was simply amazing. Being in such a remote area, I didn’t expect to have this level of variety and delicious taste.||I really loved the minimalist concept of the suite, combining elegance and comfort. The attention to detail was to the point that the Nespresso coffee machine was leather coated! I felt completely at peace during my stay, which resulted in getting the best sleep I had in years, which is priceless for a mother of 3!||||The quality of the amenities was outstanding, and I really appreciated the hotel’s commitment to sustainability. Every product in the room reflected that philosophy, which made the experience even more meaningful.||||One of the activities I appreciated the most was being allowed to bike 15 kilometers through the UNESCO World Heritage site by ourselves.||||I would absolutely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique experience.

The Chedi Hegra exceeded all expectations! The blend of culture and hospitality was very interesting. Our suite was spacious and very nicely designed, with our window directly open to the Hegra landscape. The food in the restaurant was really good - my favorite is the Black angus steak! Special shoutout to the team for being very sweet and arranging a private guided tour of the Hegra site—it was the highlight of our trip. Truly a hidden gem in the heart of Saudi Arabia!

An Unforgettable Culinary Journey, Elevated by Exceptional Service My recent dinner at The Chedi Hegra was, without a shred of exaggeration, a perfect evening. From the moment we arrived, we were transported into a world of understated luxury, breathtaking views, and culinary excellence. But what truly transformed a great meal into an unforgettable memory was the impeccable service, personified by two incredible individuals: Fatima and Abir. The food was nothing short of spectacular. We embarked on a journey through modern interpretations of local and international cuisine. The entire experience was a highlight, but the service was the shining star. A Special Thank You to Fatima & Abir While every staff member was professional and attentive, Fatima and Abir were the heart and soul of our evening. Fatima greeted us with a genuinely warm smile that immediately made us feel like honored guests. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; she didn't just list ingredients but described the inspiration behind the dishes with passion. Abir recommendations were spot-on, and she guided us through our choices with grace and expertise. She anticipated our needs effortlessly, ensuring our glasses were always full and that we had everything we required before we even had to ask. To the management of The Chedi Hegra: You will never go wrong as long as you have team members like Fatima and Abir. They are a tremendous asset to your restaurant. Thank you for an impeccable experience. We will be back, not only for the world-class food but for the feeling of being so wonderfully looked after.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to The Chedi AlUla, where I discovered some of the best steakhouses in the region! A heartfelt thank you to Supervisor Amani for the warm welcome and exceptional hospitality, and to Abdullah for the wonderful tour of the hotel and the valuable insights he shared about the historic train station at The Chedi AlUla. If you’re seeking a remarkable experience that combines luxury and refined hospitality, I highly recommend visiting The Chedi AlUla!

I can confidently say this was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had — hands down. The Chedi Hegra is not just a luxury hotel, it’s a beautiful reflection of AlUla’s heritage and soul. Every detail is thoughtfully designed, blending modern elegance with the cultural identity of the region in a way that’s simply breathtaking. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, the atmosphere is serene, and everything is spotless and immaculately maintained. Special thanks to the amazing staff who made the stay unforgettable: • Badriya at the reception — graceful, kind, and welcoming from the first moment. • Yusra — a true professional who coordinated everything perfectly and made sure every detail was taken care of. • Zaher, the massage therapist — the massage was absolutely incredible, one of the best I’ve ever had. It was just one night, but it truly felt like a deep, luxurious escape. I’ll never forget this experience. Thank you to The Chedi team for making it so special.
