Let me start off by saying that in spite of the unflattering reviews for this location I decided to give them
a chance anyway.
I live between the 2 locations of Aventura and Coral Gables. I often frequent the Aventura restaurant and I have never walked away disappointed in the service or the food.
Now let's get to my experience at the Coral Gables location. Thursday, May 16th around 4:45 PM. I attempted (several times) to place a dinner order online. The app wasn't functioning and it kept dropping my order and taking me back to the beginning where I needed to place the order again.. and again. From about 4:45pm until about 5:15pm I attempted to place the order online with no success.
Around 5:15pm (about 30 minutes later) out of frustration, I decided to just go ahead and phone in the order. When I called the first time, a woman picked up the phone and she didn't say "thank you for calling the cheesecake factory". She didn't say "may I take your order". She said, "we're busy, can you call back in five minutes ?" My genuine, honest and confused response was huh? Are you kidding? She then hung up on me!
Because I now have the phone number programmed in my phone, I hit the button and called right back. When I said hello, clearly recognize my voice she hung up on me again. So I called back six more times. I said "hello" and after hearing my voice, she hung up on me SIX more times! Unbelievable! I am now furious because I'm also frustrated that I wasn't able to place the order online. Now this? At this point, I have attempted to call the restaurant seven times and have been hung up on seven times. I called back once more because now.. I'm mad. The eighth time that I call, she finally says hello. I immediately asked her why did she continually hang up on me? She said because she was busy and that she told me to call back in five minutes!
Wow. We get into a brief yelling match and I ask to speak with a manager. This person says that they are the manager. When I challenged her on whether or not, she was the manager, she hung up on me again! Now she's clearly was lying too.
I go back to the app to try to place the order online again. Why am I still dealing with them you may ask.. "BECAUSE" My husband is in route to pick the order up and time is now of the essence. He's getting of work and he does not want to wait. I don't want him to arrive and there is no order to be picked up.
So, after getting hung up on several times, I go back to the app and I'm able to get through to place the order online.
The order is ready just as my husband is arriving to pick it up. Mind you, it's been an hour since I originally tried to place the order with all of the drama in between.
I explain to my husband, the experience that I had with the app and with the hostess that would NOT take my order. He goes back into the restaurant and he asked to speak with the (real) manager. It is now crystal clear that the woman on the phone was not the manager. My husband tells the manager of my experience and the manager wants to speak with me . So my husband calls me and I explain to the manager what happened .
Basically, I walked away from that situation unsatisfied because all that the manager said was that he was sorry. Sorry, doesn't compensate for the time, the energy, or the horrible customer service or the hostess hanging yelling at me and hanging up 8 times.m in my face. I said to the manager that this particular hostess does not, or should not be out front greeting customers. I received no satisfaction from him. He seemed very nice but young and inexperienced. It was very clear dealing with him, that nothing was going to that happen in that situation.
Going forward I will stick with the Aventura location. And if you have the option, I suggest that you do the same. My business is clearly valued more in Aventura. Reviews don't lie and I should've taken them seriously for this location. Had I done that this review would not be necessary because I never would have patronized them in the first place.
There are too many amazing eateries in Coral Gables all within walking distance of the Cheesecake Factory. No one has to settle..
Just disappointing all around.
