The Biggest LA Restaurant Stories of 2020 | Eater LA

"A Calabasas-based, publicly traded national restaurant chain made headlines when it notified landlords on March 25 that it could not make rent payments due April 1 due to steep COVID-19 revenue losses — a move criticized because many smaller independent restaurants continued paying rent with little assistance, highlighting pandemic-era inequities in the industry. The company later agreed to pay a $125,000 SEC fine for understating the pandemic’s financial impact and misleading investors in March and April by issuing overly optimistic reports while in fact losing millions of dollars per month." - Mona Holmes

The Cheesecake Factory Is Opening a New Restaurant Concept This Fall | Eater

"A Calabasas, California–based casual dining chain known for oversized portions, an expansive spiral-bound menu, and indulgent desserts. Historically a strong performer (average locations have generated more than twice the annual revenue of a typical Olive Garden), the chain saw a sales slump after a long stretch of growth but reported modest recovery with same-store sales up 2% in Q1 2018. Many locations are mall-based, which has presented challenges as mall traffic declines. The company has experimented with other restaurant concepts but currently has no plans to create a fast-casual version of its flagship brand." - Whitney Filloon

The chain as a whole might benefit from installing more locations of their Grand Lux Cafe brand. Grand Lux Cafe consistently delivers on quality, service, and atmosphere. To the credit of ordinary Cheesecake Factory locations, they still prepare everything in-house, which is more than some chains can say about themselves.

My husband and I took out of state visitors to your Redondo Beach location. After we were seated I opened my menu and there was food on a few places. The server noticed and was very apologetic. Not her fault. Went to the ladies room and was shocked. I felt that I was in a gas station bathroom! One out of 4 stalls had a little bit of toilet paper. The rest had none. The floors were littered and dirty. I wish I was exaggerating but no. I walked out and went to talk to a host. I asked her to please have a manager come over. She said okay but after standing there for a good ten minutes it was clear she did not contact him. I went back to the table and asked our server to please have a manager come over. I let her know she was doing a great job and it wasn’t about her. The manager came over, I showed him the pictures. Of course he apologized. I blame management for all of this. He was not doing his job. He is obviously not fit to be in charge.

Called Arcadia location yesterday to make reservations for a party of 15ppl. I was transferred to the manager by the name of Frank. He said there’s no reservations and only walk-in. My response is “no reservations for a party of 15???” I’ve never heard you couldn’t make a reservations for a large party. How does that make sense??? So 15ppl are supposed to stand outside the restaurant until the tables are put together and ready??? Restaurant businesses are thriving and trying to stay afloat by how the economy is going. So you’re willing to lose 15 customers for an unprofessional trained manager who you’re paying to run your restaurant?

Cheesecake Factory should literally close this location. It’s disgraceful. Absolutely awful experience from start to finish. The manager was extremely rude, and the staff followed suit with the same attitude. I specifically asked for a shaded seat, but they placed me where the sun was directly in my face the entire meal — blinding and uncomfortable. The restaurant itself was filthy, with gum stuck under the tables. My food took well over an hour to arrive and, when it finally did, it was grossly overcooked and inedible. To make matters worse, they have the nerve to charge customers just to park. Between the rude service, dirty environment, terrible food, and hidden costs, I would strongly recommend avoiding this location. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Thousand Oaks, Ca. I ordered the piccata chicken and the chicken itself was sour. I had the sauce on the side. No sauce on it so I smelled just the chicken and it smelled really sour. If I had put the sauce on it the smell would have been covered up. Any one else eating that chicken will the sauce would not have noticed the smell.

The SERVICE at University Towne Center in Sarasota, Florida is horrible. The hostess completely lack hospitality and are extremely rude. Attempted to call in to gain information, was hung up on, on call back was repeatedly asked to repeat myself. Then asked for a manager which was clearly understood and when the “manager” who sounded exactly the same, did the same thing. On the 4th call asked for a table, they understood completely without issues. These people are very rude. I dont know anything about them except they lack maturity and are just rude.

08-27-2024 04:24pm eastern time Ck#206 Server: Ahmad G My name is Chuck, this evening I placed a ToGo order for the Steak Frites cooked medium, no fries, sub green beans. I got my order and went back to my hotel room only find the the Steak was WELL DONE, like boot leather and a container full of Fries, no Green Beans. This steak was the tiniest steak I've ever gotten from a restaurant. I paid $43.28 for this and thats unacceptable. I will not be back if this is what they do to customers, I will not recommend anyone to eat with you guys either.

Visited Cheesecake Factory Glendale today and was shocked the way I was treated, I was waiting for a table for 2, when they called my name, I was standing there and there wasn't anyone else waiting, she asked me if everyone was here and I responded my daughter is in the elevator and will be here shortly, she responded in extremely rude tone that I have to wait for her before we can be seated, I told her she is meeting me at her lunch break and I need to be seated so I can order, told her that my daughter has to go back to work ... she rolled her eyes and said No in extremely disrespectful way, asked for a manager and someone was on the phone next to us and he overheard our conversation, he responded I'm the manager, explained everything to him even though he heard everything and he said that's our policy... since the corporate office was closed, Called Cheesecake Factory located at a different location and informed that there isn't such a policy..... We go there at least once a week, never anything like this happened before, very disappointed We went to Nordstroms cafe and had a delicious meal, the quality and customer service was amazing nothing to compare to Cheesecake Factory in Glendale. The worst part is that I contacted the corporate office the same day , left a message and never heard back It’s been over 2 weeks now and I’m thinking if the higher management doesn’t care what do you expect from the employees that are working for them
